Staff is friendly - they hold your bags if you arrive earlier than the check in time, early check in fee was $80. Acoustics are very bad. I was staying in a room facing the skyline, and one night the wind was so strong that there was a very loud whistling noise since the balcony sliding door didn't latch and wasn't airtight. I had to leave the door open a little bit to stop the howling, and then I heard people talking outside, a loud sire. and whatnot- something that you really don't want after a full long day. Also, the bathroom in the room didn't have a shower curtain, so when one showers, the whole bathroom gets wet, it's pretty without strong utility. Came for Emo Christmas in the Mirror Bar on the day after Christmas, when it was heavily snowing. I'm so glad I went and enjoyed the event. I got a drink ticket for the Black Parade cocktail, and the bar was decorated in Emo Christmas spirit. I helped others take photos in exchange for help with mine in front of the decor, which included an Emo Christmas tree, emo nutcrackers, school lockers decorated with 2000s emo pop culture magazine cutouts and printouts, etc. Had so much fun dancing with other attendees to the playlist of emo songs. This hotel is a great place to stay if you want to stay in the Brooklyn Williamsburg area. The rooms are nice. I love that the rooms have a balcony and you can go out to sit and get some breeze. The bathroom is nice too, reminds me of the bathroom in France. The room looks nice and have a more modern design. The hotel has a nice small gym. They keep the gym clean. Hotel has a bar and dining area downstairs. It's a great hotel, great area with a lot of things to do and a lot of places to visit around the area. read more

This is a multifaceted review. I have wanted to stay here for YEARS, but just couldn't justify the cost. After having seen the bathroom on instagram (thank you aprettycoolhoteltour), it was on my bucket list. I just spent a month overseas in Uganda on fellowship, so this seemed like the perfect time for a splurge on the most amazing indoor plumbing I could find. We booked without knowing about the rooftop pool, so that was the most spectacular accident (even though we had to buy a swimsuit for my husband who had JUST picked me up from the airport). The hotel proper/accomodations: Listen. It doesn't get more luxurious. The soaking tub overlooking Manhattan during a lightening storm was just outrageous. I could not have dreamt a better experience. The shower was perfect. Dual heads, hand held shower attachments, with the option to open the door for fresh air. After not having a hot shower for a month, this was sensational. The bed was so soft, the linens were clean, cozy... and the cherry on top there? The blinds that can be opened with a remote revealing the stunning view. The coffee maker in the room did not work, but honestly, that was hardly even worth mentioning. The mini bar is well appointed, and more reasonably priced than most I've seen. The restaurant/bar downstairs: We had the breakfast option with our room, having breakfast both mornings. The food was delicious, with plenty of options for those of us who cannot have gluten! The mimosas were delicious, the coffee was perfect. The service... slow. Like really slow. He was friends enough, but moved with no sense of urgency at all. The pool/pool bar: I hate to echo the other reviews here, but alas. It's the only reason I dropped a star. The young ladies at the check in were super friendly during both visits (although when we reserved our cabana for a relaxing morning, I wish we had been alerted that it was mommy and me swim time). The first time, we opted to walk up to the bar for our drinks. The service was friendly, although a little pricey. Cabana rental day, service was awful. We hardly saw our server, then when another one came on, she was wicked rude. We waited an hour and a half for another drink, as she was very busy serving bottle service guests. She actually put her finger up at me because I was trying to speak to her. The manager ended up comping our next drink, which was nice, but I do expect people to at least be kind to their guests. The room had a minimalist style and size, which was typical but comfortable. The shower was excellent, though the bathroom had very limited shelf space. The location was convenient. One of my favorite venues in the area because of the views. The staff is pretty friendly, the bathrooms are relatively clean and sound-system is decent. My only complaint is that staff need to figure out a better way of choosing exit points once events have completed. I'm sad to say that I am really disappointed with my stay here. This was the final night of a long-awaited honeymoon (5 years delayed due to COVID) and it really put a damper to the end of an amazing two week honeymoon. We chose to splurge on a "City View Studio" room for July 4th which was double our usual budget that we'd typically spend on a hotel room. I like to think of myself as an optimist, so I will start with the 2 positives: (1) I loved the vibe, decor, and location of the hotel. These were the main reasons for booking the Arlo Williamsburg to begin with. (2) The staff at the hotel was very friendly. Now to the negatives: Room Discrepancies * Booked the 'City View Studio' room for 2 specific features: 1. The Bathroom which showed a soaking tub with a separate shower... separated from the sink with a glass partition & a private toilet room (as shown on the website photos as well as in the room details description). 2. A balcony with a city view for fireworks. * What I Received: * A shower/tub combo (small, not as pictured). * No glass partition, so the water splashed everywhere. * No private toilet room; a poorly designed sliding barn door gave no privacy from the bedroom to bathroom * The room was also on the 4th floor (lowest level for that room type) with no real city/fireworks view. Cleanliness & Housekeeping * Room was not clean: * Quite a bit of dust in bathroom. * Crumbs on bed and sofa. * Saw a housekeeper sitting on the hallway floor using her phone (unprofessional behavior, worse than any budget hotel I've stayed at). Other issues: * Bad first impression: encountered a drunk guest of their event being rude at the entrance. Their staff member that was working the doorway apologized for her behavior. * Breakfast issue: paid for breakfast for two, but only got one voucher at check-in. This issue was fixed after asking, but it added to the overall sense of disorganization. Final Thoughts * I expected a top-notch experience for the premium price, but it did not deliver. It's sad to see a place that was once thriving and has lots of potential, start to go downhill (as is evident given a lot of the recent reviews). They need to do a lot of improving to reach the level they charge their customers. read more

