    too short toilet seat

So many things wrong with this hotel experience from start to finish: 1) the number on the confirmation to call for questions did not work. 2) When I finally reached another Hilton employee on a general line and asked for suggestions as to where to park if the lot was full, she called this Hilton and got back on the line to say they told her "I'm not sure...drive around until you find a spot." 3) When we checked in and were handed our key cards we were told to take the elevator down to level C for our room. After walking all around with all of our heavy luggage we finally found our room, up on level 2. 4) When I got in the room there was a very loud buzzing (which turned out to be the mini-fridge), and the toilet seat was too small for the toilet by a few inches (uncomfortable and unsanitary, as your legs sit on the actual porcelain of the bowl). I went down to the front desk to tell them and the kid (literally, a kid) at the front desk told me "I'm not really sure what to do about that." 5) I asked to switch rooms and was told the hotel was full, but he would call and someone would be right up to help. I waited half an hour before calling down to the desk again and talking to a different person who told me the first person likely forgot, and said he would send someone within 5 minutes. About 10 minutes later I get a call to say "sorry, there is nothing we can do because maintenance does not work on weekends." 6) I asked if maybe a manager could help and was told there was no manager on duty (hmmmm....a completely booked hotel on a Friday night, and no manager on duty). 7) I was then told I should try pulling on the toilet seat to see if I could move it forward myself. I explained that it was bolted in, even if I could move it, it was too short, and if I am paying the money to stay at a Hilton, I don't expect to have to fix the toilet in my room myself. 8) Later when I went to take a shower I noticed dirt in the corners and then discovered that one of the handles was missing, and someone "fixed" it, by screwing a screw partly in. The idea was that you use the screw to turn the thing from side to side. 9) While I was in the shower all my toiletries fell into the sink. This is because the shelf above the sink was not screwed in properly and tilted forward (the amount of toiletries I had up there consisted of 3 small, light bottles, so not a weight issue). 10) The first morning we were woken up before 6 am by a mother letting her toddler run up and down the hall while she called to the child and laughed hysterically. 11) on the second night we were woken up just before 1 am by extremely loud music coming from the patio. After about 10 minutes I called the front desk and the phone was answered immediately (meaning the person was right there). This is important to know because the patio is right next to the front desk and they did nothing about the noise until someone called downstairs to complain. Even then, they just turned it down rather than off. All this, despite signs saying that after 10 pm was quiet time. The only things that were good about the stay was the air conditioning and a comfortable bed (comfortable once you were in it...it was so close to the wall on one side that you had to be careful standing up).

No complaints! The basement area was pretty fun with the pool tables and the weird chairs. Room was clean and wasn't noisy. Gym was fun as you can see.

It was also perfectly located just a short walk from my Pilates studio, which made sticking to my routine while traveling super easy. On top of that, there were plenty of coffee shops and local restaurants nearby, so I never had to go far for a good bite or my morning coffee. Being a Hilton Honors member made check-in a breeze, and I was even gifted complimentary water upon arrival, which was such a thoughtful touch. The room itself was clean, cozy, and perfect for a short stay. The view from my window was amazing especially at night and I loved how quiet it was, making it easy to fully relax after long days out. They also have great amenities like a gym and a breakfast buffet every morning. The waffle machines, fresh fruit, and coffee were definitely highlights and a great way to start each day. Mallory at the front desk was so sweet and made checkout just as smooth as check-in. I stayed for 4 days and 3 nights, and everything about this visit felt seamless. I'll definitely be back the next time I'm in New York!

At one point we needed another blanket, I normally get cold in any hotel I am in. They delivered that in a great amount of time. This really is a great location. It is about a 16-20 minute walk to the water area. I felt pretty safe at the hotel and the surrounding area. It is easy for ubers, taxis and ride share services to pick up and drop off. The room was comfortable for both my friend and I. There were two beds in our room which is exactly the type of room we booked. We did have issues with the AC. I am hoping they repaired it and looked into it after we left. It was warm in the room for s little, but by the time it was getting late it cooled down and I slept comfortably. Opening the window was not going to be an option. I would not sleep well to the ASMR sounds of NYC in real life. HEHE. They were helpful though. Overall this is a great hotel to stay at if you are wanting to be on the Brooklyn/Dumbo area. Perfect stay and the cost was not too bad. I was able to use points.

