I had a great experience at the Aloft. With Admiral status they treated me so well. Check in was easy with a fruity drink if you had to wait for your room to be prepared. Lobby has a nice bar if you need a quick drink as well. There is a gym on the bottom floor for your workouts. Rooms were clean and spacious. The staff had your room clean and perfectly organized every day if you wanted. I was also lucky to have a nice balcony to get some fresh air when I wanted look at the nice view of the park below. If you are staying in Gowanus then this hotel could be for you. Come check them out .

I had such a wonderful experience during my stay at Aloft Brooklyn. There are many great things to love about this hotel. Firstly, the customer service I received was excellent. Checking in and out was a breeze. I also appreciated that they accommodated me with having a lover level floor. Second, the hotel itself is modern and spacious. I believe they recently did renovations. My 7th floor room overlooked downtown Brooklyn, so no complaints here! Lastly, this hotel is in a prime location. Just two blocks away from the B/Q/R train on DeKalb, and directly across from City Point and DeKalb Market. So many options for shopping and food!

Blood from killed bed bug...yuck.

While the customer service was great and the room was decent I did experience other MAJOR issues. Bed bugs...you got it right, bed bugs. I noticed two during our stay along with a roach found in the bathroom. Along with this not only do they put a hold for incidentals they also put a hold for the full stay on top of the first night. Loved our stay up until the point of bed bugs but will never stay here again. Great location but not worth the headache. Told the front desk and they were only able to give Bonvoy points. Would give 1 star but the front desk receptionists were so kind. Pool is also no longer a thing so don't ask.

Pretty disappointing. They're undergoing renovations (note to self - don't stay at a place undergoing renovations, unless you check first to find out the details.). I asked at check in where I would be able to get a coffee at 6AM and was told not here, they don't have any coffee right now. In my book, thats truly unacceptable for a hotel. The lobby, hallways and room were in disarray, I guess because of the renovations. The room was barely OK, it felt a little.run down and nothing felt especially clean about the entire place. There was no ironing board or iron in the room, although our reservation said each room had them. I wouldn't stay here again.

This Location in "downtown " Brooklyn can be very convenient- depending on where you're going. In room fridge, is nice. Electric wall outlets 3 of them- that don't work- odd and annoying. The in-room safe requires you to swipe a credit card and is also not secured to any part of the room - wtf! You will experience a loss of internet connectivity on T-Mobile due to very low phone reception and a lower reception on Verizon inside your room. No secure hotel WiFi- sad. You will likely hear the constant rumble of the elevators, street noise and the neighbors in the next room and hallway so bring earplugs and run the fan on constant. There's a Target, Trader Joe's, and many restaurants/ bakeries within a few blocks - so if you don't want to overpay for the convenience store in the lobby there are options, for breakfast, etcetera. The sink area has great lighting, a nice surprise in contrast to the odd esthetic choices of this hotel chain in furniture, decor, and utter lack of sound absorbing construction. The shower water is hot and pressure is okay- there's no adjusting the shower head. Turn the nozzle handle up from the bottom clockwise to get to the warm water. This is a Marriott hotel so it has the same terrible selection of tv service options with no ppv movies or streaming from your devices. The bed is firm and comfortable and the four pillows are of varying levels of softness- decent sleeping. The window shades are not blackout. I will not be back.

This small 170-plus-room hotel with a bright, cheerful lobby felt intimate and welcoming. Its close proximity to the DeKalb subway station and the City Point, which houses a Target store, a Trader Joe's, and the DeKalb Market Hall that offers a dazzling array of cosines, plus several interesting restaurants right adjacent to it, made it a good choice of stay when visiting Brooklyn. Our room on the 17th floor facing the City Center was quiet, cozy, and clean. It came with a small fridge. The bed was comfortable, and the shower water was strong. The staff were courteous and helpful. We had a very enjoyable stay.

Simple vacuuming of the room seemed to be overlooked too. The common areas were worse.

