This is our first trip to Savannah, otherwise known as the most haunted city in the United States. So naturally I had to do a ghost tour. I found out about this one from Pinterest. They have 3 different times you can choose from. I liked the idea of being in a hearse it's more macabre. There is 8 seats, so if you have a small group you will be making friends :) You also have the option of a private tour. Our tour guide was "Black Betty" She was super friendly and very knowledgeable about the history & ghost stories from long ago. The tour was about an hour. I thought I was told when I booked 75 min but I could be wrong. The only thing/ tip I would say you should know after your tour starts is that the historic downtown Savannah as a open container & your tour guide will graciously stop at the bar or a liquor store ( we did a liquor store ) Sounds great right ?!? We thought so too, but those 10 minutes getting out of the hearse & getting your drinks takes away from your actual tour. So I would recommend bringing your drink with you or waiting the hour out. I would do this tour again but I will not be stopping for any alcohol! read more

This was a fun tour. Our tour guide was Heebie Jeebies Jennifer. She was great! She texted to confirm the tour time and was waiting for us when we arrived 30 minutes early. Her interaction with the family was fun, she kept us laughing the entire tour. The information she shared was intense but she didn't make it too scary. Prepare to take photos to analyze after the tour. There just might be a ghost or orb photobomb. read more

First off, they advertise like you get picked up at your hotel which is not the case. We were asked what hotel we were staying at and then told to go to the Holiday Inn Express lobby to wait. There was a hearse waiting across the street but no one was inside at 5:45 for our 6:00 tour. Finally the guy appears and he asks us the name we booked under and tells us that we are not on his list; he's fully booked. We call the operator and get a recording. She calls us back and tells us we have another ride/hearse coming. Another girl across the street calls them as well and gets a similar story. Currently 5:57PM and no Hearse. 6:05 comes and no hearse. Luckily the girl across the street came to ask us if we were waiting too and told us the hearse was running late due to an accident elsewhere and would be coming late around 6-6:10. Did the company inform us? Absolutely not. Very poor communication. Finally the guy shows up around 6:10ish and we get in. The chairs are extremely cramped and hard. Our driver told us many stories while driving around the squares in town and randomly stopped at a bar for 10 minutes. At the end of the tour, we were told to pay cash for our tour even though we had given a credit card number over the phone to book it. The driver told us it was because the drivers are independent contractors that we pay them directly. Just a weird way to do business. Oh, we did get a minor discount for the delay so we paid $15 instead of $17. Honestly I wasn't impressed with this tour from the beginning and I'm positive there's better ones in Savannah. read more

Had some impromptu guests arrive and was looking for some midweek activities for them. Having never done the ghost tours before I was pleasantly surprised at how much I did not know about Savannahs ghostly history. Our driver was prompt, polite, informative and had a 'gallows humor", starting with his name "Robin Graves'. The hearse was as comfortable as hearses can be. Its all about the kitsch not the comfort. We had a great time on our hearse ghost tour with Peg-Leg Ron, though, as other reviewers have noted, it was tough to understand the ghost stories themselves, in part because his accent was so strong that I could only catch every tenth word to so. One thing we were pretty disappointed in was some of the misogyny of the tour guide, who kept telling us how pretty we were, made a joke about transgender women, & at one point said something about "knowing any lawyers," which, to me, assumed none of us were - and one of us was! I know Savannah is the south, & the south is notoriously old-guard in terms of politics & political correctness, but as a bunch of Yankee liberals, we were a little bit uncomfortable with some of the language. More ghosts, please. Overall, though, it was a really fun thing to do. Ron was a nice guy who told us some hilarious stories, really hammed up his southern ghost tour performance, gave us some great to-do-in-the-city tips, and, of course, drove us around old Savannah telling us all about local haunting. As we got used to his accent, he became easier to understand, & we were able to take more in. By the time we were done with him, we wanted more! He also kindly dropped us off at a different spot than he'd picked us up, offering to deliver us right to the door of our next bar. If you're super uptight, looking for a serious ghost tour, or want something extra-spooky, this isn't the tour for you. But if you just want a fun adventure with friends in the back of a weird vintage hearse, give this one a go. We had a great time! read more

I was here to run the Rock N Roll Savannah Half Marathon today. I stumbled upon this Ghost tour. I literally was riding around in a real hearse. The hearse over the years had over 4,000 dead bodies in it. Albert "Algorey", the tour guide, was extremely informative and knows his Savannah history of the ghosts floating around the city. I probably will not be able to sleep tonight knowing there a gazillion skeletons buried under my hotel. It was a creepy but pretty cool tour. I highly recommend it!! read more

