Decent hotel. If you're staying here, just know the concept. It's not luxury. It's small rooms. I stayed for one night and got the bunk bed room. As others have said - toilet in shower. As it was just me, it was fine but I can imagine it can be annoying if you're traveling with someone else. One thing is that it's all one big room. There's a frosted pane glass to separate the beds and the toilet/shower. Meaning, if someone is in the shower or using the toilet, you can kinda see outlines of things. Just be sure you're VERY acquainted with your travel partner, especically of getting the bunk bed room lol. I wish there was a luggage stool in the room, as space is otherwise limited. When I was there, they had issues with wifi - so I couldn't connect and of my devices and the tv didn't work. Staff was very friendly. Stayed at this hotel during my short stay in NYC with my (2) puppies. The staff were friendly, welcoming and it was pretty quiet for a busy October season. These rooms are pretty small since it's meant for a shorter stay. I would say the air conditioner made a bit of noise, but it was kicking lol it was freezing in the room. The water pressure was great despite the shower being super small. And best of all this location is great!!! Whole Foods is up the street along with other shops, Joe's pizza, Apollo bagels etc. read more

The most difficult part of going to New York City is the price of hotels. Even doing a ton of research and finding a gem like this won't save you too much in the long run, but if you're looking for something convenient, clean, and with everything you need, Pod is great. This is the Brooklyn location, and it was easy for me to walk to all the points of interest nearby. There are many shared areas including a mezzanine with free coffee and tea in the mornings, plus large outdoor courtyards and rooftop gardens. If you're here with a group, it's much easier to hang out in one of these areas as the rooms are tiny. As its name implies, the rooms are tiny, akin to a cruise ship cabin. They have different floor plans, I stayed in a queen bed room. It had just enough space for the bed, a tiny desk, sink, and combo toilet/shower. Everything was super clean. Soaps/shampoos included. The toilet being in the shower was no issue, just leave the seat up to dry while you're gone. Ice was brought to the room on request. Priced overall are very high but much cheaper than an expensive hotel or a crumby one in an unsafe area. If you're traveling alone or in a pair, this is a great option. read more

Nice place. Very European style, almost hostel-like. For example, the toilet is in the shower stall. That doesn't bother me, but others might find it strange. Good quality build, comfy bed, and very small. I think our pop-up camper has more room in it :) Great common spaces, nice, acoustically sealed windows, and a friendly staff. My only complaint would be the 'free coffee' in the morning: this turned out to be a tired (single) Keurig machine being beat to death by a line of sleepy travellers. Truly horrible coffee. Just enough to get you going to get out and buy a real coffee somewhere nearby. Great rooftop and discounts at the scads of good local restaurants as well! read more

I stay in NYC about 1 week per month, and the Pod hotel brands are my go-to. They are very affordable. But they are very clean, well-maintained, and the staff are friendly. The properties are in good neighborhoods, and have a bit of character. Pod 51 and Pod Times Square are where I typically stay. But I recently spent 2 weeks at Pod Brooklyn (near the L and G trains -- an easy commute into Manhattan), which is in a great neighborhood in Williamsburg. Unlike the other Pod hotels in Manhattan, this is a new building purpose-built to be a hotel. It feels nice and modern. The common area on the second floor was full of people enjoying themselves throughout my stay. The beds are small, but comfortable. I'll definitely stay here again. read more

This was a stay-cation to clear my head and have time / space to write. It exceeded my expectations. From the moment of arrival the staff was super accommodating. I made the res online with a virtual card ‍ and the physical card in my wallet was expired. I didn't put the new one in! However because of where my money was allocated at the time, that was the only one I could use to check in with. Staff was super accommodating and even though I felt crazy and like a scammer they helped me figure out a way. So grateful to them! The rooms were surprisingly quiet - I don't think I've ever stayed in a hotel with that much soundproofing. So I got exactly what I needed. Time to think and write and also use the communal spaces, including the outdoor space which was so peaceful. One thing I wasn't prepared for was the toilet in the shower. A very conveniently located, no-fuss hotel in Williamsburg offering several valuable amenities including complimentary coffee/tea every morning, several indoor and outdoor lounge/hang out areas, water filling station, and complimentary beach bikes! The rooms are very small, no doubt about it, but we knew we weren't going to be in the room much on this trip and really just needed a place to shower and sleep. If that's all you're asking for, then I don't see why you wouldn't be satisfied with this as a lodging option. The only thing I should've paid attention to is that toilets are in the same space as the shower. We ended up making it work, but would not prefer to book a room with that design in the future just because it makes things a bit channeling when there's more than one person. They do have restrooms downstairs, though, which we utilized when needed. read more

