We came here after work based on recommendations from colleagues. Bad Dad has great parking and a very big space. We enjoyed our pizzas (Neopolitan & Detroit) as well as burgers. I was the DD so sadly I had no beer, but my friends enjoyed it. Will return if ever in the neighborhood again. read more

Brewery #281 This place understands me, it get's me, I'm partially convinced they tapped my brain or my metaverse and said "Let's make a place that caters to this guy, Da Gabe aka Mike Honcho" Bad Dad has taken dad jokes and made a brewery. Beers named 'Socks and Sandals, Pull My Finger, I'll Turn this Car Around' and many more. Their tin tacker is of a slightly obese dad in an undersized sleeveless shirt, headband and white New Balance sneakers riding a beer can. Perfection. Genius! While their humor got me in the door, their pizza and beer will get me to come back. I got my standard flight with I'll Turn This Car Around (Hazy IPA), Kiss the Cook (DIPA), Snooze Button (Imperial Stout) and a Tapestry of Obscenity (IPA). All were really great but The Snooze Button was my favorite of the bunch. We also got a couple of pizzas. A Detroit style called Motown with thick pepperoni, hot honey, and basil which was very tasty and a Margherita pizza that was solid. My only issue was they were out of stickers for my man cave wall but that's just all the reason to go back next time I visit my parents in Indiana. read more

Definitely Destination Dining What a hidden in plain sight gem of a great place for amazing craft beer and out of this world pizza. Kam, our server, took our dining experience to a whole other level. I asked to taste all the beers but the IPAs and was brought a sip of each one, I decided on the "You're Grounded, Mister" Stout. Smooth, with a nice kick of coffee had me order this one twice. Now for the pizza...some of the very best pizza I have ever had. We ordered the "Motown" Detroit style pizza with the Mike's Hot Honey which sent this pizza into orbit and tasted out of the world. The other pizza we ordered was the New Yorker which was a thin crunchy crust pizza and as delicious yet totally different. Plan a trip up to Fairmount sooner than later, this place will not disappoint. read more

Good food very nice looking place, we had pizza and was very good craft beer was a plus!

Stopped here while rolling through town. Nice little spot! Definitely has the traditional "industrial" brewery feel. Unfortunately I was driving so couldn't indulge in any of the beers but the pizza I ordered was delicious! I got the Supreme Detroit Style Pizza. I love a thick bread-y crust and rarely order supreme pizzas because of my hate for black olives. Thankfully this one didn't have any! Serving was definitely big enough for 2 people to share, or to have leftovers. The waitress was also very kind and helpful. Detroit style does take a bit longer to cook because of how thick the crust is, but she set that expectation upon handing us our menus. Worth the wait in my opinion! read more

Pretty good beers and friendly staff. Not a lot of seating inside but there's good outdoor picnic tables. I only had beers but my friends Detroit style pizza looks pretty solid. I'll definitely get pizza next time and pair with a good beer. Definitely worth checking out! read more

The pizza here is straight-up delicious--worth every calorie and then some. But y'all have this sneaky habit of closing early with zero warning, turning fans into sad detectives staring at dark doors... while people are still dining inside. Called ahead tonight, got the all-clear, showed up to a 'closed' sign and locked doors. Not the first time. I get it--slow nights, short staff, whatever. But your social media manager is out there posting regularly--we see you! A quick 'Closing early tonight!' post takes 10 seconds and saves us from pizza heartbreak. Still five-star slices. Just stop breaking our hearts. (And now I'm eating chicken nuggets for dinner. Tragic.) read more

Service was great once I found the right counter. The vibe around the place gives off a family vibe. The pizza was delicious! If the little cup size pepperoni didn't taste like the little cups you can get from your local grocer's freezer, the score would have been 5 stars. read more

Very cool vibe going on here. Of course I'm a dad with a dad bod. So.... Had an "Yo Paulie" pizza. Very tasty; a small was enough that I could split it and eat half the next night. Beer was good and the marketing is on point. Service was quick even though there was a good size crowd. It's sort of tucked away, but not hard to find. read more

Don't miss this tiny place in a tiny town. Big flavors, big personality, and great beer on tap! And all with local friendly service. The Detroit style pizza (we had the Motown) was so flavorful and the crispy cheese around the edges is the best! We also tried the Yo, Paulie, which is a white pie with soppressata salami, ricotta, mozzarella, Italian sausage, garlic, basil, and a drizzle of hot honey...yeah, amazing! We'll be back when in the area next time. read more

Nice local brewing company. Good beer, good service, very accommodating. Was what you expect of dining at a craft brewery, but very nicely done. Food was great, service was great, would go back again to the home town of James Dean. read more

