A month later--still no response from management--3 night stay... July 22-24 2026 On the last night, another guest across from my room had a very loud party room 201. He had guests coming in and out of the room till 6 am and played the music very loudly. The staff did not address the noise levels all night long. Another guest from the upper floor had to bang on their door to get them to stop playing the extremely loud music. It is an open concept lobby and l am sure they heard all the commotion. The hotel staff in charge that evening did not seem to address the commotion. I did not rest all night long. When I complained to front desk in the morning they merely apologized for the disruption and thanked me for bringing it to their attention. They already had records of the incident because it was in their logged computer records from the night staff so thanking me for bringing it to their attention was very lacking in customer service and care. It was not until I mentioned speaking with management that they elevated the issue and extended our stay till 2pm. They were insincere and did not handle the situation adequately. My husband asked the manger to call him and in lieu of a call the manager sent a very generic response which was unsigned. He followed up by asking for a call and their name and has not been respond to. Very unprofessional management. Extremely disappointed. read more

Staying at the Henry Norman always tricks me into thinking I could easily move back to New York. It's elegant yet homey and exactly the feel I want from a hotel. The location is perfect and very walkable. It's not right near a subway, yet not too far either - which encourages a welcome stroll in the neighborhood. The front desk staff is friendly and helpful - and I have to give a special shout out to housekeeping because the rooms are IMMACULATE. That alone goes a long way for me. What an amazing place! Stayed here for Valentine's day while out in Williamsburg and was blown away by the hotel's charm, cleanliness, amazing service and very cute touches. Having stayed mostly in big brand hotels in the past, this boutique hotel absolutely blew me away! I booked the deluxe room suite, which was massive and even had a full kitchen. I took full advantage and cooked a steak dinner and french toast breakfast! As for amenities, some of my favorites include a nice stocked gym and a sauna/steam room! Another one of my favorite aspects was the Manhattan skyline view as the Empire State building was in full effect with glowing red lights that evening. This is a pricey hotel converted from a textile mill. It has an abundance of charm and is spacious; however, the electrical outlets are woefully inadequate for charging devices, one of which was a cooler for refrigerated medication. The safe was located on the closet shelf and could only be accessed by someone well over six feet or by standing on a chair. Ditto for the towel hook on the door. dispensers for shampoo, soap, and lotion have replaced the small bottles in hotels, everywhere, but the Henry Norman chose to put the soap dispenser over the toilet tank a good five feet away from the sink. There was adequate space to the left of the sink on the wall to put this. What kind of idiot did the planning for this? There was no plug in the bathtub for bathing small children or yourself, and you needed the arms of an orangutan to reach the soap dispenser. We were there for a wedding, and I was very disappointed in the many shortcomings. read more

Stayed here twice, most recently last week. By far my favorite place in NYC. The rooms are decorated so well, great amenities, nice staff. More like a small studio vs a hotel room. Location is okay, the G is the closest train about 12 minutes away but there's a ton of places within that 12 minutes you could also visit. I don't like that the TV doesn't allow for casting/mirroring. The flooring is also very uneven in some areas and this was the case in two different rooms. Most recent visit was louder than the last and I'm not sure if it was the guests or the staff. Overall, if you want to be off the island and near LGA, stay here. read more

Such a fun and trendy hotel! Came to BK for the weekend to attend a show and so glad we booked a room here! There's plenty of street parking and the hotel is very easy to locate. If your into the house club scene this is a perfect hotel to stay at since it's about 10min away from Avant Gardner. Front desk was very friendly and welcoming and before checking out they recommended some local coffee shops to stop at. There's a complimentary continental breakfast station which a nice little surprise. As far as our room goes, it was soooo spacious, clean, smelled really good, and it was quiet! We didn't hear any noise in the halls or from outside. I was really taken back by how much space there was and how high the ceilings were. Felt like we were renting a loft apartment as opposed to go staying in a hotel. If we are ever in the BK area again we will for sure be staying here again! read more

