These are definitely the best wings I have found in the area. They're Thai coconut chili. Wings are absolutely amazing not to mention their waffle fries rather if you get the regular potato or the sweet potato, they are both phenomenal. This place is always very reliable and they always serve the food, fresh and hot. I definitely recommend this spot if you want wings of course also, their thighs are very underrated. The service is also pretty good too. I was surprised to find out they bring the food to you and your drinks. I thought it was more of a pick up style restaurant. Stopped by here today first time in a couple of years. Walls need repainted there's a lot of chips and gashes in the paint. The service was good. Food was okay. I got the chicken sandwich it's not the same and I'm devastated. It used to be the best fried chicken sandwhich in Durham. Now it's not worth the parking and walking up the hill. It's two pre breaded and fried chicken strips now. I miss the hand breaded fried sandwich it was amazing. The fries are the same they're waffle fried crisp. EVERYTHING IS MADE FRESH! The fudge brownies even aren't what they used to be. They're still excellent but something changed. I'm disappointed! I'd rather you guys raise your prices than lower your quality. I found this to be an average wing stop. This is a small restaurant with good amount of outdoor seating in a small courtyard. I liked the courtyard. I ordered bone-in wings and only tried one flavor, the PARMESAN GARLIC. It came with good garlic but little cheese flavor. Additionally, it had a vinegar hot sauce character which drove it to taste more like a garlic buffalo sauce. The Parmesan garlic sauce from the two big wing chains are better in my opinion. I ordered the wings extra crispy, which is a standard option in their online ordering page. They weren't extra crispy, nor were they even crispy at all. I was disappointed in this. I will say I received fast service. They were ready for pickup in just over 10 min after submitting the order online. My partner and I went to dinner here the other night. The decor is adorable with random art with buffalo all over. Our food was really good. I wanted two sauces on my wings but you can only get one sauce with the smaller order (and the price difference for the next largest was significant). I ended up getting the wings naked and then got two sauces on the side to try. I wasn't a huge fan of the zesty garlic parmesan because it was oily. The Peri Peri sauce was amazing though. The waffle fries were super crispy. You can get them with any of the dry rubs on there. I didn't but I tried my partner's sweet potato fries with jerk seasoning and it was delicious. I come to this place all the time when I am in town. Indeed, I am like a homing pigeon coming back to its lair The wings are amply sized, fried to a perfect crisp, and a coating of delicious sauce that is just right. No matter where I go across the fruited plane, I always try wings. I usually eat with a fork and knife so I am not distracted by stick sauce hands. At this place, and this place only, my hands dive in for the kill and I heartily nibble on the winglet and drum portion of the wing with the greatest of glee--entirely undeterred and unrestrained by the sloppy sauce-coated hands. Staff were moderately friendly. The directed me to a table where I was asked to use the QR code to order my food myself. I decided to try both a chicken sandwich and boneless wings. The wings can out first, and I had paid extra for them to be "extra wet" and definitely got my monies worth. Sauce was poured in. The wings were okay, I would say slightly better then average except the temperature was barely warm and closer to room temperature. About 10 mins later (not sure why) the second half of my meal came out. A chicken sandwich which I thought was breaded but either I ordered the wrong thing, it wasn't or is was so light I did not notice. It was okay as well. I'm not user how you are supposed to tip when I ordered myself on their website and all the worker did was hand me the food. I tipped 15% but probably more because I felt I should than needed to. At lest at McDonalds they actually take your order... Finally, they don't offer Wifi. Yes, you read he correctly, in 2022 they don't offer wifi. They claim they don't know the password. Realllly.... I was early to meet my friend and while there were no other tables in use, the waitress seemed a little bummed that I was only going to sit here with my laptop and sip at a beer. And then when my friend arrived and was quite indecisive about her dinner order, our waitress was a little frustrated. But honestly, so was I. This isn't a super complicated menu, folks. I got 13 wings (they do bone-in wings in 7, 13, 25, 51, 103 and 251 because yes, let's have odd numbers) in hot sauce. The arrived promptly and were pretty good. Not as meaty as some I've had but they were hot and fresh. Not swimming in sauce, the "hot" was only mildly hot. Going up to Zass-hoff would have been too much, so this was good. We also got a half order of the waffle fries, of which I tried one. A sweet potato with the zesty garlic parmesan, they were good. I wouldn't break keto for them, but good. The place slowly got a little busier but not enough that giving customers more time would have been a problem. TV's tuned in to two different movie channels and a wifi that I wasn't able to connect to and didn't really bother. A few options for people who don't eat wings (and why are