This was absolutely the worst experience I ever had. I came in having a good time. I asked for no meat sauce. We got back to my friends house and there was meat sauce all over my plate. My friend drove back there and was told they needed the plate back. She did that on her own. She drove me all the way back there and your employee said why is one almost gone. Are you kidding me? I said I should throw it at you, but the guys coming out from the back was totally uncalled for. They kept referring to my uncle....... unacceptable and I want my money back. I love garbage plates just as much as the next Rochestarian ... This place is not the best, but not the worst. It's a hit or miss with service, regardless of how many other orders are in the queue. However, one of the workers once recommended I try the grilled chicken plate with cajun seasoning and I must admit .... WOW. It was like an orgasm in my mouth. I haven't seen any other place offer it and I will be getting it from now on whenever I go there. The prices are a little steep, but normal for plates. Perfect location, too! Love being back home to visit friends. Even better when getting food at the local "hot spots" in town. Went to a place familiar to my generation called Henrietta Hots. A knock off of Nick Tahou's if you will. I came looking for the UPST8 classic "plate" if you will. Ordered my fav : cheeseburger plate with home fries and mac salad and the awesome bread it comes with. Love the meat hot sauce drizzled all over the mac and fries. The ketchup and mustard poking through the the diced onions. MMMMM. BUT WAIT!!! My joy was short lived when we found out that there was no more bread available and when I opened my styrofoam container there was no ketchup, mustard or diced onions I was craving so much. So I asked the super nice lady at the front counter (NOT! You would have thought her kitten had died she was so pleasant) if the meal came with those toppings. She then torted "did you order everything?" No, was my reply as I used to remember that being part of YOUR job to ask that when you took my order. Don't ASSume that I have eaten here before. Like I said earlier, super nice. Anyway, after draining my food of "juice" (see pic) I proceeded to enjoy my meal in the amazing new decor (see pic) because they expanded two years ago. Three strikes they're out!! Strike one is the fact that there is no lighting in the parking lot but a large pot hole that almost blew my tire. The second strike for me was when I went to get lunch and watched two of their cooks hit vape pens in the building while one was joking about how high he was the night before. Not a great image for a family restaurant if you ask me. The third strike was when I went there tonight and they are out of almost half their menu. I tried to get a tuna wrap, no tuna. Chili, haven't had that in 2 months another customer says. Pizza logs, boss for my steak? Nope not getting that either. I got my pop out of the vending machine cause they were out of that too. How do they expect to make money if you don't have the product? Now! With that said let me talk about how run down the building looks! I couldn't get a picture of the grill area but from the lobby it looks like there's lines covered with grease hanging from the ceiling. There's a part of the wall that has water damage and makes me wonder if mold is growing behind it. The rock motif and red paint are all coming off the wall and counters. The bathroom urinal wall was ripped off and the toilet paper holder was busted. I used to hear good things about this place. Great little spot! My girlfriend loves garbage plates, they're nostalgic to her college days with her rugby friends. Served in a styrofoam container the food isn't messy, and is of high quality. The only reason I am giving one star is because their plates are good. I just called and whoever I spoke with was extremely rude. I didnt even get a chance to ask anything else before she hung up on me. I ate here about 8 months ago and they sold me a steak sub. The steak was way undercooked. I went to the counter and let her know. She got nasty to me about it and huffed and puffed about making me another one. It took about 20 minutes for another one. The last time I ate here which was months ago they sold me a sub that had moldy bread. When I called to let them know they got extremely rude and defensive with me. I refused to try them again until tonight. I called (I work overnights its 1:30 am) I wanted to order over the phone because I am on limited time. She said we dont take phone orders after 12. Then I said okay. That was not the reason I am upset though. Just as I was about to ask something she hung up on me. That and her tone is what made me upset. Screw this place. I will never eat here again. She had such an attitude with me I am amazed this place has any customers left speaking to people that way. I also seen in Google reviews that speaking and acting that way towards customers is a regular thing for them. Unbelievable. Very upset and dissatisfied. Can I just say....absolutely craveable?!? Who wouldn't love the hot crispy home fries with the cold Mac salad, 2 cheeseburger patties and some ketchup? ( I don't get the chili, mustard, or onions... But lotsa people do!) Garbage plates located right by RIT campus...GENIUS!! When I went to school there, we had to drive down by the airport which, after a night out was a bit of a drive but...we all did it. I remember when Henrietta Hots first opened . The food is amazing. Yes it's a plate so some people will not like it. The customer service is excellent. The food did not take long at all to come out. The resturant is very clean. Just got a plate from here for first time. When I got home there was about a full cup of brown liquid in the bottom of the bag. Not sure why but it was disgustingly unappetizing to say the least. Laziness on the chefs inability to strain the Mac salad and hot sauce. Won't be returning. read more

