    Dirty bathroom

When something deserves zero stars but the rating system only goes down to 1 star. $300 per night and the bathroom is dirty, the a/c in the room smells so bad. The room is kinda tiny, i can't even open my suitcase. They don't have spaces in the bathroom for you to put all your stuff like toothbrush, toothpaste, makeup.....no cups for you to use to brush your teeth. Literally nothing. Wouldn't recommend this hotel. SAVE YOUR MONEY AND STAY AWAY THIS HOTEL!!! UPDATE!!! I guess SOMEONE WAS TRYING TO BREAK THE GLASS OF THE ENTRANCE DOOR so this place is not safe at all.

Stayed at The ridge for 5 days recently. Overall, I had a good experience. Pros: price- considering its location and How expensive the city is. The hotel room was clean and maintained. Lots of attractions , food, and coffee shops near by. Subway station is walking distance away. Good sized restroom (twin bed set up). Cons: they have what they call a "virtual" front desk where you either have to call/ text a number to get ahold of someone. Because of this I wasnt able to get a package delivered from amazon. Walls are very thin. The rooftop balcony area does not get good wifi signal. The room itself overall was small (twin bed set up). Overall, a decent find- especially on a budget.

My room has a "frosted" full bathroom wall next to the bedroom. Warning for new couples haha. The hotel was ok. When we first came in the bathroom was slightly dirty. You have to get your own towels and throw out your garbage. Its a good price and good location but bathroom wall was throwing me off I dont need anyone an outline of my every move using the bathroom.

As a frequent New York traveler, I can be very happy to have found this hotel. I passed by it a bunch of times and always loved the location but was afraid to book as I figured the rooms would be small. For a trip with a friend, it's always a challenge to find a room with two beds. The Ridge Hotel offered a solution for that by offering two twin beds. Not ideal, but definitely a great stay and nights sleep. The room is small, but when you are in New York, you can't expect too much. The bathroom was more than spacious and the linen provided were very nice but they'll need consistency in the design. In case the front desk doesn't mention upon check in like they did with us, there a basement with snacks and drinks and hangout area which is pretty sweet to have. Also, the rooftop offers some great views to hang out, make sure to BYOB The reason why I only give four stars is because housekeeping was loud in front of our door every morning at 7:30 although we had the "don't disturb"-sign out, which also means be quiet. And the fact that their was an AC control in the room that didn't work because they turn off the control in the room over winter. Our room, with window open reached a temperature of 78.

Quick review here. Excellent surrounding location and a fairly safe area to walk around solo at night was my observation. As stated, the basic room is a closet. Just enough room to cram in a full bed, a couple nightstands and a portable closet and mounted TV. Limited cable, but HBO was a plus and the WiFi connection was excellent. Very friendly from the greeter at the door, to the desk help. Kind to bring me a wine glass so I could enjoy a craft beer on the rooftop terrace (see pics). Very reasonable price, but would not spend more than a couple hours in my room due to the space. Will pay a bit more to see what a large room offers.