Motown Pizza: (5/5) Delicious pizza. Kiss the Cook: (5/5) Best beer I've tried in a long time. Would drink this any day. New Yorker add Veggies: (5/5) I'm not a big pizza person but I would add this to a Sunday night weekly pizza night. So so good. Customer service: (5/5) When they brought the pizzas out they asked us to check if the crusts were too done for our liking and if they were they would refire them for us. We wouldn't have even questioned if they were too done, they were perfect. They did reheat a little too done but still ate all the leftovers anyways. Easily could split one pizza, we had plenty of leftovers. Ambiance: (5/5) Will 1000% be back soon, with friends. read more

OK where do I start. Excellent service I now have new standards for my pizza and my beer. I had the two stouts even had to go home with a growler had two pizzas and both of us were over-the-top. Happy with how delicious they were. What is hot honey I have no idea, but it literally Has to be on everything I have now lol. It was a 45 minute drive. It would've been worth a 3 Hour Dr. read more

this place is an out of place gem that we have been to a couple of times. They have a great beer selection and really good pizza. The service has always been great and its on our list every time we return. read more

My second visit to Bad Dad was even better than my first. Just on the edge of town in what feels like a neighborhood, you'll find two great spots. We were meeting a friend so we decided on the family salad, bread, and pizza. It was their beach party night so they had Jimmy Buffett music playing, then live music, a special Hawaiian pizza, and plenty of fruited seltzers on tap. I was skeptical of pineapple on a pizza, but it was amazing. If they keep it on the menu it will be a big seller. We sat outside because it was packed inside. It is a popular place so get there early and get your food orders in too. You won't be disappointed with anything. They were well staffed so we never had to wait long for anything. There is plenty of parking, but again, it is a popular place. I can't wait to go back read more

This place is amazing. If you're not passing through the area, then make. Special trip. The staff is so awesome, the beer is on point (and never disappoints) and the food is amazing! We finally tried the pizza and bread and it was so flavorful. The olive oil on the bread was so good you didn't even need dipping sauce (although the marinara was phenomenal). The pizza was so fresh with the best crust. If it wasn't so far away we'd be here all the time! read more

10/10 pizza. Good service. Pretty cool setting. They brew their own alcohol and the tomatoes and sauce they use are so rich and sweet

Beer was ok. Bartender was very welcoming and on the ball. Great service! Detroit pizza was fabulous! Will come back just for the pizza!

We stopped here in the little town of Fairmount Indiana while we stayed in nearby Marion, Indiana. We found this place on Yelp and we love trying micro breweries. Cute restaurant. We sat outside on the patio. They have cool names for their beers and really only have pizza as a choice. We sat next to two ladies that are regulars and they helped us make a pizza selection. Beers were good. Pizza was good. I just wish there was a larger menu choice. read more

Top notch pizza. The pizza is better than the beer and the beer was good. Too bad this place it 50 minutes from my home. Besides that I found the entrances not clearly marker. We actually sat down at an attached separate restaurant only serving one bad dad beer only to find out if we were interested in more bad dad choices and pizza we needed to go to bad dad brewing inside the same building. Very confusing to new comers. Even the first door we went in which seemed like the obvious entrance was between both businesses with no greeter and tables. We waited there for a bit before going to the wrong restaurant. read more

Husband and I went for a spontaneous date night. It's a 53 minute drive but oh so worth it! The pizza was honestly some of the best pizza we have ever had. Additionally the beer was phenomenal and I didn't have a single beer I didn't like. I opted for a flight (I typically do) and tried 5 different beers, all fantastic! Pizza, my husband and I went for the St Louis and the Yo Paulie. So good! We will be back to try more varietals very soon. read more

A great brewery in the tiny berg of Fairmount! Crowded on a Saturday night, we luckily snagged two bar seats in this industrial decor addition to GrIain and grill restaurant. I had the Bitte Marzen and the wheat beer, hubs had the sour, the brown aLe and the socks and sandals. Didn't try their IPA's because they came in a can. Had theNew Yorker pizza. Ranks up there with best pizza ever. Fantastic crust with "leoparding" meaning the charred parts of the crust. Pepperoni chips came with a ranch dip and a sweetness from the house honey. If you find yourself near Fairmount, make a detour for here. read more

