Morning Drink- (The 'E1'): Peanut Butter/Bananas/Vegan Protein Powder & Almond Milk

Healthy Fresh has been on an expansion spree, and for good reason. To add, this Healthy Fresh is identical (almost) to their Morris Park location. Part of the reason why I like Healthy Fresh is because they have a wide-ranging menu that covers fresh Produce and Veggies for all your Fresh Pressed Juice and Smoothie needs. Plus they also offer Salads with several meat or cheese proteins to choose from. Healthy Fresh's E. Tremont & Bruckner Expwy corner location is no doubt chaotic in the p.m. But on a low-key morning, parking up front shouldn't be a problem- then again, I parked right at the bus stop with one eye on my back and the other scoping out the Smoothie menu to avoid the meter maid. Anyhow...Throggs Neck doesn't have an endless list of fresh-pressed Juices+Smoothies+ Salad places on the strip. And aside from Juices For Life (which I dig too) those guys are straight up drinks with no meals. My Plant-Based Smoothie gave me a nice boost and I didn't mind coming here at the crack of dawn.

Create your own salad. Super fresh ingredients and great portions.

Love HealthyFresh and their portions, fresh ingredients and services. The work stations are always clean and the workers are very hard working and kind.

I was a big fan until recently. Wraps are smaller and prices are higher. Last time I ordered, the wrap was soggy.

The only possible inconvenience I can foresee is parking if you're not one of God's favorites. Other than that the music's good, foods great, the temperature is accommodating. Enjoy.

The service was also top tier. The staff was attentive, friendly, and made sure we were taken care of the entire time, which I really appreciated for a special occasion. As for the food, it was just okay. My steak had a bit more fat than I would've liked, and while it was still decent, it didn't fully meet my expectations. The drinks were on the sweeter side, which may be a plus for some, but weren't really my preference. My friends and family felt pretty similar--everyone said their food was okay, nothing bad, but nothing that really stood out. Overall, it's a cute spot with great service, but the food could definitely be better. I'd still consider going back for the vibe and maybe trying different menu items.

They're obviously famous for their steaks, but for the first time ever, we actually skipped the red meat because we were just craving other things--and honestly, the kitchen killed it. The Atmosphere & Energy1 We got there for an early dinner around 5:30 PM. It wasn't super crowded yet, but it still had a great energy with plenty of people there for happy hour. By the time we left, though, the place was totally filled up with couples and families, and the bar downstairs was absolutely packed. We love a good, lively ambiance, and that buzz in the room made the whole night feel like an event. The Views- We were sitting on the top floor, and even on a gray, misty Friday at dusk, the views of Van Cortlandt were so nice. There's something really relaxing about just watching the world pass by outside while you're tucked away with a good meal and a great crowd. The Food- The Swordfish was perfect--super fresh, meaty, and seasoned just right. It's a solid move if you want something heavy-hitting but not as intense as a ribeye. The Mac & Cheese is total comfort food (rich, creamy, with that golden crust), and the loaded baked potato was huge and hit the spot. Also, don't skip the bread basket--they serve it warmed up with soft butter, which is such a nice touch. The Service- The hospitality really made the night. We had great service tonight; the staff was on point and made our return visit feel special. Service was exceptional, and they made sure everything was smooth from start to finish. Such a great Friday night spot!

When I arrived the entire lower level was empty. When I found them, they were halfway up a steep 4 flights of stairs despite my uncle requiring a walker and my grandmother a cane-the hostess had apparently told them they must sit upstairs as the lower level was 'reserved'. Not only did they make no gesture to accommodate them in any other way, this is an EXTREME ADA violation, and could have very well been a lawsuit. The manager, Jimmy, sat and watched as both my grandmother and great uncle struggled to take the stairs, no hand of assistance. When I approached him, I was told 'what's the big deal, so you had to take some stairs'. I told him my uncle fell last year and was hospitalized for 6 months, if you see someone in a walker, why would you do this? His response 'I don't know what you want me to do, buy you a drink?'. Not only was their overall service awful and food barely edible, this is one of the most unaccommodating, disrespectful, and genuinely unsafe establishments I've ever been to.

We ordered the porterhouse, creamed spinach, calamari, baked clams, the jumbo baked potato, and some pasta. The porterhouse was perfectly seasoned, and it was enough for three people to share. Whatever sauce the baked clams were doused in, I need that recipe. I used the complementary bread to soak up some of that juice and it was amazing. Their espresso martinis were also really good and strong. The only thing I did not like was the jumbo baked potato. It just felt like there was Velveeta cheese slathered on top, so if there's an item I would pass on, it would be this one. Just get regular mashed potatoes. The service was amazing. The owner came out to meet with us multiple times. Our waiters were very attentive and gave us ample time to order. They literally cut our meat and served it for us. The ambience was really nice. It's your usual steakhouse joint, with dim lighting. However, the best part about this dinner was that they seated us in a private room with one other party. It was very intimate and nice and I don't think I could've asked for better service. The cherry on top was that they came out with limoncello shots to end the night. If you're in the Westchester area, please definitely come check this place out. It is worth the money, time, and effort. You will not be disappointed.