you hanging around with them at a wing joint) including vegan wings (soy) and a chicken sandwich and salads with or without chicken nuggets. I have been hearing about heavenly buffaloes for some time now so I was excited to finally try it. The restaurant is located in a plaza with other businesses. There is a parking lot located behind the businesses. Outdoor seating is located in front of the business and tables and bar seating is inside. There is a television by the bar. I give the server, Nick 5 stars! He is really a people person person and wants you to have an enjoyable experience while dining here. He told me what the drink specials were and also made recommendations on the wings. I would give the food 4 stars. The food was good but not overwhelmingly spectacular. I ordered the sweet Thai chili wings. There are no descriptions for the wing flavors so I didn't realize that there would be nuts on the wings. It wasn't bad but just different. I also tried the heavenly Buffalo dry rub. By the time that I got home with my leftovers the rub had turned into a wet sauce and tasted like Buffalo wings. The wings were a good size. The wings are also served with carrots, celery and a choice of ranch or blue cheese. The fries were ok. The half order is large enough to share. They do offer seasonings that can be served on the fries. After eating Nick packed up my food for me. He has great customer service skills! If I come back I would try other food items. read more

I've always been a fan of "Heavenly Buffaloes". Hands down the best wings I've ever had! Unfortunately the Durham location never had a dine-in option, I would always have to order takeout. Well -- they do now at their 2nd location on Erwin Rd. There's nothing like fresh wings! It's even better to eat it fresh out from the kitchen! The wings were hot and fries were crispy! Same menu but with alcohol/drinks menu. It's not a bad place to catch a game since there are TV's in the front. Basically, if you're planning to dine-in, just find a table and a server will come to you. There are lots of seating options. The customer service is top notch. Victoria is the worst. I ordered online not knowing you can't drive up. You have to park downstairs in the back. It's raining and I wasn't able do that type of walking. Told her my situation and she said she would bring the food out then proceeded to tell me not to scream in her ear as I almost hurt her ear. I love Heavenly Buffaloes! We live in Wake Forest but every time we are around Durham or Chapel Hill we stop there to eat some wings. The Heavenly Buffaloes dry seasoning is so good that it's worth the 35min drive just to eat there. Met a co-worker for dinner as he was passing through town. Got 7 wings with Zass Hoss and Garlic Garlic sauce mixed. Were good, spicy and loads of garlic. The wings were really big and meaty which always makes me happy. I also got the sweet potato waffle fries with Garlic Parmesan seasoning.it was all really good. Solid wings as always! So glad they now have this location across from Duke with indoor and outdoor seating. Their waffle fries are so good and you can have them with your choice of seasoning. We've tried several of their sauces and loved most of them but if you are not sure about what you like, I'd say you can never go wrong with their classic medium sauce. I love their zesty garlic parm and Carolina honey mustard as well. Sauces I would skip: Their Thai Coconut Chili was a lil bit too coconut-y than Thai chili and the Ol' Vinnie..if you aren't crazy for vinegar--don't go there. The staff here were really nice and attentive, the server we had also let us sample the Ol' Vinie sauce first because he wasn't sure we were gonna like it, and sure enough we passed on it. This place was recommended to me by a friend. Having semi-high expectations walking in, the food did not disappoint. The ambiance was great with a sports bar type atmosphere. I got the 7 count bone-in medium spice level wings and half Idaho waffle fry. The wings were spiced right for the flavor designation. People who don't eat spicy food might find it a tad bit more spicy than what they'd imagine. I got 4 drums and 3 flats. The sauce was distributed fairly evenly and was a classic Buffalo taste. The fries were what impressed. Think Chick-fil-A waffle fries but thinner and crispier. Of course that entails more oil, but it wasn't overkill. It also was salted a tad bit more than I would've liked, but it really paired well with the wings. They served a larger portion of fries than necessary for a 7 piece wings. Something has changed with the consistency of their vegan nuggets. They used to be denser and chewier, and they're now very airy and and have an unpleasant consistency that feels sort of stringy. The flavor seems a little different, too. We've had two experiences with these "new" vegan nuggets, once here and once at the Markham location, so unfortunately it doesn't appear to be a fluke or bad luck. We had been going to Heavenly Buffaloes for years for their vegan wings, but these are now just unpalatable. And they either gave us the wrong size salad, or their regular/large salad is very small ($9.99 for even a large non-entree salad seems overly expensive regardless). "Good wings, and vegan options, right off Duke's west campus" While the original restaurant is by Ninth Street, this newer location offers greater convenience to Duke University's west campus as well as indoor dining (as well as 5 outdoor picnic tables). Available for