We did NOT use any of the amenities. Basically we just used the room to sleep. No fridge, so we could not stock up on local beers, lol. Ambiance - Decent size hotel. Gym, conference room, wifi, restaurant/bar, market place (small convenience shop), daily house keeping, pet friendly (with restrictions and additional deposit), smoke free, etc. Open 24/7. No pool. Parking in nearby garages starting at $55 a day. Service - Okay. Complimentary flavored water, coffee, and tea in the lobby. Nice "outdoor" sitting/lobby area; see picture. Packages and promotions available; see their website. Price - $215 a night, NY prices. Not inexpensive, but also not a great value. We are paying for the location. The mattress was a little too soft for my liking. Overall, the room is of a decent size and not a bad place for the size. It's clean enough and if you're not looking for luxury or great comfort, this is a good option.

They said no problem as long as I arrive before midnight. I arrived around 10 PM as described and saw a pile of empty plug in fan boxes in the lobby. It was very hot in the lobby. I was informed that the air conditioning was out in the whole building. I said I don't think that is going to work for me as it was 90 degrees that day. I was told in hard to understand English that there were fans put in the room. I was also told he could offer a 30% discount. I went up to check the room and when the elevators doors opened, it was even hotter on the 3rd floor. I checked the room that did have fans but all it was doing was blowing the hot air around. No human could possibly sleep in those conditions. I went back downstairs and told him that wasn't going to work for me and my wife. I requested a refund. He refunded my $100 deposit and advised that I had to reach out to their on-line booking company to refund the reservation. It would have been a nice courtesy to get a phone call or email advising that the AC was out in the whole building before I drove 6 hours expecting a cool room to sleep in. I spent 2 days getting the run around from their on-line booking company only to receive an email refusing to refund my money because it was past the cancellation date. So they feel that it is ok to steal $400 from me and provide no service. I have contacted my credit card company and will be getting my refund. Stay away from this place.

ONE OF THE DIRTIEST PLACES I'VE EVER STAYED. I booked this hotel sometime in 2025 when reviews…read moreappeared to be favorable. I stayed in this hotel for two nights, May 19th and May 20th of 2026. What I encountered should NEVER be allowed in the hospitality industry. Immediately when you walk in to check in, you are met with the staff members behind bullet proof glass. The girl who works in the daytime has a very hard to hear voice and shows 0 emotion. The pictures show the front is decorated which is NOT the case any longer - it's just dirty and deteriorating. The lobby is out of order - chairs everywhere, the bar wasn't open the entire time we were there, and they tour down the TV that was once there. The elevator is deteriorating like the rest of the building, and you can hear it each way up and down. My partner and I walked into the room, which at first appearance looked nice. Once you sat down and looked around, things just became more unhinged by the moment. - DUST covered everything. - The floor was nasty and had dirt, scraps of food wrappers, and food crumbs everywhere. It was clear the floor had not been vacuumed in days. - The hallway was also covered in grime, and had an added stickiness to it which you felt each time you took a step forward. - The large door to the bathroom was off its hinges so it could no longer slide shut. - The shower had visible black mold. Only a few of the water spouts had water come out. The rest were either clogged or just didn't work any longer. - Paint was pealing on the wall. - The couch in the room was covered with a cheap, ripped, couch cover that had stains on it. - Visible cigarette burns showed in various areas of the room. - They only gave us one pillow and one towel. I had specifically booked the hotel for two guests. We used the hotel to quickly get ready for the rest of our night, and asked the man working at the front desk to bring up a few pillows and towels, as we explained we only had one of each. When we returned, they had brought two towels up to the room, but no pillows. My partner went downstairs to ask the man once again for pillows. He told us they would be right up. 15 minutes passed and nothing. We called again and he said the same thing - they would be right up. Another 15 minutes - nothing. I called once more, and said we needed them because we wanted to go to bed soon - I was clear my partner did not have any pillows to use as we only had one supplied to us. I was told they would be right up - they never came. When we left the next day, I was very straightforward with the girl working at the front and let her know it's unacceptable that my partner had to sleep on a "decorative" pillow from the touch which smelled. She told me they would be right up - but I told her they already said that to us -she needed to make it a top priority for us as we've asked many times. Not one apology was given for their lack of service. Fortunately, when we came back they had given us two pillows however, both of them stunk and were stained. When we woke up the next day, we realized the sheets had moved around a bit while we were sleeping, and my partner slept on a giant brown stain that could have been anything. NEVER staying here again - I hope they shut this place down soon what a joke.

