I gave 3 stars because the food was good. Beyond that - I won't be back. I went with my mom, sister and niece. We all did the Mothers Day tasting menu and 3 of us did the wine tasting with it. The food was fantastic - no complaints. We weren't told what wines went with what foods so that sucked, especially when some of us got beef and some got fish as an entree - so we shouldn't of all had the same wine. We got dessert wine and AFTER we had finished the dessert. They brought 2 of the dessert wines and then, as we were getting up to leave, brought a 3rd. Our bill was wrong - charged all of us $80 per person for the tasting menu instead of the advertised $70. The wine tasting was advertised as $25 per person and they billed us $40 per person. We had other plans that we had to get to so mentioned the over charge on the way out. They called and credited the difference - which we appreciated. We were there an hour and a half which was plenty of time to get through all the courses and be served ALL the wine while eating. I was upset we left the dessert wine because it wasn't brought until we were leaving. read more

Want to feel comfortable in May, this is your' spot. Same amazing food as always with a touch of the current climate. You'll need a phone to pay but they will walk you through the simple process. Just not good. Really. I've been 3 times. The first time I thought maybe I just didn't order the right thing. The second time we went with another couple who chose this place, and again my meal was poor. The third time I thought this has to be the charm - right? Wrong. But we went anyway because of a gift card I was given. I will never, ever go here again. Literally anywhere else in Ogden would be better. Except for maybe Harley & Bucks. The Hearth is a great place to splurge on a nice dinner. The space is quiet, nicely furnished and comfortable. The wait staff is helpful, attentive and informative. The dishes are interestingly designed with an unusual mix of flavors that can be knock-your-socks off delicious. The duck in a guava jus is an unexpected delight- the various flavors in the sauce combine to make a truly exceptional dish. The flavor profiles can tend towards the sweet- be warned. All-in-all, this restaurant is worth trying if you are looking for something more than the standard comfort food fare. read more

The service was great; the food, no so much. They wanted to brag about making everything there; fairly common for decent restaurants. I had the elk & Yak meatballs- they were so so dry I had to keep rolling then around in the sauce. The elk, didn't taste like elk. Clearly not worth $19 (for 3). I then had the French dip and there were two things very off. The broth tasted mainly of vinegar, and the cheese did not go with rest of the sandwich. The meat reminded me of a holiday pot roast from the 80's- not good. The prices here are ridiculous and all over the place. I have spend over $150 per plate for food, but the quality here just doesn't justify $40+ per person. Also they charged $18 for a beer. read more

One of the few spots on 25th that is open past 8, we ended up there after a long drive. The ambiance is really nice, love that some tables have couches instead of chairs. No host/hostess upon arrival, a server ended up seating us with apologies. We ordered the french dip and the stroganoff and a brussels sprout salad to share. The salad was INCREDIBLE, and worth going to this restaurant alone. We loved it. The french dip was reasonably priced for what we got, it was full of cheesy goodness. The only thing is that it's made on flatbread, which got soggy way too fast. French dips need to be on sturdy bread. The stroganoff I had a real problem with. It was dry. Hardly any sauce at all. It was full of different types of mushrooms and some really tender beef, but the lack of sauce ruined it. I ended up taking it home, and even after throwing some butter and sour cream in it to sauce it up, it was inedible. And it cost $26. Worst money I've ever spent, VERY disappointed. For drinks, we got a beer (the server was very knowledgable on the recommend) and a Blackberry Mule, which was delicious. Overall it was a nice dinner, but I'm taking two stars off for the price of the food and the blandness of the stroganoff. read more

I had a horrible experience at this restaurant. We went out to celebrate my birthday and I received my steak-which was supposed to be medium well-cold and rare. Also, it took over 20 minutes to have a waiter come and take our drink order after seated. Definitely not worth the price. read more

HEART BROKEN- this was our favorite place in ogden!... the menu change. We had planned for weeks (even with a reservation) to attend with another couple. Three of the four of us had already decided what we would have- then we learned all the items were removed from the menu. The amazing burger and the brick oven ham and three cheese sandwich. None of us could find anything that appealed to us on the spring menu. We are just about to leave when the waiter suggested the "dine in ogden menu" we all chose the 6 course. The yak meatball was good but slightly under cooked. The salvation was the coffee rubbed elk and Deseret. Sadly until the menu changes we wont be back to our once FAV PLACE. read more

At first glance, this is exactly the kind of restaurant I like. It looks nice, the staff is professional, the menu items are unique and sound delicious, but unfortunately they just aren't executed well. I have no problem dropping some coin on a fantastic meal, but the food here just isn't good. I had the curry masala carbonara, it was served lukewarm and relied way too heavily on the creamy sauce, I couldn't detect any of the flavors that were promised in the description. The man had the spicy shrimp pizza, which was at least edible but came with small breaded shrimp, not the lovely grilled shrimp one would expect from a higher end restaurant. We had the unfortunate experience of eating here when it was Jasoh, at least this time the meal didn't end in dry heaves. Given the huge disconnect between price and quality, I will not be giving them another chance. read more

