Restaurant is definitely fine dining with valet as it's only option. Restaurants decor is beautiful and has really cool vibe in it. Service was good but nothing exceptional. I found myself fill my own water and wine more than a few times. Not that there's anything wrong with that but usually those steakhouses are quick with it. Oysters were awesome, fillet tar tar was amazing. I had the Colorado ribeye and the steak didn't have much flavor at all, wasn't impressed. My favorite thing was the creamy spinach it was out of this world. Reason I'm giving this establishment three stars is because I just think it's missing something. The chairs were old and uncomfortable and my experience is eh. Check it out though they got a cool bar! read more

This place is wonderful. The service is great. The food is delicious and fresh. We love their brunch. The restaurant is beautiful and charming and very clean. I highly recommended it! read more

Chef needs to learn the meaning of steaks cooked medium. Other reviewers said same thing - overcooked. Kids got burgers that were supposed to be impressive; Nothing special at all, served with greasy fries, $20. Caesar salad had zero dressing on it. Waiters did not speak English well, so orders got messed up. Wait staff also incapable of handling a basic issue we had while dining. Manager advised of situation and made excuses. The decor is tasteful, but unfortunately the only thing high-end about this place is the price of the food. Maybe it was better in previous years as they seem to be getting a lot of negative reviews lately. read more

Came here for lunch on a Sunday and really enjoyed it. The zucchini and eggplant chips were excellent and the portion is very large. Will definitely be back! read more

Amazing food and great for girls nights and date nights. Have live bands on Thursday nights!

I've been here a handful of times and have yet to have a great experience. Glimpses of hope yet issues every time. Ordered drink at bar with stuffed olives and was told by unfriendly bar tender they don't have. When I asked waiter for same drink at table, he said no problem. All food arrived cold. Cold steak, cold lobster. Mediocre. The waiter was friendly and comped dessert. Did the right thing but doesn't take away from disappointing meal. I don't know why we want to like this place so badly. They keep disappointing. read more

I absolutely love this place. Amazing food, and such a great atmosphere. Its on the pricey side, but not that bad. 5 people with a bottle of wine, appetizers, entrees and desserts, came out to $350. Waiters are snobby and not helpful though. read more

This is my first time at Hendrick's Tavern. My girlfriend and I really enjoyed the food. But we were both disappointed with the service. Our waiter made us feel that we had to be rushed through our meal and I was very upset with that. read more

Attention women dining without men: DO NOT GO TO HENDRICK'S TAVERN BECAUSE YOU WILL BE TREATED SHABBILY. It's happened to me twice at this place (I should have learned a lesson the first time around). Several weeks ago three female friends and I made a 6:30 reservation for a Friday. We showed up on time and immediately were lead to the worst table in the place, directly opposite the entrance to a room that was teeming with loud people. This happened despite the fact that more than half the tables in the restaurant were empty. We asked to be seated elsewhere and were, but why does management play these types of seating games? It's so objectionable. We waited 15 minutes for someone to take our drink order then watched as our waiter fawned over the male-female couples dining around us while he completely ignored my friends and me. This continued throughout the evening. We should have walked out early on and headed to a restaurant that does not play games with female guests and that understands that our patronage is as important as any man's. Just for the record, my group of four ordered liquor, several apps and four entrees, so the image of little old ladies splitting the cheapest entree four ways simply doesn't apply here. The food was just mediocre when the price-value ratio is considered. I've had better crab cakes at seafood shacks in Maryland. The only reason I gave this place two stars instead of one is that the environment is attractive, but that's hardly enough to get me to go back. Next time I'll take my money and spend it where I'm treated like a valued guest instead of a second-class citizen. read more

I've been curious about this place considering all of the reviews. And I recently had a baby shower to attend to and was really impressed. The place is absolutely stunning inside. The staff was extremely attentive and friendly (made you feel right at home). The decor of the room was beautiful. It was a sit down dinner and the food was delicious! I ordered the salmon over a green salad and loved it. I would love to go back and try more of what they have on their menu. read more

We came here for brunch and it was awesome. As usual we ordered too much. The zucchini chips were so yummy. I loved the garlicky hummus dips with the chips. We had the brunch which we would get again. The croissant sandwich was good if you liked lots of eggs with a fresh buttery croissant we also got the corned beef hash with poached eggs. We are definitely coming back for the dinner menu. read more

