Loved it! A manageable drive from DC that offers a relaxing, fun experience. We went for a fall afternoon and sampled 8 ciders along with apple cider donuts! There was ample seating outside and indoors, a fire pit, and a beautiful view of the mountains. The ciders were delicious and there were seasonal flavors to try as well. The cider place was conveniently located across the way from somewhere (I forget the name) with pumpkins, farm goods, hay rides, etc for all the fall activities. Delicious semi-sweet cider with over a dozen fruity flavors - Peach, Ginger, Blackberry Ginger, Blue Lavender, Brut, Watermelon, Pear, Tangerine Vanilla, Blood Orange, Cranberry Vanilla, Pineapple Coconut, Strawberry - the Pina Colada and the Cider Donut are my favorite! You can mix and match cans in a 4 pack for $16 (otherwise it's $6/can) and buy a case at a 15% discount. Henway has been around in 2019, and wish I discovered it earlier! I used to always get the cider next door at Great Country Farms, it's so easy to miss! So glad I finally walked over to the Cidery for a tasting and bought a case with a 15% discount! It's also cheaper to buy directly from the cidery for a case vs Great Country Farms or Bluemont VIneyards (the price for $16/4 pack and $6/can is the same at all 3 locations). It's a nice cozy, rustic barn atmosphere overlooking a nice pond. There's plenty of indoor and outdoor seating. There are a couple of flights to choose from and a few seasonal and special reserve flavors along with a small food menu. I really enjoyed the unique tasting in Flight #2 and some of the Seasonal and Special Releases that aren't available in cans - Watermelon, Pear, Pineapple Coconut. They had subtle notes of the fruit flavor particularly with the Pineapple Coconut. The pear was my favorite. The watermelon had a sweet and sour taste like a Jolly Rancher. The manager, Scott was super hospitable and humble and chatted with us for a bit. I could really feel his passion for supporting the business and enjoying the products. Great guy! We had such a lovely experience that we came back a couple of weeks later to pick up another case of Cider Donut along with a 4 pack of Pina Colada cider! read more

We tried Henway after searching for cidery's in the DC area. We didn't expect that it was a full farm with a market and apple picking so it was a pleasant surprise to have all that available as well, especially since it is a journey from DC. They have indoor seating that is first come first serve and also a patio area. They have two preset flights that you can try, and you can not make any changes to the flights. That part was a bit of a bummer, it would have been nice to have a preset list that we could have picked from to have in the flight. You are able to buy the drinks in a can and can mix and match your cases. Highly recommend if looking for a family and pet friendly option. read more

I have been here twice, once pre-pandemic and once during the pandemic. It is near, like shared parking area and no street crossing necessary to go from one to the other, Great Country Farms. This is the second time a trip to the Great Country Farms wrapped up with a visit here. This time I got a bottle of the raspberry (I think) cider and a bowl of mac & cheese with pulled pork. It was a nice say and a great place to sit and chat with a couple a friends after our Great Country Farms exploration. Very glad we ventured out to celebrate a friends birthday and enjoy the beginning of fall. I am thinking about a late October visit with the hubby like we did last year, perhaps it could even before a regular thing. This is a really fun family place to go to. Our family went blackberry picking at Great Country Farms (same property) and came over to this Cidery to show off the chickens outside to our fur baby. He was mesmerized by the roosters instigating in. We came in and saw it was a dogs weekend. They had some vendors set up tents selling organic dog treats - and food. Inside - they had cidery tasting, a cute shop and a menu you as well as your pets could order off of. We were told of a dog photo competition they were having on Instagram, so we decided to have lunch and do a flight. I am personally not a cider person - but my bf did the cider flight and he enjoyed the variety and unique qualities that come from a tasting board. We ordered the Frisbee platter for the little one (in photos) and went around the outside and inside taking our best angled photo's for instagram. We have no idea who won the competition. Overall I would say it was a very fun family weekend and the Henway Cidery helped make it that way. They have social distancing enforced. An outdoor area around a man made pond, with lawn and patio seating as well as indoor seating. They have a lot of options for food and drink and on their social media pages they do a lot of events for dogs and children. I would highly recommend adding this to your activities list. read more

