Enjoyed a great meal at Heck's of Ohio City on Saturday night! The wait staff was very friendly and the food was delicious! We had a group of six, easily able to get a reservation on OpenTable. They have a great cocktail list - strongly recommend the Blackberry Bourbon Smash. We split the calamari, peach caprese, and potstickers - all of which were great. Don't knock the peach caprese salad until you try it. For dinner we got a variety of burgers and entrees. Tuna Tataki dish with soba noodles was yummy and the Seared Salmon with summer corn succotash was to die for. Strongly recommend checking out Heck's of Ohio City if you're in the area! Part 1: Went to the Heck's Express on Euclid Ave. on a whim after a walking tour of downtown Cleveland on the Saturday before Labor Day. Never been to any of Heck's locations before, but knew that they are known for their burgers. I decided to order the Ohio City burger with fries. My expectations were tempered seeing as this was a fast casual set up. I picked up my tray on the counter after a few minutes. The burger looked pretty ordinary. I sat down and took a bite... I was floored! That patty was perfectly cooked with the perfect amount of pink and juiciness, and it was perfectly seasoned! Back to the "ordinary" looking burger... I think that was the beauty of this burger - it was simple; not a "let's-see-how-many-cool-ingredients-and-flavors-we-can-stuff-in-this" kind of burger. Just a perfectly cooked prime quality beef patty, perfectly seasoned, topped with sautéed mushrooms and mozzarella cheese. Burger perfection! And the fries? Bad fries can ruin a good burger experience, but Heck's fries were a pretty darn good complement to their perfect burger! On our way out, I made a point to stop at the counter to let Joe know that I've unexpectedly just had one of the best burgers I've ever eaten, then I walked out the door. Part 2: After our lunch, the wife and kids decided they wanted dessert, so we walked a couple of doors down to The Chocolate Bar to look at the menu. They walked in and ordered. Me? I didn't see anything I liked, so I traced my steps back to Heck's - so impressed with my lunch that I decided their desserts would probably be just as impressive. Joe was surprised to see me back. I ordered a salted caramel milkshake and Joe suggested a zucchini bread to go with it - he told me it was freshly baked that day. Okay, I thought. Haven't had zucchini bread in years and probably not the first thing I would pick in a lineup of desserts, but okay. The milkshake was great - no surprise... but what was a surprise was the zucchini bread. Sweetly crispy on the outside, and perfectly moist on the inside. Two great experiences on the same day. Heck's is definitely on my radar now. Part 3: Two days later we spent Labor Day afternoon at Edgewater. I thought... the original Heck's in Ohio City isn't too far from us so we decided to stop by for dinner. Guess who I saw? Yes, Joe! He said he was glad we stopped by again and that we definitely won't be disappointed with the food there either. Ordered the Rocky River burger this time, and Joe suggested a s'mores milkshake for my two girls. Joe was right! They didn't disappoint! Perfect burger... and the girls liked their perfect milkshake, too! Oh, and the service? Couldn't have been more friendly and personable both times! I don't know that we'll be making a habit of going to Heck's every two days, but safe to say they've definitely become our local favorites for a great burger and we'll by many more times! read more

The two of us actually stumbled into Heck's Cafe by accident when we were searching for a Sunday brunch place, and I'm so glad that we did! Very cute ambiance, amazing service, delicious food, and generous portions. Our waiter was also very generous with the coffee refills, which was great because it was their own house blend with hints of cinnamon. For an appetizer, we got the Calamari which came with herbs, parmesan, spicy aioli, and avocado lime aioli. It was great but I wish there had been more aioli on top/on the side, especially the avocado lime one! For our entrees, we got the Baklava French Toast (country bread, cinnamon walnuts, honey-rosewater syrup, whipped cream cheese, and orange zest) and the Short Rib Hash (miso-mustard glazed ribs, mushrooms, red onions, potatoes, and brussels sprouts). The Short Rib Hash was good and the meat was tender, but it could've been a seasoned a bit more and the brussels could've been cooked slightly longer. But holy moly, that Baklava French Toast!! I took my sister here when she visited Cleveland and it was so beautiful! The food was delicious and not overpriced. They even had mocktail options that were perfectly refreshing. We were treated kindly and I noticed they were also training a new hire at the time and even the new staff was very helpful. The day after Christmas and it's time for a burger. Heck's is a nice local restaurant they do some interesting burgers. On the street parking. We ate at 1 and we had no problem finding parking. Wife had the Heck's 1/4# burger I had the 1/2# Heck burger. Both come with fries. Since the 1/4# is a smaller patty it's cook about well. It's a solid 4. Good burger although very juicy (bottom bun was greasy and mushy) fries could have been crisper and a bit hotter. Service good. Food ok. Restroom was clean. So it's a 4! read more