Beware - scammy! Pod Brooklyn Hotel not only charges barely-revealed junk fees (what exactly is an 'amenities fee' and why isn't it part of the base rate? i wonder...), but on top of that, they charged my credit card WITHOUT DISCLOSING IT. Background: I came here for work; my employer made the reservation and pre-paid for the room. When I arrived, the front desk guy asked for my credit card and said it was "just for a security deposit hold", which was totally normal, so I trusted him and handed it over. A month later, I see a mysterious $70 charge on my card from Pod Brooklyn Hotel. When I called, they told me it was 'amenities fees' which had been "revealed" to me when the room was booked, and which were listed in fine print, embedded next to the pre-paid costs, on a sheet I signed at check-in. Not once did they ever tell me personally that my card would be charged for these fees. They specifically said the card was being taken for a security deposit. Avoid this scammy tourist trap if you can; just get an airbnb to experience New York. read more

We actually had a great time here! YES it is tiny. There's no debating that. The room is probably less than 10x10 total. But it's more affordable than any other centrally located Brooklyn hotels in the area, and all we needed was a place to sleep at night - this spot accomplished that! SERVICE: We were greeted with extremely friendly service upon arrival! I'd recently changed my last name due to marriage and we'd booked on hotels.com, and neither were an issue for the team. I'd lost a room key during our stay and they replaced it without issue. When we asked for a refill of body soap and an iron, they were brought immediately. COMMUNAL SPACES: There are multiple communal spaces throughout - some seats in the lobby, a huge work remote space on the second floor, and a few garden/outside patio spaces throughout the levels for fresh air and great landscaping. AMENITIES: They offer free coffee in the mornings! They had a bar and lounge area onsite but we didn't use during our stay. ROOM: Okay YES it's small, but we were just there to sleep! We were traveling as two friends so it was actually nice to have two bunk beds. They had definitely maximized the space in the room - hooks on walls, storage shelves, etc. There is a TV on each bed. The shower is similar to those you find abroad where the toilet and shower are the same wetroom. Great option for affordable stay in the heart of a great location! read more

OMG - we have been in some small NYC hotels but this place sets the new record. If it was as big as 10' x 10' - I would be surprised. No place to put much of everything. Modern, "happening", and always booked. In a good part of Williamsburg. The real killer was the size of the shower including the toilet inside the shower. So after showering you had to dry off the toilet. No fridge or bottled water. Cost was $750 for 2 nights... We would pass next time. read more

Building is pretty clean throughout the stay. A friend and I stayed here and enjoyed every moment of it. The location is amazing and very homie friendly feel through the block. Many restaurants to try and so many thrift stores to check out. Closes station to the city is only a 5-10 min walk (Bedford Av. station). The room was clean and kinda cool with the bunk beds lol. The bathroom is a bit different than some other hotels but it was functional and served its purpose. There is a grocery store next door filled with late night snacks or drinks since there wasn't vending machines at the Pod. Overall, I plan on coming back to this hotel in future because of the amazing staff and the neighborhood the hotel is located. read more

