I went to Hendrick Honda to buy or lease a car. It was a very disappointing experience. The car I wanted was the Honda civic in Lagoon Blue they had it on their website at a great price. I decided to come in to see if possible to drive it home do a deal. They let me know once I came it was sold. Red Flag galore I should have left. There were some obstacles one being that my trade in had some damage and not paid off. I also had jointly financed my daughter's car. I was told first I would need to co-sign with my daughter since other car was financed. They wanted me to file a Claim with my insurance company. I was like what in the world. I test drove a different civic really liked it and wanted to proceed. They said I would need a co-sign or 3k down I was like um that made no sense. They ended up sending me home so I can obtain the money or get a co-sign. Day 2: I asked if I could lease or finance a used car. I got a call and manager said I got you done. I can get you in an all electric Prologue. Have y'all seen the price of those. Very expensive car. When I asked for them to have me lease a sedan it was met with a no. They were undercutting the value of my trade in by 4k offered in other dealers. I didn't even want an suv. Any ways unfortunately could not make a deal. They said on a hybrid of a car I didn't even want i would need to now put 10k down umm far from the 3k I needed to put down on civic. Just disappointed but I'm better off. The payments would have been 896 because of my trade in and lease price combined again on a car I never wanted. They never even answered the question of financing a used vehicle but all the finance companies seem to not want to finance used vehicles. read more

I have been putting off looking for a new car for more than a year now because the whole ordeal can be both time consuming and stressful; however meeting and working with Ronnie Lopez at Hendrick Honda on South Boulevard made it worthwhile. Sean McLane, one of the sales directors, first to withhold $5500 from our trade-in that the dealership owed us in his paperwork. When I pointed it out, he immediately gave the amount back to deal they proposed, but it was still too high. They get over on us a couple more times, even though it was a Honda of America lease deal it should've been quite straightforward. Then they swapped the paperwork on my mother after five hours of negotiating, and even though we had specifically stated that we didn't want to buy accessories, added them into the final deal Most egregious was getting paid $199 for nitrogen in the tires. Let me repeat that $49.25 each to fill the tires. Like when Honda delivered them all four tires were flat. When I went back to the dealership to complain on multiple occasions, very politely and quietly, I was finally cursed at in order to leave and never come back by Sean. I needed to get a replacement vehicle for my daughter because she unfortunately had a wreck and since her previous car was a Honda Civic Sport, I decided to get the same model car. I purchased her last car from another Honda dealership in Charlotte but their selection was slim this time. I browsed the vast selection at Hendrick Honda and found the vehicle that was best suited for my daughter. I reached out to Hendrick and got a quick response from Colby, a sales associate. She was very helpful, professional and courteous from beginning to end. She took the time to send me a list of available vehicles and she also let me know upfront that due to a recall, the first Honda Civic I was interested in was not salable. Took a few minutes to be acknowledged once I was standing outside my car inside the service room but a young lady by the name of Clarissa came all the way over from the opposite side to greet me and get my process started. Jason, the service manager, was very helpful as well. Jason & Clarissa definitely made this a pleasant experience. Inside: it was very clean for the most part, the waiting area was not fragrant, loud or compact. I really enjoyed how comfortable the personal couches were. The fish tank behind the waiting area seems to need a cleaning as well as the glass for the tank. Amenities: Food & Drink: They have hot chocolate, green tea and coffee available for free. You are also welcome to use the "cafe area" to scan and purchase a snack, deluxe beverage or sandwich for a reasonable vending machine price. Young kids: There is a small play room for young children with a cute little toy in it. Seems it'd be good to bring a small toy and let the children make noise enclosed in there. Arcade: There is a small arcade for older kids with 5 arcade games including Pac-Man and Mario kart racer. My daughter and I had a lot of fun playing Mario kart while waiting for my car to be serviced. Did I mention it's complimentary? Sales: Cadiah was great! I'd buy a car from her if I was in the market for another Honda. Completely personable and sweet. The problem arose in the final deal with the sales manager. Are you a cautious consumer? Do you read all the fine print? If so you might be shocked at what their mandatory arbitration agreement lists. It is a fairly standard