Excellent atmosphere. Staff was helpful and friendly. Food was fresh and delicious. Good variety in flavors. Pricing ok for the quality. It was worth the drive. read more

Sooo disappointing. Charged $22 for spaghetti and meatballs. The serving portion was an appetizer size. We said yes when she asked if we wanted bread, not telling us it was a $5 charge. Dinner came it in about 4 minutes, so I had to eat my dinner cold because I was waiting for the bread. Server was nice but wow, I'm still hungry and just spent a fortune. read more

Had a huge takeout order to place for a business lunch and the phone was never answered even though they were open for business. At 11:30 am, the online ordering was only available for 4:15 at the earliest. Sounds like major staffing issues. Their loss. read more

Excellent, the drinks are beautiful. The appetizers are delicious. Charcuterie and cheese were excellent. Food is sound and flavorful. The service is very friendly, management is helpful. And they all work together very nicely. Can't say enough good things about everyone. Nice casual atmosphere. read more

Great food and atmosphere, cone in for lunch all the time. The steak salad is fantastic, as well as the sausage soup. A must try in the area. read more

I don't leave reviews, but we had a fantastic experience. Great service. Great food. We were on our way to Longwood. And the food came out very fast. Kids were happy with their food. And the menu had great options. Will be back again! read more

Honestly just ok, food was good but nothing special. It arrived very hot which is fantastic. There were no special touches, no little sweet buns or tiny bread basket with perhaps a signature jam or spread- just given the reputation and skill of owner I expected more. Omelet could have had a little Arugula, Frisée garnish...Nothing stood out and sorry to say but details matter. It was very quiet and the server was surly and not at all welcoming or hospitable which was reflected in the gratuity. My friends and I agreed that we wouldn't be returning. read more

This is a really good place to eat! Everyone is friendly food is excellent and wine list is exceptional. I was surprised that I didn't have to search for my duck in my pasta. There was so much I was wondering where the pasta was. Perfect balance. Staff is polite and knowledgeable and food is excellent. There are tables for groups of 6 and the bar and then private tables. Nice mix of seating arrangements. Completely recommend this place for anyone looking for a nice mix of Italian and new American. Pizzas looked great also. read more

Second time there. First time was not great so we wanted to give another try. Overall experience was average. Service was really good and inside was clean and comfortable. For appetizers, we had grilled octopus and roasted beets - they were good. For entrees, we had short rib Cavetelli, sea bass special, and daughter had cheese pizza. We were disappointed with those. Wood fire pizza was doughy and too much sauce, cavetelli pasta was good but the sauce was too sweet. Sea bass was bland and not fresh (why make it a special?). the only highlight was the octopus. For the price they charge, I was expecting better food. I will continue to try to support the local businesses. read more

Wow I was very impressed with the menu as well as the food when it came out. My wife and I each had appetizers an entrée and it was delicious. it was a bit crowded so we sat at the bar. Gary the bartender was amazing super attentive and just an all-around great guy to chat with. His personality certainly enhanced our entire experience. If you're looking for some good food and a good laugh seat yourself right at the bar Gary is an amazing mixologist!! read more

Great food and creative casual dining

Quality and consistency of food and service over three visits. Excellent variety and plate sizes, currently without question the best restaurant in the greater Kennett Square area. read more

Super disappointing!! Went with party of 6 the day after Christmas. First the good. My buddy got a pizza and it was very good. Everything else was meh. Wife got the bean soup and Beet salad. The soup was ok the beet salad was old tasting. Steak salad was over cooked. Two club sandwiches seemed skimpy. Now my real aggravation. I ordered the meatball parm. It comes out and the meat balls are cold. I send it back. 15 mins later it returns . The bread ciabatta was nice and warm but the meatball still are not! Really! The waiter never returned to ask. So they put the plate in the oven and someone in the kitchen thought that would work? By the way they served me the same fries. This is a $12 sandwich. To the waiters credit he took it off the check. So what! I didn't get lunch. By the way the meatballs were not great. The whole bill was $148 with tip. I may return for half price Pizza at happy hour , otherwise I will not be back. read more

Hearth Kitchen - Pizza Near Me - Kennett Square, Pennsylvania

I rarely write bad reviews but the service at this place continues to be so awful that I was motivated to share my experiences. It's a shame the service is so bad because the food is actually pretty good. My first time at the bar, it wasn't crowded but my husband and I waited for a half hour for a drink while the bartender walked by us several times, it was bizarre as no one was at the bar at the time. On another occasion, they ran out of pizza dough on a Friday night and were unapologetic and annoyed when we ordered a pizza, got our order wrong, then the bill came and they tried to charge us for the pizza they couldn't make! This past weekend, I ordered online, waited an hour and 45 minutes, arrived, and my order still wasn't ready. I complained and the manager was extremely rude. I have talked to others who have had similar experiences. I won't be back. read more

Most frozen pizza is usually better. Definitely overpriced for a spot in Kennett. Food is never consistent. Usually it's pretty undercooked or overcooked, but every once in a while it's not bad. Some of the worst calamari that I've had. Bartenders are usually pretty cool guys. read more

