    disgusting coffee machine

I was largely unimpressed with this hotel. I'll start with the good: - Upon arrival, the man working the front desk was very friendly and helpful. When I discovered my room was right by the elevators (light sleeper), I asked for a different room and he was happy to move me. - The decor is quirky and creative. - Rooms are very spacious - plenty of room for couples and certainly large for NYC. - Safe and quiet neighborhood. And the not-so-good: - When I arrived to my room, I discovered a crushed paper cup in the bathroom, towels that had fallen on the floor, and open drawers. I was told that this is because it hadn't been inspected by a manager (I checked in around 8pm so there should've been plenty of time for that to be done). They brought up new towels for me, but they smelled like the factory, as if they'd come from a new package of towels and never been washed. They offered me a free breakfast voucher, but I wasn't able to use it due to the schedule of my trip. - Despite the initial interaction with employees being positive, I was unimpressed during the rest of my stay. The employees never greeted people coming into the hotel. When checking out, the woman at the front desk was ignoring the two of us waiting and didn't even ask how our stays were. I don't even think she told us to have a nice day. I'm not expecting effusing niceties but a little bit of care goes a long way. - The coffee pot was absolutely filthy - I couldn't believe how disgusting it was. Obviously did not make any coffee while I was there. - The beds were old and very soft and the sheets felt cheap. I was overheating all night whenever the air conditioning turned off. - Walls are thin and so it's quite loud if there are people in the rooms next to you. - The location isn't great, there aren't many restaurants or shops nearby. This isn't a dig against the hotel, this is just something you should know. If you want to take the subway into Midtown, you'll have to cross the Pulaski bridge. I ended up having to stay an extra night in the city and opted to find a new hotel rather than staying another night here. I was super unimpressed and it really wasn't that much more inexpensive than other areas. They also, like most hotels, took a resort fee, but there weren't any amenities that justified that charge. Won't be staying here again!!

Recently stayed for 3-nights in their two bedroom duplex room to attend a wedding in Manhattan and reception held at their rooftop event space. Our room was conveniently located on the 1st floor at the end of the hall pass the lobby. We did not have any issues with noise. They offer free pastries and coffee in the morning if you prefer something light to eat. The hotel is in a good location within walking distance of a nice playground for the kids, many markets to choose from, and various restaurants. The kitchen had everything we needed except kitchen towels. The only thing we had to pick up was hand soap and a roll of paper towels. The room was nice and clean and we paid $75 for early check-in around 11am. We had a very nice and comfortable stay and would recommend this hotel to stay and as a wedding venue. The reception was beautiful on the rooftop and the staff were all great.

Cute hotel, I don't really have any complaints! It's nicely decorated, and the staff kindly let us hold our bags before check in so we didn't have to drag them around town. I basically just slept here but I would recommend it

Situated in a quiet neighborhood in Greenpoint, this hotel offers excellent common areas and large rooms, most with mini kitchens and appliances! The highlight might be the lobby and on-site bar, which features unique global decor and vintage touches. There is also a rooftop with views of Queens and midtown Manhattan!

Wow. So my first night was great. I have a basic queen size room. Everything is clean, immaculate. The bathroom is beautiful. Cory at the front desk was super helpful and pleasant. My issue is happening right now. It's really wild that it is stressed no more the 2 guests are allowed in rooms designed for 2, no events allowed, and you will be escorted off the premises if having an event. I thought this was great! The type of place for me to get rest. Ha. I hear lots of hard walking and terrible singing. I call the front desk and I'm told "there's a wedding on the the roof". Uhm. Ok. Guess y'all do have events. No apologies, just "it should be over by 10:30". Wow. My five star rating deflated to a three. It's fine to have a wedding, but maybe mention that when I arrive. Maybe offer to give me another room, since clearly I'm annoyed. Did not end at 10:30, called and asked for a new room. Told it would end sharply at 11pm. We'll see. Bc I'm over it. I have ALOT of words for ownership and management. It's also poor management and construction if I can hear the wedding a floor down and it's on the roof. Insulate the room. Questioning everything. Wifi did not work for laptop or iPad. When I called about it, was told "Spectrum is on the floor, let me find out." No call back, because obviously no one cares.

