The haphazardly posted piece of computer printer paper in the elevator listing activities prohibited in the hotel such as loud music and parties should serve as notice for bass vibration and yelling that will define your attempts at sleeping. The rooms are well designed and were stylishly appointed, but time has not been kind and the wear and tears are everywhere. From ripped carpet to broken faucets you'll feel comfortable doing anything here, no need to be cautious. The room was cleaned, but wasn't clean. From the glitter not fully vacuumed out of the carpet to the hvac filter that needed to be replaced last year to that new cigarette smell, you'll see. If you like the sound of fighting, this is the spot for you. Enjoy. read more

Sadly, I have nothing to add to the terrible reviews of this place but more details on how terrible it is. Do not stay here unless you have no other choice. I normally don't write bad reviews and I try to cut people a break anytime I can... it's COVID and things are hard these days for hotels and service staff but this experience was VERY bad and VERY unacceptable. First off, the hallways and elevators constantly reeked of cigarette smoke, the carpets/floors were all dirty in the common areas, none of the "bar" or "amenities" that were listed were open (they were actually filled with random boxes and fans and dirty floors), and the front desk staff was not welcoming AT ALL. We didn't have issues with noise until we checked out and they were suddenly doing construction in the basement, but everything in these terrible reviews is 100% true. We planned to stay here for a week and checked out after 1 night because of the terrible room conditions. At first glance it was great so we didn't pay any mind to it the first night we stayed. We had a long flight and passed out as soon as we got there. The next day I contacted the front desk and informed them that we would be checking out early after I stepped on various pieces of glass on the carpet in my room. Unfortunately, this was not my only issue with the room however it was the final straw. There was also hair and stains on the bed sheets that were not ours, a layer of dust on all the furniture, various small pieces of trash on the carpet and floor throughout including small pieces of glass scattered near the bed which made it clear it had not been vacuumed or cleaned prior to us checking in. Although I explained this to the front desk employee, she did not express much concern or regret that we did not want to stay the full week we booked. Based on all these reviews maybe she is just used to hearing these complaints. She didn't offer any kind of consolation for this, however, she said that she would contact the manager of the property (via text!!!) to inquire about a reduced rate for the time we did stay, but that we shouldn't hold our breath. It has now been two weeks since we checked out and a week since I sent a follow-up e-mail on their website and we have not received any communication or been able to reach the front desk despite several attempts. I am highly disappointed in my experience at this hotel. It did not meet our expectations by a long shot. I wish we had cross-referenced the reviews on Yelp with the reviews on Booking.com where we made the reservation. read more

can you give ZERO stars??? we showed up late for our reservation, due to flight delays. when we got to the hotel at 6 am, 3 hours after the 3 am deadline , we were told our one week reservation had been cancelled, and in that time frame between 3-6 am they had rented it out to someone else. Which was a blatant LIE. oh but as a consolation, we could rent a room that night, check in 3 pm, for 3 times what our reservation had been. They refused to refund the next 6 nights AVOID THIS HOTEL! read more

Checked in and was greeted by a nice young lady whom I wish I remember her name, she has light blonde hair. Outside and across the street it does looks sketch, but inside is nice and the design is great. I like the wood looking tile ceiling. The room has a nice brick wall design, also massive cool wall art above the bed. Glass sliding doors that opens up to the shower and toilet which are both separated across from each other with glass doors. Room comes with microwave and fridge which is always a plus for me because you never know when you might be hungry in the middle of the night. It's my wife birthday and when we go back from dinner, someone dropped off cookies and a glass jar of milk. My wife was please with the kind gesture. Overall we had a nice stay, slept well, nice shower and comfortable bed so we are please. New York has been great. Very fast paced, busy. read more