What a cute stay! The decor is beautiful in the living lobby and the room. I loved that the room had a Nespresso machine because I can't stand other places that charge $500/room and can't provide coffee. They also provided two free water bottles and two fortune cookies upon arrival. Fully stocked mini bar, snacks and fridge if you want to pay extra for those things. The bed was really comfy, even for my picky husband who hates every bed but our own. The only thing that was a little annoying is you can hear folks out in the hall. I do appreciate their attempt to thwart this however: when you get off the elevator there is a sign about being quiet and respectful. Also, there's a noise machine in the room! I have NEVER seen that in a hotel before and I thought it was genius. Additionally, we read in other reviews that the bar and upstairs bar were loud, so we asked at check in if we could be placed in a quiet area. One standout thing about Arlo is the incredible scent throughout the hotel. If you're sensitive to smells, this might not be your thing, but I couldn't stop marveling at how fresh and inviting it was. Honestly, it added such a nice touch. Let's start at the beginning. I was a day late for check-in, but it was easy to reach out to the hotel to update them. The front desk is available 24/7 and answered promptly every time I called. Upon arrival, the doorman welcomed me, directed me to the lobby via the elevator, and I was checked in within five minutes. Smooth and efficient! The Room: I stayed in a standard queen room, which was cozy but had enough space for me and my partner. There was room to store our suitcase and move around comfortably. The bathroom was modern and nice to look at and the room came equipped with a small fridge (though not large enough for much), a safe, coffee and tea, and even a sound machine, which I really appreciated. The view of the skyline was lovely, and there was a small table and chair where we enjoyed a meal together. For those who love streaming, you can connect your phone to the TV--a nice touch. Hotel Perks: There's a lot to love, both at the hotel and in the surrounding area. We had breakfast at their restaurant, Sungold, twice, and the food was excellent. On Friday night, we checked out the on-site club with a DJ, which was a lot of fun. The neighborhood is full with plenty of dining and entertainment options, all within walking distance. For Drivers: If you're driving, I visited over the weekend and found a spot right in front of the hotel. Street parking is available nearby, and there's also a garage just two blocks away if needed. Pros: Friendly and attentive staff Clean and well-maintained rooms Great food at Sungold Convenient location near restaurants and attractions A well-equipped gym Fun after-hours events Cons: Some areas of the room were a bit worn, like the bathroom door handle and window frame. Noise: You might hear some street noise--this is Brooklyn, after all--but the rooms are surprisingly soundproof. I didn't hear anything from adjacent rooms, just the occasional footsteps and talks in the hallway. The hotel even has signs asking guests to be quiet in the hallways, which I appreciated. Arlo Brooklyn is one of my favorite hotels I've stayed at, and as someone who enjoys staycations, I've tried quite a few. I'll definitely be back for another visit! read more

**WARNING: SAFETY HAZARD AND RISK OF SERIOUS INJURY** I recently stayed at the Arlo Williamsburg late August (8/27-8/31 to be exact) ; this was my 2nd time staying here and I was hoping for it to be just as great as the first time - what a U-turn in perspective it turned out to be, and for the absolute worse. On the night of 8/29, the sliding bathroom door that was previously loose already got dislodged and fell down, hitting my friend on his head. Paramedics arrived and Arlo took an incident report down soon after, stating that their insurance reps and mgmt will be in touch with me. It had nearly been a month now and the silence is deafening. Minimal outreach from their management with surface-level, hollow apologies; ZERO outreach from their insurance reps or their management regarding the incident or to inquire about the well being of my friend after the injuries he had to endure. The amount of agony and frustration caused by this grotesque neglect and lack of care and regard for its guests by Arlo, much less for repeat customers, is extremely disappointing. Not to mention, the AC stopped working in the hotel on the night of 8/30 - an issue that pales in comparison to the first one but an issue nonetheless. All around, a very poor and pathetic reflection on Arlo Williamsburg, and a resounding two thumbs down for this establishment. read more

