New to the area and this was my first garbage plate experience. So much food! I ate 1/2 and saved 1/2 for next day. I honestly was kinda scared of the appearance and description of the garbage plate but still tried it and was pleasantly surprised. It was really good. The way you order is a whole thing. I got 2 cheeseburger patties, mac salad, home fries, ketchup, onions, and meat hot. On top of all that, it came with 2 slices of white bread and butter. read more

It's been a while because I don't live in the area anymore but I stopped in today to get a white hot with everything. I was disappointed. I always thought that this place was the best for garbage plate and especially their sauce. But I guess things have changed. Let's talk about the price $7.02 for a hot dog. I can remember not so long ago where I could get a hot dog and an order of macaroni salad for about $6. I know things are more expensive nowadays but I'm sorry $7 for a hot dog is ridiculous. But more importantly the sauce I used to love from this place was so dry and so flavorless they are obviously cutting back on the spices which are the most expensive ingredient. It's too bad. read more

Best plate outside of the original. I usually order online and pick up inside. Don't forget the pickles!

I ordered on a GrubHub and when I was eating the fries they tasted like freaking cow manure that means it's a bad potato freaking disgusting I almost threw up! I hope I don't get sick. read more

We wanted a garbage plate while visiting RIT. It's not an OG Nick Tahoe plate, but it's was a great alternative!

Me and some friends decided to meet up and eat dinner at Henrietta Hots before going to watch my friend's hockey game and it was a pretty good experience. While this is a smaller restaurant, they were able to easily accommodate our group of seven. Two of the friends I was with were from out of state and wanted to give the Rochester garbage plate a try! They also sell hoodies and t-shirts inside the restaurant and my friend bought a hoodie as a momento. I ordered a make your own garbage plate consisting of: a cheeseburger, a chicken tender, curly fries, macaroni salad, pickles, onions, and mustard. When I received my plate they had also put jalapeños on it (which is not what I ordered and I didn't even realize they offered), however I'm a fan of spicy foods, so I wasn't bothered too much by their inclusion! Overall, I would give this place a try if you're a fan of garbage plates or would like to try one! read more

I decided since a friend loves this place to give it a try. I ordered the hamburger garbage plate with my choices of baked beans and Mac salad and toppings of sauerkraut, lettuce, the meat sauce and raw onion. Who knew sauerkraut would taste amazing on a garbage plate? Was it the best place to get a garbage plate? No, but I would definitely go back! read more

Came here with my nephew who has now been introduced to garbage plates... or the many versions of. I figured the food would be the same or similar to the previous owners of Henrietta hots... located down the way on West Henrietta rd. Unfortunately it's not the same for me. Staff was friendly but the taste is just off. Ordered extra crispy home fries and it was still not enough. Cheeseburger was dry and chewy. Hot sauce was also off... maybe I'm to picky but i miss the old place. read more

This food maybe considered slop, but let me tell you the slop is delicious. You can get the typical meal or you can customize it to your liking. From hot dogs and hamburger patties to chili and cheese and toppings; the combinations are endless. They have such friendly staff too. They help guide you on what is best and what to avoid. Some things don't mix well while others do. There is debate about who has the best and I would say Henriettas wins when it comes to a delicious mess of food! read more

This was a totally spur of the moment choice. I had an appointment in Henrietta and wanted a grilled cheese, and decided to go all in and make it as unhealthy as possible. :) I ordered online (which I absolutely love to do) and it was ready when I got there. For a garbage plate place, it was very clean and nice inside. I normally wouldn't sit at one of these, but this one would have been fine. They also had a nice condiment bar, and I got some mayo and pickles. I don't like pickles, but I saw the reviews on here, so I grabbed some for my husband. It had two grilled cheeses, and I liked the round bread. They were both good. The fries were also good, and so was the macaroni salad. I got mayo and ranch on it, and honestly, that was a little much for me. I like things plain, and I just dip my fries, so it was just too much to have it all over it. I wouldn't do that next time, but I'd definitely go again. read more

The locals have told this Hoosier boy I have to have the "Garbage Plate" it's a Rochester original that dates back to when you were done drinking for the night you needed something to eat and this "plate" covers all the food groups and then some. I ordered mine with a burger & bbq pork. It automatically comes with: hash brown potatoes, macaroni salad, a special meat sauce and a vegetable ( I did grilled onions). It comes with bread to "mop up the grease". I could not eat it all. The service here is great and NY hospitality for sure. Bottled drinks, nothing on tap. The dining room gives that old world flair and is quiet and warm/cozy. The menu board is digital but everything in the back of the house is made from scratch. I liked it but I a guy that doesn't like my foods to touch on the same plate, so this one broke all my rules. Some when in Rochester NY, make sure you eat a garbage plate. Garbage Plate read more