We stayed here this summer. We were in one of the rooms on the ground floor. It was a really large room, especially for NYC. It was a little bit of a basement feel, but at the same time, nicely decorated. The hotel itself was nicely decorated as well, and the check-in staff and evening staff were really great. We really enjoyed using the outdoor deck space. We purchased a bottle of wine and were given glasses to take up with us. The view was really beautiful. If you don't mind doing a lot of walking (which I imagine you are ready for on a city adventure), the location is good, with quite a few options. However, I did have to take a star out for the check-out clerk. He was rude and snooty as we left 2 minutes (yes, literally only 2 minutes) past the checkout time on a Sunday. I don't think it was necessary, especially for an off the beaten path location like this, and it REALLY turned me off to this spot. read more

Rude and unprofessional staff at front desk. Weirdly hostile, i left wondering what i'd ever done to them. Also liars, i tried to extend my stay for a night, must have been the only one staying in the hotel or thats what it felt like, and the woman at the front says "sorry were all full" i couldn't believe it but left and checked online, sure enough they're are a million vacancies. I don't get it, maybe laziness or just bad at their job but whoever is in charge should think about restaffing with actual professionals if they want to charge what they are charging. read more

I stayed here for work. It was in fun little hotel. It is a bit off the beaten path, but I enjoyed the neighborhood. I took a Citi bike a couple of days, and you can also walk to the subway. Please stay away from this hotel if you don't want to get scammed. Long and short of it is... I'm bringing in a group from Japan. Plans changed and I needed a larger room. I booked insurance for this booking and was told by Expedia that the hotel refused to refund the room but if I cancelled I could use the insurance. Cool. Not the hotels problem. I cancelled the room and the insurance company denied my claim. Also not the hotels problem. I was told by Expedia I could call the hotel myself, and that Expedia would waive all fees associated with this booking if the hotel would refund the room. I called the number given by Expedia and was promptly hung up on without saying a word. So I called the front desk and asked if I could speak with a manager about a booking dispute. Instantly the response was "yo yo yo first off what dispute are you crying about?" I was floored at that level of unprofessionalism from Martin. Especially for a hotel charging almost 400 a night. I collected myself and explained my situation and was told to email the hotel. Which I did. Awhile later another person from the hotel called and offered to refund the room as long as I agreed to book THE SAME ROOM with them at their rate of 600 dollars. I would rather light 200 dollars on fire than give any money to this scam of a hotel. Not only were they extremely unprofessional. But from reading reviews it seems that Martin has worked there much longer than the two weeks he told me. Liars and thieves. The photos of the hotel look nice, unfortunately I will never know. The decor is FABULOUS! I booked this room on expedia. It is Located in Williamsburg, which is very yuppie, and gentrified, so I must have received a discount. It is Located in an industrial neighborhood, so I heard trucks driving by all night. My room is also in the basement, when I would have preferred to be on the ground level. You have to put $250 on hold on your card, in case you order food or drinks at the hotel. It is a 19 minute-walk from Brooklyn Bowl. I was in town for a concert there. I could hear my neighbors at night also, AND smell the MJ they were smoking! Continental breakfast is from 8-10a. It's basically pastries. read more

In just one recent stay here, this fast became one of my all time favorite boutique hotels, especially in New York. Although as far as location it's a bit off the beaten path, which I see as a plus, and can be tricky to find initially, it is worth discovering and definitely a special place to stay. When I first entered the lobby exterior and then the actual lobby, I knew it was doing something different, with its hardwood floors, soaring ceilings, unique large pieces of art throughout, and touches of whimsy. It only got better and more pleasantly surprising when I entered the room to find the same wood floors and high ceilings, along with an apartment like feel that included a separate lounge area and outdoor seating area either attached to your room (depending on room selection and price), or nearby down the hallway. Just as impressive is the staff. They are kind, helpful and responsive. read more