We visited Henway Hard Cider one sunny Sunday afternoon for a cider tasting! They had three hard ciders - and one Apple wine available - so we tasted them all! For some reason - there were no ABV ratings for their ciders - will have to ask them about that next time... We tasted: Brut Cider (5 stars on Untappd) Rose Cider (4.75 stars on Untappd) Pip Cider (3.75 stars on Untappd) Apple Wine (3.75 stars on Untappd) Everything was really tasty! My cousin had just moved from California so I was showing him around Loudoun county and it's rich culture when it comes to wine, beer, and cideries! I heard of Henway from my winery, Bluemont and so after visiting the winery, we decided to check out Henway before heading back to DC. Henway is located at the same land as Great Country Farms which is fairly easy to find. Parking is easy but may be hard during the day when all the families are there to go pumpkin picking, etc. They have inside and outside seating and bathrooms as well. Bathrooms are super clean so I appreciate that a lot. I'm not sure if they offer food but they should if they don't! We all got the cider flight, and it came with 3 ciders and 1 sampling of the apple wine. All the ciders were flavorful, light, and refreshing. This place is definitely perfect for summer, fall, and spring time. I'm sure winter can be ok too if you sit inside. It's a really relaxing feeling sitting outside by the pond and sipping on the ciders. I hope they do more exciting events soon, might get popping once they start getting more popularity especially that it's next to the farm. I would come back here again! I love coming here after the Great Country Farm. Very dog friendly and kids too. There's tons of outdoor seating around a small pond and inside seating as well. No reservations just walk in. They have cider flights and bottle as well as a small selection of wine too. They used to have grilled cheese but changed up their menu. This was a good find. We were leaving the BlueMont Vineyard and my wine pointed this out and we felt like we had to stop. The place has a lot of room inside. You walk to the front entrance, place your order, they prepare your drinks for you and you can sit inside or outside. We chose to sit outside. It had a wonderful water view of what I figured was an apple tree. The ciders that we had were all really good. The cinnamon one my wife had was off the charts good. But I had 4 different and they were all good. I'd recommend checking this place out. The guy at the cider said they obtain the cider juice from the orchard across the road. It's a large orchard. I visited Henway this past weekend with my parents and son. The main purpose was to grab lunch before GCF. If that is your plan, there are not many options beyond snacks. They have a few pizzas and a grilled cheese but that's it. The pepperoni pizza was good though. The atmosphere is 5/5 stars! It's super family friendly with a beautiful pond in the center where you can even fish! I noticed a sign saying no outside food but several families had their own picnics. I only tried the peach cider and the rose cider. The peach was quite sweet but still tasty. The rose was crisp. They had live music on the Saturday I visited. We had a lovely afternoon. Started with the flight but ended up falling in love with the Blood Orange cider. The food is pretty good. We had the pizza and the turkey sandwich and the pimento cheese and crackers. Quite the spread. They were understaffed. Waiting in the line when you have a tab is not fun. 20-30 minutes. The toilet paper ran out in the women's bathroom and it took a bit too long to get someone in there. The ladies were restless. There was guy playing a guitar and singing. Henway is probably one of my favorite getaway spots from the DC area, especially during COVID. There is a spacious patio and picnic tables, lots of room to distance, a large firepit area, and multiple interesting and unique ciders to try. The fresh countryside air is also a huge draw. I've tried their Semi Sweet, Ginger, Barrel Aged, and Blackberry Ginger ciders, and my favorite is the ginger cider. It has the perfect for me balance of mild sweetness and a decent ginger bite. Also up there is the barrel aged - a bit dryer but also surprisingly complex and a slight baked good flavor to it. Nice! Food is pricey but I end up ordering pretzels with pub mustard every time - they do rotate in new things every now and then so if you need a snack, they probably will have something to suit you. Gluten free options are also available which is good as well. Getting to Henway is also easy - It's close enough to the DC area that you can come out in the early afternoon, have a few drinks and some food, and have enough time to make it back in time for dinner. On nice weather days however, there can be a bit of a line getting back onto the freeway especially if many people are leaving. Budget a few extra minutes just in case. The parking lot is pretty big - a grass/gravel lot with lots of space to maneuver. Word of caution - it can get pretty muddy after it rains, so maybe wait to get a car wash until after visiting. read more

A wonderful spot for the whole family. Large lakeside building with ample outdoor seating. Masks are required inside the cider house when ordering beverages and food. Although I was not impressed by their ciders, they were all good, but one note with no complexity. My GF pepperoni pizza with the super thin crust- AMAZING! I really did I not expect much, but was blown away! The pimento cheese and crackers was good as well, plenty of crackers. I would recommend to allow the cheese to get up to room temperature for easier spreading. Crackers were not GF but the farm store next door had them for purchase! If you are interested in doing activities like the maze or hayrides, you will need to purchase tickets online prior to arrival, note- you may want to get them days in advance as they do sell out. The ambiance near the lake is welcoming, when I visited there was a band playing near a large fire pit. I would recommend bringing your own chair or picnic blanket as seating fills up quickly. Many like to linger and hang with friends as this is a great outdoor space to meet up. read more

We stumbled on this gem. Great vibe, but if you're not into drinking and being surrounded by TONS of rambunctious children, this may not be the spot for you. We always prefer cideries, breweries, wineries, bars that have adult only areas. Would be great if this place did as well. read more

My husband and I stopped by here after visiting Bluemont Vineyard, which is right down the street. We ordered a flight of cider (3 ciders and an apple wine from Bluemont). They have firepits outside and a beautiful lake. We were waiting for traffic to die down before heading back to Falls Church, so we ordered a glass of our favorite (the rose cider). The whole experience was a perfect end to our first day trip with our newborn! read more

This place is great! Masks were required inside when ordering, but there is a very large outdoor seating area that is both dog and kid friendly, where social distancing is very easy and no masks required. There is a nice vice of a big pond, and when we went there were some people fishing! We all got flights of cider. I tried the rosé, concord, peach, and semi-sweet. All were delicious, but the semi-sweet was definitely my favorite, so I got another glass of it. We also tried their soft pretzels that came with mustard and they were good! Definitely would have been better with a beer cheese of some sort. read more

Yikes the smell. Obviously their septic was backing up into the field. I walked from the parking lot over to the barn and saw pooling brown water but I just thought it was rain water. Nope it was sewage. The cider 5was fantastic but every few minutes sewage smell wafted over the table. It was awful. Great live music great cider but I will not go again. Let me start off by saying I really like their hard cider. We had reservations on Sunday for lunch around the pond/lake which included a glass of cider. We signed in and quickly the staff brought out our cider. But that is where the quickness ended, we waited for over an hour for our lunch. After seeing other tables order, eat and leave we asked how much longer it would be and 15 minutes later out came our "lunch". I want to say it was worth the wait but our lunch consisted of bread, prosciutto, cheese and apple slices. The bread was warm as well as the cheese and started to dry out around edges. We were given 2 free ciders as a consultation but by then we both were done and had to drive. I would have thought with reservations we would have been serve quick and the next time it says lunch included, I will investigate as to what that entails.
