I visited Bluemont Vineyard this past Saturday with two friends I don't get to see very often, and we had a great time. Northern Virginia has a lot of winery options, but Bluemont offers a few things that make it special. First of all, it's huge - tons of indoor and outdoor seating on two levels. They take reservations. We made for one for noon on Saturday. We were seated upstairs/indoors but eventually moved to their upstairs deck (we were there for hours and wanted a change of scenery). Their views are incredible. You can see the Blue Ridge Mountains from practically anywhere on the property! I hadn't seen my friends in months, so we stayed for almost five hours. We started with their white wine flight, and then we had a few bottles, too. We also ate (beef empanadas, a flatbread, and some black bean hummus). We enjoyed most of the wines (between the flights and bottles, I think we tried 6 whites and 1 rose), and the food was pretty good, too. The service was great - Lily and Rose were our servers (there was a shift switch, since we were there for almost 5 hours) and they were wonderful. They were a little busy downstairs when we arrived, but it's such a large space that there was plenty of seating for more. (It seems to be a spot on wine tours, because there were a few buses when we arrived.) I'm not sure if you really need a reservation, but I'm glad we had one since our plan was to eat lunch at the winery. We had a great time at the winery. But the highlight of Bluemont Vineyard is the property itself - the views, the space, and outdoor dining! read more

Beautiful property! My only critique is what while the ordering system is easy and convenient, it forces the staff to only come out when they bring an order. No one is roaming to see if tables need to be cleared or not. We had to go to the back and flag a staff member down. Wine was good and charcuterie board was delicious. I'd visit again. read more

We had a party of 10, had been sitting and ordering food and drinks for about an hour when a server (Brianna) came over to inform us that there was a private event and we needed to leave our table immediately. They did not help us find new tables or move our food and drinks. They did this to about 8 other tables nearby too. Have signage, be organized, don't come to paying patrons demanding we move in a tone like it's our fault. This is after we prepaid for food (with tip), some orders hadn't even arrived to the table yet. They told us have one person stay behind to wait for it... Just rude. I won't be back. read more

The best part of this vineyard is truly the views! We come here every summer specifically for the sangria, which is delicious and they don't sell in bottles unfortunately. Such a nice place to gather with friends and tons of outdoor seating. However, I'd get here as early as you can before it gets busy and before prime seating gets taken (aka seats with views!) parking also can become difficult during peak hours. read more

My cousin was visiting the US and wanted the opportunity to get some great fall views. I decided to take her on a little weekday trip out to Bluemont Vineyard after work, and it was the perfect option. The vineyard is only about an hour from DC, so it was super easy to get there and the views were spectacular! Once arriving, we were a little confused on where to go to park or get service, but eventually found it. The vineyard has two levels of seating and both indoor and outdoor areas. We started outside so we could enjoy the incredible fall scenery. The views of the rolling hills were breathtaking and probably the best part of the visit. It was a little chilly though, and the staff was happy to let us move inside without any fuss, which I appreciated. We shared a bottle of the 2024 Viognier called The Goat. It was described on the menu as having a nice floral aroma and a light white peach flavor. It was super light and refreshing and I thoroughly enjoyed each sip. For food, we ordered a margherita flatbread with pepperoni, followed by the crème brûlée cheesecake and the apple caramel pie. Everything hit the spot and paired well with the wine. Ordering is done by scanning a QR code at your table, and once we placed our order, the wine and food came out quickly. Where things slowed down was the follow-up service. Getting water refills or a couple extra plates took more effort than expected, and even after we finished the flatbread, the board sat on the table for quite a while before someone noticed. Also, everything was served with paper plates and plastic utensils, which made the experience feel a little more casual than the setting suggests. Overall, we still had a really enjoyable evening. The views alone make the trip worth it, and the wine and food were good as well. It was peaceful and not crowded at all on a weekday, though I can imagine weekends being much busier. I would love to return again, especially in the fall, just to take in that scenery over another glass of wine. read more