practice, but I wanted to take a night to sleep on it and do more research. The Sales Manager then insinuated that If we went through the sale that I would be a problem in the future because I want to do my due diligence on the consumer-unfriendly arbitration agreement. I understand that patience wears thin and sometimes people say things they don't mean. I asked for an apology in the morning, but the sales manager doubled down on his insinuation that I'd be a problem for their dealership and canceled the sale. Other places outright lied to us or tried to keep us and steer us toward other models we were not interested in. We took a test drive here and it was low pressure sale. They didn't have one model we were looking for, so recommended we test drive that before deciding. They told us to come back when we decided. Carter and the finance gentleman did a fantastic job with every step of the way. Also having the extra warranty option is nice to have. I know that one should never say "never." I am going to say that I do not have any intentions to go back to this place. I pull up there and wait at the opening of the garage door. So, I was going to proceed into the garage and all of sudden the garage door slams shut. Okay, it is about 7:45 a.m. So, it stayed closed for about a minute and it open back up (now I am not sure if this is automatic or if it is being controlled manually. So, as i put the car into drive some service guy waive me in. So, I took my foot off the brake and started to proceed and again, the door slam shut. Waited again for about a minute. It open, Then one of the service advisor waive me in but i was hesitant because of the previous incident. I get in there an the advisor was rude at best. I was also upset. I told him about the door. I am absolutely disappointed I came to Hendrick Honda to buy a car. As a result, I spent 10 hours there, of which there were only 2 test drives of 15 minutes each. The rest of the time, they constantly changed their offers to supposedly better ones. As soon as I suspected some kind of catch, the offer was immediately changed to another, supposedly more advantageous one. As a result, they slipped me a contract in which I did not notice how I was losing my own Honda Accord, which they themselves valued at 6,500 and which they accepted as a trade-in. I was not prepared for the fact that I would take a new car on lease, and give my personal one as a trade-in, and the car dealership would include it in the redemption price. The lease amount did not change in any way! And I did not expect that at the end of the lease, if I did not buy this car, I would simply lose my Accord! They thus took my car away from me! In the contract, they indicated 17 miles of mileage, and the odometer showed 85, despite the fact that for each extra mile, I would have to pay extra and this is, in fact, not a new car with such mileage. As a result, they tried to lease me a broken car, which I was not able to pick up from the car dealership. It has been three weeks since I was without my Accord and without a new car. The car dealership refuses to resolve this situation, but I am not satisfied with giving them my car in this way, that I do not receive any money in return! read more

Monumental Waste of Time, Good Luck working with Honda Corporate to force the Dealership to Cover Your Problem I have a 2016 Honda Odyssey with 80,000 miles on it and the engine started to misfire about three months ago. Could smell burning engine oil, check engine light came on and the car would lurch. Immediately took to local mechanic. My mechanic replaced a spark plug and mentioned there was oil getting to the engine, which caused bucking, and rattling. Figured this was a transmission issue, as we'd noticed this problem in the past and had gotten some transmission work done (through this Honda dealership in prior two years), which helped reduce the problem, but not address the underlying issue. My mechanic recommended I take it to Honda dealership to cover the underlying engine issue. I took it to the dealership for service two days ago and had Jeffrey Smith as the assigned technician. Technicians obviously could not replicate the issue but acknowledged these kind of engine problems are not uncommon for this model year. The initial recommendation from Jeff was to continue driving the car, let oil continue getting into the engine, and then come back to the dealership when there are engine misfire codes. This is an obvious safety risk to me and my family. This is the primary vehicle for our family of five and this recommendation was completely reckless and dangerous. Jeff recommended to continue to replace spark plugs every 2-3 months as the oil continues to leak into the engine. Then when I'm tired of paying to replace spark plugs every 2-3 months, I can pay $4,000+ out of pocket to replace the piston rings (all of these issues are NOT covered under the 100,000-mile standard warranty). I purchased an Odyssey in the first place for the reliability, affordability and long-term support. I'm absolutely dismayed I'm having this costly of issues just three years into owning the vehicle, while