How does this hotel have a single positive rating? Is everyone who rated it good hard of hearing? This is by far the loudest hotel I have ever stayed in. Who has wood floors!? It was a nightmare. Neighbors dropping crap at 3 am, doors slamming, constant banging noises. A family member had an internal room on the courtyard which is their "quiet" section and she too found it unbearable. This property looks gorgeous online. I booked a room via Booking.com for an upcoming birthday a month in advance. Today, a week before my stay I was called/texted multiple times by the hotel. When I called them back I was asked a series of questions and I was told that I would be staying at The Box hotel instead. When I asked why, the rep blamed it on COVID, stating that The Box is their sister hotel and that they move people there at their whim. I am familiar with The Box hotel and did not like any of the rooms available. I chose Henry Norman because I liked their setup and wanted their specific penthouse. It sounds like they are pulling the old switch-a-room trick. The rep stated that there are no rooms at the Henry Norman and that all guest are being moved. I find that hard to believe and if that is the case then remove the listing from Booking.com. I understand that companies are trying to recoup losses but tricking customers isn't the way to go about it. So much for my birthday staycation. read more

Great location, very clean room, super friendly staff. I would happily return to this hotel. We were given a free upgrade to a room with two terraces. The room was spacious and neatly designed. One terrace had a Manhattan skyline view and the other had an east facing view of the Kosciuszko Bridge. A great and unexpected upgrade. Very responsive and helpful staff, our thermostat was stuck and it was swiftly fixed. While the location in Greenpoint is a little remote, the hotel is close to Laguardia (20 minute cab ride) and a pleasant 10 minute walk to the Nassau Ave subway station. Staff also are available to give free shuttle service within a mile of the hotel. This is a great service and the driver gave us some neighborhood recommendations, but the neighborhood is very walk-able as well. read more

The staff is great, but the location is not. Very few restaurants in the area. Noisy, industrial neighbors -- "backing-up beeps" from busses start at 6 am and don't end til after 11. The rooms are new and hip, but lack small "luxuries" like a shelf near the sink to place toiletries. It's the little things, but it's quickly noticeable when you want to bush your teeth and there's no room to put your tube of toothpaste. Also, BYO hand lotion. They don't give you little bottles. I really wanted to like this place, and the staff is generous and courteous, but a quiet room is a must-have for a hotel, and this place lacks in that department. Bottom line. Cool hotel, nice staff, not the best location. Ask for a room that doesn't face the street. It makes a world of difference in terms of noise. read more

This hotel is located in Greenpoint- walking around there seemed to be a polish influence based on local businesses. The room was really big- think small studio- kitchenette, sofa area with flatscreen TV- It had these crazy high ceilings. This is a boutique hotels, so if you normally do large chains this is not for you. Also-(as noted in other reviews)- you do hear outside noise. It's located smack dab in the middle of a neighborhood with industrial buildings nearby- so there seemed to be traffic noises that happened pretty early and late. It was very clean and very comfortable. I loved the shampoo, lotion, conditioner, and shower gel setup- it contained essential oils and smelled great. It is away from the Manhattan area, so you need to know this going in, but the nearest subway(Nassau G rain) is about .4 miles away. There are lots of places to eat on Manhattan ave and Nassau- short walk about .5 miles away. I ate at Scalinos for dinner and again at lunch the next day- It was soooo good. I chose this hotel on the backend of a trip(return home) because it is close to LGA. It was a $30 UBER ride from the hotel, but knowing what I know now- you could take the train(if you don't have much luggage). This hotel was beautifully decorated and had a great feel. This will be my go to when iN New York. read more