Driver parked a half block away from our pick up point with the car lights off. Took 15 minutes of walking around to find the car and start the tour. 15 minutes we paid for and reduced from our total tour time. Guide asked where we wanted to go versus having a well planned out tour. He was very monotone with almost no personality or excitement to his stories. Would drive sometimes for several minutes with no commentary. Seemed more interested in ending the tour at 9:15 and going home than actually giving our group a memorable and positive experience. Was not remotely worth the nearly $250 or our time to be driven around for 60 minutes on a 75 minute tour with a driver that really didn't want to be there. read more

Was one of the worst experiences we have had on this tour. Could not understand half of what our guide was saying.did not hit on any of the I treating Savannah history. The museum was a waste of time. We went in circles looking at buildings that had zero hauntings at them. We took the public tour with Tim. He was very entertaining and knowledgeable with his ghost tales. We especially enjoyed when he would stop outside a building to share the stories and showed us the photos of alleged ghosts in the windows. On the day of the tour, he texted me with the additional details. Prior to the tour, he called to let me know he was on the way and would arrive in a few minutes. So arrived in Savannah today and the first thing I wanted to do was a hearse ghost tour. They don't have a place to physically get tickets except to call. Call I did and no answer at 7:12pm on a Friday. I was welcomed with a voicemail to leave my name and number and which time (10pm) and they would call back to make arrangements. It's now 9:57pm. This was a fun, kitschy, tour. The hearse is authentic and a fun mode of transportation. It was pleasantly warm, so the open air accommodations were perfect. The price, 20 dollars per person, was reasonable. Our particular hearse sat eight people, so no fear of large groups. The seats are close together and the space is cramped, so large or tall people may not find this activity ideal. Peg Leg Ron was very nice and entertaining, but he is not for everyone. He will tell you, he can get to speaking fast, and for some, he may be difficult to understand. I was hoping for a little more in depth haunted history, but this was like a crash course. We had taken a walking tour earlier in the day and the guide there explained things a little more clearly and in-depth. Regardless, I don't regret taking this tour. It's intimate, entertaining, the guide was very nice, and we got to see a lot of the city. And it was also entertaining watching people on the street react to the hearse. Additionally, they do have a little museum they take you to. Just a note, if you're wanting something serious and in-depth, I would consider scheduling a private tour with another company. read more

First things first: get "Peg Leg Ron." I kid you not, his name is Peg Leg Ron, and if you can request him when you call to make your reservation for the ghost tour do it! I was in Savannah over the past weekend, and while doing the whole "tourist-schtick," decided a ghost tour in a hearse in arguable one of the most haunted cities in America was a must. Trip Advisor turned me on to it, and it was not wrong. Peg Leg Ron picked us up in front of our hotel at 9 PM for an hour and a half tour of Old Savannah. The hearses that make this tour stand out are modified so the eight passengers can lean on the sides of the hearse's original roof, and the roof's raised above them with the option to put down plastic flaps during inclement or cold weather. Since the weather was very mild for February when we took the tour, we left the flaps up for a clearer view of everything. So Ron had my party of three riding with another party of five (who had a good deal more beers - one girl was actually carrying refills in her purse, honest to God) in the top of his hearse. The tour consisted of him driving us through squares where hangings, duels or other unsavory acts had been happened, past famous homes and establishments where murders had taken place or ghosts had been spied, and telling us stories of haunted manses, graveyards created and defiled during the Civil War, insane asylums where all kinds of experiments were performed, and other generally creepy and gruesome pieces of Savannah's past. Let's just say that by the end of the tour, I was glad I live in Atlanta and not Savannah - a little too much grisly history there for my liking, thanks very much. We had a good time - Ron is an excellent driver and story teller - he really knew a ton about the history of the town and was able to make it come to life as we toured all over. I learned a lot and had fun waving at the other hearse tours trolling around as well as the walking ghost tours. The only fly in the ointment that evening was the party we were riding with. As I mentioned earlier, they'd obviously been pre-gaming for a while gearing up for the tour and one of the girls had pre-gamed a little too hard. She just got obnoxious, saying multiple times during the evening (in what she considered was a creepy voice), "Ooooh, ghosts!!" Trying to hear Peg Leg's gruesome tales over her prattling was an effort sometimes. Other than that though - I had a great time. Definitely worth doing, and the best way is in the dark - makes it much creepier after sunset. read more

I first did the hearse ghost tour in Savannah in 2005. Yes, that's right. I said a hearse. Got a problem with that? My friends and I had a blast in 2005! Our tour guide was terrific, spooky, and funny. He was a great storyteller as well. And riding in a reconditioned hearse made it all that more fun. This past visit (2009), I wanted to recreate the fun and excitement. Unfortunately, that didn't happen. It was difficult to hear the tour guide, he didn't take us down River Street (like I had before and we saw other hearses take earlier that evening), and he drove us far out of town to Bonaventure Cemetery knowing it wasn't even open, wasting about half an hour of our tour time with drive time. read more