All of the staff at Ace were kind, welcoming, and incredibly helpful with my questions. The vibe of the hotel was very hipster (coworking in the lobby, DJs at night in the lobby), which made for a unique experience. The rooms, while smaller, were very well appointed and comfortable. The products in the bathroom were lovely, the bed/pillows were very comfortable. If I have the opportunity to stay in Brooklyn again, Ace will be at the top of my list for sure!

A rude woman who did little to correct her mistake. Now I'm wet. I went to the bar to ask if they'd replace the drink. The bartender immediately said "no go ask the manager." Well alrighty! I find the manager and he proceeds to re-explain the situation as "so you want us to buy you a drink? It's not our fault or responsibility." We're adults. I never placed blame. A peculiar thing to say considering I just bought the drink and I'm in your establishment. Felt pretty short tbh. Not sure why I was expecting a different tone. He eventually just offers me a shot. I don't particularly like shots so I kindly slid the remainder of the spilled drink and declined the shot, suggesting that Managment show the next customer a little more grace and respect in tone. Obviously an establishment isn't responsible for spilled drinks and don't have to be kind at all. I get that. But I guess that's what separates a great establishment from a mediocre one just selling drinks and not an experience. Good luck to them.

Being a Hilton Honors member made check-in a breeze, and I was even gifted complimentary water upon arrival, which was such a thoughtful touch. The room itself was clean, cozy, and perfect for a short stay. The view from my window was amazing especially at night and I loved how quiet it was, making it easy to fully relax after long days out. They also have great amenities like a gym and a breakfast buffet every morning. The waffle machines, fresh fruit, and coffee were definitely highlights and a great way to start each day. My main concern when looking for a hotel in NY/Brooklyn was having a microwave and fridge, and thankfully our room had both. I was also told you can request them if your room doesn't already have them. We stayed in a room with a window facing an extremely busy intersection, with honking going on all day and into the night, but thankfully, the windows were thick enough to block out most of the noise. The AC sound also helped drown it out. The room and restroom also felt spacious for what you get in NY. There was daily breakfast, which was your typical hotel breakfast with a variety of options that changed daily. It's about a one-mile walk to get to DUMBO, which wasn't bad at all, even when we had to do it in the rain. The subway is about a 10 minute walk, and there are two corner stores down the street. Honestly not a bad location! Just be careful when crossing that crazy busy intersection! I would stay here again!

Customer service from the front desk and staff THROUGHOUT the stay was abysmal and horrendous. Half the time you couldn't even find someone AT the front desk to help you out with anything, and when they were there, they literally would drag their feet or pretend to do something when they actually weren't! Anytime I requested or asked for something, I would be told it's 'done' and that I'm 'good to go', but inevitably I would find out that NOTHING had actually been done!! This led to me also receiving very rude interactions with the housekeeping managers, who would act like I was in the room without permission due to the lack of communication between any of the staff here regarding my check-out times and other such issues. As for the hotel itself, it clearly is not being properly maintained, and things are grimy, dented, and nasty throughout the rooms and halls. The door handle for my first room literally BROKE, and doors throughout the building all have half broken, drooping door handles...scuffs, marks, and broken bits EVERYWHERE. It shouldn't be that hard to maintain a relatively new hotel if there was an effort AT ALL put into it, but the staff/management here clearly DOES. NOT. CARE. AT ALL. OH - and watch out for scams here when it comes to charges they'll put on your card!! They created a second folio and had multiple duplicate charges for the SAME room and the SAME nights, and have refused to remove them!! I have disputed the charges on my card and filed complaints with Marriott regarding the shady, scam-like activities that the management at this hotel engages in. Needless to say, I will NEVER stay at the Aloft New York Brooklyn Hotel EVER again - and I highly recommend that all of you steer WELL clear of it as well.