The atmosphere is really cool here. It's an old historic house. I could hang out here all day. The food was very good. Our steak was very good. Great place to go with a group. read more

Excellent customer service, great food, awesome ambiance. BTW please order the zucchini and eggplant chips, calamari and the brussel sprouts with vinegar read more

A bit pretentious for what it actually is. We went in on a Tuesday night and it was quite busy! This to us was a great sign, however how our mussels appetizer came out and it did not taste fresh at all! The sea bass that we ordered also tasted past its prime. To be fair, the steaks were quite delicious! The lobster fried rice was really tasty as well. If you're into sweets, make sure you try the sticky bun with the ice cream it was perfect. Way overpriced for just an ok meal. I may return to sit in the room that is like a lounge with the fireplace because it was cozy. read more

Packed house, bustling place. Fun appetizers. This is supposed be a steak place, amongst other things. Ordered a marinated skirt steak. What arrived had no char at all, small, and looked like the kitchen stuck it in a broiler for a few minutes.. Steak house prices-quality was not. A family member had a bone-in chicken parmigiana which looked terrific. Food appears inconsistent. Everything should at least be "very good", not the luck of the draw. read more

Hendrick's Tavern has been on my radar for a while now and last night I finally got to try it. The atmosphere is beautiful and warm with a bar that was extremely lively for 6pm on a Wednesday. Once we sat, my husband and I had to wait for a bit before getting menus but water service was prompt. We also had to ask in order to obtain a wine list which I found a bit odd but ordered a beautiful Red Blend. We started with the Eggplant and Zucchini chips that come with a garlic/almond dip after reading and hearing what a "do not miss" dish they were. While they were delicious, the garlic quickly became extremely overwhelming and the portion is extremely large for 2 people to split as an app. I still had the taste of garlic in my mouth this morning after brushing, flossing, and mouth-wash garggling twice last night. For our meals my husband had a beautifully medium 8oz filet, nicely charred on the the outside and perfect temp inside. I opted for the Black Sea Bass. The fish had a nice crispy skin but I have to say I enjoyed the spinach that came with the fish more than the protein itself. For sides we got french fries (decent) and asparagus (delicious! Nice bite and tasty seasoning). Ready to burst, as soon as we saw "sticky bun" on the dessert menu, we had to splurge and split it. Definitely worth it! To sum it up - I'm happy we tried it, I'd be willing to go again, but I'd want to try something different for every course except that sticky bun and our wine! Also, be prepared to spend some cash. It's pretty much all ala carte. Also, service was touch and go and getting our check at the end seemed to take ages... read more

All I can say is if you want to take in a scene that embodies the absolute worst of the North Shore this might be the place! Oh, the food. Just really mediocre We had been here once before and it was slightly better, but last night it was really so so. But here's the best part. We ordered a bottle of wine (a good one) off the wine list. It was a 2009 Cab. When it came my husband noticed that the bottle said 2010. The waitress went back to find a 2009, but we were then told they only had 2010, and 2011.So if we had never noticed the 2010, were they trying to pass off better vintage bottles of wine at high prices to unsuspecting people who do not notice the vintage?! This is very shady. (2009 is a far more desirable year) Anyway, the best part was people watching the scene which consisted of real characters and yes, the dessert. Highly recommend the Chocolate Cloud. Otherwise, save your money. If you like to dress up in your best Saturday night top, wear every good piece of jewelry you own, show off your latest plastic surgery, walk in with an "entourage" of over weight men with unbuttoned shirts wearing big gold chains and their girlfriends dressed in their best forever 21, or, the real money folks that look like extras from The Wolf of Wall Street, then this is for you.. Enjoy! read more