While visiting Virginia, we stopped by Bluemont Vineyard. The winery is nestled in the hills, which makes for beautiful views. While you ascend the hills, you are surrounded by rows of grapes. Once you reach the top, the building itself is quite large. On the first floor is a store and a patio. One the second floor, is the bar and a huge patio. We sat outside on the second floor and soaked in the area. Food They offer both dining and drink menus. We had plans of eating dinner after, so we only went for drinks. My wife and I split their Signature Wine Tasting Flight. The flight includes 6 wines that they select. It was a mix of three whites and three reds. I enjoyed most of them, but really enjoyed the Field Blend. So much so, that we bought a bottle on the way out. 4/5 Service We went later in the day, so there seemed to be less staff. Rather than staff lake your order outside, the tables have QR codes and you order online and give them the table number. You lose a bit of the human element that way and don't get staff's perspective on what is good. Everyone was friendly and our wines came out very quickly. 4/5 Ambiance The star of the show is the views. It was a perfect day outside, so you get a beautiful view of the surrounding area. The greenery and different colors from the farms paint a great picture. 5/5 We didn't come to the area expecting to find a nice vineyard, but we did. Bluemont is worth checking out. A few years ago, I went here for my best friend's bachelorette party. We had several flights and had an amazing time. Yesterday, my boyfriend was planning to take me to a vineyard, however the one we originally had in mind was closed. We opted into going to Bluemont and it was just as amazing. Food wise, we did their California flatbread and added pepperoni (since my boyfriend is a meat lovers pizza guy). We also did their red and white wine flights. For the reds, I enjoyed their rose and summit and for the white wines I like their petit. For beverages, they were self served at the counter however for food they had a QR code at the tables where you could place your order online. Food came out fairly quickly. It's a beautiful view of the vineyard since you're seated at the top of a Mountain View. Wonderful concept for a wedding venue too. read more

The view is spectacular! An impromptu decision on a Friday. It was a nice way to end the week. I had guests in town and wanted to take the somewhere different. The property is gorgeous and didn't disappoint. Since they have events, it's not always possible to sit indoors. You have to sit outdoors. I recommend calling ahead of time to verify indoor vs outdoor seating if this is a concern for you. I wasn't too much of a fan that we in had outdoor seating. You order from a QR to order flights, glasses, bottles of wine and small bites/desert. I got a red wine flight. The wine was ok. The red options were fruity, dry and smoky (I'll add a picture of my flight). We were one of the earlier arrivals so everything came out promptly. I hope they have outdoor heaters in the future as the weather gets colder. Overall, I thought it was a nice venue. read more

Update December 2025: Bluemont Vineyard continues to be a fun place for unique experiences like Christmas cookie wine pairings. The cookie and wine selection were great. All but the gingerbread cookies were made in house. They have a good selection of wines and the staff are very helpful and friendly. The pairing was in their event space called The Stable. It is such a cute space and would obviously be perfect for large events. Their main building is quite a place as well with plenty of seating inside and out. They have a picnic area out front as well. They have a good selection of white and red wines, though I prefer reds. Their Syrah is probably my favorite right now. I definitely plan to comeback again soon. Fantastic winery on the way back from hiking! The views here are amazing! There's plenty of seating and tables with umbrellas available, lots of Adirondack chairs on the grass as well. I also loved being able to order food and drinks here, the menu is pretty big compared to some of the other wineries I've been to. Pizza was ok but the charcuterie board and the dip were delicious! Make sure to order the sangria as well, it's soooo goood it's deadly! Order using the QR code on the table. There's takeout containers available for any leftovers as well. To end our Valentine's weekend, my husband surprised me with a visit to Bluemont Vineyard for their Chocolate Truffle and Wine pairing experience. This was my first visit to the vineyard, and although the weather wasn't cooperating - it luckily didn't take from the beauty of the grounds, and the stunning views. The chocolate and wine pairing experience itself was A LOT of fun. We sampled 4 different chocolates from The Conch chocolatiers; and 5 different wines from the Bluemont Vineyard. The service and level of detail delivered as we sample each wine and chocolate was superb. We learned a lot about the uniqueness of each of the wines we tried, as well as the individual nuances with the process with making each of the wines available. After the experience - we decided to have lunch! The Cast Iron Meatballs were not only an amazing portion size, they were equally as tasty... And the star of the show was the Prosciutto Arugula Flatbread, which we'll definitely be coming back for! Overall, we had a great time at Bluemont and will definitely be back, hopefully when the weather's better; so we can walk around the grounds a little and enjoy their different outdoor spaces. read more