Delicious pizza and friendly staff. We enjoy eating at the bar and the bartenders are simply great. It's our date night spot. Perfect atmosphere, busy but fun. 5 stars! read more

My sister, mother and I went here last night for dinner. Very cute place - love the decor. We waited over 50 minutes for our food to come out. & when we asked our waitress she responded with a snarky "human error" they messed up the pasta. I completed understand that things happen in a kitchen that may cause delay. But we should have been informed of said issues. Flash forward our food came out - pizza was cold , the burger that was supposed to be medium well was straight up medium /Extremely bloody. Only plus was the gnocchi pasta was great. Felt a lot of aggression from our waitress after that, I think just because we asked the simple question of when she thought our food would be out. (After waiting 50 minutes) and watching tables of 8 who sat down after us get their food first.... To pay over 100 for food that was under cooked/ cold and not out in a timely manner is upsetting. Not sure that if I was ever in the area again if I would dine here. Nor would I recommend based on my experience last night. read more

We stopped at this place while passing through Kennett Square. The menu looked great: Homemade pasta, wood fired oven pizza, nice variety of small, medium, and large plates....After ordering drinks and my wife getting a short pour of wine for $11. (Wine list is very expensive for the type of place it was. Bottles start at $50.) We started with a cheese and charcuterie plate and it was wonderful...nice variety and very well presented. That was the highlight of our meal. We then waited over 1 hour to get our medium plate pasta dishes. The server apologized for the wait and gave us a free drink. When the entrees finally came, they were so salt laden, I could feel my blood pressure rise with each bite. The fresh bread was wonderful, but again, the butter (made in house?) was also extremely salty. This place could be great, but I would cross it off the list for a repeat visit. read more

Our first time Hearth Kitchen - we had the beef tartare (heavenly! SOOOO delicious with the warm egg on top) and the Calamari (perfectly cooked) and then had the Pork Cheek Ravioli and the Ricotta Gnocci. It's not cheap here, but OMG is the food heavenly! read more

Great new addition to Kennett Dining. Been there twice and both times everything was delicious. Will recommend to friends and family.

Just had their Spanish picnic. Fabulous and really enough for 2 meals. Great flat bread, tuna escabeche, tapas. The paella was wonderful. Heated in our oven. A real treat and very special. Packed well. Loved it. Thank you for making isolation bearable read more

Well, they're new. And the format is a good idea. Sadly not really their idea. But ok. Stylish food for the country palate. Not pretentious. But comfortable. Interesting. And warm. Well, that's the idea. But in fact I'm reminded of the quote "for a good time in Toronto ... go to Montreal". So if you would like great, friendly, quality , tasty, interesting but reliable food within a few minutes of Kennett sq. , do what I did tonight (sadly AFTER dinner at Hearth) and just go to Sovana like you were planning to. Your ears will thank you , your mouth will thank you , your digestion will thank you and your heart will thank you. So try it once (like we did) , if you have to. Then go back to what works. read more

I'm not typically all that motivated to write reviews but our experience was so underwhelming tonight, I feel like I need to say SOMETHING. We don't get to go out often so when we do, we do our research ahead of time. The reviews we'd read that led us to choose this restaurant set us up with high expectations that were not at all met. The table was cold - large windows were not well-insulated and a chilly breeze hit us every time the door opened. The service was slow. It took 10 minutes for water to be served, 15 minutes for the bottle of wine we ordered to arrive. It happened more than once that our waitress would walk by to attend to the tables around us and not look at us at all. Two orders were messed up. One, they gave the bread we ordered to the table next to us - this after I had to remind them that we'd ordered it. Two, my mom's pasta dish was served with the main protein missing. They remedied both issues when we pointed it out, to their credit. (And both the bread and moms pasta ended up being comped.) The food was really just so-so. The long-awaited bread - $5 for 4 slices of toasted bread with some butter on the side. The beet salad was too vinegary. My dish- the gnocchi- had elements that were undercooked and mostly tasted of salt. My moms long-awaited pasta was completely mediocre, even when made right. Overall, we were pretty bummed with our experience. read more

We went for lunch. The food here was excellent. We got the 11" sausage pizza and a ribeye sandwich with two iced teas. The pizza was good and the sandwich was incredible. The olive tapenade was excellent as well. I was surprised that the service was as good as it was for the second day they were open. The only reason I am not giving it 5 stars is because the pricing was a little high, especially for the iced tea and pizza, the sandwich was priced fair. We will back for sure. read more

I moved here from San Francisco last fall. And with all due respect to Chester County, and I do mean, with all due respect (that's a Ricky Bobby quote), I have yet to find a restaurant that isn't "one bubble off". I am so excited about this restaurant. We went the first night, which, it should be expected that the first night is a little rough. The octopus was top notch, the prosciutto and peach pizza was very good, the drinks are modern and fresh, and our waiter was refreshing and sassy. I've been searching for a neighborhood haunt where I can belly up and have a great salad and some drinks. This may be it. Prediction. This will be the best restaurant in Chester County and hopefully will set the standard for others. read more