Saturday night and I'm expecting a stuck-up hostess to tell us that our table is not quite ready and escort me to the bar where we would be stuck for an hour. Well, maybe it was just luck, but my wife and I were greeted warmly and immediately taken to a table in the main dining room. Major points. The menu is very extensive - from a hamburger or pizza to large lobsters and a rib steak for two. We had the rib steak and it was fabulous - a real treat. It also inspires me to tell a story. The people at the next table also had the rib steak for two. When finished they discussed their dinner saying that the steak was delicious but they preferred a porterhouse. I smiled, thinking to myself that they missed the point. Every steakhouse has a porterhouse for two, but where else could you get a rib steak like the one we just ate? The whole idea is that this restaurant has something for everyone. Was the evening perfect? No. The service was too leisurely for my taste and no one wanted to give us bread and butter. And, eighteen dollars for a fruit plate is more than excessive - even for Roslyn. That said, Hendricks Tavern fits the "something for everyone" niche that I've been looking for. I'm already looking forward to my next visit. read more

Pulling up this place looks amazing pulling up to it. The Valet service is great too. The inside decor is awesome with all the Presidents on the wall. The waiters are dressed like an old school steak house. The waiters are also very friendly. The Lobster Truffle Mac & Cheese was extra cheesy maybe too cheesy. The Filet was over cooked and burnt on the outside. The wine list was great. The desert was pretty good too the Raspberry Sorbet and the Browne with Vanilla ice cream. Be ready when the bill comes because this place will hit you in your wallet extremely hard. For me it wasn't worth the exorbitant price. I've eaten at higher end placer with better food for cheaper. read more

The food here is amazing! I have 0 complaints. The service was also amazing. Beautiful historic atmosphere, and very romantic. I will be returning! read more

What a shame. Another fuddy duddy restaurant in Roslyn. Why can't everyone be simple with food and prices and not get sooooooooo ahead of themselves. Food not good. Service slow and prices out of control. MUST PASS!!! Between this place and the Jolly Fisherman all you smell is Mothballs. read more

We've been here on multiple occasions for birthdays and anniversaries and the food is always amazing and the staff are always nice and friendly. Really enjoyed my first dinner at Hendrick's Tavern. It has a casual atmosphere, but the main room is done up in a steakhouse dark wood decor. So while many patrons were dressed in summer appropriate clothes, you would also be comfortable coming here dressed up. The service was a little spotty, with the waiter being very quick on taking our order and bringing our appetizers to the table quickly. From there it took a long time for our entrees to arrive, to the point that we said something to the manager and viola two minutes later our food arrived. I don't know, maybe they forgot about us? But to be fair, we were a large party (8) and the restaurant was full on a Monday night. I think they even had two private parties going on. The food was very tasty, and seemed like large portions for the money. The valet parking was quick and polite. I would definitely go back. read more

Amazing food and atmosphere! The house was built in 1740. I loved it! You've got to try the mussels and you'll need plenty of bread to dip in the sauce. read more

Went last night for my 60th birthday but have been several times before. As usual service was impeccable. Truffle fries are perfect. I had the filet mignon. Good but I've had better. What really upset me is the $10 tomato onion salad. Common. That much for 3 skinny tomatoes and 3 really thick onions? Had to request some blue cheese dressing bc they provided only some bottled stuff from Bryant & Cooper (Poll Brothers owns both). Love the atmosphere at Hendricks but really guys you can do better on this pathetic salad. Same experience at Bryant & Cooper. For the price don't skimp. Next time going to Ruth's Chris. They do a proper salad and the steak is better. read more

4/5 stars for the niche this restaurant fills on long island. Pleasantly surprised by the rich and flavorful food, cozy feel, and solid service. Apparently its bar, which is completely separate from the dining area, serves as the watering hole for cougars on Thursday nights. Go get em grandma. read more

the owners of this place have done it again. From Toku to Bryant and Cooper they have the key to the best the North shore has to offer. Kerri is the most accommodating host and offers the start to a wonderful dining experience. My wife and I love introducing our friends to this place. My favorites include the Frieze shrimp salad and the barely cooked Salmon. read more

Ive been to every steakhouse on Long Island on this is now my favorite. Been there about 6 times now, and it has been perfect every time. Started with clams on the half shell, little necks and cherrystones. They were all perfect. Nothing worse than bad raw clams but I love getting them here as I know they are so good. When it comes to steaks, to me the ribeye is King. And the 48 oz ribeye for 2 here is as good as it gets. Nothing better than dipping that delicious piece of meat in some bone marrow!!! Service was great as Peter got us everything we needed. Cant wait to go back!! read more