Nice vineyard with good views and wine, the food is a bit pricey. The Summer Peach wine and the Petite Manseng were both good. The Charcuterie Board fell a bit short. While I enjoyed the warm baguette with apple cream cheese and apple butter - the smoked gouda, gruyere, cured meats, olives, and pickled veggies were largely untouched. I wish there were more softer cheeses, crackers, and butter for the bread. It felt like there were a few things missing from the board. They have good brunch-style flatbreads over the weekend. The woman who served us seemed quite young (maybe a college student?) and didn't have much knowledge on the food or the wines. While the experience was fine, it wasn't spectacular and not quite worth the hype of one of VA's best wineries. I really like the Henway Cider next door and Bear Chase right up the road. read more

Checked in for our reservation and right from the start, the experience was disappointing. We specifically reserved outdoor seating, but the host never mentioned we'd be seated inside instead. When we were seated, all she did was explain how to order on the app--no welcome, no asking if it was our first time, nothing. We had no idea it was basically self-service. No one told us we had to grab our own utensils, napkins, or even water. It felt very unwelcoming, like she either didn't care or just didn't want to be there. When our drinks and food came, we had to ask for plates. Then we asked for napkins--she said she'd be back but never returned. When more food arrived, we asked again for napkins and utensils, and she just pointed and said, "it's over there." Good to know... I guess? Overall experience: hard pass. Not coming back. read more

Love this place. One of the best, if not THE best, vineyard views in the area, rivaled mayyyybe only by Stone Tower. The only thing I didn't like is that we didn't find a live tasting flight option. Instead, they'll give you your flight of 6 tastings to take to your table. They do stay open later than a lot of vineyards in the area, but make sure to check when the sun goes down, because they didn't have lights come on in the outdoors and it was VERY dark! Our party of four had two signature wine tastings and two white wine tasting. For $20, the amount per tasting was a little small. The wines were all decent-- we each had a different favorite so hard to say which is the best. If you like white wine, my favorite was "The Cow." There's a little market place that you can purchase wine, wine gummies, merchandise, etc. at. Decided to drive out to Bluemont on a Monday afternoon after hearing about this place. Parking was ample driving in! I sat on the upstairs patio. There were a few couples coming in and out over my 2 hour visit. I tried the white wine flight as well as the crab dip. The crab dip had great flavor and the bread that came with it was warm with a crunchy exterior and soft inside! Perfect for dipping. The wines I tried were okay. I'm not a huge fan of white wines but wanted to try something lighter since I had to make the drive back. The views: fantastic and so peaceful. Bluemont Vineyard provides a great escape from the DC metro area, with lovely views and lots of outdoor seating in a nice space. The tasting room is at the top of a steep hill, giving way to scenic views of rural Virginia. Squint hard on a clear day, and you can see some of the taller buildings all the way out at Tyson's Corner (or maybe it was Reston?) from here. The views and the peaceful open patio seating are the best part of coming here, in my opinion. The wine itself was fine, they have a nice variety of reds, whites, and interesting seasonal glasses, in addition to bottles for sale. Flights are pretty straightforward, and a fun way to try multiple varieties in one sitting. The service leaves a little to be desired, it's a bit chaotic ordering, and parking is also a bit of a mess. But still definitely a nice change of pace from DC, only about an hour away by car! read more

This is a gorgeous winery with views for days. It was a Sunday and we had a reservation for 11am (it seemed to be the only slot left on their website). When we arrived, the place was practically empty which made me wonder how the reservation options were so barren. Maybe they hold some spots open for walk-ins? That said, by the time we left around 1:30, the place was pretty packed. I have to say, the star of the show here is really the views. The wine left much to be desired. I disliked all the wines in the mixed flight with the exception of the Albariño. After that, I had a glass of red that I did enjoy (the name is escaping me) but probably only because I was with my wine expert friend who knows exactly what to order for me. The service was slow outside with a long line forming. It seemed there was a newer person working that day. The wind was incredibly strong on this day, so strong that glasses from the upper deck were whisked off the table and smashed onto the patio below. Good thing no one was sitting down there or it would've been a nightmare situation. I'm glad I stopped by for the views but I've had better service and better wines at other wineries in the area. I would come back but probably avoid the flight and stick with that I know next time. read more