I stayed at this fantastic quirky boutique hotel last December. This place is simply gorgeous, the decor is amazing, the furnishings extremely comfy - particularly the bed which is like one big marshmallow. It is everything you want from a hotel! It has all the amenities and is like your own New York apartment. The staff were exceptionally friendly - I was a bit cheeky and asked them each morning the best routes to get places. They were very knowledgable and it saved me getting the wrong subway train and getting lost. The 'shuttle' (which is a stunning leather interior BMW) is a great complimentary service and will take you anywhere in the local vicinity - up to 2 miles I think. But beware that this stops at 10:45. I didn't realise this and got stranded one night! Luckily we managed to flag a taxi. The shuttle to the subway takes roughly about 5 mins and the subway takes 10 mins to times square... so it is really well located and not as far out as you may think. You can of course walk to some nearby subway stops too. Greenpoint is really up and coming. Make sure to visit some of the local bars and eateries! The hotel will give you a fab little makeshift booklet at the beginning of your stay which details the local restaurants and bars. Some even give discounts to HN guests. We even ordered pizza to the hotel one night and got 15% off. I must also recommend the donut shop 'Moe's Doughs Donuts' which is a couple of minutes drive away - lovely pastries and donuts and a great little home run business. The best thing about this hotel? My partner proposed to me whilst in NY and the hotel helped him prepare the room for when we got back. This was a lovely touch and made the night even more magical. Also the views from the balconies are simply stunning - day and night. I imagine them to be brill in the summer when you could sit out with a bottle of wine. A bit too chilly to do that in december though! Maybe a nice hot coffee instead (yes this is complimentary too!). The hotel is in the middle of building a bar, it will make this wonderful hotel even better and from what I could see it's going to be great. read more

I love certain things about this hotel and want to start with that. I have stayed at this hotel two separate times. Pros 1. Beautifully decorated hotel. It feels like somewhat of an oasis from the busy bustle of city life. 2. The rooms are spacious and beds and bedding super comfortable. 3. Most of the staff was excellent! 4. They have a shuttle service that will drop you anywhere within the mile and pick you up. Makes getting around super easy and makes for easy access to the subway if you don't want to walk that far. Overall, I really enjoyed my stay here. But the cons is what soured my taste and what makes me reconsider if I'll stay here next time. Cons: 1. The noise The first time I stayed, I was on the side near the bus depot. Had no idea this was here. But I heard beeping all night long. It was sort of awful. Chalked it up to big city noises oh well. The second time I stayed here, I requested the other side of the hotel which they accommodated graciously. I expected there to be less noise. The first night there I was so tired from flying, I didn't hear anything. The second night though was another story. All night I heard a bump bump from the outside street. Apparently, there is a problem with the street and any time a truck goes over it, you hear this loud boom boom sound. Couldn't sleep a wink. Finally passed out at 7am, only to be awoken by the loud slamming of doors from the other hotel patrons. The doors don't have a quiet close and it's more than the average hotel door shutting sound. 2. When asked how my stay was going, I mentioned to the staff that the second night I noticed a lot of noise. Perhaps they could provide sound machines? The young employee then quipped, "did you call down to let us know there was a problem?" I was a little taken aback. I am supposed to call at 3am to complain about outside noises from trucks on the street? I walked away feeling like what the hell was that? He said something about earplugs. I didn't pay $250/ night to stuff earplugs in my ears because someone didn't put in better windows. I told them when I went down the next morning. I stayed for all of two days. I didn't think it was handled appropriately. The minimum could have been, I'm so sorry the noise was awful! Here's a bottle of water or something. Don't guilt me for not complaining at 3am like I didn't do my job. Bummer that the hotel stay ended on that note. read more

My friend and I were so looking forward to staying at this hotel - online it seemed nice, clean and most importantly safe (we are two women in our early 20's for reference) we arrived at the hotel after a late bus ride to the city and instantly we were turned away from checking in due to our age. The minimum check-in policy for this hotel was 25 and older which we would understand had it been publicized and told to us prior to checking in and booking with this hotel?? We only first heard of this requirement upon checking in at 12am in the morning. Not only did the hotel turn us away, but they basically did little to nothing to find us an alternative hotel for the night. The receptionist called two places and gave up after that and left us on our own. At this point, it was super late at night and we had nowhere to stay, and no help for this hotel on figuring out another situation for us. I am so deeply disappointed in the customer service we received here, I recently will not be recommending this place and have zero intention of staying here when I am 25 (for reference, I am 24 and they did not accept that) if you have another hotel in mind, I suggest you go with that option instead of this one. The cherry on top of this situation is that the hotel did not offer us a refund, they told us to get in contact with the third party booker to get a refund. When we reached out to the third party booker, they were unable to get in contact with this hotel to even issue a refund. Super unprofessional, do not recommend! read more