We have finally found a true fine dining restaurant in Ogden. While the bread wasn't quit fresh the olive oils were amazing. The service was slightly less than desirable but nothing to stop us from returning. The prices are high because there is no competition for food of this level in Ogden. read more

Had a wonderful dinner experience at the Hearth. Although I've lived in Ogden for many years, this was my first experience dining at the Hearth and it was phenomenal. I was drawn to it after seeing that they had a specialty menu for Ogden Restaurant Week and figured why not give it a shot? We ordered their 6 course tasting menu and because it was restaurant week it was specially priced at $50. The atmosphere was very pleasant with great views of Ogden's historic 25th st below. The waitress, Clara, was especially kind and provided fantastic service. She was very attentive and did a great job explaining all the details of each dish. There were many dishes. We started off with ordering some fresh oysters that they had recently brought in. We then had little hors d'oeuvres which consisted of green tomatoes, butter poached beet, sunchoke, and much more. It also came with a salad with a tasty vinaigrette. We also had the quail confit, duck, and octopus for small plates and they were stellar! Then for the main entree, the surf and turf which was an 8oz Wagyu steak and shrimp with a beurre bland emulsion. The vegetables that came on the side were roasted and had pieces of salami. The meal was absolutely incredible. I'm glad to have found this place in Ogden. I heard that they have rotating seasonal menus and can't wait to try the next one in the winter! read more

The atmosphere is the exact same as the last restaurant, Jasoh. They have added some olive oils and pasta that they make and sell. The food is really good and really expensive. Besides the price the food was very good. The desserts were the worst that our entire table have ever ordered. The cheese cake didn't have any crust and our waiter admitted that it fell off and served it anyway. Service is what will kill this restaurant. It's SLOW. 2 1/2 hours from start to finish. No refills on drinks. No personality from the staff and did I mention that it was SLOW. Amazing food and a fun place that is centered on serving mixed drinks and good bistro type food. Hearth is one of my favorite restaurants not just in Ogden, but in northern Utah. Fresh seasonal entrees, utilizing local ingredients, great small plates & appetizers, and probably the best cocktail program north of Salt Lake. It's one of the classier joints in town. The cuisine is always creative, impressive, and delicious. You can tell a lot of attention is put into the small details, which is sometimes rare to see, and always appreciated. Great atmosphere! Hailey was our server, she was new but was still a great server for being new. The food was wonderful. I had the southwest chili, spicy and tasty! My husband said the Winter Hearth Bread was great but rich. My son loved his pizza. For the main course I had the slow mood stroganoff made gluten free with risotto and mushrooms. It was perfect, thank you. My husband's main course was the fettuccine and clams he said was tasteless. He was expecting it to have more flavor. Overall good experience. Absolutely fantastic meal. 4 dishes were the elk steak, the stroganoff, carbonara and French dip sandwich. While the stroganoff needed a dash of pepper, everything was absolutely delicious. The wine and alcohol list is extensive and the quality of ingredients shines through. I'd be intrigued to come back in different seasons due to the 100% local ingredients. I'd heard amazing things and the rave reviews fell short. Ignore the odd low star reviews that seem to be confused about the exact nature of why you go to restaurants and it isn't coupons or other silly crud. You go for the food. Found this place on our three day stay in Ogden. From what We were able to find this has got to be the best place in town. The service was great and our waitress was very knowledgeable. I liked how she explained everything on how old things were and how to eat it which made it feel more upscale. The only problem is that I got the scallop black linguine. It just was not a flavor I was expecting. So I didn't like it all that much. I think it was the olives that were in it. I am just not a fan of olives. Some olives were okay but I feel like there were a lot and it changed the flavor to where it wasn't my favorite. read more

Just had lunch here on our way to SLC for flights home. Absolutely love their food and I come from the French restaurant business. Portions were perfect. I had pear and goat cheese salad and ham and cheese crepe. Finally a restaurant that serves a normal sized crepe and not one the size of a large pizza lol. Truffle fried are also wonderful. The flat bread which is their big thing is not my style. It cracker like. I found myself long for some real bread. The ambiance was cool and service was good. At 40 a person that mean would have been disappointing. At well over twice that, it just kind of pissed me off. 200 dollars for two people, it left me feeling cheated. I had heard such good things. Seen such great reviews. I was excited. The waitress was pleasant. The staff accommodating. The food, not just not good but bland and terrible. We ordered the amuse bouche. Or a little of everything. I'm a foodie, and a cook myself. The salmon smeared bread baguette was dry and flavorless. The rabbit ravioli, was cold clammy and flavorless. Rabbit stew was just empty. Leaving me feeling like someone put those things on the menu just to have the shock factor of serving them. I was excited to try a new chef inspired thing. But the only inspiration was, what happened to the real chef? We kept coming up with stories of where he had gone. And why? Dry flavorless tenderloin, and vegetables that were soooo salty I couldn't finish more than a few bites. Followed up by a bread pudding that had no texture. Very little flavor. And layered in Sauces that has no business being on that plate at all. All in all I would and never will return. I feel bad. But at the fact that myself and my wife were one of 3 tables with people at them on a Tuesday night at 7 o'clock, I don't imagine it being much longer before they drive their client base away. read more