I spend around 300-325 days on the road a year. I have ambassador member status with Marriott and typically stay true to the Marriott brand. Without a doubt this was the worst Marriott property I have ever stayed at. I'm not sure what is going on but it seems that staff may be split between the Aloft & neighbouring Sheraton hotel so it's rare to find someone other than a security guard on duty at the desk. Upon checking in, the desk could not find my reservation although I had a confirmation code on my phone in the Marriott app. When I was finally given a room key after a lengthy check in process and opened the door to the room and turned the light on I was embarrassed to wake up a couple who from the looks of it seemed to be living in the hotel and hadn't had a cleaning of the room in a fair while. The room which was on one of the higher floors (22nd) was pitiful. Even stepping out of the elevator was a shock to the senses. Holes in the walls, filthy stained carpets in the general area and a rancid smell. The room seemed filthy too and although the bed sheets were clean, I decided to sleep on top and keep my shoes on the entire time I moved around the room. I turned on the television to be met with a greeting saying that it had been stolen from Hilton Hotel group. The photos below speak for themselves. They are doing some major upgrades apparently so time will only well, but I would definitely be sceptical of booking here and personally I won't be staying here again.

Worn black panties by the toilet.

A rude woman who did little to correct her mistake. Now I'm wet. I went to the bar to ask if they'd replace the drink. The bartender immediately said "no go ask the manager." Well alrighty! I find the manager and he proceeds to re-explain the situation as "so you want us to buy you a drink? It's not our fault or responsibility." We're adults. I never placed blame. A peculiar thing to say considering I just bought the drink and I'm in your establishment. Felt pretty short tbh. Not sure why I was expecting a different tone. He eventually just offers me a shot. I don't particularly like shots so I kindly slid the remainder of the spilled drink and declined the shot, suggesting that Managment show the next customer a little more grace and respect in tone. Obviously an establishment isn't responsible for spilled drinks and don't have to be kind at all. I get that. But I guess that's what separates a great establishment from a mediocre one just selling drinks and not an experience. Good luck to them.

Service was friendly and attentive. They served fries, ribs, chicken wings, olives etc. Our food was pre-ordered by out hosts and we had wine. Everything we had was very good , I'd go back to the bar for cocktails and the snacks. I don't think you have to be a guest of the hotel to dine at the bar . The bar area is dimly lit , so a nice place for a casual or semi intimate meet up. Our host did have the second part of the event in their suite so I got a chance to see what the rooms looked like. Spacious, clean and they had a nice view. Our hosts had been at the hotel for 4 days and were happy with the experience and service they received.

It was also perfectly located just a short walk from my Pilates studio, which made sticking to my routine while traveling super easy. On top of that, there were plenty of coffee shops and local restaurants nearby, so I never had to go far for a good bite or my morning coffee. Being a Hilton Honors member made check-in a breeze, and I was even gifted complimentary water upon arrival, which was such a thoughtful touch. The room itself was clean, cozy, and perfect for a short stay. The view from my window was amazing especially at night and I loved how quiet it was, making it easy to fully relax after long days out. They also have great amenities like a gym and a breakfast buffet every morning. The waffle machines, fresh fruit, and coffee were definitely highlights and a great way to start each day. Mallory at the front desk was so sweet and made checkout just as smooth as check-in. I stayed for 4 days and 3 nights, and everything about this visit felt seamless. I'll definitely be back the next time I'm in New York!

My main concern when looking for a hotel in NY/Brooklyn was having a microwave and fridge, and thankfully our room had both. I was also told you can request them if your room doesn't already have them. We stayed in a room with a window facing an extremely busy intersection, with honking going on all day and into the night, but thankfully, the windows were thick enough to block out most of the noise. The AC sound also helped drown it out. The room and restroom also felt spacious for what you get in NY. There was daily breakfast, which was your typical hotel breakfast with a variety of options that changed daily. It's about a one-mile walk to get to DUMBO, which wasn't bad at all, even when we had to do it in the rain. The subway is about a 10 minute walk, and there are two corner stores down the street. Honestly not a bad location! Just be careful when crossing that crazy busy intersection! I would stay here again!