Who knew that a slop of mess of food in a to-go box would be so delicious. We got hot dogs And cheeseburgers on ours and also added some extras like mac and cheese and nacho cheese and onions to it. They called us like garbage plate which makes sense because it's just piled full of everything and anything and it really is delicious. You can customize your plates or get it as is like they're special or you can get something completely. Not garbage plate related but we only ordered the garbage plate so we can't speak to all the other food. The meat sauce was not super spicy, it was just an average spice. The macaroni salad was not overly wet or overly dry. A nice combination of dressing to noodles. The bread and butter was delicious too. One can use it to clean up the slop on the plate, or if you're really adventurous, dip it right into the greasy meat sauce. Or you could just eat the bread and butter by itself to help wash down everything. Just know you might need a Tums or two after eating this because I mean it is exactly what it is a garbage plate. The place was clean and the staff was really nice, especially considering it was our first time in there and she walked us through everything. Everyone was very helpful. read more

I'm not sure why this place doesn't have better reviews. We stopped here passing through town and loved the fact that their "plates" were a bit of a "choose your favorites" layout. We tried two options and the server made a point of assuring my husband tried the meat sauce (noting it was the best part). They were spicy (in a good way) and huge portions!! We took half of it home for lunch tomorrow! Also-- service was friendly and efficient!! read more

BEST garbage plates in town! SO GOOD! Even when I've doordashed from here, everything Was hot and fresh! My favorite is the grilled cheese garbage plate. I've also had the chicken finger one, and that was pretty good too. I think my favorite thing about these garbage plates has got to be the Mac salad! read more

They do the garbage plates right! We ordered here twice after visiting the Rochester Dome Arena. They answered the phone quickly and took our order in a quick abs organized fashion. It was a fast turn around on both occasions. They got our order perfect. The pick up and payment was also pretty seamless. I loved that they had Apple Pay because it just makes things so simple. We had a long drive home so we asked for the "hot sauce" on the side. They wrapped it up in foil so it wouldn't leak and it was still leak free by the time we got home. The plates were delicious. We have now been here twice and would send anyone looking for a garbage plate to Henrietta Hots! read more

This garbage plate is literal garbage so is the customer service and dine in area. Dive diner in a bad way. Greasy dirty rude gross meh! A pool of grease and soggy gross hash browns and soggy noodles just covered in mayo with no flavor. Flavorless gray meat and bland chili sauce. Gross! They charged us extra for extra cheese and they didn't give it to us. We said no mustard and they put a ton on it. I went up to the counter to bring it to the rude older lady's attention at the counter and she looked at me and then never helped me she just ignored me. We didn't eat it ugh total waste of $18 for 5 bites of food. read more

Plate is good but is always out of bread. This is what happens when a dinner buys a plate spot. The best addition to a plate is the bread. How can you always be out when you sell the most plates. When it was down the road they always had extra brea, even at 2:00am. read more

Ordered lunch with coworker. He got a plate and I got a salad. He stated that the Mac salad tasted a little funky. he also ordered his meat sauce on the side and he didn't get it. My husband and I stopped in spur of the moment after an appointment in Henrietta. We both ordered the bacon cheeseburger value plate - mine with lettuce, tomato and sauteed mushrooms, his with lettuce, tomato, jalapenos and the meat hot sauce. After the first bite, the first word that came to both our minds was FANTASTIC! My husband's french fries were crisp and hot. My mac salad was just the way I like it. The friendly staff and homey surroundings made our lunch perfect all around. Next time we are in the area we will definitely stop in again. read more

I used to live in Rochester while I was a student at RIT. This is my go to place. I'm a picky eater and never thought to eat food like this. Until a friend of mine got me drunk then convinced me to eat this... I was a big fan. Big enough that I eat there frequently while sober. Their garbage plate is AMAZING. I was bummed having moved to downtown because it's far away. Knowing Rochester is famous for Garbage Plate, there were many different restaurants that also makes it. Nothing won my heart like Henrietta Hots. They forever have a place in my heart. P.S. I love their homemade pickles. I never leave without grabbing some. read more

As a self-proclaimed garbage plate enthusiast, I feel I may have the chops to analyze any plate but in front of me. The standard plate at Henrietta Hots is very good - closer in feel and taste to the original, rather than some of the more modern offerings. Meat sauce was the highlight, and the home fries had the perfect amount of crisp. Food came out very quickly and the portion was also a good size. My only complaint was that the plate was a bit watery, and I'm not entirely sure why. read more

After attending the Lilac Festival, my step-daughter wanted to experience a genuine garbage plate for the first time. Having grown up in Rochester, I know that they were invented at Nick Tahou's. That said, I have always thought Henrietta Hots made the best plate in town. I had not been here since the COVID-19 outbreak and was really pleased with their new location. It was extremely clean and lacked the run-down look of the old place (which I never minded). The have seating inside and a small patio outside with tables and umbrellas. The counter is immediately in front of you when you walk in with staff that all wore masks. The menu boards are well designed and I give them credit for the garbage plate cheat sheets for newbies. My step-daughter enjoyed a less traditional plate with cheese sauce and mayo as toppings (hot sauce on the side). She loved it! I devoured a traditional plate consisting of a red hot & cheeseburger over mac salad and fries with hot sauce, mustard and onions. It was so big I could not finish it. As a final note, I love the homemade pickles they make here. I was concerned that they would not have them given COVID-19. I was so excited to see that they they had them pre-portioned, in lieu of the large pickle container with tongs. I look forward to bringing my other out-of-town friends here the next time we visit. read more