Wonderful service, everything is so clean, and it's in the heart of Williamsburg and it's such a nice area with so much to do! If you're looking for a hotel room in Brooklyn and you don't want to shell out four or five Benjamins per night, the Pod may be one of the few options available to you. We just came back from a three night stay there, and we rather enjoyed it. That said, there are some things worth mentioning. Pod feels very thoughtfully designed and well kept. From our welcome at the front desk, it was clear that they appreciated our business and went out of their way to make sure that we had what we needed. In an era when service is often the first thing to go, there was nothing that felt lacking about Pod's service. They had no problem extending our checkout time to 1 PM; another nod to courtesy that we very much appreciated. The room itself is tiny. Really tiny. For one person it'd be entirely fine. For my wife and I, it took a bit of getting used to. The most obvious thing here is the toilet, which is located inside of a frosted glass stall that doubles as the shower. From a purely pragmatic perspective it's logical and economical (and we've certainly seen this arrangement in Europe and Asia), but it also means that one's toileting isn't quite as private as many are used to. It doesn't seem right to score Pod down because of this design, but it's worth knowing about since it isn't a normal arrangement in most North American hotels. The bunk beds were comfortable, but I'd note that intimacy might require some creativity. I didn't have a problem climbing the little ladder to the second bunk, but some might. Again, this isn't a flaw in design or execution, but rather something to be aware of. The room was fitted with a small desk and chair, and nightstands (for both bunks) that were each accoutered with the obligatory 120 volt outlet and USB charging ports for the plentitude of electronics that most of us travel with now. The little reading light was a pleasant surprise. The air conditioning worked well and we had no problem keeping the room at a comfortable temperature. The wide, skinny windows were a bit odd, but we came to appreciate the sliding blinds that could be opened to bathe the room in natural light, or closed to make it pitch black. A few other thoughtful little details: Pod had no problem providing us with an ironing board and iron. The guest wifi was easy to get connected to. The water bottle filler in the lobby was a godsend. Pod is only a 3 or 4 minute walk from the Bedford Avenue subway stop, and a quick ride on the L train gets you to the 14th St Union Square stop. Would we go back? Absolutely. read more

For the first half of our trip to NY, my husband and I wanted to stay in Brooklyn, and we chose the Pod BK Hotel because it was on the cheaper side, although at nearly $200 US a night, it wasn't THAT cheap -- it was just less expensive than other hotels and not totally gross or in a terrible area. Like Citizen M it was a micro hotel (the toilet was actually in the shower stall, but at least they set it up so that the toilet paper didn't get wet), however there was working air conditioning (I even got cold a few times!).  Also, it was surprisingly quiet despite there being bars within the hotel*, and the only major annoyance was the flashing light in the smoke detector.  (WTF is up with flashing lights?!  Seriously, I think the ONLY hotel I have stayed in since I started Yelping that had ideal sleeping conditions -- dark, quiet, cool -- was the Victoria Motor Inn at Niagara Falls.) We were on the top floor, and our room was near the door that lead to a rooftop patio.  In order to access the rooftop, you had to scan your room card, but I noted that you also had to scan your card to get back IN to the hotel, which I found odd.  I made a comment to my husband about how requiring people to scan their card to get back in to the hotel is asking for trouble should someone lose or drop their card off the rooftop -- the scanner was located near the guardrail and it would be extremely easy to drop the card off the roof as you are trying to scan it.  I'm sure you can see where this is going... One night, around 1am, I was woken up by banging.  I was annoyed at being woken up, but after a few minutes I realized that someone must be locked out on the roof!  My husband threw on some clothes and rushed to the rooftop and found an older man locked out of the hotel.  He did have his card, but at that time of night the patio is closed to guests (there was a small sign saying the patio closes at midnight), yet the scanner to get OUT to the patio was still working.  Instead, it was the scanner to get back IN that was disabled!  (See, I knew that having to scan to get back in would be trouble.)  I don't know how long the guy had been stuck on the roof, but thank goodness we heard him! Overall the hotel was alright, as it was clean and quiet and that's really all I need, but it's not so cheap that I would stay there again for an extended stay unless there are no other affordable options. *There was a pub on the ground floor (which sucked), and apparently there was a rooftop bar, but it was on the rooftop of the other half of the hotel and we didn't see it :( [Yelp collections: East Coast 2022; NY Summer 2022; Hotels] read more