Good thing my friend and I had 12:30 pm reservations on Sunday for brunch. It was packed! We requested an outside table, but were unable to be seated outside due to a full patio and a wait on top of that. We sat inside in a new area of the restaurant that I had not been in before. (Haven't been here in a handful of years.) Bartender was doing service, bar, taking tables and servicing bar patrons. He was really busy. We both got Bloody Mary's. I had cucumber vodka and my friend had jalapeno vodka. They were delicious and had the right amount of kick for a brunch to loosen you up (or cure a hangover). We both ordered Champignon Omelettes. I liked all the ingredients, mushrooms, goat cheese and spinach. I'm not a huge egg person so I'll try something else next time, but it was prepared well with home fries, orange slices and a small piece of very lightly toasted French bread. I gave the server/bartender lots of grace, he was too busy to be the only one working that bar, service bar and tables. Thank goodness they had food runners, and other teammates to help. I always thought the hidden burger gem in CLE was Black Pig (sad face) but Heck's is where it's at. Don't let that discourage you from trying anything on the menu. Came to hecks for brunch. Sat inside with a view of the staircase. I've been here one other time for brunch a couple years ago on a nice day and sat outside. Either way you can't go wrong with either option. I like the scenery both inside and outside. The first time I came I had an avecado toast that was good. This last time I ordered the beef brisket with egg and rice. This was just not for me. The meat was tough and I was not a fan. My mom got the crab eggs Benedict and boy did that steal the show. Lucky for me shes small and there was enough to share. Our friend got some sort of skillet and she enjoyed it.. It was brunch on a Sunday so needless to say our server was very busy and looked like he was working hard. He was kind enough to take my meal off the bill because I didn't care for it. I don't know how I didn't know about this place. I was looking for a place to grab some lunch, a beer and some carry out during a full day volleyball tournament in Euclid. I figured OH City would be the place to go, stretch my legs, get some walking in and it is a sunny day. I parked in the big public lot behind TownHall. So I went there since I was parked there. Got a beer and then started to browse the menu. Mind you it is 1:00 in the afternoon, yet they only serve a brunch menu. I had my heart set on a lunch menu item (they don't start serving until 2:30). So I text the crew back at the tourney letting them know the situation since they also had picked items off the lunch menu. Nobody wanted anything from that menu. So back to the drawing board. Alas, the crew finds Heck's and think the menu looks great. So, I walk on over - maybe a few blocks. No big deal, In fact, a little walk on a beautiful day is always a good thing. "Table for one" I say, then after the eager hostess tells me every option available to me (inside, outside, table, bar) I figure the bar is the spot to get my lunch and a beer. I'm immediately walked through a cool maze layout back to a bar area. I am greeted by Whitney, a fun and proud bartender, when she asks if I know what I would like to drink. I'm in a hazy IPA mood, to which she brings me a Morir Soñando by Pulpo Brewing (local craft beer - check it out). An iced water is set in front of me and very shortly after is a new beer to try. Amazing!!! The name translates to "To die dreaming" pretty cool. I'm now in a very good mood, confident that this place is going to deliver the experience I really need. "What's good here?" I asked - I know, not original, but Whitney is the real deal and I can tell she knows what she is talking about. "We are most known for our burgers. My boyfriend's favorite is the Brieberry Burger" she said quite confidently. Of course, I order it medium-rare. As I enjoy this refreshing and surprisingly delicious beer, I realize this place is super cool. Diverse customers, friendly service and relaxing atmosphere. Food is delivered, the fries are fresh cut, the burger is cooked perfectly. Time to dig in. OMG - this might be the best burger I've ever had. Listen, for me, burgers are the food group that I have very strong opinions on. I can rate the best burgers in every category from homemade to exquisite fine dining burgers and everything in between. So when I say this might be the best burger I've ever had, that means this is an epic experience. While I am waiting for the takeout for my crew, I felt compelled to share this experience because "you deserve this!" Went here for Mother's Day brunch. They were able to accommodate our reservation that was made a few days prior, which was nice. When we got