I've come here once before and it was a great time, which is why I wanted to come back again, but unfortunately, my experience did not exceed my expectations My friend and I bought tickets to the rooftop bar and we were immediately disappointed with the hospitality. We went to the bar and ordered drinks. Tips were automatically added at 20% and we wanted to change our tip amount. This has never been an issue in all my years of dining. Luca, the bartender, said, tips are not included and we said we know and he immediately said, I'll get back to you, took the kiosk away, served the person next to us and refused service to us. After refusing service to us, we went to a different bartender which Luca then proceeded to go to our current bartender and whisper something. After that, he proceeded to whisper to all his other coworkers. The most disappointing thing is, after my friend and I got our drinks, we were just standing by the bar and Luca felt the personal need to approach us and ask if I wrote my review yet and I said I'm going to and he said, great I can't wait for it, make it good and proceeded to make a heart with his hands, smiling and laughing and being extremely petty. In all my years of being in New York City, I have never experienced hospitality like this and it's kind of shocking that employees think they can act with disrespect and laugh about it just because they're unhappy with the tip amount. It's really ridiculous that they lack common courtesy. You can go to the rooftop pool and bar, spend time in the coffee/bar area on the main floor; etc. They have comfy chairs and couches throughout the hotel and space. From the clientele that come to party on the roof, to needing to make a reservation to use the pool- an amenity you're paying extra for and have to compete with people using resort pass. To the extra fees that give you credit at the restaurant that you can now only use for dinner- and of course we found that after using them for coffee and pastries in the morning. Of course, they had to find a way to ensure you didn't use that credit. If your business model relies on finding ways to fleece everyone who comes through the door at every possible turn-perhaps it's time for a rethink. Arlo Williamsburg feels a bit shabby, tired, and distracted compared to other boutique hotels in the area. The rooms are nice enough, but in mine the hot water ran beige even after running for several minutes. The popular roof bar makes any night on or close to the weekend nearly unbearably loud, and the staff seem more focused on acting as security than attending to the hotel guests. And the elevators, even on a quiet day, are painfully slow (I recommend taking the stairs). It's fun to be in Williamsburg, but next time I'll stay in a quieter neighborhood in a hotel that's focused more on its guests than its clubbers. read more

This is review for their downstairs venue. I attended an event last night Meztiza. It was probably the most disorganized event I have attended. The lines were long and there was no communication btw the bouncer and patrons. We asked a few times why the line was as not moving to no response. Once we enter the wristband girl had the audacity to try to over charge everyone for not making it before 11pm, mind you we were standing outside for 1:15 minutes. They only had 2 girls doing wristbands- Awful!!!!! We went to get drinks at the bar and were charged $27 dollars for a gin a tonic. I just looked at my receipt because it seemed very expensive and I noticed the bartender gave himself a $4.59 cents tip. I'm all for tipping but I for a tiny drink that took 2 second 2 make I'm not tipping 4 dollars. I will be calling today to have them reimburse me. How dare you not ask the credit card owner on what tip to leave???? This is completely disrespectful and illegal to add yourself a tip without consent. read more

This hotel has been one of our favorites during the whole pandemic. It has some fabulous instagrams ready rooms and the prices back then were so good. We stayed here 5-6 times and a combination of cool decor, the very neat water tower conversion and the roof top bar are great. The location is great. It's right in the middle of Williamsburg and it is steps from restaurants and other spots. It's very walkable and it's just blocks from the water. If you are lucky you can score a room with a view. The suites in particular are magnificent. Floor to ceiling windows and panoramic views. Sadly they were taken by a new group and I'm sad to say that many of the really cool room features (like the vintage lights and things) have been removed. I can certainly understand the need to streamline and lower maintenance costs but it's sort of sad. Overall we love this spot. It's a little on the pricey side but given the location and the building itself it's great. Hopefully it won't become too generic over time :-) read more

Disclaimer: I have never stayed at this hotel. I have only been to this hotel to frequent the rooftop area so my review is solely based on that experience. I love the views and the vibe of the rooftop area. The view is a beautiful view of Manhattan from Williamsburg (hence the hotel name) On the main level with the pool there is a bar area and is usually more crowded than the upstairs area in the water tower. The drinks are a bit pricey and they offer the usual bar things -- nothing too special. Where the water tower is located there is also another bar, but much smaller (along with the actual size of the water tower) However, it's a nice stop to grab a drink or just see a beautiful view of Manhattan from a different perspective and then grab delicious cocktails from another spot. read more

The not so good is the current rehabbing construction environment and the rundown common elements such as the elevators, entrance at street level and shabby blinds in our room. Our room was tiny which l know is par for the course but it would be nice to have a chair to sit down on. The bathroom was fine with a nice large shower. The employees were also so so nice which was so nice to experience on top of everything else.