After staying in Midtown Manhattan for a week, this hotel was a breath of fresh air. Friendly laidback welcome. Got a perfectly decorated, spacious cozy room and it felt like home right away. They really pay attention to detail here. Great minibar and snack selections, fully equipped kitchen, there's a rooftop! Staying with my husband and kiddos here was just perfect! Would definitely stay again. Walking distance to great food spots and parks. (Check out Peter Pan for donuts, bagels and coffee) Found plenty for the kids to do too. The decor of the hotel is amazing. The staff is very attentive and pleasant. Other reviews complained about the noise from the buses & trucks, which isn't my issue, it's the individuals that are in the room 314 that won't stay still still so I can sleep longer is my issue. If you don't want to hear other guest walking, ask for a room on the fourth floor. The room has a mini bar, snacks & well stocked fridge all for a price of course. Read other reviews that their are no toiletries which is true but I don't care. Bathroom is basic except for the shower head which is amazing. The hotel does not have a food area or bar or anything of that nature. It is away from the main road but close enough to a variety of eateries. They offer a shuttle with is basically a cab service to take you anywhere you want to go within a one mile radius. There is a seating area on the lower level as well as a fitness certain & sauna. Again my only issue is the guest above me that seem to wake up with the sun. Other than that, I think you would be pleased with your stay here. You may have to travel a bit to get places but I believe it's worth it while staying here read more

Just got back from a long weekend visit to NY (Brooklyn). Stayed, again, at the Henry Normal Hotel - which just solidified the fact that we are raving fans of this place. Such a quaint, boutique hotel - the staff are amazing, so friendly and responsive - the rooms sparkling are clean, very spacious (which is unheard of in NY) and have modern/hip furniture and fascinating decor with all amenities you may need. The bathroom was very clean with an incredible sunken shower and rainfall shower head. They even have a shuttle car service that will take you anywhere within a mile or so of the hotel (it is a bit off the beaten path). Excellent service from arrival to departure. It was a true pleasure to stay here, cannot recommend enough! read more

I cannot say enough great things about this hotel. We needed a place close to our friend's wedding that was affordable and had at least two beds in some fashion, be it couch/fold out couch, and bed, or whatever for me, my sister, and my baby. We got there after a nightmare of a night before (a tree randomly fell in my neighborhood so I had no power, no way to wash myself, and had to drive through my yard to escape my house) a flight delay and I looked as bedraggled as I felt. The lady at the counter was SO SWEET. She let us in our room a few hours early, gave us an upgraded room, and made sure there was a pack and play set up for the baby. I BLESS HER SOUL ALL OF THE TIME. SHE MADE EVERYTHING BETTER THAT DAY. The room was huge, and lovely! And it had a little kitchen, the lady said we would need one for the baby (BLESS YOU AGAIN) and we did. The pack and play was a life saver too. Every time we went somewhere they would ask if it was close, and if we wanted a free ride. UM YES THANK YOU. They would drive you anywhere within something like a 5 mile radius? Check with them on that, but it was much better than hailing a taxi, which there weren't many lurking near the hotel. (And there aren't many hotels in the entire area that aren't massively expensive or the YMCA, which was presented to me so many times for my price range, gulp!) We go to visit our friends in the area often and definitely plan on staying here again. read more