there we were immediately lead through the mini-labyrinth of rooms to our table. They have a few different seating areas, the best being the "conservatory room" as I called it. We ended up eating in a different area where the bar is, which was still nice. Our server was super attentive and really nice - waters always refilled, checked on us occasionally. Food came out relatively fast, but not too fast that we didn't spend enough time there. We ordered a mimosa and I chose to mix my orange juice with peach juice which was pretty tasty (they have tons of juices to choose from), and a Bloody Mary. The Bloody Mary was a little sweet which I think was due to the A-1 sauce they add to their homemade mix, and usually like a small to moderate amt of horse radish but there was a bit much in this one. We also ordered two beers. All in all I have to say the drinks were a little expensive. I really believe in places that have mimosas and/or bloody Mary's on special on Sunday brunch and this didn't. On to the food! We ordered the baked Brie as an app and it was good. We also shared the Hash and the Chicken and Waffles. Both were good, I have had better hash other places, but the meat was good in it. The CnW were made with sweet potato flour which was delicious and interesting. Went back to tell them and had to wait another 20 minutes and was still charged full price. By the time I got back home my original order was soggy. Heck's used to stand for integrity. Great coffee! Got seated right away on a Saturday morning. Our server, who we discovered is the bar manager, was absolutely hilarious and professional. Bathrooms are freezing, but drank three cups of the delicious coffee to warm me up! I got the "Wild Thing" (see below) and even though I try to get Carter to branch out with every best effort, he gets the same thing at every restaurant, if he can. We talked ourselves in and out of their cocktail menu and their dessert menu, which was both tempting. Couldn't leave without buying a pound of coffee! We had a great meal at Heck's! There were 3 people in our party and we split/shared four dishes: French onion perogies, Mac n cheese, eggplant dip, and Szechuan eggplant and noodles. All very tasty. My favorite was the perogies, which came in a creamy sauce with onions. The Mac n cheese was creamy and topped with breadcrumbs. The eggplant dip was smoky tasting, not my favorite. Love this place! Have had food delivered from here twice and it has quickly become one of my favorite burger places. I've had the Rocky River Burger and the Avon Burger and really enjoyed both. The patties themselves could use a bit more seasoning for my taste, but overall the burgers are very good. The onion rings and Vanilla milkshake were also delicious. Since COVID, my husband and I have struggled to find a take out or delivery burger that really tastes just like it would if you were at the restaurant. We decided to order heck's on Uber eats and both got the hot fire burger and some onion rings (not realizing the burger came with fries ). The burgers were AMAZING. They have a nice spicy kick to them but are not too spicy which I loved. They were also cooked as ordered (medium). Writing this review about the last time we were here , and while Heck's was still great it wasn't as great as I had remembered? Maybe it was because I got a burger this time (salmon burger btw) or maybe it was because we were sitting outside. Here are some notes: - Al fresco dining: super nice but it seemed like the service was much slower and a little sloppier outside (ie, no utensils, took forever to get our check etc) - Can't substitute the fries for any other side--which is fine because the fries are good but apparently this is because they are "free" with the burger - Burger buns: at least the brioche ones didn't seem as fluffy as they used to...actually seemed a little smushed - Salted caramel bread pudding is delicious and great to share read more

Very disappointed with the decline in the food quality. Everyone in our party had sub par food and lukewarm coffee. our server was very good as were the fries. the burgers were bland, the salads not prepared as the menu stated. The atmosphere is cozy and food was ok for the most part. No one was wearing gloves or could I see sanitizing. The Rocky River Burger did not have much flavor. I asked for my burger to be prepared medium well and it was really well no medium. There was food on my knife from I don't know when that I almost used to cut into my burger. The server apologize then we notice towards the middle almost end of our meal we had no straws and asked again server apologized. Not one time did anyone come out to speak to us even though small three incidence of forgetfulness. I'm really not sure what my thoughts are I may or may not give them another try. Maybe just for dessert and to enjoy the atmosphere but other than that I'm not sure I'll be ordering food again. read more

Heck's is tucked away in a quaint neighborhood and sits perfectly on the corner with a perfect outdoor patio option. Whitney was our server and she was awesome.