The Brooklyn - Hotels Near Me - Brooklyn, New York

My wife and I spent a weekend at this hotel in September 2022. Our room reeked of stale weed and cigarettes. There were unknown stains on carpeting, furniture, and curtains and sticky, dirty laminate floors. The bathroom sink had a broken, non-functional hot water faucet. Large black garbage bags lined the hallway. The elevator was janky; the lobby smelled overpoweringly of industrial cleaning solvents (presumably to cover up more weed/cigarette odors... or worse.) I immediately requested to speak with the manager, and was told there are no managers on-site during the weekend, and that no manager could be reached by phone, which is a huge red flag for a hotel--the highest-traffic days of the week are going to be Friday/Saturday/Sunday. Seems pretty important to have a manager around! On Saturday morning at about 1am, we were returning from a late dinner and drinks with friends and found that the guest across the hall was hosting a room party in direct contradiction with the hotel's own posted policies. We know this because the guy who rode the elevator with us from the lobby told us (he wasn't staying there), only to get turned away at the door of the party. While that is objectively hilarious, this stay was anything but. The front desk attendant did eventually move us to a slightly less terrible room for Saturday night (fewer stains, didn't smell as bad, etc.) but refused to process a refund or put me in touch with the manager on Sunday. Ridiculous, disrespectful, and a huge waste of money and time. I've filed complaints with New York City's Department of Consumer and Worker Protection (DCWP) and the Hotel Association of New York City (HANYC), and am disputing the charge through my credit card company. In the meantime, I wouldn't recommend this hotel to my worst enemy. Stay away. read more

I thought the 3-star rating meant this place would be good enough but whew, was I wrong. I mostly echo what others have said. This place REEKED of cigarettes and weed. My bath towels were covered in stains and another person's hair. On a super sketchy block. When I first got to my room on the 4th floor, I thought the window was open because of how much street noise was coming in. The room was literally falling apart - everything was either broken, dirty, chipped, wobbly, or in some other state of disrepair. It's like they built it and decided not to invest ever again in maintenance or upkeep. When I first got in the elevator, there was a woman coming out holding a hamster cage, just to give you an idea of the kind of sketchiness that happens here. The signage and disclaimer about smoking and partying clearly means they have a problem with it at the hotel, but unfortunately it isn't actually being managed. Oh, and they charge a $50 early check-in fee, even though the room was already ready and they didn't have to do anything different for my "early" check-in. I tried to get a refund but they said they couldn't do it and I'd have to call back for a manager. I've been trying to call for the past 3 days at different times of the day and can't get ahold of a manager. One front desk person said he only comes in at 4; another said he's only there between 1 and 4. read more

I was introduced to the hidden gem by a client who booked a shoot with me there. I will say that most of what everyone is saying in the reviews is true. There's way too many parties being thrown in this establishment, too many young people coming in there breaking everything, smoking weed and cigarettes in the room knowing that you can't smoke in any hotel in New York City. The rooms are very nice just require a lot of maintenance and repair. The Presidential Suite is definitely one of them. The sink damn near flooded the entire room when it was used to just wash hands. The rainfall shower was missing a vital part to it. Since the pandemic the staff has been relegated to just a rotating crew. Working with limited supplies and personnel it's actually not their fault as they're working with the best of their abilities. However while I personally follow the rules I don't have a problem booking them again for a photoshoot especially since I am a regular there. read more

Decent hotel, had to ask for turn down service, staff never mentioned the hotel was closing the day before my last night of staying. I was extremely disappointed with my stay at this hotel. We stayed in a double bed suite. The room was roomy but the staying conditions were unacceptable. We were missing a shade on the window, the door knob on the door for the toilet was also missing, there was only one (1) door for the bathroom when there should have been two (2), the bathroom sink kept on backing up and there were holes in the sheets. There was a party in the room across from ours that went on until the early hours of the morning. And then when we called for towels and washcloths they told us we had to come down and pick them up. On top of that, the receptionist was extremely rude, unprofessional, condescending and unaccommodating. read more

Very spacious room but customer service sucks! My family and I checked into the hotel on June 15th. We were the first people to check in and were told that one of the Suites was not ready at that time (3pm). We were told that we could wait in the room that was ready while the other was being cleaned and would be ready in 10 mins. We were told someone would come and bring the key. After waiting for 1.5 hours we went downstairs and were told the room they were cleaning was now occupied and they did not have a room available at that time and we would have to wait until another room was cleaned. We had the worst experience with the staff member Aljouhn, who essentially forgot about the second room even after I paid for both. I asked him several times to provide the mangers information at which point he refused. We were the first in line to check in and there is absolutely no way that our second room should have been given away. Aljouhn did not apologize for his error at all and even told us he could leave. We did not have an ice bucket in our room and there was water damage on the ceilings and walls. We over looked this due to the size of the room but we can not overlook the lack of customer service. When we checked out on June 20th we were told the manager would be at the property on 6/23 at 4pm. I called and Aljouhn stated the manager was not there. I specifically asked that the manager call me back and still have not heard back. The two rooms were very expensive and I'm appalled at how this business is ran. read more