She was on the phone when I arrived and was very apologetic for the wait time, which was only a couple minutes. There was another person at the front desk who was helping another guest, she also saw me when I came in and helped the guest who walked in after me. Check in was pretty easy, Kai was as accommodating as she could be and checked for any upgrades that could be applied. My room was very clean. Not sure when they made updates, but my room had hardwood floors which I was sooo happy about because the reviews I've seen show carpeted rooms which kinda skeeve me out, lol. Also, lovely views of the little park. -Price- This hotel was slightly pricier than others close by -Did Not Like- I stepped out for a brief period of time to grab a bite to eat, maybe 30 minutes max, and when I returned there was an item that was no longer present at the bottom of one of my bags. I was unable to address this with the staff in the moment, so I brought it to their attention the next morning at checkout (Saturday). Ashley wrote down the details of the incident and immediately offered me the managers contact information. I sent a email the following Monday. After a bit of back and forth over the course of about 2 weeks, they said their investigation was "inconclusive", but reimbursed my missing item "in good faith" after I showed them proof of purchase. -Noteworthy- One of the main reasons I chose this hotel over others in the area was the rooftop. Unfortunately it was closed for renovations, which was not displayed anywhere on the website prior to booking. -Recommend- Very cute place, but unfortunately I would not feel comfortable staying there again. Two stars instead of one as the staff was very kind.

I travel for a work a few times a year, and I'm always amused when my co-workers tell me, "Oh…read moreJames, you're so 'Lucky' that you get to travel." Yeah..."lucky." That's what I am. Anyone's who's had the pleasure of engaging in business travel knows that it's long hours getting to and from the job site, not eating Michelin star meals but more often at chain restaurants, and of course, not staying at the Ritz Carlton...but at places like TownPlace Suites in Brooklyn. I just finished up a multi-week stay here for a big project. It wasn't terrible; but also not amazing. I'm a Marriott loyalty member, so I try and book at these properties if given the choice. Located in the Gowanus/Park Slope neighborhood, it is conveniently located a 2-3 min walk from the Union Street MTA stop; which is good since there really isn't a lot of parking associated with the hotel. The Good: * Central location - My NY office was near the Barclay's center, so I walked daily to and from the hotel. And it is within a 15-20 min of the always Park Slope neighborhood replete with trendy restaurants and shopping. And being near a MTA stop is a HUGE plus since it also made getting to NY Penn station easier. * Included breakfast - It's not anything fancy, but it's nice not having to spend any Per Diem on breakfast. Surprisingly, the coffee is flavorful and strong. In additon to dairy creamers, non-dairy (Oat and Soy Milk) creamers are also provided. Otherwise, it's the usual assortment of pastries, cereal, and hot items like sausage/bacon, powdered eggs, etc. Again, nothing fancy but it's nice at 6:30am to just hop on the elevator and be able to grab breakfast without having to leave the hotel. * Room layout - Upgrades to this property include Container Store branded Elfa shelving in the closet. This proved more helpful that I thought since I was able to place my roller bag at waist level for easy sorting; and hanging suits and other clothing was convenient. As usual, for business travelers, an iron and mini-ironing board are also provided. Bathroom was clean and the shower had good water pressure with wall mounted body wash, shampoo/conditioner. Kitchenette with microwave and sink was also handy. You can request a mini-induction cooktop if you want to prepare any food. * Daily housekeeping - This "perk" seems to be rapidly disappearing across hotels. It was nice to have housekeeping refresh towels, come back to a made bed, and trash emptied. * Fitness center - I used it a few times. Treadmills, stationary bikes and some weights. Not bad if you want to get a workout in. The Bad: * Thin Walls and Door - Many reviews note the "paper thin walls," and I agree with that assessment. As referenced, this is not the Ritz Carlton, so don't be surprised if you "accidentally" overhear your neighbors convos if they're speaking loudly. The hotel has a "quiet hours" policy between 10pm-5am, but I can attest that several nights, inconsiderate guests returned around 1-2am and were quite rowdy which I'm sure awakened everyone along the hallway. * Loud HVAC unit - more and more hotels are switching to the "invidual window HVAC units." I get it. Installing central air heating and cooling units in each room is cost prohibitive. But these window A/C units are so loud that it makes sleeping difficult * Transitional neighborhood - The immediate area is "safe," but a few nights when my colleagues were walking back from the Union Street MTA, there is currently an empty lot where there were some "questionable" people hanging around...and I'll leave it at that. I'm sure in another 3-5 yrs, a high rise selling million dollar condos will be erected. This is NYC, so don't be shocked by the prices. I paid the corporate rate, so my pricing is not representative for what a "regular" customer would pay. TBH, for downtown Brooklyn this TownPlace Suites isn't bad.
