She was kind, sweet, attentive and definitely a good up salesman. The sheer amount of time that they allowed us to occupy a table here was truly impressive. Nobody was rude or kicked us out. Love going to Henry's.... Such a beautiful gathering tavern/ restaurant. On this particular day there was a singer/guitarist playing in the corner... I wouldn't say they have a singer there every day, but they do have one there often. On holidays such as St. Patrick's Day or other holidays, Henry's is packed and I mean packed is very hard to find a parking space near this restaurant many times because downtown Boston Spa is very condensed and busy . Usually our favorite spot. Worst service, food and drink on st pattys day of all days for this place. Corned beef was tough, Irish nachos had barely anything on them. Service forgot us multiple times and had to keep asking what we needed. Can't say anything about their food because we left after being ignored for 15 minutes. Well, not totally ignored. A server looked at us with a face of not wanting to be bothered. She got her wish, if that was the intent. Little bit of advice: don't go into the service field if you can't be kind to hungry people... people on vacation who drove 3 hours up here, and spent the day at the track - as is our tradition with our 87 year old father, who needed to cross the road and step up the curb in his walker just to get to the table. I got a Bloody Mary, and it was perfectly made with some great toppings (including their addicting maple bacon). My experience this time from my previous experience was a complete change. There was a table by the fire but it was occupied. This would be the ideal place to sit on a January afternoon. So be the ideal table was not available we took a high top close by. The atmosphere was nice. Plenty of tvs to choose from. We did not order any drinks as we had some errands to finish. We first ordered the poutine. First we love poutine and we planning to order it. We asked our server what we should get and the poutine was her first answer. She also offered that she was from French Canada and they poutine was not like her grandma made but it was close. The gravy was nice I could not tell if it's homemade or from a jar. The fries were crispy on the outside. There's enough cheese curds that with the heat of the fries the cheese melted. I used the napkin multiple times. Using a napkin multiple times is a good sign. We both got chicken sandwiches. Mine was served on a hamburger bun, but my most favorite bread. Actually it's probably my least favorite. The sandwich was flavorful but the chicken was a little over cooked and tough. I had Cole slaw on the side. There was something different about the Cole slaw. It was creamy but not crisp and was missing a little bite, possibly more vinegar. The best part of the meal was our server. We stopped in for dinner around 5pm on a Wednesday night & were able to be seated right away. It's a smaller restaurant and I wouldn't try having more than a party of 4 without reservations. Given how small it is inside, my family & I were surprised with the lengthy times between placing orders and receiving items. We placed our drink order, those took about 10 mins to come out. Placed our apps, than placed and received a second order of drinks before the apps came out. Placed the entree orders, waited a more fair amount of time for those, then waited a significant amount of time for boxes and for our check. Service is not quick here, that's for sure. Regarding the food, portions are large! For apps we split the garlic bread & the bacon wrapped scallops. The garlic bread was a hit with everyone. The scallops had a sauce on them that had some spice to it; my mom wasn't a fan but my dad didn't mind it. For entrees my dad had the chicken cordon bleu which he said was under seasoned. My mom had the fish and chips; she said they were alright but not sure she would stop here for them when she's in the mood for fish & chips again. I got the mushroom & asparagus risotto without chicken; it was quite filling & well made, but needed some salt & pepper. The drink selection seemed a bit limited. They had one cider on tap and did not have a white Zinfandel wine option at all. Signature cocktails didn't really stand out; my mom tried the Pineapple Express but she said the lime juice gave it a tartness that was a bit overpowering. My dad enjoyed his 7&7s; they were just $6 so not badly priced. All in our total came to $125 before tip for 3 people (2 apps, 3 entrees, 6 drinks) so prices seemed very fair for the most part. This is Henry's Tavern's kitchen. If you look in person you will see food, dead bugs and general filth in the windows. Some days they have the kitchen door to the outside open, I have seen employees smoking cigarettes in the kichen and more filth inside. For the reason I will not eat there. Its sad because it looks decent inside the dining area and its in a great location but I can't see how it passes a health inspection. read more

I had orange citrus salmon - and I'm from the southern coast of Bama where we are picky about how fresh our fish is - and this was really good! Hubby had New York strip and was apparently tasty because his plate is empty!! I also love that they cook veggies al dente and not mushy! I tried the Lake George Cider Project - I now have a new cider as a go-to!! Honestly, smooth and mildly sweet and best I've had in a long time! Pistachio cheesecake anyone?