still under 100,000 miles on the vehicle. This is caused by the VCM and is a very well-documented issue with more current model years and prior years (a class action lawsuit on Honda Odysseys for the same exact issue extended warranty coverage for 2008 to 2013 model years). These models have an ECO Mode feature which contributes to the problem of oil entering the engine, breaking down the spark plugs and eventually requiring a piston ring replacement, or full engine replacement. ECO mode cannot be disabled by the driver to prevent this issue. There are well-documented solutions online for installing devices to manually disable this feature. I elevated my request to Jason Carlson, the services manager to state my case and my safety concerns. He intently listened and mentioned that he would submit a goodwill service request to Honda corporate. Apparently, a small number of "exceptions" can be made by the Honda Corporate Overlords to allow the Local Dealership Pawns to cover. Unsurprisingly, my request was denied within hours. Which leaves me back at square one: continue driving this lemon of a vehicle until the spark plugs, piston rings and engine fail, then come back to the dealership and hope that Honda Corporate will approve coverage then. Local dealership will take absolutely zero ownership of this well-documented problem. I don't have $4,000 laying around to address the underlying issue. I want out of this Honda Odyssey experience and never want to interact with this dealership again. I do not recommend working with their service or sales department. TLDR: Don't waste your time with this service department or sales department. They will not take ownership of engine problems (that pose a significant risk to you and your children's safety) unless they are strictly covered under the basic or extended warranty. You will have better luck working with Honda Corporate Overlords to respond to your concerns. read more

I'm extremely disappointed and upset at my experience with this dealership. Zero stars if possible. I reached out on Thursday regarding a Honda Element I saw listed on the site. I had been in touch with Melissa Felder since Thursday via email. I kept being told the vehicle was in the shop and I could not see it yet in person. By chance on Saturday I stopped by and spoke with her and she as told the vehicle was actually ready and on the way back from the independence location. She asked if I could wait about half an hour until it came back to the South Charlotte location. I waited for almost two hours and saw that it arrived so went to look inside the vehicle while I waited for her to return from doing test drives. One of the other sales managers came outside and told me that the vehicle was already sold. He asked me id she had told me that. I was dumbstruck and am now pissed I waited for two hours to be told that a vehicle I would have purchased was already sold. I feel foolish and embarrassed for having checked out someone else's vehicle. This has ruined my impression of this dealership. They will never get my business. I worked in sales for 7 years. I brought my car there because I was having to jumpstart my car everyday due to my battery connector being loose. They told me I needed a new battery. But I tested my battery at 2 other locations and it passed. Even though I told them there's just a loose connection. I went ahead anyways and purchased a new battery. I also went ahead and got an oil change as long as I was there and was due. When I picked up my car, it died the next day again. I lifted the hood and my connector was just laying on battery not even connected to battery. Who replaces a battery and not connect it to the car? Big mistake. Or was it a mistake? When that happens it drains your alternator and starter. It can also start a fire. When I brought my car back it was already sparking by battery. Then they call me and say I need a long cable wire for my battery because mine is bad and that's why the car is dying. They wanted to charge me $475 for that. I told them no and I would take it somewhere else. When I picked up my vehicle, the connector had been replaced and screwed in place connected to battery. Wow! Never charged me for it, noted on invoice nor told me. Car started fine and went home. I took to another mechanic and they told me that I did not have to replace my cable long wire for battery and actually it's in great shape. My car did not need any further attention. However, I did nothing that they never replaced my oil. I know this because I have a hole in my washer fluid container. It leaks immediately. That's when I noticed they never topped me off with other fluids nor did they notice the hole. They would have told me and recommended to replace it. I barely have oil on my stick. BTW my car works greats! I never replaced the part they told me I needed. They lied to me! They tried to drain my starter and alternator. They are either scammers or stupid! Who forgets to do oil services? Who charges for parts you don't need? I was that close to paying almost 500 dollars for no reason. Because I need my car. They take advantage of people so sad!
