Ordered takeout for a quick meal after work and had a pretty good experience. They seem to have really streamlined their pickup orders and everything operates super smoothly. The food itself was fine but nothing too special. Prices are fair and the interior of the restaurant is quite clean!

This spot has truly mastered the art of delivery/takeout. I was extremely impressed that their wings stayed hot and crispy even through delivery! The portions are not too big but the prices are very reasonable. I ordered The Heat ($13.95 on Uber eats), The Isan ($12.95 on Uber eats), and the spicy wings ($7.95 on Uber eats). My friend recommended the spicy wings and I was super glad I tried them! The wings are coated with a crispy, fried coating and sprinkled with an addicting seasoning powder that has a mix of spicy chili and tangy lime. I could eat this all day! Each wing had the perfect crunch followed by juicy meat on the inside. I loved the seasoning on the wings so much and was glad to find out that the fried chicken in The Heat also had the same seasoning. This dish came with a bed of fragrant ginger rice that had small bits of ginger and lots of aromatic scallion flavor. There was also a chili dipping sauce for the fried chicken but I was so focused on the spicy sour seasoning that I barely noticed the chili dipping sauce. The Isan also came with fried chicken but instead came with sticky rice and a sweet, sour, and fishy tamarind dipping sauce. The dipping sauce went very well with the juicy chicken and pieces of fried shallots. Both chicken dishes I ordered came with some cucumbers and a light and refreshing daikon soup. As much as I love sticky rice, I think the ginger rice here is too good to pass up. I'll be ordering their ginger rice again and again.

If you are craving for take out authentic Thai hen rice, and decent Thai tea. This place is for you. They are specialized in chicken dishes. All their chicken are moist and tender at the same time However, this place offer take out and delivery only. I heard they are asking for indoor seating permit soon! I love how we can see the whole kitchen thru the glass door. Feel nice to see how my food was pred

The food was a bit disappointing. The portion was quite small but fair given the pricing. The chicken was pretty flavorless. However, the rice was fragrant with ginger. The daikon soup on the side had way too much white/black pepper. The place is quite small. No dine in, only take out. My order was ready within 10 minutes.

I've seen a few of my friends coming here so I wanted to give it a try. We were lucky enough to find parking a street down (street parking only) from the restaurant. When approaching the restaurant, their sign "HEN" is a little plain... Doesn't attract your attention. I was a little disappointed because this location doesn't do dine in... We found a bench around the corner and sat there and eat. I didn't want the food to get cold. Our first reaction was, it looked very appetizing. The presentation of how the chicken was laid out over the ginger rice was amazing. For the price, it was a great portion. The ginger rice is DELICIOUS. The Mix - The white chicken was juicy and tender. The crispy chicken was fried really good. The sauce provided for the crispy chicken (Thai chili sauce probably) was good. The sauce for the white chicken was ok.... A little bland for me. Could use a little more ginger and spice to it. The Heat - spice level probably 7/10. If you're not a spicy eater, be warned. For me, it was just enough. The seasoning they put over the crispy chicken was good. So for roughly around $12-$14, every order I think comes with daikon soup. The daikon soup is also delicious. Very rich and peppery. Overall, I would probably only come back here if I'm around the area. Definitely give them a try.

Fantastic spot for a tasty lunch. I personally had #5 - the Heat and it was so good. Soup great for cleaning palette. Will gladly eat here or another Hen location and try another option off the menu.

My partner and I really enjoyed the takeout that we got here. We had the original (boiled, ginger rice) and the isan (crispy, sticky rice). I think it's definitely one of the cheaper options in Union Square, at $10.95 to 11.95 per dish. The flavors were good too. The chicken wasn't too dry, and all the food was very flavorful. The one disappointment: I wish that they'd give more chicken; the portions there were relatively small. I like having some chicken for every bite of rice, but this wasn't a well balanced chicken to rice ratio.

