Subaru South Charlotte - Subaru South Charlotte

    Subaru South Charlotte

    (115 reviews)

This review pertains specifically to the service center, though unfortunately it's affecting our…read moredecisions around future purchases. My wife has asked me twice now to contact the department after feeling dismissed by her service advisor--a sentiment echoed in several reviews, so it's clearly not an isolated experience. Our Ascent currently has 44,000 miles on it, and we've relied exclusively on South Charlotte Subaru for all scheduled maintenance (except for tires, I believe). While vacationing in Asheville in 2023, we first noticed squeaking in the brakes. For two years, we've inquired about the issue, and even received a notice from Subaru of North America about an extended brake warranty. Yet somehow, South Charlotte Subaru has never had the parts to perform the brake pad, rotor, or caliper replacements. It's astonishing that in a city the size of Charlotte, not a single other Subaru owner has apparently needed brake service over the past year--especially when new cars continue rolling off the line, fully equipped. During one visit, my wife was advised to get an injector cleaning, even though it wasn't part of the manufacturer's recommended maintenance schedule. She called me when she saw the bill--almost double the cost of an oil change. They removed the additional charges and only billed her the $80 for routine service, which--while expensive--is consistent with dealership pricing. Our most recent visit led us to call Subaru of North America directly and open a case to get warranty service approved. We purchased the Gold extended warranty under the impression that it functioned as an extension of the original Subaru warranty. While warranty decisions are handled by Subaru of North America, what's frustrating is South Charlotte's reluctance to even contact them for clarification or support. For example, the rear cupholder--which they repaired under warranty a year ago--broke again in the exact same way. This time, however, the service manager refused to reach out to Subaru to confirm coverage. It's discouraging, especially for a car we genuinely enjoy and a brand we were considering for our son's first vehicle in a few years. I initially believed my wife might've been exaggerating her treatment, especially since the dealership recently invested heavily in revamping the service center. But after she picked up the car--with parts left disassembled--I saw the issues firsthand. I was also close to purchasing a Subaru Legacy, but instead chose a Volvo S60. The difference in service has been stark--Volvo's support is leagues ahead despite South Charlotte Subaru's newer, flashier, and more spacious facility. You can do better, South Charlotte Subaru--or at least return to the standard you upheld before trading real service for a shiny new building. I'd gladly take the cramped, no-frills facility if it meant consistent care, rather than just a prettier place to wait while things fall through the cracks.

We used the Subaru Roadside Service for a free tow, and went to Subaru South Charlotte for repairs ... but the tow truck driver took the car to Williams Subaru. Beautiful dealership, and we'd not hesitate to use it correctly one day.

1-Star Review: Steer Clear of Williams Buick GMC - Paul Hernandez is a Nightmare…read more Absolute disaster servicing my 2025 Hummer EV at Williams Buick GMC in Charlotte, NC. My wife updated the software, tried charging at a Tesla Supercharger, and it failed with trouble codes. OnStar calls went nowhere initially, but they later suggested a hard reset by disconnecting the 12V battery's negative terminal. It didn't fix it, and the nut fell into the engine bay--I improvised with a Home Depot replacement to secure it temporarily. Scheduled service here by mistake (great experience at Liberty Buick GMC before). Told Service Manager Paul Hernandez the full story, including OnStar's records. He barked, "You should never do that!" Then demanded I pay for an hour of diagnostics despite warranty, blaming my reset attempt--ignoring the issue predated it and was documented. Picking up my $110K vehicle, he waived the fee but said, "I kindly ask you never return," then followed me out harassing me after I shut down the conversation. Unprofessional, accusatory, and zero respect for customers. Avoid at all costs--go to Liberty instead. Zero stars. Ultimately, it's your call based on where you're posting, but the original holds up well as is.

My experience was both good and bad. First off the bad. I purchased a used 2011 BMW Z4. I was told…read morethat it went through their service department inspection and that no issues were found. When I received the vehicle(I purchased out of state, that's why I relied on their service dept. inspection), I had it PA inspected. They noted leaking front struts. I pulled the wheels to check them and saw oily sludge buildup on one strut and minor leakage on the other. These struts are adaptive and cost 750.00 each plus installation. I feel that I was misled and their is no way they would have missed this if they truly inspected it and noted no leakage on their report notes. I have attached pictures of the leakage, which were taken two weeks and two hundred miles since I received it. I am pretty sure that this did not occur since I received the car. Their response to my complaint was that it was sold as is, and no leakage was noted. I copied the owner and the service manager with their response, and did not receive a response from either of the two. On a positive note, their internet salesperson Sean, was a bright spot going through this process.

Gene did his best to get me in and out in my time frame (I arrived shortly after the dealership opened and I needed to get back to the office by lunchtime) and the only holdup in the process was the amount of time the finance guy takes. The customer waiting area is stocked with snacks, a coffee machine, and there are computer work stations. I'm sure all of the salespeople are great, but I definitely recommend Gene!

I'll preface this review that I've received zero response from the dealership on this. I've…read morecontacted them multiples times, asked for a response, and given them opportunity for weeks, but have received nothing. Issues were as follows: 1. After saying no multiple times, I agreed to GAP and warranty, which was quoted at "$16 per month." Reviewing the paperwork afterwards, the contract had nearly $100 a month. Multiple attempts to contact the finance manager went unanswered, I had to escalate to the GM, who cancelled it, but never addressed the situation. 2. The primary problem was realized a few days after the purchase. I drove from a few hours away, and the truck was clearly listed as having black rims. The dealership sent me a video that specifically mentioned "black rims." As stated, a few days later I noticed one of the "rims" looked off. After further inspection, they had marketed and sold a vehicle with black hubcaps (that had a stock Chevy logo in the middle). I reached out multiple times, and once again got zero response. The primary reason I purchased my truck from dealership vs another was based on their positive online reviews and I regret that decision. I would not recommend making a purchase here based on my experience, which shows a pure lack of integrity and disregard of valid customer concerns.

South Charlotte Chevrolet refused to honor warranty coverage on those items, stating that they would not cover them because the accessories were installed by another Chevrolet dealer. As the customer, I had no role in the installation or modification of these items. The vehicle was purchased new from an authorized Chevrolet dealership, and the accessories were included in the original sale. Warranty coverage should not depend on which authorized Chevrolet dealer performed the installation. If General Motors or Chevrolet excludes warranty coverage based on dealer-installed accessories, that limitation should be clearly disclosed at the time of purchase. Denying coverage after the sale places responsibility on the customer for decisions made entirely within the GM dealer network. This experience reflects poorly on dealer-to-dealer coordination and on GM's warranty consistency. I expected better accountability and support from an authorized Chevrolet service department representing General Motors.