Room 507 from head to foot of bed

If you are pressed for time, here is a summary. The full description appears below. Summary: I have four major complaints, each of which is independently reason enough to never stay at The Ridge again. 1 - A Standard Double on Booking.com claims to be 200 square feet, 50% more than the actual area of 130 square feet. I verified this with a measuring tape. 200 square feet is not a rounding error, it is fraud. 2 - When I called to ask for a room that was closer to the advertised size, I was moved to a room that was exactly the same size. 3 - Only by running an air conditioning unit 24 hours a day was I able to get the room down to the lower 70's - while the temperature ranged from 42 to 55 degrees outside. Once the temperature hit 86 degrees. 4 - The bed was so hard, I had to put an inflatable pillow under my hip bone to sleep on my side. The full version: While not an entirely negative experience (the Ridge was clean and recently renovated), there are four major issues I experienced, each of which independently reason enough to never stay there again. I stayed at the Ridge Hotel October 16th-20th, 2022. When I arrived for my Standard Double room reserved through Booking.com (in Ridge terminology, it is a "Full" room), it became immediately obvious that the room was smaller than advertised. I later confirmed with a tape measure that the room was 134 square feet - not the 200 square feet listed on Booking.com. The room's advertised size was 50% larger than the actual size. This is not a rounding error; it is fraud! (Reason #1) The total area includes shower, toilet, bed, etc., by the way, not just space to move around. Walking space, including in the bathroom, is about 60-65 square feet I don't mind living like I'm on a boat, where every inch counts, as long as I know ahead of time and pay a price that reflects the size of room. But I overpaid and would not have reserved the room if I had known its true size. By the way, all the Ridge rooms - full, queen, and king rooms - are listed at Booking.com as being 200 square feet. I saw a queen size room and it is definitely bigger than a full size. A queen or king size bed would never fit in a full-size room. When I called the hotel (there are no live people; the hotel provides "touchless" service) to point out the discrepancy between actual and stated size, I asked if I could move to a room that was closer to the advertised 200 square feet. The employee agreed to move me the next day. So, I packed up the next morning and left my things to be transferred to a new room - which turned out to be exactly same size! (Reason #2) Cluelessness? Passive aggression? I don't know. When I called back to inquire, I was informed there were no other room available all week, so there was nothing they could do. The new room was actually worse than the original. It was slightly smaller (128 square feet) and the bed was so hard, I had to put an inflatable pillow under my hip bone to sleep on my side. (Reason #3) The first room got too hot (77 degrees); however, the new room was hotter. I woke up sweating at 2:30 am to blasting hot air and a temperature of 86 degrees and rising! (Reason #4) I had set the thermostat on "Cool" earlier in the evening and that did not seem to do anything, so I set the thermostat on "Fan Only" before I went to bed, thinking I would at least have some neutral air circulation. No such luck. I managed to turn the thermostat to "system off" - deactivating the heating, cooling, and fan- and I turned on a window air conditioning unit, which I was fortunate to have (most rooms don't have it). In the next 8 hours, I was able to bring the room down to 72 degrees. All this occurred while the temperature outside was 48-54 degrees. I kept the A/C on for the rest of my stay and I was able to get the temperature down to 68 degrees once, but only for a few hours, then it was back up to the mid-70's. Outside, the temperature never got above 55 degrees during my stay. If the room overheats that badly in the fall, what would it be like in the summer? I will never find out and I recommend you don't try to find out either! I could go on about lower-priority complaints, like the tedious online check-in process, lack of table and chair (though "all rooms have them", I was told on the phone), harsh lighting, lack of decaf coffee, inconvenient outlets, and cheap construction, but none of these were deal-breakers like the four issues described above. When in NYC, find yourself an ethically run hotel that covers all the basics and delivers on its promises - not The Ridge!

They put me in a room that is basically IN the lobby. Never seen anything like it. The front desk was literally 12 feet from my bedroom door and 15 feet from the bed in my room. Absolutely unacceptable.

This is the best picture to depict how little clearance there is.

Okay this hotel is one of the cleanest hotels I have ever stayed in, but that is the only reason for the four stars. We arrived and they allowed us to check our bags in and we were told that check in was at three. We left and went to explore the city. It is in a great location if you are going to see a show at the Orpheum Theater, but for sightseeing I would choose something closer to the center of town. We arrived back at the hotel to check in at 3pm and were told there was a delay in housekeeping and that our room would be ready in about 20 minutes. They told us that their were snacks and complimentary beverages downstairs. We went down and waited for our room to be prepped. Twenty minutes turned into an hour. When they finally came and got us we were given our room key and went to check out our room. It is one of the tiniest rooms I had ever been in in my life. It was fine for the night, but there was no where to sit except for one plastic chair in the corner. We had bunk beds which we were hesitant about, but from the pictures online looked manageable for a night. The bunk bed was nothing like the one pictured online. See the pictures below for an accurate portrayal. It was kid sized and the clearance between the beds was a whooping 20"...no lie I measured it. I couldn't see sit straight up because there was not enough room. The other downside was they had a lockbox over the thermostat. Our temperature was set at 73 which we thought was reasonable, but it was clear pretty quickly that something was wrong because when we returned from our show the actual temperature registered as 69 degrees. It was 32 degrees outside so to come back to a room that cold was not comfortable whatsoever. We climbed into our bed in full clothes and slept as well as we could considering how cold it was. The bed was fairly comfortable considering it was the tiniest bunk beds I had ever seen. We expressed to the front desk how cold our room was and that late check in was frustrating. She apologized and said she would past it on. I am not sure whether that will actually happen or not, but overall if you need a clean place to lay your head for a night or two this is the place to do it, but beware if you are disoriented in the middle of the night you may walk away with a concussion because you will most definitely bang your head.

Flat mattress. Notice the open window because our AC was broken the entire stay.

