I travel for work and spent a lot of time in Muncie over the years. I'm sad to say I only 'discovered' Mancinos in the past six months. Since then, I've made it a regular rotation for grinders and dessert. The grinder bread--made on-site daily--is their specialty. I've watched videos on how they make it and cook it, but I doubt I'd be able to recreate at home. Try something you like the first time and then start to expand and experiment with their other combinations. Pizza is solid. One of these visits I'm going to skip the grinder and try their take on a midwest classic--taco pizza. Definitely a budget chain that gives you a locals favorite vibe. Didn't feel the classic 'record scratch--locals stare' when I walked in...but it was very apparent everyone knew each other. While it started in Michigan, there's many branches in MI, IN, KY, and a few in IL and WI. If you're heading to Mancino's, try a 1/2 grinder to start. If that is as intriguing as it was for me, you'll be back on the regular. read more

I've been to quite a few Mancino's restaurants around Indiana/ Michigan. This one is better than most as far as the food. iOne complaint: The current bar area is TERRIBLE! The owner could double his income if he made the Sweet Shop area into a sports bar. Ice cream is great, but people like beer and sports better, especially when there are hotels all around and no other place close to get a cold beer! Also, the current location is bad as well as far as parking. They should move down the street to the vacant Pizza Hut. Forgot to add they need a place to lock bikes up at. Formerly a Muncie native who is now rehomed south of Indy where sadly...there are no Mancinos :( I am also pregnant so.. while traveling home from Muncie I HAD To stop and get a chicken/bacon/ranch grinder (full) for dinner and left overs for next day's lunch! There's just something about the bread, can't replicate it at home if I tried. If you haven't tried a grinder, you're missing out! Honestly unless you want leftovers a half is plenty. This was the best pizza place I've visited in Indiana. A very nice choice for a good time and great pizza.

I was most impressed with the facility versus the pizza I ordered. This facility is large. Most Mancinos stores are small to carry out only. This one had a huge dinning area on the right hand side that is good for groups. Neat and clean. Self serve soda. The middle section is a railed in adult bar. Kinda odd for the Mancinos I've patronized. The bar had done TVs and looked comfortable but not too attractive to make you want to stay for a long time. The left side is a Sweet Shop with ice cream. You can eat it there or at the bar or in the dinning room. The staff was very friendly and efficient. They pushed the pace to get your food out to you quickly. I ordered the Mancinos Pride pizza. I liked the soft hand tossed crust - not crispy but not chewy raw either. The pizza had the right amount of toppings for a delicious pizza. Not overflowing that it falls in you lap but enough to know you got your money's worth. The sauce was a little sweet yet didn't really accent the taste much. Overall...good place to try especially if you have a larger group. read more

A very good friend of mine couldn't wait for me to try this place after she painted such a delicious sounding picture! It was well worth the field trip to Muncie! I ordered the Italian Grinder sandwich (minus green peppers) to go! We opted to wait inside and take a peek at the adjoining sweet shop! They offered sundaes, milk shakes and ice cream sandwiches. Unfortunately, we were saving room for the grinder so we skipped dessert. I did however make a note of their fall feature: Maple Cranberry ice cream. Back to the sandwich! It was fantastic and huge- more than enough for two adults. The bread was super fresh and only lightly toasted which I liked. The ingredients were super flavorful and required a lot of napkins! I was visiting Muncie for a work training and I was recommended to swing by this funky joint for a great local eat. The atmosphere was cool and felt like a strange combination of a family food place with a college bar vibe mixed in. I got a chicken grinder and it was delicious. What a joke. Ask for BBQ chicken pizza there's no sauce on it. Ask for a Stromboli's it's just papa John's sausage chunks in a loaf of bread and 4 banana peppers and two strips of onion. Awful. It's just a bunch of non motivated college kids. Go to an actual mom and paps spot. read more

Thumbs up to the staff, wait time didn't seem any longer than usual. we ordered Hawaiian Pizza - BBQ sauce, ham, pineapple and mozzarella cheese. Garlic Cheese Bread - yum. and the Reuben - Corned beef, sauerkraut, 1000 island dressing and cheese. These are Grinders and over the years they have not changed much, good food, kid friendly. They have a bar so you can get a beer with your pie (pizza pie). They have a large party room - book your party there and right next door is an ice cream shop. read more

Had a big problem with the au jus sauce: besides the fact that it was only partly filled scalding hot liquid jammed haphazardly on its side in the bag and got everywhere, it also reeked like animal piss and tasted like sink water. It was a real hassle. So why does this place still get 5 stars? Two factors: Portion size and quality. The grinders here are enormous for the price, not too skinny on the filling, and so balanced in flavor that I just ditched the au jus. Do you know how good a French dip has to be for you to eat it without dipping and without regrets? Pretty damn good. But the cowboy steak grinder was the real showstopper. It's just the right amount of beefy, creamy, spicy. I don't care, I'm going back to Mancino's. The atmosphere was cool, all the customers were cool, and the fact that it's a joint place with an ice cream area means there's a lot in this little building to try. read more

I'm not a fan of hot sandwiches... Dont know where the idea came from but it ruins the experience.