Hearth is a great restaurant. They've have problems with the kitchen in years past. Meals would come out crazy slow. In the last 18 months I've never had to wait an above normal time for my food. They have a great staff that is genuinely friendly. One of my out of state pals is a major foodie, he insists on eating here anytime he's in state. The menu is on the spendy side for O-town, but the atmosphere and quality of food make it worth the price. The French dip sandwich is a great option for less money. The bacon wrap beef shoulder is my go to. Not huge, but well portioned. The olive oil and vinegar combos they serve at the start of the meal are fun and usually very good. My favorite was a lime olive oil with strawberry vinegar. One weird thing is the building it's located in. Its odd to leave the restaurant to use the bathroom in the hall. I think the rest if the building is offices and apartments. While a nice newer space, it feels a little out of place here. read more

We have stopped by Hearth of 25th several times. Every time we have come it's been a great experience! Tonight however was especially good! The staff was great especially Chris our server. The food was well prepared and since we weren't supper hungry we each got the goat cheese and pear salad then split the pork chop. Many place charge split fee but not here. One star off because truffle fries came out cold but they fixed right away! Sat out on the balcony which had good city/mountain views. My mom and mother-in-law both love this place, so I've been here numerous times over the years. They are constantly changing the restaurant (name, location, menu, etc.), but it's stayed fairly the same. They sell all kinds of different flavors of olive oils and balsamic vinegars which I HIGHLY recommend. However, the food is overpriced and the service is soooo slow. The last time I was here my mom and I waited 1.5 hrs for LUNCH! And we were one of only two groups in the restaurant. I do enjoy their food; it's very tasty! But I can't always justify the price for what you get, so it's never on my list of go-to places. read more

So much potential, so many disappointments. Admittedly, we had a large party, but astonishingly, it took over three and a half hours to complete dinner, the vast majority of the time wondering where the staff disappeared to. It took TWO HOURS FOR THE WAITER TO BRING US A CAN OF BEER...seriously! The restaurant was practically empty, I literally only saw one other couple and we had three servers, they had no excuse. I ordered the guava duck, described in great detail as a duck breast with a paragraph of delectable accoutrements. When taking my order, the waitress snidely said, "You know, that is the half duck breast order? If you want the whole duck breast, it will be $10 more." My thought was, that is not what the menu says, so why are you telling me this now? And, why would I want to double the dinner portion? Anyway, I declined and ordered the regular (and only) portion listed on the menu. Well, I got about 4 oz. of food. No kidding. The tiniest portion of meat sitting on about 4 carrot matchsticks surrounded by tiny dollops of sauce. It tasted ok, but it was ridiculous that it took longer to read the description of the "meal" than it did to actually eat it. My friend ordered tomato soup which was thin and had no flavor. Another ordered a focaccia sandwich and said it was so salty she could hardly eat it, but at least the french fries were good. When the bill finally arrived, they were abysmal at splitting the check, it was an absolute trainwreck! Then, we noticed they had charged us TRIPLE for the appetizer and DOUBLE for several drinks. It took two bill revisions and another 45 min. to get it all straightened out. Conclusion: We were hoping for a slightly upscale dining experience with fun food and professional service. We left feeling like we wasted our time and money; and we were still hungry! This place is simply too pretentious for its own good. Response: Their response below is defensive and misleading. While some people arrived early and had drinks at the bar, we arrived on time, and if several rounds of drinks were served before ordering food, IT WASN'T TO US! As I stated before, WE WAITED TWO HOURS FOR THE FIRST BEER...and then we were handed a CAN...like we were at a backyard BBQ. No one moved around the table as suggested. I witnessed the exchange regarding the appetizer confusion mentioned. When the waitress said there was a meat choice (the menu was not clear about that), the gentleman asked if his order could be "half and half with a little of both," and the waitress said yes. He was very clear. Half and half is one order, not two, so it is only fair that it should have been corrected. Also, nowhere in their response did they address the inadequate, misleading menu (if customers spend two hours staring at it and still don't know the options and have no idea what portions they are ordering, something is seriously wrong); or the food issues I specifically mentioned (tomato soup thin and flavorless, focaccia way too salty, etc.). It's also naïve for them to think that one cannot roam from one private dining area to the restroom and see the other empty or nearly empty dining areas from time to time...especially when spending that much time in a place. Perhaps most disappointing was what I did not see...any sign of remorse or regret for the frustration and disappointment they played a key role in...or any sign that they might take the feedback provided and at least attempt to improve future experiences. We checked this place out tonight and the food was amazing. We had the truffle pasta and beef stroganoff both were heavenly. The pasta is made fresh and you can tell the difference. Homemade bread with flavored balsamic vinegars and olive oil was so flavorful. I highly recommend coming here. read more