Traveling during the holidays can be hectic, but the staff at the Park Hyatt made everything feel effortless. Every interaction -- from the front desk to housekeeping to the concierge -- was filled with genuine kindness, patience, and warmth. It was clear they weren't just doing their jobs; they truly cared about making our holiday special. The hotel itself is stunningly elegant yet incredibly comfortable. After long walks through Central Park, returning to our room felt like stepping into a peaceful retreat. The spaciousness, thoughtful details, and quiet luxury made it easy for our family to relax, laugh, and simply be together -- which is what the holidays are really about. We had our first breakfast in New York at the hotel's "the living room" which is located in the lobby. The restaurant is absolutely beautiful with modern decor and stunning 30 foot ceilings. We arrived at 7am as the restaurant just opened and Kamil greeted us with a warm genuine smile. We've stayed at 5 different Park Hyatts in the past 5 years (Kyoto being the most recent) and no one has made us feel as special as Kamil. He has the unique gift of hospitality. He went out of his way to treat us like family and made us feel very special. All of his small gestures, friendly smiles, and thoughtful attention to detail, turned simple moments into special memories. During a season meant for connection and joy, the Park Hyatt delivered both in abundance. Spending Christmas in New York is always special, but spending it at the Park Hyatt New York elevated the experience beyond anything we could have imagined. Our days were spent with full hearts, lasting memories, and deep gratitude for a team that understands true hospitality. Unfortunately, due to geopolitical instability impacting our return route through Amman and the broader Persian Gulf region, our travel plans became unworkable. I contacted multiple hotels involved in our itinerary, and every one of them demonstrated professionalism and understanding by waiving cancellation fees given the circumstances--including other Marriott properties and the Ritz-Carlton. This property, however, took a completely different approach. I spoke with Samir in the reservations department. He refused to provide any refund. We went back and forth multiple times, and each time he introduced a new justification. At one point, he claimed the U.S. State Department had not advised against travel to the Persian Gulf and that any warning had expired on March 31. I provided evidence that there was no expiration date, yet he continued to deny the request. I also explained that other Marriott properties and Ritz-Carlton locations had already issued full refunds under the same circumstances. Despite this, he continued to refuse any accommodation. Only after I told him I would be leaving a review about my experience did he offer a future credit. That is not a practical solution when I have no certainty of returning to Morocco. I then requested that a manager follow up with me. No one ever did. Communication stopped entirely. This response reflects a lack of flexibility, accountability, and basic customer consideration--especially when compared to how other properties under the Marriott International brand handled the exact same situation. As a result, I had to absorb the financial loss and cancel the reservation. Based on this experience, I recommend considering alternative accommodations that demonstrate greater responsiveness and professionalism when dealing with legitimate, unforeseen global disruptions.

Bonus-it was clean!! The iPad system to control the room is clever: manage the thermostat, tv, blinds/shades and lights. It takes a minute for the iPad to connect (not sure if it's a wifi issue or that these iPads are an older model). Speaking of the thermostat, it kinda worked. I think it shuts off or scales back when there's no movement in the room. I had a hard time getting it cooled down to a good temperature, so I didn't sleep as well as I would have liked. The bed is very comfortable, though...and even with the small space, there are plenty of places to hang clothes and store items. Several outlets and USB charging stations available as well. There aren't any washcloths - just hand/body towels... and it's up to you if you want to have your room lightly cleaned or fully turned over. (See your iPad to make that option). There was only one elevator working, so it could take a few minutes to get your lift up or down. The staff that we engaged with were great. Check in and out were super easy. The lobby is pretty cool and hip. There's a small rooftop bar/lounge and a nice sized food/canteen area in the lobby. The location is outstanding. 50th just off 8th Ave...right in the heart of Times Square and walking distance to many other destinations. I would stay here in the future...2-3 nights is perfect. This spot is super centrally located, and during NYFW was an affordable, clean, and hip spot to stay for a few days. I am familiar with CitizenM as I have been to their hotel bars in their Miami locations, but had never stayed at one. I truly enjoyed my experience here. From check in to ordering wine or coffee at the bar, to the room, it was all lovely. I will say, the room is quite small. But truly, what do you need a big room for when you're going to be exploring NYC all day? The bed we got was a king, and dare I say it was one of the most comfortable hotel beds I've ever slept in. The room is set up a bit like a studio, with two little closets which made it easy to organize and unpack, a small desk, and a vanity in the common area. The toilet and shower are together in what kind of looks like a spaceship capsule in the middle of the room. One cool thing is how high tech this hotel is - you have an ipad that controls everything in the room from the room temp, your blinds, to the TV, to connecting your devices to the TV to stream music, etc. In the lobby bar you can opt in for hotel breakfast buffet, but instead we would just grab coffees as we were getting ready. Grace at the bar was super friendly, as was all of the staff. My one area for improvement is the elevator. We received a notice that one of the three elevators was broken during our stay and every time we would get on the elevator it would take us multiple floors up before going down. Not the worst thing in the world, but just annoying if you're in a rush to get somewhere. If you are looking for an affordable, centrally located hotel to stay with a friendly staff this hotel is your spot. You have multiple subway stations within a 1-2 minute walk which can easily get you to any neighborhood you want to go during your stay. Would definitely return!