The views are amazing! Picture perfect!! Played hooky on a warm autumn day and made a trip here. Didn't need a reservation but maybe on weekends it might be better to do that. The place is huge but the parking doesn't seem as ample. The service was ok. Our group of three did flights. There was no real explanation or friendliness from the staff. Just handed the wines to us. We also ordered some bites. They were out of the baked brie, which I wanted to try. The buffalo dip and hummus tray were good. The wines were just ok. I enjoyed the rose (donkey) the most. Not enough to get a bottle to take home with me. The reason for my rating - the bugs!! It was overbearing and made the experience less pleasant. Overall, we (a party of eight) had a grand time at Bluemont, which was the 1st stop of our wine-tasting tour. First, I thought the views and the grounds were absolutely breathtaking. I don't think reservations are required, but it's probably best to have one especially when the weather is nice. Pretty much everyone at our table did the 6 wine flight - Albariño, Petit Maseng, Rose "The Donkey", Farm Table Red, Merlot, and Peptit Vedot. To be perfectly honest, I was not blown away by any of the wines. However, I did enjoy the Albariño and ordered a bottle to drink when enjoying the ambiance. To help soak up some of our wine, we ordered the Brunch Board which supplied us with sausage, bacon, waffles, french toast, donuts, muffins, and danish. You definitely will get your $42 worth with the Brunch Board. Put it like this, it was eight of us, and there was still food left over...although I think a lot of us were being "shy" with how much we really wanted to eat. ;) While there is table service, it's a bit interesting because a server will bring your wine, but you have to pick up your food. Speaking of service, our waiter was pretty good with keeping tabs on us. I will say that I thought it was a little strange that a server did not give a brief explanation of the wines in the flight. However, this was not a big deal because the flight cards had ample information about the six wines. All in all, I cannot wait until the next time I have the opportunity to visit the Bluemont again Perhaps, I'll even look into one of their experiences like the adult corn maze, grape stomping, and the German Christmas Market. read more

The food was amazing. We went there for a wine tasting it was only $25 per person including taxes and fees and we got to try 6 different wines. We also ordered food and the food blew our expectations. We got the roasted Brie cheese (without almonds) and the spinach artichoke dip. It came with a warm fluffy baguette (3 total). The spinach artichoke dip was amazing it was cheesy and not oily like most artichoke dips. The Brie was warm and roasted and It had a sweet jam that added to the flavor and experience. I'd heard great things about this winery-- it was supposed to be the highlight of our day trip and instead it wasn't just the worst winery experience of the day, it was the worst winery I've ever been to. I made a reservation for a party of 12 and was charged about $25 a head (including 18% tip) deposit that would go toward our bill. We were sat inside in a large area that essentially had no windows (or none that you could actually see out of while sitting). We put in an order of drinks and then basically never saw our server again during our two hour reservation. No one checked in to see how we liked our drinks or whether we wanted to order more. I had a glass of the Viognier, which I actually enjoyed quite a bit, but everyone who ordered flights didn't have many positive things to say. A couple girls looked at the menu and were going to order food...personally, I was planning on desert. But again, there would have had to be a human around for us to put in an order. About an hour and a half in I went to use the restroom. At which point I realized that the smaller dining room facing the patio was COMPLETELY empty. The patio had maybe 2 two tops.... and was entirely empty. Complete w a gorgeous view. When I asked for the check, they tried to charge me full price (I.e., without including the $300 deposit I already paid). So to recap- horrible seating (just because), horrible (non existent) service while charging 18% grat, and shameless attempt at taking advantage of the customer by double charging. It's a no for me. Edited to add - they charged us gratuity TWICE. And calculated it including the balance that we already tipped on (including the original tip). Like we tipped on the value we had already paid (including the first tip). WOW. Receipts attached. read more