If you're walking here at night... *shrug* you might feel unsafe. The front desk area is encased in some type of bullet proof glass/thick plastic... And the security guard sits across from the front desk. So they either have been robbed or own a bodega cause it has that same feel. (IYKYK) front desk guy barely said anything beside "ID and credit card" they make a copy of your ID, you sign a form that you're ok with them charging your card for incidentals, and they send you on your way. He didn't tell me what room I was in. He just wrote it on the key card. O_O. Grade A customer service. Ok. Cool. There are taped up print outs about noise, a smoking fee you'll be charged X amount if they catch you... PEOPLE ARE ABSOLUTELY SMOKING IN THIS PLACE. They may rather you not but that fee ain't stoppin nobody. (Someone randomly walked down the hall last night spraying spray to rid the smell -- it didn't.) There are Rules about how many people are allowed in what type of room. Which gives the impression that it probably gets wild during the spring/summer. The room it's self is cool. Everything seems clean. Everything has wear/tear and seems/is worn. The walls are INCREDIBLY thin. (The guy in the room next to me is currently talking on the phone about doing shrooms, bougie b!tches, and his mans needing to get his drivers license) is he in the room next to me or is he sitting in the couch in this room? The volume is about the same, might as well be a 3 way call with all of us. Would I stay here again? Probably not, but I wouldn't throw a fit if someone else booked it for me/us either. It's a bit further down on Atlantic than I'd like to be. It's like 1.5 miles from Barclays. Closest train is the A/C - Nostrand. The 2 train is like a 17 minute walk away. All in all... It's giving... We used to be a motel, but got a PPP loan, did some renovations, and we're a hotel now. Not knocking it. IJS those are the vibes.

ONE OF THE DIRTIEST PLACES I'VE EVER STAYED. I booked this hotel sometime in 2025 when reviews…read moreappeared to be favorable. I stayed in this hotel for two nights, May 19th and May 20th of 2026. What I encountered should NEVER be allowed in the hospitality industry. Immediately when you walk in to check in, you are met with the staff members behind bullet proof glass. The girl who works in the daytime has a very hard to hear voice and shows 0 emotion. The pictures show the front is decorated which is NOT the case any longer - it's just dirty and deteriorating. The lobby is out of order - chairs everywhere, the bar wasn't open the entire time we were there, and they tour down the TV that was once there. The elevator is deteriorating like the rest of the building, and you can hear it each way up and down. My partner and I walked into the room, which at first appearance looked nice. Once you sat down and looked around, things just became more unhinged by the moment. - DUST covered everything. - The floor was nasty and had dirt, scraps of food wrappers, and food crumbs everywhere. It was clear the floor had not been vacuumed in days. - The hallway was also covered in grime, and had an added stickiness to it which you felt each time you took a step forward. - The large door to the bathroom was off its hinges so it could no longer slide shut. - The shower had visible black mold. Only a few of the water spouts had water come out. The rest were either clogged or just didn't work any longer. - Paint was pealing on the wall. - The couch in the room was covered with a cheap, ripped, couch cover that had stains on it. - Visible cigarette burns showed in various areas of the room. - They only gave us one pillow and one towel. I had specifically booked the hotel for two guests. We used the hotel to quickly get ready for the rest of our night, and asked the man working at the front desk to bring up a few pillows and towels, as we explained we only had one of each. When we returned, they had brought two towels up to the room, but no pillows. My partner went downstairs to ask the man once again for pillows. He told us they would be right up. 15 minutes passed and nothing. We called again and he said the same thing - they would be right up. Another 15 minutes - nothing. I called once more, and said we needed them because we wanted to go to bed soon - I was clear my partner did not have any pillows to use as we only had one supplied to us. I was told they would be right up - they never came. When we left the next day, I was very straightforward with the girl working at the front and let her know it's unacceptable that my partner had to sleep on a "decorative" pillow from the touch which smelled. She told me they would be right up - but I told her they already said that to us -she needed to make it a top priority for us as we've asked many times. Not one apology was given for their lack of service. Fortunately, when we came back they had given us two pillows however, both of them stunk and were stained. When we woke up the next day, we realized the sheets had moved around a bit while we were sleeping, and my partner slept on a giant brown stain that could have been anything. NEVER staying here again - I hope they shut this place down soon what a joke.