Food is great. Staff is great, but we are tired of waiting an hour after our reservation time and again. We've had enough. Done. No more. Last night was the sixth or seventh time. Our fault for not learning earlier. read more

To start the tuna spring roll or the corn on the cob are the way to go. For the main course, fish wise, the salmon or prized Bronzino are our favorite. In terms of meat the rib eye is ah-mazing. To end our wonderful experience in this woodsy, ski lodge of a restaurant we always order the sticky bun for dessert. The cinnamon flavor is rich throughout the bum but not overwhelming, so that the combination of the decadent vanilla bean ice cream with this scrumptious pastry of a dessert is award-winning. read more

Possibly the worst bar service I have ever had. Food and drinks were good. After sitting at the one vacant spot, no one ever cleaned my area. Had to flag down the bartender to ask for a menu, flag down again to order a salad, flag down again for appetizer, again for my next drink and so on. The male bartender was so worried about his cougars at the bar he paid no attention to anyone else. The female bartender, who originally helped me was obviously ignoring me. I asked her for something and she said she would be right back. After that she never came back. My overall feeling....if you are not a regular don't sit at the bar. Absolutely terrible service. After speaking with a manager he said to notify him when I go back. How about picking up my tab since the service sucked! I won't be back. read more

The ambiance (awesome music and decor) and service were both great. However, the drinks and food were supremely disappointing. The Mezcaloma and Manhattan tasted like water down drinks you'd get at a basic club. I got the tavern burger cooked medium rare- the bun was so hard and impossible to chew while the patty was immensely dry. The clams were subpar. The truffle fries were decent but nothing to rave about. I ended up getting sick later that night and believe I got food poisoning from the burger or clams. read more

Food and wine was great! But the reason i'm giving it 3 stars is because our waiter Benjamin wasn't so friendly. Im huge on service and there was none. Very blah attitude. Definitely going back for the lobster mac and cheese amongst other things! read more

This place really seemed like it would be a nice dining experience. When you first walk in, the decor and ambiance is nice and welcoming. Very loungy and relaxing vibes. However, when we approached the hostess desk we were not welcomed in a friendly fashion. A man asked us where we preferred to sit which was considerate but there was no warmth to any off the 3 staff members standing at the desk. Once we were seated we glanced over the menu and our waiter approached. My boyfriend asked if he preferred the lamb chop sliders or filet mignon sliders and he couldn't answer him. So he ordered the lamb chop sliders. I ordered the HT Burger. Both a huge disappointment. My burger was a small, thick mound of meat on a oversized, tough bun and everything was slipping out. Couldn't even eat it with the bread. So over-priced for what it actually is. And no seasoning whatsoever. Fries come with no salt as well. As for the lamb-chop sliders, they literally are 3 Lamb chops (on the bone) between really tiny buns. Weird concept and totally pointless. Our waiter was not friendly either. The table right next to us were clearly regulars and were treated like royalty. Maybe that's the key to a better experience here? read more

Had dinner here last night. Ambiance and service were excellent. Food, however, was disappointing. We ordered the bone marrow and ahi poke for appetizers. The bones hardly had any marrow in them, and the baguette toasts that came with it were chewy and stale. Ahi poke came in a martini glass, about 6 cubes of tuna in all, not worth the price of $21.00. Entrees ordered were the skirt steak, which was good, not great, the black bass, excellent, and the burger. The burger came in a baguette bun which was again chewy and not tasty at all. Desserts were the only dishes I'd say were standouts - the mille crepes and the apple crisp. Ah - the brussel sprouts were great, burnt and tasty. Will probably not return. Food not worth the price they charge. read more

This has become my local watering hole and second kitchen. The food is absolutely amazing - from the Tuna Poke or Bone Marrow appetizers, to the fish entrees and steaks, and the burnt broccoli and brussels are a must. The Lobster Fried Rice is a must with crispy shallots on top. Paired with a glass of the Marietta Old Vine or a New Zealand Sauvignon Blanc and you literally can not go wrong with this one. It's also a great bar scene and is jam packed on most nights but best bet is on both Friday and Saturday nights. read more