The grinders are the best! Great price for a ton of food! My only complaint is that my partner had ordered their wings, and when received, they seemed to be frozen inside. When he asked if they could be reheated, the workers were kind, but the inside of the wings were still cold. Other than that, we felt the food was still pretty good! read more

This will be the third time I've been to a Mancino's and this was the busiest and best location yet. This one had a bar, as if it was a TGIFriday's or some such. At about 5:30 p.m., it was busy but not full. I ordered a 9 inch Mancino's Pride. It's a bit more expensive at this location and with the small-ish soda, it came to $9.91, squeezing the life out of a $10 bill. It's not horrible, but I noticed that they want you to donate a quarter to refill your drink. It may seem silly, but pressure, mild or strong, is still pressure and need not be applied at all. I filled my drink as far as possible and didn't return for a refill. They have a number of booths and tables, including some 2 seat tables along the outside wall, nearer the parking lot. After a reasonable time, they called my name and I met the worker halfway to get my pizza. It was hot and looked quite nice. There was a reasonable amount of ingredients on it, as you can see from the photo. It was nicely done, crisp but not burnt. I don't usually like the crust to be quite so thin but the taste was quite good. After tables were vacated, no one went to clean them, and being a busy place, they might think that it's okay to ignore them and let the customers sit there but I don't think it's a good way to handle things. I know that they were busy but you can't be too clean in the restaurant business. read more

I had originally come in for ice cream after I had gotten lunch elsewhere and could not get over how good the restaurant smelled. A week later I was back to try out the pizza and other food. When you walk in they have a very large print out of the menu on the wall, which was neat and easy to read from. I ordered a small (9") pepperoni pizza and half with sausage, an order of the garlic cheese bread, and a drink. The person taking my order was pretty average, didn't go out of her way to make conversation, but wasn't rude. When my food came out I noticed that when I said an order of garlic cheese bread, she misinterpreted that and gave me the normal, not side, order of bread. It was definitely my mistake, but if you order this make sure you specify how much you want. Besides that, the bread was so appetizing and I could tell that it was homemade. The pizza was alright, it didn't impress me that much. It kind of reminded me of Noble Roman's pizza. The crust seemed like it was bought as a premade crust from the local grocery store. The toppings were good, the sausage (which I am picky about) was decent and seemed like real Italian sausage. The drinks don't come with free refills, because they want you to donate money to a local organization to get a refill. Overall, it's a pretty average pizza place. The price is very fair and it's pretty cheap. The pizza is OK, I probably wouldn't come back to get it, as I can get something I like a lot more elsewhere. As far as the garlic cheese bread is concerned, I would return just to get an order of it, because it's that good. read more

A mancinos like no other. I like that is different from the one in New Castle with more seats and some games (plus you can drink in this one). It is also good to have it right next to the hotel in case you get tired from work and you just want to rest. Overall Mancinos is good. Who doesn't love Mancinos? The food is always great! The staff seem to Leah's be friendly as well. Only complaint is that they need to keep up on the dining room... As an experienced shift manager and experience in the food industry I know it's hard to keep up on this task as you get rushed or slammed with customers. But I recommend for the leader to suggest all front house people keep an eye on customers going and quickly wipe any tables they may see immediately come empty. A lot of the time the tables are dirty and floor is sticky near table seating. Customers especially loyal ones enjoy seating at. Fresh clean area to eat! read more

Best grinders in this area with high quality and low price!

The food was delicious. Some of the lettuce on my sub looked less than fresh but I was pretty hungry so I didnt care that much. The bathrooms were pretty nasty though. I have seen cleaner gas station restrooms. I tend to judge a place by their restroom because if they care about that I'm pretty sure they care just as much if not more about the cooking environment. Anyways. 3 stars. I probably would go back. It was decent enough for a small town. read more

Cookies are nothing special- not soft but not rocklike either. Ice cream is unremarkable but is ice cream nonetheless and so still very tasty. I have had a pork bbq grinder. Straightforward crusty hot sandwich with a moderate amount of pulled meat in between. Tasty, sweet barbecue sauce and tender meat. Overall nothing bad to report. I'm not sure how I could have waited this long to write a review of Mancino's. It has been open since I was a kind and is something of a Muncie institution at this point. It is more or less a pizza parlor with a small bar. I think their main attraction though are their "grinders." A grinder is a big flat sandwich with melted cheese on a toasted.....err... ciabatta type bread. The filler is generally some kind of deli meat. I'm partial to the ham.... a good place to hang out during lunchtime. read more

We just paid $40 for two extremely thin pizzas that tasted like cardboard. They were tremendously under-topped, we had about one piece of mushroom and one piece of sausage per slice. Very little cheese as well. These were worse than those cheap Jack's pizzas you get at the store. You can get a much, much better pizza from just about anywhere else. Sorry Mancinos, I don't like leaving negative feedback, but this is really sad. read more

I'm familiar with the Mancino's chain, having been to two others in my life time. Muncie Mancino's is by far the busiest of the three. They maintain their tradition of supporting the local athletic teams in the area. Therefore, it's very Ball State Cardinals themed. While the atmosphere is casual, they could do with some more breathing space in the restaurant. I've been to this place when they've been full to capacity and it gets pretty cramped. Anyway, that's the only critique I would give it. The food, however, is delicious! As far as taste, it's the best Mancino's around in my opinion. Highly recommend their food, will definitely come back again for it. read more
