I had reached out to HelloTech for installation. I provided several times and the "scheduled" tech never showed. I called them and they said they would find someone but couldn't provide a tech in a timely matter. I cancelled my installation with them and that was the last of it. Today I received a charge for a membership that I never signed up for. I am looking online and can't see what membership I have with them. THIS IS FRAUD. I never had service with them, why would I need a membership with them. I reached out to the chat they said they couldn't assist with me cancellation. Be aware!!! I scheduled them to set up my surround sound system in the living room. made my appointment, technician calls me the morning of to state, "I have many appointments today, is it okay I come later than scheduled". I told him no problem. I then received confirmation at 1pm that my tech is on his way, you can track him. After tracking him, his estimated time arrival was 2 hours 21 mins! I thought to myself, I guess their territories are big, no problem, glad he's still coming. I then got a text message from him, not even phone call. His truck just broke down. He stated one area, but his tracking stated another. He clearly lied to me, but I need a technician here. So, I rescheduled for the next business day. 1 hour after scheduled time, I received a text and email from Hello Tech that "my tech canceled the appointment, please choose another day and time. No I don't recommend them bc they charge my card and I never authorize it. They claim that they put a hold on your card but in my case they took it out b4 they even came to the house. Then they charge me again with my authorization. Don't recommend them . They never fix anything in my computer. Beware !!!! Recently tried to put up a 47" tv into a bedroom and after 3 failed attempts (I have mounted plenty of tvs over my 38 years) I couldn't seem to find the stud even using a professional stud finder. I Googled for another well known installation squad and Geekatoo popped up. After reading the good reviews and realizing the even better savings that offered I decided to give them a try. I made an appointment via the website in the very early hours of Monday for appointment Wednesday at 8 am. I received a call from the assigned installer around 11 am confirming my appointment for Wednesday and answering all questions I had.Appointment came and Frank was right on time. Quite frankly I wish I would never have paid for this. It was a complete waste of money. The tech never did install the fire alarms....he asked my wife where we wanted them and she didn't know, so he just left them un-installed. The motion sensors aren't even stuck to the walls, they are just resting on top of the old security system sensors. Other than installing the entry sensors the tech did nothing. The key pad isn't installed because he didn't want to touch the old system. The tech kept asking my wife where we wanted to put the sensors. Part of my reason for paying for this service was that I had expected they would know where to install the motion sensors and the smoke alarms!!! Not just shrug his shoulders. read more

I became aware of HelloTech through Walmart when I purchased a television. I called to schedule an appointment . and the representative they sent was courteous. After meeting him, I showed him the wall that i wanted the TV mounted on and left the room (due to COVID concerns, also the gentlemen had a beard and was not being truly protected by a mask). Upon his completion. I entered the room and the television was mounted. Initially, the mount appeared to be done well but the next day while watching the television, my neck was straining and it appeared the mount was too high and uncomfortable to watch TV. I called HelloTech immediately for a re-mount. Each time i called (4x), i was told they would send my request to a team for evaluation. This appears to be a still tactic, as when I called the 5th time,I was told that an email had been sent and my re-mount denied. There was no email in my box. I was upset by the customer service received and will now take my complaints to Walmart. What a doorway to do business! read more

While I am very pleased with the final outcome, HelloTech can do better in testing and screening their representatives in the field. I know the trend nowadays is to have "private contractors" who then sign up with a service such as HelloTech to be paid a flat rate per customer - think Uber or Lyft. However, there are problems with this model. The first tech sent to my house, for example spoke in very technical jargon for nearly two hours straight, but in the end never changed a single setting or even attempted to resolve my problem. Thinking I was supposed to remember everything he spoke about, I listened, took notes and ended up exhausted in the middle of an already very busy week. I told HelloTech this and they immediately sent another tech to my home. Great! The second tech was very good and went straight to work, testing and looking for solutions to my problem. The reason I feel there was such a difference between the two techs has to do with the fact that HelloTech in fact has very little control over who signs up with them. If they were employees instead of contractors, this might be different. As such, please expect vast inconsistencies between techs and HelloTech explaining the lack of relationship they have to those who represent them in the field. read more

Starting quickly after assignment, he reached out to me via text regarding the computer in question; as it is my wife's, he was patient as I pulled her into the conversation. He went through the usual triage, and was able to resuscitate the computer, and provide guidance for future problems, including a way of deciding if the hard drive itself was an issue. (Most probably is; and the procedures he gave were easy to follow.) He also gave other advice regarding my computer, and an older Windows computer based on observation. We had a 65" curved QLED screen to mount, and a Bose Acoustimass 10 stereo system to configure. I called Hello Tech because of their ads. The technician arrived on time, but 4 hours later, he left with the TV not even turned on once. He was not skilled in setting up sound systems, it seems, and so I had to book another appointment for five days later, so we could have a tech come over that knew stereo systems. They generously granted a 15% discount on the second service ($189 for 65" TV and like $112 for stereo). I asked to have the 15% taken from the larger charge, and they agreed. The second tech stated, after hearing the first story "I won't be here 4 hours...". He was here four hours. He was successful in getting the stereo hooked up (the house was already wired for 5.1 sound), and he did get the TV working...which we then discovered had been cracked on the bottom right corner. Perfect. The second tech left without showing us how the remotes worked. So, with 8 hours of tech time, we finally got the system working, but we didn't have a way to turn on the systems. We have a new TV on the way, and having used Geek Squad twice in the past, we will be calling Geek Squad again. Saving $10.00 to spend 6 hours more than is needed, and not even have a way to turn on our new system seems silly in retrospect. read more

If I could have given this company a zero, I would have. Purchased a 65 inch TV from Walmart along with protection for the TV and the installation for the TV. I chose 3 times on a date to have the tech come and install the TV. First, the tech called and said he was coming and I was confused because he had gotten the date wrong. I called him back to confirm the right date. After getting this straightened out on the day that I was to get the TV installed he was a no show. Attempted to contact Hello Tech customer service but their line was busy. I then used their messaging application and after stating my problem they advised me that they were finding a customer service rep. I waited 49 minutes and there was no answer from anyone. I then found the number for the Tech who first called who then advised that his vehicle had broken down and he would be unable to install the TV. He advised me that he had called Hello Tech to advise them of the problem and they were supposed to contact me and schedule another tech, they did neither to my knowledge. I then called Walmart and requested a refund of all monies. I will be returning the TV to Walmart for a full refund. This interaction with walmart and Hello Tech was a complete waste of my time and money. read more