Horrible service!!! I asked the lady at the front counter if they could add marinara and mozzarella to a chicken finger sub to make it like a chicken parm sub, she asked the cooks, they said yes but the sauce would be cold. I told them I was fine with that. About 10 minutes later, I could here the cooks saying they were not going to add the marinara to the sub and I could put it on myself among other things which was extremely rude! The food took forever! Once we got our food, they only gave me 2 little sides of marinara and told me they would have to charge me if I needed more than that. They didn't give me marinara for the mozzarella sticks or pizza rolls we ordered and to top it all off, most of our food was cold!! Never again!!! read more

Amazing garbage plates that are super cheap. The place is open late, and is the perfect place for a late night meal. My personal favorite is the cheeseburger plate with macaroni salad, onions, and fries. You got a few slices of rye bread and as many sliced pickles as you want. Was in town on business and everyone said I needed to try a garbage plate. So decided to try here and am I glad I did. I got the steak plate. Basically a cheesesteak over macaroni salad and fried potatoes covered in meat sauce. It was awesome. Not sure what I was expecting but the way the flavors mixed tasted great. Somewhat stingy with the mac salad and home fries, sauce was bland and tasteless, fountain drinks were watered down, employees aren't exactly customer friendly. On any other Friday My husband and I would go in and spend a good $25 dollars on food and this is on a weekly basis. (At least once a week) But having gone in this past Friday I can safely say unless their front end service improves we will not be returning. I have worked in fast food for 6 years and my husband for 8 years, we have always assumed the customer is correct since they are spending the money in that establishment. But apparently this place doesn't assume the same thing?! Every Friday we, as well as twit other friends, stop in on our way home to get a red hot plate and a few other items off the menu. After 12 pm you put your bucket of pickles away but the female employee that NORMALLY runs the front end always gets me a small container of pickles to go with my sandwich that I am purchasing. Tonight I explained to the NEW female running the register that they usually do this for me and she said she wasn't allowed to do this. She then sends another employee out to tell me that they would have to open another container and that if they were to do this for me it would cost me another $3 and some change (for a tiny, SMALL container of pickles, this container would contain max 6 dill pickle chips) on top of the $17 I just spent on food. I feel that this is completely ridiculous. I am in at least once a week and asking for a tiny container of pickles to go with my sandwich isn't that much to ask for. The other employee has never had an issue in the past. I understand if it were to cost me an extra 0.10-0.50 cents for a small container, and I would be more than happy to pay that if needed, but $3.00 is ridiculous. My husband and I have decided if this is the service we are going to receive here we will not be returning in the future and we won't hesitate to tell others the same thing. I'm sorry it has to be this way, but working in customer service myself I would never treat a customer like this. If you want someone to spend money in your establishment I think you could meet their needs if it's a reasonable request, (which this is). read more

