Splatter all over the walls-hopefully food...

The price was absolutely too much for the space. The room was spacious, however that is the only positive. The bathroom sink would not drain, the shower was grimey (my son said he wished he had flip flops to wear in the shower), the room was dirty with stuff splattered on walls and dirt on the floors.

    How it's supposed to look.

Way too expensive for what you get. The proprietors have no pride in this establishment nor their work. So much in the room was worn or broken. It did have two TVs. I wonder if they worked since I didn't try to cut them on. Was in Brooklyn for a conference and needed to press my shirt but there was no iron. Again, they charge what they do and can't provide an iron. Never again on my part. Don't do this to yourself.

    Outside hotel

Pictures do not represent the hotel- it's very run down and old. Broken, peeling faux leather chairs, no TV (it turns on to a weather page) and you had to ask for wi-fi password. We had to take the yellowed sheets off the bed, discussing pillows. There's a dining room with no service, and a broken vending machine. Not great neighborhood, on a busy street and not super safe to go out at night. Our Uber driver said the hotel part was on the first floor (welcome desk behind place-glass) and that the rest of the building was a shelter or rooms for housing challenged. There was yelling and lots of people in the lobby most of the night, walking through the halls and banging on the walls!

I stayed at this hotel last year and there was a leak in my room ceiling soaking my bed, clothing and personal items. I was given a credit for a future stay. I returned to this hotel on 6/19/25 and was hopeful I wouldn't have any issues. The initial room I was given (405) was filthy. The carpet had water stains, the wood on the dresser and nightstand was chipped and the electrical cords were coming out of some of the light fixtures. I ran into a staff member who stated that room had some issues (so why would I be put in that room in the first place). I asked for another room and was given pushback stating there was no available rooms but with persistence a room (C3) magically became available. In this room, the comforter smelt like cigarette smoke, the comforter/pillow cases were dirty, the fitted sheet had a what looked like a cigarette burn hole, the floor in room & near toilet looked like it had not been swept/mopped/cleaned, the toilet paper roll & towel hook fixtures were both loose, the inside of the microwave was dirty it was no longer white, the toilet seat looked like it had dried up pee stains, the washcloth and towels looked dirty, and the room was dusty (which caused me to constantly sneeze and it felt like dust bunnies were on my skin) but the most unsanitary thing that I observed was the roaches on the room curtain and floor. Roaches lay eggs so I had to check my belongings. After much complaining they agreed to move me to a room on the 3rd flr (side note; the metal elevator border on this flr was coming up & could cut someone's foot). I emailed the manager (Ace) about the conditions and I didn't hear back. I asked that I be refunded the cost of my stay and credited back my deposit as after one night I'm checking out. He informed the front desk staff that I still need to pay for my first nights stay. I could not believe he would stay ask that I pay after this horrific experience! He refused to talk to me and did not apologize for my experience. This hotel needs to be shut down and inspected by the health department.

When you look at this hotel online - you only see the front of the building... Because there's nothing to the left or the right or across the street but traffic. If you're walking here at night... *shrug* you might feel unsafe. The front desk area is encased in some type of bullet proof glass/thick plastic... And the security guard sits across from the front desk. So they either have been robbed or own a bodega cause it has that same feel. (IYKYK) front desk guy barely said anything beside "ID and credit card" they make a copy of your ID, you sign a form that you're ok with them charging your card for incidentals, and they send you on your way. He didn't tell me what room I was in. He just wrote it on the key card. O_O. Grade A customer service. Ok. Cool. There are taped up print outs about noise, a smoking fee you'll be charged X amount if they catch you... PEOPLE ARE ABSOLUTELY SMOKING IN THIS PLACE. They may rather you not but that fee ain't stoppin nobody. (Someone randomly walked down the hall last night spraying spray to rid the smell -- it didn't.) There are Rules about how many people are allowed in what type of room. Which gives the impression that it probably gets wild during the spring/summer. The room it's self is cool. Everything seems clean. Everything has wear/tear and seems/is worn. The walls are INCREDIBLY thin. (The guy in the room next to me is currently talking on the phone about doing shrooms, bougie b!tches, and his mans needing to get his drivers license) is he in the room next to me or is he sitting in the couch in this room? The volume is about the same, might as well be a 3 way call with all of us. Would I stay here again? Probably not, but I wouldn't throw a fit if someone else booked it for me/us either. It's a bit further down on Atlantic than I'd like to be. It's like 1.5 miles from Barclays. Closest train is the A/C - Nostrand. The 2 train is like a 17 minute walk away. All in all... It's giving... We used to be a motel, but got a PPP loan, did some renovations, and we're a hotel now. Not knocking it. IJS those are the vibes.

also in the confirmation, description of the $19.99 daily resort fee for breakfast- which the hotel does NOT serve

The one good aspect is that the room is relatively large for an NYC hotel. However, the other reviews are pretty spot-on. The hotel is run-down, smells awful, and the elevator seemed to be on the verge of breaking (which judging from a review a month ago, it was broken). What angers me the most is that we are literally charged a fee for a service that the hotel does not provide. There is a $19.99 daily resort fee which the confirmation describes as for "a daily breakfast featuring New York bagels and pastries" etc., but the hotel doesn't even serve breakfast. It has been a struggle getting this fee refunded; hotel management has not responded to myself or representatives from the site we booked through. The front desk was unhelpful.