My wife and I visited on July 20. It was our first time here. We live in the area and wanted to check out the wood fired pizza and the overall vibe of the place. The ambience is classy, not stuffy. We sat at the bar and started out with a bottle of Portuguese Vinho Verde Rose. It was very nice and not outrageously priced at $32. That was the best part of our visit. My wife ordered the basic pizza - fresh Mozzarella and basil with some chunks of tomato. I ordered the small plate octopus. The octopus was OK but underwhelming. It was cooked well but could have benefited from a spritz of fresh lemon and a drizzle of olive oil and sea salt.......and maybe some fresh parsley. The cubes of fried polenta detracted from the dish. The pizza was really just OK. With the Renato wood fired oven this place should be turning out the best pizzas in the entire Philadelphia metro and suburban area. The crust was too thick and had way too much cornmeal on the bottom. The pizza lacked flavor. My wife said it tasted like a Chipotle pizza. I suggest a visit to Pizzeria Stella in PHL to see how thin crust is done well in a busy place. Basic ingredients, great equipment and a nailed down process. We will visit again soon, as we are eager to see this place succeed. read more

We decided to stop in for lunch late on a Saturday and we were NOT disappointed! First the decor is very nice and comfortable and the menu, while not overly large, was loaded with enticing options. We ordered the Roast Pork and Grilled Cheese sandwiches on Adam's (our excellent waiter) recommendation....the roast pork was phenomenal and the accompanying fries were delicious (thin cut and crispy). My wife forgot to mention her sesame allergy so we had to request the grilled cheese to go and ordered a Baked Italian instead. Sandwiches were super fast and the Baked Italian ended up being one of the best sandwiches we've ever had (and we've had a lot of sandwiches)! Additionally, despite the sesame allergy issue being 100% our fault, they took half the price off the check as a courtesy. I was highly impressed with the food, the service, and the customer focused policies. We will most definitely be returning! read more

Want to feel good about the food you eat being safe? Don't come here. We were served the meatball appetizer which came with the meatballs refrigerator cold in the center (a violation of proper food handling). We explained this to the server who assured us they were cooked ahead of time. Then the manager came over and said she understood we did not "like" our appetizer. She said they had never received complaints before and they wouldn't charge us for a dish we never ate. Not once did we receive an apology or an offer of a properly heated appetizer. To compensate, they served overcooked entrees apparently to prove something. Unfortunately, bad experience all around at a restaurant that has not trained any level or type of employee about proper food safety. read more

Saaaddd excuse for Italian food. It's like the Olive Garden and a sub par Steven Starr restaurant had a baby. The staff is completely clueless. At least teach your 12 year old waiters to pronounce the names of Italian dishes properly. And teach your cooks how to use garlic in the recipes. There is such a thing as too much. Do yourself a favor; just go next door to Two Stones Pub and have some really good food and awesome service. Or save a lot of money and just go to the Olive Garden. read more

First time Saturday night for my wife's birthday Excellent service in a classy comfortable atmosphere Everything from calamari to pizza absolutely perfection Main courses bucatini , rigatoni, hanger steak and all sauces done flawlessly Can't wait to spread the word that there is a high quality restaurant in the area Keep doing what your doing We will be back read more

First time at Hearth Kitchen. The food was good but the service was lacking. Took way to long to get appetizers and the time between the appetizer and main courses again failed to meet expectations. For me the organization and efficiencies are as important as the food quality. I will try them again as I am a local resident but time management will have to improve for me to remain a customer. read more

Tried this place for lunch recently. Waaaay overpriced for the food. Waitress seemed annoyed to be there. Overall good food but $39 just for me for a mimosa, app and side salad is absolutely ridiculous. This has become one of our absolute favorite spots. Over the past few months we have just about ordered everything on the menu and have been consistently impressed. The vibe is great, especially at the bar. The service is always friendly. The bar tenders are a step above. True professionals. The cocktails are excellent. While we often stick to a simple martini when we go out due to the fact that drinks are expensive and we find ourselves disappointed at other restaurants, here we will order drink specials and cocktails that we would never try at other places. The drinks are balanced and flavorful and that is hard to find. We have added this to our mix of favorite places for lunch and dinner and could not be happier. Definitely worth a try and sit at the bar if you can. read more

Second visit (dinner). Except for the background music, appealing, adult atmosphere (dark wood, tin ceiling, low light). Varied menu with interesting recipes/preparations; good choice of wine and beer. Something as seemingly simple as a mixed greens salad was unique and excellent. We'll be back for a third meal and beyond. Wish they replaced the distracting background music with soft jazz or something more complementary to the ambience. Servers need more polish--we had to ask about menu additions; our server spun his tray while talking with us; overall our servers both visits kind of perfunctory. Food runner service model meant our food arrived promptly. read more

Got take out and pizza (TOMATO: fresh mozzarella basil, olive oil) was bland. Crust was VERY soggy and literally fell apart as I tried to pick it up. Caesar salad was ok. Neither the pizza or salad even came close to Sovana. Hopefully it gets better! I'd be willing to give it another go as I am confident in the team that opened it. But as of now, Meh. read more