Prime location! Modern, spacious rooms (for the city)!…read more The elevators though.... Oy. I stayed at this hotel over the New Years holiday and was thrilled to be so close to Madison Square Garden and Times Square. As was expected, check in was a bit chaotic given the time of year. The ground floor entrance was PACKED with luggage on first arrival. After weaving our way through, we located the check-in desk on the 5th or 6th floor. Tons of people but adequate seating to wait for our room to be ready. An upper floor meant having to figure out their dreaded elevator system. It left something to be desired, to say the least. With only 3 elevators that service the whole of the hotel, and a 4th that goes who knows where, it was almost always a lengthy struggle to catch one. No buttons on the interior of the carriage, all elevators were called with a touchscreen device that seemingly tried to pack as many people as possible into one small space, leaving many behind that couldn't fit, before directing the passengers to another elevator to repeat the whole process over again. One day was so bad, it was actually preferable to walk up the stairs to the 14th floor. Woof. The room itself was wonderful. Spacious, with 2 beds. Very clean. Beautiful view of the city and the arena next door. Great way to catch the sun set. Walk in shower with both an overhead and handheld shower attachment. Great lighting. Shower had heavily frosted glass that faced the bedroom area so be prepared for your silhouette to be on full display for anyone you may be rooming with. Nice sized closet, safe, and mini fridge. Big flat screen television. Window shade worked very well to block out the light if you're hoping to sleep in late. Walls can be a bit thin, especially if you have a rowdy bunch of kids right next door as we did. Aside from the elevators, the perks far outweighed the usual peskier elements (e.g., noise, etc.) one encounters when staying away from home. Would stay here again, perhaps during a less busy time of year, if that's even possible.

I got a petite room since I was traveling alone which I would not recommend for a couple, but for me it was perfect. The bathroom area was the best part and not at all an afterthought. They knew women would be coming and they nailed it, down to the magnifying mirror. Whenever you get to spend time with other book lovers, it's a plus, so I also very much loved being able to talk to people in the common room on the 2nd floor. Often times NYC misses this in their hotels. The books here aren't anything you really want to read so bring your own books but all in all 5+ stars for me!

Fellow bibliophiles will especially appreciate the concept of this book-laden bolthole. I really enjoyed being able to pop into the Reading Room at any time and get tea, water, fruit, and other snacks. The hotel's bar, Bookmarks, is a lovely space on the 14th floor to meet a friend for drinks, but make sure to get a reservation before heading up. Each floor of the Library Hotel is dedicated to one of the ten major categories of the Dewey Decimal system. My room was 800.003 Poetry, which is a petite room with one full bed. And when I say petite, I mean it! Think room for a bed and little else. But this is NYC so I didn't need much more. If you want to be in Midtown Manhattan, the Library Hotel is a perfect choice.

All the meeting rooms were clean and organized. We had over 1,000 conference attendees and needed ample space and everything went pretty smoothly. Temperature control was generally good, but got a tiny bit chilly at certain points of the day. The staff were extremely prompt with setting up and removing catering food, but were not the friendliest. They have a free standing pumping station for those that need it. It was easy to access and decently clean, but could've used a wipe down by the second day. They provided a mini fridge in one of the meeting rooms for storage.

AVOID AVOID AVOID! DO NOT BOOK HERE!…read more I came here around April for a work trip and no where on the reservation page did it say that the hotel was under construction. They also offered the price including breakfast. Arrived at the hotel and saw that they only had one working elevator for a hotel that was over 20 floors high. There was a line for the elevator that you had to wait for at least 20 minutes to take. I asked the about the breakfast and they said the restaurant was closed so no hot breakfast. Why is this hotel offering a room rate price with breakfast when there is no restaurant for breakfast?! They told me they had bagged breakfast, which was always gone and coffee was all gone too. Took over 10 minutes to wait for new coffee to arrive. Renovation work bright and early at 8am. I was offered loyalty points for compensation by the manager, Delanie, and these points never showed up. I was also mistakenly charged for drinking their water bottles when I didn't even touch those bottles. They never even told me that I was going to be charged after checking out. I just saw a random extra charge on my credit card. The manager, Delanie, had said this would be refunded, but never saw this refund come through just like the loyalty points.