Dirty carpets , dirty sofa , the bathroom door will not open, because it's off the hinge .

Why keep telling people that this place is a death trap, when yhe owner continues to post pics from when this establishment first opened up.. It's expensive and crappy.. l didn't feel safe sleeping here ..

    Shattered Glass Shower Wall

Look, I'll start with the PROS - price and location, and that was what made me take a risk on this place. But it was not worth it. The floors were sticky, items in the room visibly broken. The worst thing was the smell. An intense chemical cleaner that permeated the whole hotel. It wasn't bleach, but it had the same kind of acrid quality. I can still smell it on my clothes days after leaving. The management just clearly has no intention of keeping this place up. Broken lights, things literally falling off the walls, the entire bar/dining area stripped bare. The other guests were suspicious and the immediate neighborhood felt more dangerous than my past visits to the area. I will say that I had nothing stolen and no unsafe encounters with other guests, but I was very cautious. Do not stay here.

All of the staff at Ace were kind, welcoming, and incredibly helpful with my questions. The vibe of the hotel was very hipster (coworking in the lobby, DJs at night in the lobby), which made for a unique experience. The rooms, while smaller, were very well appointed and comfortable. The products in the bathroom were lovely, the bed/pillows were very comfortable. If I have the opportunity to stay in Brooklyn again, Ace will be at the top of my list for sure!

A rude woman who did little to correct her mistake. Now I'm wet. I went to the bar to ask if they'd replace the drink. The bartender immediately said "no go ask the manager." Well alrighty! I find the manager and he proceeds to re-explain the situation as "so you want us to buy you a drink? It's not our fault or responsibility." We're adults. I never placed blame. A peculiar thing to say considering I just bought the drink and I'm in your establishment. Felt pretty short tbh. Not sure why I was expecting a different tone. He eventually just offers me a shot. I don't particularly like shots so I kindly slid the remainder of the spilled drink and declined the shot, suggesting that Managment show the next customer a little more grace and respect in tone. Obviously an establishment isn't responsible for spilled drinks and don't have to be kind at all. I get that. But I guess that's what separates a great establishment from a mediocre one just selling drinks and not an experience. Good luck to them.

It was also perfectly located just a short walk from my Pilates studio, which made sticking to my routine while traveling super easy. On top of that, there were plenty of coffee shops and local restaurants nearby, so I never had to go far for a good bite or my morning coffee. Being a Hilton Honors member made check-in a breeze, and I was even gifted complimentary water upon arrival, which was such a thoughtful touch. The room itself was clean, cozy, and perfect for a short stay. The view from my window was amazing especially at night and I loved how quiet it was, making it easy to fully relax after long days out. They also have great amenities like a gym and a breakfast buffet every morning. The waffle machines, fresh fruit, and coffee were definitely highlights and a great way to start each day. Mallory at the front desk was so sweet and made checkout just as smooth as check-in. I stayed for 4 days and 3 nights, and everything about this visit felt seamless. I'll definitely be back the next time I'm in New York!

My main concern when looking for a hotel in NY/Brooklyn was having a microwave and fridge, and thankfully our room had both. I was also told you can request them if your room doesn't already have them. We stayed in a room with a window facing an extremely busy intersection, with honking going on all day and into the night, but thankfully, the windows were thick enough to block out most of the noise. The AC sound also helped drown it out. The room and restroom also felt spacious for what you get in NY. There was daily breakfast, which was your typical hotel breakfast with a variety of options that changed daily. It's about a one-mile walk to get to DUMBO, which wasn't bad at all, even when we had to do it in the rain. The subway is about a 10 minute walk, and there are two corner stores down the street. Honestly not a bad location! Just be careful when crossing that crazy busy intersection! I would stay here again!

Customer service from the front desk and staff THROUGHOUT the stay was abysmal and horrendous. Half the time you couldn't even find someone AT the front desk to help you out with anything, and when they were there, they literally would drag their feet or pretend to do something when they actually weren't! Anytime I requested or asked for something, I would be told it's 'done' and that I'm 'good to go', but inevitably I would find out that NOTHING had actually been done!! This led to me also receiving very rude interactions with the housekeeping managers, who would act like I was in the room without permission due to the lack of communication between any of the staff here regarding my check-out times and other such issues. As for the hotel itself, it clearly is not being properly maintained, and things are grimy, dented, and nasty throughout the rooms and halls. The door handle for my first room literally BROKE, and doors throughout the building all have half broken, drooping door handles...scuffs, marks, and broken bits EVERYWHERE. It shouldn't be that hard to maintain a relatively new hotel if there was an effort AT ALL put into it, but the staff/management here clearly DOES. NOT. CARE. AT ALL. OH - and watch out for scams here when it comes to charges they'll put on your card!! They created a second folio and had multiple duplicate charges for the SAME room and the SAME nights, and have refused to remove them!! I have disputed the charges on my card and filed complaints with Marriott regarding the shady, scam-like activities that the management at this hotel engages in. Needless to say, I will NEVER stay at the Aloft New York Brooklyn Hotel EVER again - and I highly recommend that all of you steer WELL clear of it as well.