Absolutely filthy. Disgusting. Bodily fluids all over the carpet, spills and stains all over the furniture. Music blaring all night long, smells like weed, which is preferable to it also reeking of cigarette smoke, absolutely the worst, most revolting place we have ever been. We left after the first night and hurried to a nicer place where we could shower. Too bad we couldn't just burn all our things bc this place is freaking FILTHY. -No washcloths in bathroom (had to request them). -Shelf for shampoo / soap in shower was broken (requested to have it fixed; it was not). -Electrobeats coming through the walls at, I kid you not, 5:00 AM on a weeknight. -Both phones in my room were unplugged, with no wires anywhere in sight. I discovered this when I went to call the front desk about the noise. -As others have mentioned, despite being "nonsmoking," the hallways smelled of weed with undertones of cigarettes. -The website lists a continental breakfast as an amenity. There is no breakfast. -No one available to help me with my things when I went to check out at 8 AM on a weekday morning--there was only one person on duty and she had to stay at the front desk. She had me use the luggage cart myself. Some service. (Not her fault, but the hotel's management are clearly trying to cut costs to a degree that makes the hotel unlivable. One of the main issues with this hotel is the parking. There website says " parking available" buy when you get there you realize that their parking is down the street, and connected to what appeared to be an auto body shop. This hotel was horrible and filthy, an employee continuously tried to open the room door by pushing and opening it with his key pad despite it having the pad lock on. I booked a double bed room for my moms small bridal party of 4. I called the hotel ahead of time to see if they had any bridal packages or accommodations they said no. Fast forward to my checkin date. I get there and the first thing they tell me is I have a balance to pay off. Which was incorrect I paid through hotels.com, after we cleared that up. Robert at the front desk says that there are no more double bedrooms they are all booked. So I asked him what are you going to do for me because this is extremely frustrating and ridiculous. I asked for the manager there was no manager on site, there was no shift leader on site. The manager is on the phone telling Robert that I need to pay for a king room since it's an upgrade and I don't understand how you expect me to pay extra for a room that I didn't even book how was four people supposed to sleep on one bed comfortably. How do you expect someone to pay more for a room they didn't book because you don't have the room they already paid for? Like make it make sense. On top of that they don't even offer courtesy late check out you have to pay an extra hundred dollars for late check out. Also I was not giving any Wi-Fi name or password for my stay. Onto the king room now since it was an " upgrade" as soon as I walked in there was tissue shoved into the the door socket I don't know if someone was trying to make sure the door stays open I'm not sure but that's very unsafe. The blinds were twisted, dirty and broken so they weren't closing properly sunlight was coming in the next morning. The sheets had a few stains. I've stayed at this hotel maybe 6 or so times over the past 4 years. This is my first time staying here since Covid. Where do I begin? *Heavy sigh* Check in: I was charged $50 early checkin fee for checking in @ 2pm instead of 3pm. I enter the room, and can tell it wasn't properly cleaned. The floor was sticky, the towels had stains, hole in the baseboards & there was dust everywhere. Do you think I was offered a refund, & an apology for paying a $50 fee to check into that filthy room??! Absolutely not. I asked if they can please have the room properly cleaned & sanitized while I was heading out for the few hours. I instantly regretted booking this hotel. At one point, this was a nice boutique hotel that did cool things like offering cookies & fun drinks. It isn't in the best part of Brooklyn, but was the definition of a hidden gem. Now, it's run down-- the elevator was broken at one point during my stay, and I had to walk up 3 flights of stairs. The young unattractive woman at the front desk had such an unnecessary attitude. She would rather sit & play on her phone than give a guest proper attention when conversing with them. The only nice employee I encountered was named Umaj (sp) unsure of the spelling. The back of the hotel is now full of addicts & you can visibly see people doing drugs outside of your window. I do not recommend. read more