Quick and delicious lunch. I ordered The Original and The Spicy Crispy Chicken which each came with a side of soup. I like the spicy crispy better. There was a lot of flavor and great texture. The soup was also very flavorful. There is no indoor seating as of right now, so my boyfriend and I found a table, about two minute walk from the restaurant, to eat at. Extremely happy with my order!

This is a primarily takeout place, great for a fast, casual, relatively healthy meal. The chicken and rice is fairly simple, but well done, and the supplied sauces are delicious. They have a few seats, but quite frankly it's not welcoming--if it's a nice day I'd recommend taking the food to-go to sit in Bow Market or up at Prospect Hill Park.

I really wanted to like this place but the food just wasn't good. It doesn't compare to any of the places I've been to in LA like Cluck 2 Go or Savoy's kitchen. I know LA Asian food is just far superior so it is tough to compare but I'd much rather go to Penang (Waltham/Chinatown) for their Hainanese chicken and chicken rice than here. The Hainanese steamed chicken lacked flavor and was not tender. The crispy version was more tender but still only average. The sauces in both meals were so disappointing. Especially the generic sweet and sour sauce that came with the crispy chicken. The daikon soup was fine but mostly MSG and didn't really taste the chicken flavor. Also the thai ice tea was ridiculously milky, no tea flavor. Really surprised by all the great reviews but maybe it is because Boston really doesn't have this. The workers are nice though and it was edible so I gave it 2 stars. Probably won't come again.

Good portion size, however, the crispy chicken really wasn't crispy. There's limited seating in the space, so be aware if you're going with a larger group. I think it's a solid amount of food but not super special

Lived in Singapore always asked myself looking for Hainan Chicken rice. Found this place on Yelp app, ordered an original one on mmm from the menu. Taste was quite similar but needed that red chili paste that usually comes with any other Hainan chicken rice place. Yes definitely come back, the service was very good and fast.

I didn't honestly know what to expect when ordering from here. But I was excited. Rice?? Chicken?? Sauce?? I'm always down. The ginger rice was pretty awesome. I would come for the rice for sure. The radish soup they gave was amazing. It reminded me of a Korean soup of the same thing. Probably done better too. The chicken had loads of flavor. The sauces were very complementary. My only issue was that some pieces were super moist and some were pretty dry. I'll come back to try again for sure.

The crab rangoon appetizer was honestly the best I've ever had. The texture was perfect -- crispy on the outside with a rich, flavorful filling that was clearly made with care. I've gotten take out here once and the food holds up well. Now onto the food... - drunken noodles: occasionally these are very spicy and occasionally they are appropriately spicy. They are always so excellent and the noodles are bouncy and chewy! I usually get this with pork. - pad see ew: this is my favorite Thai noodle dish and it's no exception here. Not as spicy as the drunken noodles but just a massive portion of filling noodles, chicken/tofu, and Chinese broccoli. There's something about the way they do the sauce here that is just so savory and delicious. It feels less greasy than it usually does at other Thai places, which I really like - pad mee korat: my friend always get this and raves about it. The restaurant was buzzing when we arrived, but we were seated right away at the last available table. The space felt both lively and cozy, perfect for a date night. Service started a bit slow, but once it picked up, the pacing was excellent. Our server was more hands off, which worked well, letting us settle in and enjoy the night without feeling rushed. We started with the Larb Pork Dumplings, which were beautifully presented with chili lime mayo, fresh herbs, and crispy greens. They were fried perfectly, packed with bright Thai flavors, and the added crunch from the greens made the dish even better. With five dumplings, it was a great portion to share. The one and only bone I have to pick with Black Ruby is that the service, while very attentive, is almost TOO fast. I get that they want to turn tables over efficiently, but the last couple of times I've come, I kind of felt like they were rushing me out. I came here to catch up with a couple friends and our food came almost instantly, before our drinks, and the waitress seemed eager to keep us moving. I think our entire meal was less than 50 minutes. While I'll definitely be back, I think it won't be somewhere I'd bring friends anymore since it's just not enough time for a full conversation.