We stayed here this past weekend, and overall enjoyed it. However, as previous reviews have stated, the noise from the bus depot across the street (facing the front entrance of the hotel) is terrible. Started early/6-ish in the morning (on a Saturday), and ran throughout the day. We thought Sunday would be better, but it seemed as if one of the drivers left his bus in reverse, and the beeping went on for about 1/2 hour right around 6AM. No relief. Other than that, the room was reasonably priced, spacious, and comfortable. I thought the decor was cool, and obviously a lot of $ was invested into this place. Staff was nice, and courteous, but I think they've heard complaints about the bus noise frequently, and couldn't give any feedback about it. In the future, I would stay here, but never again in a room facing the front street-not worth it at all. This place has the potential to be "THE" place to stay in Greenpoint, but they really need to work on that noise. If nothing else, insulating screens/shutters/glass on those front windows (removable/hinged so as not to ruin their decor) would at least show they're trying to address the noise issue. read more

I was excited to book with this hotel for a special trip I was taking to New York with my daughter. The booking was thru Expedia. It was suppose to be "Book now, buy later" where you pay when you arrive. The hotel did not abide by these stated rules and took a deposit out of my checking account. They said it was to hold the room. They did not budge and didn't care that I canceled my reservation. I was very disappointed in this very poor customer service. I have never felt this way about a hotel before but I LOVED my stay. The hotel is gorgeous and unique. A former warehouse, it now lives in as a home away from home for guests in Greenpoint. The rooms are beautiful and comfortable and feel spacious (not an easy feat in the city) and there are little touches everywhere you look. There is a loft feel and high ceilings, exposed brick and beautiful, interesting decorations blew me away. And, I practically felt like a princess. The front desk staff is simply the best I have ever encountered in all of my travels. These young people are professional, funny, smart and kind and made me feel completely at home. They have a shuttle service that can help a guest get around quickly and it was a huge bonus for me. I was there for work and due to them I didn't have to worry about not being on time. These gentlemen were professional but also put up with my many questions and made me laugh. I enjoyed them immensely. And when I asked about the view from the roof, one of them personally stopped what he was doing and took me upstairs to see that million dollar view. I could not believe his kindness. We were in NY for the wedding of our youngest son, whose bride is from Turkey and whose family was also staying at Henry Norman. We were unfamiliar with the area, but knew it was a $5 taxi ride from the young couple's place. My side of the family required 2 rooms, 1 small plain room for my husband and myself and a bigger room for the groom's 3 adult siblings. Both of our rooms had gleaming wood floors, big TV sets, a fridge and desk space. Our new in laws had larger suites with kitchens. The only thing I would change was the showerhead was not as forceful as I expected and the bathroom shelf above the toilet was not big enough for 2 cosmetic bags. These are tiny complaints. The shuttle drivers were SO great. The front desk staff were fantastic and patiently answered every question I had about shops, restaurants & cars. If/ when we come back to NY, it will happily be to Henry Norman Hotel. read more

Spent the weekend here Sept. 14-17. Having never spent anytime in Brooklyn we really did not know what to expect. Driving in from La Guardia we dropped a friend off at her airBnB. It was in a pretty sketchy neighborhood and left my wife and I wondering what the Henry Norman was going to be like. 10 minutes later we arrived in the HN neighborhood and were a bit worried as it is somewhat industrial. Once we arrived at the hotel all of our fears and worries were put to rest. the hotel is a beautiful oasis in the Greenpoint area of Brooklyn. The renovation to the building is remarkable, the decor and layout is beautiful and the large, modern rooms are an anomaly in a city like New York! We were greeted at the front desk by the manager, Ronnie. He could not have been anymore accommodating. From directions and tips on where to go, to arranging the hotel shuttle to take us where we needed to go he was great! The shuttle driver Alexander was great as well as the rest of the staff we encountered. We were in Brooklyn for a wedding with a large party travelling together. One other couple stayed at the HN while the rest were scattered around Brooklyn in airBnB accommodations. The airBnB's were pretty dissapointing and when those folks visited us at the HN they were even more upset at their choice of accommodation.