Probably the best hotel I have ever stayed at. Unlike so many hotels, the lighting was superb and I was able to read a book at night! Though this place is in the middle of nowhere for most, it is RIGHT by where I need to be. I've stayed here twice and love this place. First of all, the rooms are bigger than my first three apartments. You get a bathroom, mini kitchen (espresso maker, microwave, fridge), living room (with enormous tv) and bedroom (with another large tv). The first time I came, they upgraded me to a more ritzy suite and that had THREE separate divisions for the bathroom. Amazing. Upon booking the hotel I was very excited. All that excitement quickly left once I entered it smh, it's not in the beat area to begin with but that's never been that big of a deal if the hotel is worth it. This one however was not, not only is it noisy outside it is also noisy inside. Our hotel smelled odd and there was weed from the previous person in the room, we bought our own cleaning supplies as the hotel didn't seem thoroughly cleansed. And proceeded to make a second trip to get our own sheets as the sheets at the hotel were very thin and may not have been cleaned well. On our third night the fire alarm goes off at 1:30 and proceeds to go off all throughout the night until I had to check out at 12 pm. They might as well make this hotel 420 friendly. It stinks. Don't go to this Hotel. No matter how cheap, it's NOT worth a penny. Go nearby to La Quinta or Better yet, go to Arena Best Western. I checked in, after a good, healthy walk from the Subway. Clerk showed me a room on the ground floor and I wasn't happy about that, I thought the noise of the street traffic, people walking by and the nearby elevated train would be a problem. Then he stated that he had no other rooms BECAUSE I was only staying one night, but he had shown me the WRONG room, anyway. I wasn't thrilled but began unpacking, went to lower the window shades and found the window to be partially open. I slammed it shut, went to jigger the two locks to 'lock status' but 'no can do.' I checked the 2nd window and 'ditto'...the window would not lock. I called the Front desk and the fellow who had checked me in said her would send maintenance. A few minutes later, a large size fellow showed up and he could not lock either window. He went off to get a hammer & nail and said he would nail it shut. I packed my bag and requested the Manager. I was told she would not be available till later. I requested a refund & Help in getting a reservation at a nearby La Quinta. They were full so then I requested a search for another nearby hotel and the Best Western Arena was found. It was just a couple of blocks away but the Desk clerk directed me to walk in the Opposite direction! He couldn't even get that right!!! Booked a room at this hotel online. We arrived and checked in and were given a room on the ground floor. When we got to the room, however, there was a very loud, repetitive, nonstop squeaking noise coming from the AC vent. When we complained the woman at the front desk admitted she knew about the noise and there was nothing they could do, the whole ground floor is like that, and that was the only available room. She later admitted that her manager has instructed her to deliberately NOT inform guests booking or checking in about the noise problem. The noise was intolerable for sleeping, working, relaxing, anything. We ended spending about an hour on the phone to cancel the room and get a refund, and then we had to find another place to stay. I guess all the good reviews of this hotel are from people who didn't have rooms on the ground floor. On a side note, I was disappointed in the hotel quality- a lot of the furniture in the room and the lobby was cheap looking up close or old and falling apart. Our room was also right on the sidewalk and the hotel is right next to the highway. Overall a very disappointing and frustrating experience. read more

The Brooklyn had some 5-star moments as well as some 3-star moments so I picked 4 as a compromise. The hotel itself was well appointed, high end, with nice touches in our Junior Suite that made it very unique. There is no parking here, but a walled-in 24-hour lot a block over where you can leave your car overnight for $10. The neighborhood is not the best of Brooklyn, but we walked to a local Indian restaurant without an issue at 10pm. The staff seemed very inexperienced but polite. When asking for a local pizza place the desk clerk said Papa John's. WHAT??? In NYC?? C'mon... Our biggest complaint is that the breakfast which had such great pictures online, was empty at 9am. They still had another 1.5 hours to be open and nothing was filled. For a continental breakfast to be out of bagels, fruit, coffee, and juice, left nothing to eat. Unless we were planning to get cereal with sliced smoked salmon we were out of luck. We asked for a few things and waited 25 minutes for them to fill the coffee and juice then finally decided to leave. As we checked out we saw they had finally filled the breakfast. We mentioned to the desk clerk we were leaving hungry and she offered a meager excuse of it takes time to fill it. More than 25 minutes is too much. They could have done better. Still a good spot however, as it is reasonably priced and close to local spots like Coney Island and the Brooklyn Bridge. Be advised they will charge your for the room plus $100 at check-in. read more