For the table, we had the blueberry cornbread, garlic bread, and buttermilk biscuits. The cornbread and garlic bread were really good and a great way to start. I also had a cup of chili as an appetizer, which was awesome, full of flavor and hit the spot. For my main, I went with the brisket & shrimp combo with two sides ($29.95). The brisket was easily my favorite--tender, flavorful, and cooked just right. I'd definitely come back just for that alone. The shrimp with tartar sauce was solid too. I chose mac and cheese and collard greens as my sides, the greens were okay, but the mac and cheese tasted a bit like it came out of a box, so I'd probably skip that next time. It also came with coleslaw and a pickle, the pickle was actually really good. I didn't try the coleslaw, but my mother said it wasn't bad. We also ordered the 3-meat combo ($34.95) with chicken, sausage, and ribs, plus mac and onion rings. The ribs were really good, fell right off the bone, and the sausage was solid too. The chicken didn't have much flavor, but the onion rings were crispy and well done. Again, it came with coleslaw and a pickle. They even brought out rice for the table, which we didn't order but definitely appreciated, it was a nice extra and tasted pretty good. Dessert was ice cream and coffee, which was a nice, simple way to end the meal. For about $70 total, the value was hard to beat, and we even had leftovers that still tasted good the next day. Service was excellent throughout, which made the experience even better. I'd give it 5 stars, but the mac and cheese and chicken brought it down just a bit. Still, I'd definitely come back, especially for that brisket.

We went early in the week so there were no weekend crowds to deal with. The venue was clean and bbq/country themed. I was a bit intrigued to try this place as city island and Sammy's fish box (which is across the street) is notorious for its delicious and large portioned seafood dishes. This restaurant is affiliated with Sammy's fish box however the menu is unique and specific to bbq and not necessarily seafood. The waiters were very friendly and helpful when choosing items off the menu. The venue has a full service bar and an extensive drink menu. Items are a bit pricey but not uncommon for city island. We were provided with a basket of warm garlic bread, biscuits and cornbread w/ butter. The garlic bread was good everything else was a bit standard and didn't really stand out. We ordered baked clams as an appetizer which were a bit dry. We tried a cocktail which was good although a bit strong. We ordered the bbq platter for 2 and were pleasantly surprised to see how large the portions were. The platter offered various items which included ribs, brisket, chicken and smoked chicken sausage. All the meats were cooked well and were falling off the bone tender. However, the bbq sauce was a bit unappealing and tasted like a combo of ketchup and hot sauce. The platter came with 3 sides of your choice. We went for the classics, Mac & cheese, candied yams and the Boston baked beans. The Mac and cheese was a complete disappointment and tasted like flour. The candied yams and beans were good. The yellow rice was flavorful. I'm glad I got to try this restaurant however I realized that I will probably stick to seafood when coming to city island.

Before I could even speak with the bartender, a man who later appeared to be the manager immediately approached me in a rude and confrontational manner about seats at the bar that had drinks sitting there but no people present. I calmly explained that I only needed a place to sit briefly while ordering and that I would gladly move once the guests returned. What made the situation extremely uncomfortable was that he repeatedly tapped me while speaking to me. I politely told him to stop touching me because it was inappropriate and intimidating. Instead of handling the situation professionally, he became louder and increasingly disrespectful. If this person was truly the manager, his behavior reflected a complete lack of professionalism, customer service, and respect especially toward a woman who was simply trying to order food and enjoy a family event peacefully. Managers are supposed to de-escalate situations, introduce themselves professionally, and treat guests with courtesy. Unfortunately, that was not my experience here at all. The atmosphere and overall experience left such a negative impression on me that I would never personally return or spend my money there again. The only reason I stayed briefly was because my cousin encouraged me not to leave during our family celebration. I frequent many upscale establishments throughout New York and New Jersey and have encountered countless managers and hospitality professionals over the years. This experience stood out for all the wrong reasons. Respect and professionalism cost nothing, and unfortunately, neither was shown that evening.

But we are huge fans of the Peter Luger steak sauce & we had visitors, so why not visit this iconic steak house which is conveniently not located in NYC proper? We arrived a little early for dinner, so the restaurant wasn't crowded at all. They had us sit for a second at the bar lounge while a table was being assigned to us. The ambiance really plays up the heritage of the Peter Luger brand. We were seated towards the very back of the restaurant. I really liked the area since it was not too dimly lit. We started with the breads and wedge salad. I love carbs, and I liked that the breads were a little heavily seasoned. Caraway seeds are not for everyone, but they are for me. The butter was not very flavorful or soft, but I guess that's being too picky for free bread and butter before the meal. I chose the wedge salad because I knew I'd want crisp lettuce with my steak & also this salad comes topped with chopped bacon. The same thick bacon that people order on the side! It felt like a two-for-one dish. I enjoyed both the bacon and the lettuce smothered in blue cheese. The bacon really was nicely cured. We got the steak for two, which came on a sizzling plate precut. We did ask for medium-- not my preference-- because my guests didn't really enjoy eating meat not browned up all the way through. However, the steak came out closer to medium-rare. Initially, the plate was hot enough for us to try to sear the pieces. However, I found that the plate cooled much more quickly than I thought. The flavor of the meat was very prominent and the seasoning was well executed. Creamed spinach was a bit of a disappointment. It just didn't really taste like anything except a little muddy in aftertaste. The onion and tomato were nice, thick slices that helped cut through the richness of the steak. I did write on the reservation that my guests were celebrating a wedding anniversary, and they brought out some whipped cream and chocolate even though we declined dessert! Always such a lovely touch.