You get what you pay for with this place but it's otherwise still a solid hostel type of experience. The rooms are not very large and we got the bunk bed room which was not bad. The actual amenities are nice, they have multiple common places perfect for sitting around with friends, reading or even working/studying. I do appreciate that the place always smelled good and at least it was very clean. However, if you are looking for a hotel experience, this is not the place for you. Location is pretty good -- and there are nearby subway stations for you to jump onto. I mainly booked this place for its location within Brooklyn, it was perfectly central with so many different food, coffee shops and cute boutiques for you to go to. You get what is expected in the name - a pod big enough for a couple to sleep in. The toilet is inside of the shower, small space that's not enough for any activity except sleeping, but I'm not here to hang out in my room. We were on the second floor, couldn't hear a thing from the street. The AC provides a little bit of white noise, and there are USB ports everywhere. Great for a single traveler looking for something simple and can sleep through noise. If you're not that, the Pod may not be for you! I got lucky with early check in at 12:30pm. The room is tiny as expected, and yes, the toilet is right by the shower head. The shower head was randomly leaking a few seconds at a time so that was a bit annoying both in terms of getting wet and the noise. The room was clean but not exquisitely so-- there was still hair in the shower drain and the floor had crumbs... but the bed still felt clean and comfy! There are apple / android phone chargers on the alarm clock, a hair dryer, a tiny desk, and a TV (hard to figure out the channels). I was happy to have an outwards facing window for the view but it was super noisy at night! @_@ I'm a veryyyy light sleeper though. There were periods of quiet and then a random loud motorbike or car would zoom by every so often. There was construction work of some sort at 4 am as well. Definitely not a restful sleep T-T... but if you sleep like a log, this shouldn't be a big deal. 3 stars for me but I'm an insanely light sleeper (3.5 because they were really nice and stored my luggage all day as well after check out), so 4 stars for most people if you're tolerant stuff I mentioned above! read more

We reserved this hotel based on its relatively low price and relatively high ratings. But we were initially disappointed because our room (queen pod) felt very cramped when we first entered the room. Eventually, however, we figured out that the space under the bed is cleverly designed to put for two small suitcases (e.g., 22" or below) underneath, that the small sink area has space to hold our most frequently used toiletries (e.g., tooth brush, toothpaste, facial cleanser, soap, and dental retainer) and hang all our towels, and that even the stool has a middle layer to hide our shoes. In addition, there is ample public space on each floor for people to work on their computers (particularly the 2nd floor) and relax (e.g., the rooftop garden and garden outside the 2nd floor). The TV set is quite small, but it has capabilities for Wi-Fi connections to your own device (i.e., computer or smartphone), and there are ports on the wall for an HDMI connection as well. Even though the shower and toilet share the same space, the fan seemed to have a humidity gauge that would keep it on for drying the space after someone taking a shower. So, we wouldn't mind staying here again. read more

This place reminds me of my hostel days but quieter and cleaner! I was in town for a festival, so this fit the bill for someplace close to the event venue and not expensive (it's moderately priced but not cheap). I wouldn't stay here if I was older or away for a romantic weekend, but it was a good place to lay my head in between full days of festival fun. My only big complaint is that the shower randomly turned on while I was using the toilet and got my pajamas wet. read more

It was a good location to visit nearby downtown Brooklyn and Brooklyn Bridge park. They serve coffee in the morning and that's just about the end of the amenities. Stayed here for 1 night while visiting friends in Brooklyn. I now know why it's called pod because you essentially feel like a little pea in a pod since it's so small! I'm not complaining though, the price isn't half bad and the amenities they have make up for the lack of square footage in the rooms. Also, when you're in New York, you're not spending much time in the hotel anyways. It serves its purpose. We found a fake eyelash in the sheets and some hairs which weren't mine so that was pretty gross but I tried not to think too hard about it. The other downside is the fact that the toilet is in the shower and it's annoying to get your feet wet and the toilet paper gets wet. I'd stay here again just for convenience and price though. read more

I really loved staying at the pod. Incredibly well-located. Nice clean room. Friendly staff. I loved the room's layout and location near the L train is beyond awesome. A plethora of shops and everything you need. It was cold during my stay, so I couldn't use the bicycles, but very cool to have access for warmer stays. Also there is so much indoor and outdoor space to relax in at the hotel you really don't have to stay in your room. The cons for me are price - including a resort fee add-on or something (really guys!?). So it's a bait and switch situation - looks low, adds up high. I'd love to stay here every time I come to NYC, but aside from winter, you'll pay $200 or more total per night. Yeah, I know. Probably cheap for nyc, but we're not all from NYC! My husband and I used to live in Williamsburg on the North side. We wanted to head back in for his birthday weekend and did not want to spend a fortune on a hotel so low and behold Pod Brooklyn was booked ($300 in Nov). It was not super cheap either but was much less expensive than the William Vale and Hotel Jolie. The location of this hotel is GREAT. It's right by Bedford Ave and a quick walk to the Waterfront and McCarren Park. As for the hotel itself it is very clean and the staff were very nice but oh were the rooms tinyyyyyyy. When we walked in I actually stated it felt like a dorm room and that is precisely what is was. The bed was comfy but for 2 people it was tight. We knew we were only going to be staying in the room for a minimal amount of time so that's why we didn't care that much. But for longer than 1 night it would have been difficult. Also, the shower was above the toilet. I just could not get over it. Thankfully we stayed less than 24 hours so I was able to forgo and wait until we got home. I would say this place is fine if you are a single or in a super close relationship with someone. Considering the price comparatively to other hotels in the neighborhood I would probably stay again if doing a single overnight. read more