I stayed here at the recommendation of a family member as it was close to her apartment. The outside is seedy and doesn't feel safe. the inside is run down. When I called about early check-in, I was told that I check-in was at 3 pm. If I wanted to check-in early, between 2-3pm, I could do that. But any check-in earlier than 2 pm would result in an extra $50 charge. I was surprised but not too surprised given the events from covid. but that was just the beginning. We arrived around 2 pm from the airport. She said check-in was at 3 pm. She let us store our luggage while we went to find a late lunch. We got back at 3 pm and got to our room. Very, very disappointing. The sink is atrocious, which you can see from the photo. The door doesn't latch properly, which you can see from the photo. Yes, there is a lower lock but at least with the top latch you would hear better if someone tried to break into the room. There were no hangers in the closet. the water puddles in the shower. And like others have stated, the elevator isn't working. I had to haul a huge suitcase up four flight of stairs, bringing up the suitcase stair by stair. Here it is 3 days later and the elevator is not yet working. last night someone in the room behind us got in late and I could hear the conversation from midnight until 1 am. The website is vastly inaccurate: there is no breakfast, there is no gym. next time I would stay at the La Quinta next door. Still close to family but at least with a national hotel chain. Although it appears that this hotel has been recently upgraded in areas, several things were missed. First, the hotel is non-smoking. The entire second floor, including my room reeked of smoke. I had to wash all my clothes when I arrived home. The rooms look newer however the sofas are a disaster (stains, very heavy wear). The furniture in the foyer is leatherette however, most of the "leather" has rubbed off. We kept our shoes on as you definitely don't get a clean feeling about the rugs either. We took the stairs for the four days we were there and a crushed donut remained on the floor for the duration of our stay. I decided to book a staycation at The Brooklyn because it was nearby, and didn't have any expectations, although I have a thing for those tubeless wheelchair accessible rooms with the benches that fold down, because I have never been able to properly fit in most bathtubs, and you can at least sitting comfortably leaning against the wall as the water pummels you at your temperature of choice because, well, that's YOUR business! In any case, it was only for a night but Natalie at reception arbitrarily assigned me a complimentary upgrade with an infinitely larger room that screamed "TOO BAD YOU DON'T HAVE ANY FRIENDS, LOSER!" Somehow I still managed to also feel grateful and awed by the arbitrary decision that I promise not to expect in the future, coz I ain't an entitled so and so. The room aesthetic was beautiful and I did indeed waste an hour or two foolishly trying to figure out who da f*ck was special enough to merit an invite without accidentally cockblocking myself? By hour two I managed to shake my existential crisis enough to actually try and enjoy even the room's most basic feature: the fact that I didn't have to share it with anybody else. Kudos to Natalie at reception for staying upbeat and helpful through her double shift. My biggest regret, sorta, was that I completely forgot that that she informed me that their fitness center was open, which is not the case for many hotels (and gyms in general). read more

I was at the Brooklyn Hotel 2 weeks ago, while there I was at the front desk and the Manager I believe his name was John was very rude. His tone not just with me but with the employee at the desk was completely unprofessional. I asked about getting extra towels and pillows and he made it seems like it was an issue. He looked at me in such a way where he seemed as if I was bothering him. He then went on to say they would have to have a house keeper bring them up. I asked how long would it be and he spoke very rudely saying he didn't know and it would be there when they can. He seems not to know how to speak to people . I would never stay here again. Nice looking space but he left a very bad taste in my mouth. Customer Service training is needed and for him to be a manger I expected a whole lot more from him disturbing that he is running the place. I also over heard him speaking to an employee in a manner where his tone wasn't professional. He wasn't talking with her ,he was talking at her as if she was his child. Get a grip!