I finally made it out to Henrietta Hots after hearing good things about their plates, and I was impressed. Their meat sauce is thick and flavorful, with a nice spicy kick. The mac salad was also delicious, although the home fries were a bit soggy. Overall, I think this is one of the best plate locations in the area, and I will definitely be returning. I hope they add more outdoor seating for the summer weather. read more

Had the opportunity to swing by here as my Junior attended an open house at RIT. It was, of course, snowing ... because Rochester. IN ANY CASE, I asked for advice for where to go for the best garbage plate while I was on campus and learned that this is a very controversial question ... but was nevertheless directed here since it was close to campus. We were not disappointed. Nor were we able to finish our plates. What can I say? The staff was friendly, the menu was clear, the food was delicious. That said, I'll echo the reviews that said the mac salad was watery... but I didn't feel like that detracted from anything. Oh! And of course since this was my first time ordering a garbage plate in Rochester, I screwed up. Totally whiffed on adding any starch so I went back to the counter to see if they could add home fries after they'd already sent the order to the kitchen. One quick holler and they fixed my meal on the fly - no fuss, no muss. Like I said, great service. So, if this is your first time to Rochester and looking for some local fare that's hard to find anywhere else, I think this is a great spot for lunch or dinner. read more

Henrietta Hots Advice. 1. Get drunk. Very, very drunk. 2. Order a plate. Perhaps a cheeseburger/white hot plate, with mac salad and freedom fries (or whatever horrible, cardiac arrest-inducing combination you prefer). 3. Be careful not to call them French fries, or you risk the wrath of the impressively patriotic man behind the counter. He's the one wearing a cutoff U.S. Army t-shirt, with the huge lip of dip in and the cross tattooed on his right arm. Don't point out that his own menu clearly states France as the origin of these particular fries. He doesn't like that. 4. Give him your name. 5. Take it in stride that he gives you the last name of a famous American historical figure (Jesse James, Andrew Jackson, etc.). 6. Step aside, and get a drink from the vending machine. 7. Wonder why they even bother listing wraps, sandwiches and salads, when everyone's here for a plate. 8. Play it cool when he calls out Brad Pitt's name. Of course Brad needs a garbage plate after an evening of boozing. 9. Wonder why Brad looks so different in person. 10. Ask your girlfriend if you can play Tekken. 11. Try not to throw a temper tantrum when she inevitably says no. 12. Try not to judge the idiots and their idiotic conversation at the next table. Chances are they are not at their best currently. Neither are you. 13. Receive your garbage plate. Eat about half of it, entirely too quickly. 14. Try not to vomit. 15. Resume eating. 16. Wonder what it will look like when it comes back up. 17. Finish the plate, or throw it out.* 18. Turn to people and ask if they'd like to vomit together outside. 19. Let them decide if you're kidding. __________ *DO NOT TAKE IT HOME. Tomorrow morning, in the light of day, you do not want to see it. You'll be disgusted with yourself for ordering such a thing. Because you don't eat a garbage plate at Henrietta Hots because it is good. You don't eat it because they are better cooks than you. You eat a plate here because you don't have the balls to put together something this gross at home. This monstrosity has no place in your home. It is only for when you are very drunk, and it is only to be consumed here. read more

It's been quite a while since I've had a garbage plate so decided to hit up Henrietta hots. First visit at the new location. I always enjoyed a plate here but seems things have gone way down hill since they moved to the new location. Just NOT good. New owners? Tasted nothing like I remembered. Quality was horrible, Mac salad was a bit slimy, Homefries were undercooked, hot sauce was watery, burgers had to be of the lowest quality you could buy. And wow! Overpriced! for such a disappointing meal. Extremely unhappy! Find another place if you're craving a plate. I know I will. read more

The home of my garbage plates that I'd venture out with friends after a night of drinking at RIT. The plates are just like what we remember 7 years ago. This location definitely has changed in terms of expanding the restaurant as there used to be some other shop next door. The menu list also has a new long list of food items that wasn't on the original the last time we were here. We ordered the real garbage plate which is: homefries and mac salad with a red hot and a cheeseburger with a nice heaping scoop of the hot meat sauce on top. It really hit the spot for us after enduring the most horrible 14 hour day at the airport trying to fly in from Florida. My husband noticed one change with this garbage plate, the slices of bread that comes with it is "the whitest bread I've ever seen". It definitely isn't like the original french bread.... It tasted so bland and felt like a kitchen sponge. No. Definitely not like the bread from 7 years ago. I remember it being almost as a sourdough flavored type of bread. It was unfortunate that they changed this part of the garbage plate as we didn't eat the bread and butter at all. But on the bright side, the employees were still very cheerful, despite it being well after midnight!! read more