The room was big enough for passing through or as a staycation with a backpack like I was on. Personally I would not want to deal with a large amount of luggage and wardrobe changes in the room. But alone it was more than adequate. The location is phenomenal as Williamsburg has exploded with chic shopping and top tier restaurants while retaining lots of grungy and dicey places (both real and manufactured). read more

The Pod is designed in such a way that you feel like you're saving money, but you aren't. It's extremely cramped. There's barely room for the queen bed and a night stand. The toilet is in the shower. There's maybe 8 inches around the bed for you to walk in. I have stayed in places like this in Asia and they're usually bargains. At $300 a night in the middle of October, this was not cheap. And it is definitely not a room for a couple. The toilet/shower is encased in lightly frosted glass. You can see everything going on inside. So you have to ask your partner to put some head phones on and look away or leave the room altogether when you take a dump. Not at all practical. There are large, expansive, and, frankly, lovely out door open spaces between the rooms. But that just makes you realize they could have just not had them (and the landscaping costs) and simply made the rooms big enough to not have to put the toilet in the shower. This Pod is also a total tech bro dorm. I've never seen so many 20-30 somethings lounging around on laptops outside a google office. It just adds to the notion that this place is space efficient for vibes, not cost savings. This is the hotel equivalent of Elon Musk firing everyone at Twitter. read more

Stayed here with a friend on a recent trip to NYC and for a budget-friendly place to crash for two travelers it was fantastic. Clean, comfortable bed, a great location in one of the best neighborhoods in Brooklyn, and a short walk to the subway. My criteria was met. Is it the kind of place to hang out in? Nope. It's a micro hotel, which means compact. We had a bunkbed room and each bunk came equipped with their own charging stations, reading lights, and tv. There's a small desk in the room as well to store your luggage. The toilet shower combo is a nuisance but not a deal breaker for me given the price for our stay. A lot of European hotels have them so I'm not surprised a modern micro hotel in Brooklyn does too. There's a rooftop bar to get some fresh air and a drink. Staff was friendly and helpful, and even arranged a discounted car service for our ride back to JFK. I'd stay here again. read more

We loved our experience at Pod Brooklyn. Comfy, intimate rooms. So it is perfect for a birthday/anniversary weekend away with boo. Don't go with someone that you need space away from, because the rooms do not call for that. It is literally just enough space for 2 people. One bedrooms cannot fit 2 adults and a child. The toilet is in the shower... that's how "intimate" we are talkin'! Rooms were very clean and came with more than enough towels and pillows. There are multiple "gardens" / patios for you to enjoy coffee or quiet time at. We brought our work laptops and a bottle of mimosa out here. The lobby is very large and was filled with individuals doing remote work. It seemed that not everyone there was staying at the hotel. Downstairs there is a hotel bar area that serves refreshments and alcohol. Unfortunately the rooftop beer garden was closed for renovations. We hope to come back in the summer to experience it! The photos were amazing. The hotel was in walking distance of many brunch spots, convince stores, and a lovely wine bar that we enjoyed. We will definitely be back to explore more of Brooklyn. read more