After a day of exploring Grant and Blackford Counties, I began winding down my adventure by stopping by this family owned brewery. Located next to the Grains & Grill, the brewery shares the same strip mall building as the restaurant. I grabbed one of the spots in their parking lot and after checking out the front patio which was being readied for the summer, I entered. Inside, the space is quite open with windows at the back that let you see into the brewing area. The bar/order counter is on your left as you enter. I grabbed a spot at the bar and decided to go with the mini flight (4 selections as opposed to trying 12!) I was impressed that there were so many options to choose from in house brews. And the selection ran a full range of tastes to appeal to just about any beer drinker. I started with the Cartoon Cat Hefeweizen that was really good. I immediately got the tastes of clove and banana, not masked by a bunch of stray flavors like some places. When I order a Hefe, this is the kind of flavor I'm looking for. I then tried the Thank Benedict Mocha Stout (5.8%) with a nice amount of chocolate flavor to deliver a tasty and balanced drink. I followed that with one of their multiple IPA options, the Tapestry of Obscenity (6.6%) which may have been my favorite of the flight. Just enough hops without being too bitter. I also got to sample the Crop Dust (also an American IPA) but with a bit more kick (7.1%). Not as hoppy as the Tapestry, but still good and one of their best sellers. I finished off with the Peach Fuzz sour (Berliner Weisse) at 5.4%. Not too sour, but more fruity and just a really pleasant tasting beverage. Somewhat sweeter than expected, I could see this appealing to folks who prefer a sweet cider to brew. The bartender was quite friendly and helped me pass the time by sharing a bit about the business while I sipped. Please note that they do serve pizza, but that the kitchen has different hours most days than the brewery (see my photo for hours). Since, they have food in house and at their restaurant next door, they discourage bringing your own food in or having something delivered from elsewhere. Great beer in a nice environment (somewhat industrial indoors, cool patio area outside). I may need to head back this way again soon! Review #2567 read more

My daughter & I were wandering through the Marion, Gas City, Fairmount area looking for Garfields on a Sunday afternoon & found Bad Bad Brewing. This is a pretty incredible pizza and beer oasis in rural indiana. It's well-known at this point, but it is still surprising to see the pizzas this place is throwing out there. From Fort Wayne and Indy it's centrally located with just over an hour drive and is a place that is definitely a must for a destination dining experience. The pizzas are crisp and offers high quality ingredients. The beers are a solid lineup as well. The inside is just a fun vibe with several places to dine, huge patios, and even a secondary restaurant at one end offering other food items besides pizza. I'm definitely going to make this trek again and more in the future. read more

We stopped here on a Saturday evening on our way home. The place was packed but the hostess assured us the wait would be 30 min which was nbd. So 30 min later we are seated (2 adults & 4 starving, grumpy kids). The menu was not large with few items. We wanted pizza but turns out the pizza is only served at the pizza joint CONNECTED to this restaurant. Wait... what?? It's same building but we couldn't order pizza. We had our hearts set on pizza & waited 30 minutes to be seated in the section of the building where you cannot order pizza. Gtfo of here smh! We checked the wait for seating at the pizza place and was told THEY WAS OUT OF PIZZA DOUGH. Omg how aggravating! We all ordered burgers, slammed them & left. read more

Moving to the small town area, I knew food options were going to be hard to find. Tucked away in the middle of nowhere in true Midwest fashion is this little gem. This little gem is tucked in next to a fave restaurant, Grains and Grill in Fairmount, IN. The same family is brewing great beers--tasty variety with something for everyone. And then, to top it off they added a pizza oven with all these amazing combos to try. You cannot go wrong. To make it even better you can choose a salad to share (I love the salad) or a charcuterie board--yum! Then, finish off this tasty night with a scrumptious cheesecake. You can get a growler to go of your favorite beer, new merch with the BD logo and on weekends you can catch a band playing. You'll almost see friends there, so it's just a great place. Love their pizza and it's family friendly! read more

This is the place to be! Live music, cozy aesthetic, good drinks, delicious pizza. The workers were all so friendly, and our waitress brought us several samples since it was our first time there. They have some crazy flavored beers, some of them weren't my favorite but they were fun to try. The pizza was a little pricey for the size and small amount of cheese, though. Overall, check this place out if you want a fun, cozy place to have some good beer and pizza. I'll definitely be back. read more

We'd waited years to come up and try the pizza, but the opportunity arose tonight. Beers are solid, but we already knew that. Detroit pies take 30 minutes or more, but that's faster than driving to Michigan. Motown was delicious. Salad really did feed 2-4! read more

We traveled 45 minutes to Bad Dad specifically to try the pizza after having many friends rave about it. We split one, although we could have probably each finished our own. It was so good! The crust is tasty, thin and bendable, and I folded my slices like a good New Yorker would. I appreciate a place that doesn't use pre-made, pre-shaped crusts. Real pizza crusts are not uniform, and these are not. The appetizer selection is minimal. We went with the house baked bread, which after reading the description and an explanation from our server, we still didn't realize were basically breadsticks until they arrived. They were good, but we would have preferred a cheese or garlic butter sauce for dipping over the ice cold marinara. Next time we will at least ask that the marinara be warmed. We will definitely be back. read more