dine-in, takeout, or delivery via DoorDash, and with a good amount of parking & other food options nearby, it's a convenient place for folks to get wings for themselves or a group. I ordered takeout on a Friday evening via phone-- process was smooth. I used the DoorDash menu for choosing what I wanted as a newbie-- it was more clearly descriptive of combinations than the website menu. Choose boneless, bone-in, or vegan wings, and then any of a range of dry or wet seasonings. The half-pound (or 7-count for vegan) option is more than enough for one person for a meal, especially if you get fries too. Speaking of fries, you can get any of the "dry rub" options on your fries too! We ordered buffalo medium regular wings, Thai coconut chili vegan wings, and garlic/ ginger vegan wings, as well as regular waffle fries with lemon-pepper. The fries were EPICALLY good. Highly recommend. We got the "full" size helping, and I'd say it was easily enough for maybe 3-4 people as a side to the wings. The chicken wings with buffalo medium were good and had some serious kick to it-- my son (who ordered it) was happy to have the ranch sauce to dip and cut it. Many thoughts on the vegan wings. On the positive, they did have a texture almost like chicken-- moreso than any other vegan dish I've had. It was milder in flavor than chicken-- really absorbed what it was sitting in. Therein lied a bit of the problem. My dish was the Thai coconut chili one. On the one hand, the store was generous in putting a LOT of this sauce. But it was, in my opinion, too much sauce-- it was so much that the wings were basically almost floating in it. And by the time I got it home and started eating, it tasted like just spooning this sauce into my mouth. Good for a few bites, but it got old fast, especially with no complementing flavor from the "wings" themselves. I feel they should've only put on 25% the amount of sauce they did. Other issue-- the texture was accurate, but accurate to overcooked chicken. It was really hard to bite through them. I gave up using just a fork and went to fork & knife pretty quick. Realistically, I wouldn't order this combination again-- I may go for either regular chicken or maybe a dry rub instead. My wife's garlic/ ginger one was also drowning in sauce, but on the up-side, it was a much less powerful sauce, so not bad in that regard. Wings were supposed to come with celery, too, but I saw we didn't get any when I opened the bag at home. Maybe I was supposed to specify that I did want it (even though it's supposed to come with the dishes)? They never asked... Sadness... Service was OK. When I showed up at the restaurant for pick-up, there was no one in line, but no one behind the counter. There was no "bell" or any similar way to get attention from folks in the back. Maybe 4-5 minutes later, someone did walk up to help, but seemed to walk up from the customer area-- did he see me standing all that time and no identify himself as an employee? Or did he just walk in from outside? I couldn't tell. Anyway, friendly enough, and I got my food and left. Overall, I'd rate this as a "good". I'd be willing to go back, but I'll order differently next time-- likely getting boneless chicken wings rather than vegan, or if getting vegan, going for either a milder flavor or dry rub. And will ask for the celery explicitly. read more

Got takeout from this location and it was superb! Boneless wings had the perfect breading to chicken ratio and were tender and not overcooked at all. I do wish they had a bit more sauce on them, but the flavoring of each was amazing. I got a 1lb order and it was enough for 3 meals, which was a nice surprise for the price. I mean this as a compliment when I say their idaho regular fries tasted like popeyes cajun fries (my favorite fries in this planet), so needless to say I will be back for those! Heavenly Buffaloes has the best wings in town!!! I'm obsessed with their boneless honey barbecue wings, but my friends all say the other sauce options and bone-in wings are good, too. The fries are equally delicious, and there is always good beer on tap. Not only is the food great, but the service is excellent!! David has helped me several times when I've visited this location, and he always makes sure that everyone in the restaurant is taken care of (he checks on the people sitting inside, outside, picking up to-go orders, etc.). I've heard lots of great things about HB and so have been wanting to try for a while. I was glad they had a dining option on Erwin. Good: Everyone was very nice and helpful. The wings were great, meaty and not fatty. They had a special on $2 red stripe beer when we went. Bad: i think they probably sold a lot of red stripe. But our 3 beers we drank were barely cool. Not a fan of warm beer. They tried to find me the coldest after so i did appreciate they tried. They only had carrots and no celery due to high cost of celery. Not a big deal. Ugly: I'm posting 3 pictures of the menu and my receipt. 1st is from online, 2nd the menu at the restaurant, 3rd my receipt. I can forgive the online. But when they hand you a menu at the location with a certain price i had expected that on my bill. I asked about it and was told i should have been told the prices aren't correct. I understand but i think it would have been just as easy to either 1. Post a sign at the front (ie. Due to rising cost and shortage of chicken ....- the reason i was given) 2. Put stickers or strike out prices on the menu. 3. Put signs posting actual prices.