I am really disappointed I was really excited to stay at the pod brooklyn, as it was recommended to me off of a trusted friend i had dropped my bags off at 8am and told the fd staff i would be returning after work around 9-10pm to stay and check in. I get back have a smooth check in and it all went down hill from there, upon inspection i discovered two stains sauce/ stains? And two hairs. I was so shocked and so tired from the day i just doused the bed with lysol and lay horizontal at the top of the bed, the room also had a weird faint smell. Then another surprise the bathroom, i had stayed at the pod hotels in manhattan but never had i seen a toilet inside of the shower just inches apart. Then when leaving the following morning from my room on the third floor i had to wait almost 10 mins for the elevator to get to me so by the time i got downstairs i placed my keys on the counter and exited! I just dont get why people dont check rooms, especially when theres ample time,'to the tune of 12hrs as i had dropped off bags at 8am and returned almost at ten pm if not a little after! It's a very, very basic hotel and the rooms are really tiny (even by NYC standards), so it's best for a single traveler or a couple. Not many places to store or open your suitcase even in the Queen room. The only pro: The location is really fantastic to be in the center of Williamsburg in Brooklyn - great restaurants, bars and shopping in every walking direction. The big cons: Even though everything looks relatively new, my issue with the hotel was cleanliness. Unfortunately after I checked in and got to my room, there was a roach inside my room on the wall above the bed (see photo), as well as some dead bugs near the foot of the bed. I just killed the roach and flushed it down the toilet immediately. The cabinet under the sink also had a small bug inside and the cabinet smelled musty/like bug spray. Gross that there are bugs in this newer(?) NYC hotel. The toilet/shower combo area takes some getting used to. It's like a tiny "wet bathroom" concept more common in Asia. Not a big fan of it but it works OK for one person. But after someone takes a shower, don't expect to use the toilet because everything in the closed-off area is wet for a few hours. But because the whole room is so small, everything feels humid after showers - so you'll have to blast the A/C (which thankfully worked well). But honestly, I can't imagine staying in this hotel with another person -- even a significant other -- because of the limited privacy and space, which is small even for NYC standards. The hotel lobby and hallways appeared clean but there were multiple dripping leaks in the hallway corridors for some reason. The Pod Brooklyn hotel is not quite up to par, and for this price there are better options elsewhere in Brooklyn and greater NYC area. read more

If I could give 0 I would. Room is 100 square feet. Front desk Eduardo, was disgusting. The most horrific customer service known to kind. We walk in the 100sq foot room with bugs, you couldn't find a toddler in here. We walked out within 5 minutes and asked for proof we wanted to check out, and Eduardo refused. read more

The Price was very good. The location was also very good. The room was very small, and I didn't like the transparent wall to the toilet, and the shower being in the same room a the toilet. It wasn't really noisy at night. I guess it was worth it considering the Price Tradeoffs. read more

If you were worried and concerned about size, this hotel rooms are very small and compact. My biggest surprise was with the shower with the toilet in the shower. Also, when you get to the room, there's a TV but there's no information on what channels are where it was a bit confusing for me being from out of town. Other than that the staff was very courteous the room was very clean, but if you're looking for space, this is not the hotel for you. read more

I think this place is great, but make sure you know exactly what your room will be like before you arrive. Here is a description of my room: I stayed in a "bunk pod" room by myself. The room was really small (maybe 10 feet by 10 feet) and the bathroom area is within this 10 by 10 area, and is only separated from it by frosted glass. Personally I would feel pretty awkward using this bathroom if someone else was in the room. Especially if that person was just a friend, or perhaps a new-ish romantic partner that I was traveling with for the first time. The toilet and shower are in the same space, and the shower water will get the toilet soaked with water, and this will need to dry off. Rooms and hallways were extremely quiet. The hotel itself has a lot of common areas and younger guests, so I wondered if noise might be a problem, but my hallway and room were actually very quiet for the entire visit. Really friendly staff. As I said, lots of common areas that are used by focused laptop users. Clientele skews young, 20s and 30s. If you are young this could be really nice re. meeting people. There are some older guests as well, however, so don't think that Pod is merely some sort of hostel for young travelers. The Clinton Bar, off the lobby, has pretty good food and drink, and is open fairly late (11:30 pm?) ... and it has a 15% discount for Pod guests. Clinton Bar is very friendly, but service can be a little disorganized. Pod is great value for being in the heart of New York. Sometimes rooms are available here for under $200. Location is great; you really can't beat it for straddling Brooklyn and Manhattan. Williamsburg itself is great, and taking a one-stop ride to 1st Ave on the Lower East Side is great. read more