Another good experience. If you're looking for a tasty, affordable, garbage plate, Henrietta Hots is the place to go. I went around 6 p.m. on Saturday so not surprising, it was pretty busy. The staff handled the rush very well, and were very polite/patient. All six of us got our plates in about minutes. Another nice part of this location is not only is their a good sized parking lot, but I have yet to see the lobby filled up during rushes. Next time you're looking for a plate in the Henrietta area, I highly suggest you give them a try. read more

If you love garbage plates this is the place to go, especially after drinking late night. I'm a Henny hots alum since my RIT days. Always one of my first must have stops when i visit home. Food is kind of greasy but to be expected, and surprisingly the service was faster than most busy places at 2am (depending on the place your order falls). Customer service is surprisingly pleasant despite the fact that the older woman taking my order looked over whelmed with orders and 2 lines of customers. She's basically a staple in hots history (as I remember her from 10 yrs ago) However, she was very smiley and attentive. The night crew service is hit and miss. The younger reddish hair lady with the nails and tattoos... was very polite & patient as my friend I was with had never been before. She was thorough with her explanation of how plates "work", as well as recommendations. Every time I stop in she's cleaning, but jumps right on register when we walked in. Which of course gives me some sort of comfort in their cleanliness. The "miss" part would be the loud music that's blasting on occasion or the curly haired lady who looks miserable every time I see her, and mostly talks to cooks, loudly I might add ..but as far as food goes, I would recommend the classic cheeseburger plates, ( I think ) with mustard onions meat sauce (everything), they definitely changed their chicken tenders which in my book is a +. But the best plate by far my fave, would be the steak and mozzerella. I do wish they would be a little more generous with the meat sauce given on plates (it's the best part) Prices have gone way up over the years which is to be expected in mom and pop shops, but you are surely getting your $$ worth with the generous portions of food given!! All and all, this place by is every bit of good as it was 10 years ago when I started going there after a rager RIT party or lunch with the gramps ( who highly recommends the red hot plate) I will be back again my next trip home!! 5 *s read more

I love garbage plates for starters... My review is based on the eating conditions observed this evening. After receiving my food I went towards the vending machines to grab napkins and walked into a bunch of nats near the fountain machine. They were sitting on the lids of the ketchup and mustard machines and all over the drink dispensers... Clearly I did not order a drink so my instinct said look up and when I did they had 4 huge flies on the ceiling. I can only imagine this was due to the "EXIT" door being open on the right side of the kitchen. But to top it off the bread I was given was so old, it was a step away from being a crouton. Suggestion: Check your bread and close the back door please. Its a good place w/ great pricing but no one wants to go to the self serve area and be greeted w/ nats. read more

the food is okay, but the customer service can be pretty bad sometimes, even when they're not busy. several times now, i've called, and the woman who answers tells me to please hold without giving me a chance to speak. and sometimes i'll be on hold for 3 or 4 minutes. the last time my girlfriend and i were trying to phone in an order before we got there, and she put me on hold for 14 minutes. during that time, i was unmuted on her end, and she basically just put the phone down and proceeded to have conversations with the 2 guys in the back working the grille and occasionally having a conversation with a customer that wasn't related to ordering food at all. so she put the phone down and forgot about me. then when i walked in to the restaurant, and showed her that i was still on the line listening to her conversations, she tells me that they don't answer the phone when its busy. that's not a company or restaurant policy written anywhere, that's just what she decides to do, if they have more than a few customers, they just refuse to answer the phone. but when i show her i was literally on hold with the restaurant line, she panicked and stuttered that someone was calling the phone (while i was still on the line) then she pretended to answer it, repeatedly saying hello? then i looked at her, and hung up the phone and left. i understand its not supposed to be a fancy restaurant with 5 star service, but you'd expect to be treated with at least 2 star service. The staff really needs to learn how to attend to customers more efficiently, and to NOT stop answering their phones when they have more than 3 or 4 customers in the dining area. that's such an anti-customer policy, ignoring the telephone because you don't want to work a little harder. read more
