I attended a family celebration at this steakhouse over the weekend for my aunt's 70th birthday. My family had reserved a large table, and when I arrived, there wasn't an available seat yet. I simply went to the bar area intending to order food and a drink while waiting. Before I could even speak with the bartender, a man who later appeared to be the manager immediately approached me in a rude and confrontational manner about seats at the bar that had drinks sitting there but no people present. I calmly explained that I only needed a place to sit briefly while ordering and that I would gladly move once the guests returned. What made the situation extremely uncomfortable was that he repeatedly tapped me while speaking to me. I politely told him to stop touching me because it was inappropriate and intimidating. Instead of handling the situation professionally, he became louder and increasingly disrespectful. If this person was truly the manager, his behavior reflected a complete lack of professionalism, customer service, and respect especially toward a woman who was simply trying to order food and enjoy a family event peacefully. Managers are supposed to de-escalate situations, introduce themselves professionally, and treat guests with courtesy. Unfortunately, that was not my experience here at all. The atmosphere and overall experience left such a negative impression on me that I would never personally return or spend my money there again. The only reason I stayed briefly was because my cousin encouraged me not to leave during our family celebration. I frequent many upscale establishments throughout New York and New Jersey and have encountered countless managers and hospitality professionals over the years. Willie's is really hit or miss. We ordered from here a few times now and the first time, the bistec encebollado (steak & onions) was Amazing. tender, and yummy. But it's been more misses than hits ever since that first order: My last 2 orders were big disappointments. the chicharron de pollo is just ok, dry and bland. The rice is another hit or miss. you may get some hard dry rice left over from earlier in the day or some fresh soft rice. I have no idea why there's such a large difference of quality on some days. Last night we ordered the bistec and the pork chops. The broiled pork chops were just too huge. they end up being flavorless and hard to chew. The bistec was hard. the rice was weird, we ordered arroz con gandules and it looked like they took some white rice and mixed in some beans. I'm not sure if we'll be ordering from here again with so many other spots in the area to try that are much cheaper with more consistent quality. I came here with my husband, MIL, and daughter. My MIL was visiting from LI for the weekend. She's been missing her Latin cuisine so this was a huge treat for her. They had live music and there was a good turnout with patrons. It felt like a party. Service was decent. We didn't have to wait long for anything. The food was not the greatest and for that reason I probably wouldn't be coming back. I had their churrasco with yellow rice. It tasted ok but I was not feeling well the following two days, so I question the quality/storage of their proteins. I asked for medium and received medium-rare. I should have asked for them to cook it more but if I sent it back to the kitchen, I would not want to eat it after that. I know for sure that my dish was the cause of my stich issues the following day because I shared my leftovers with my son, and he also woke up with abdominal pain and nausea. Hubby had their mofongo with steak and he was happy. The meat was cooked more thoroughly. His mom had some pasteles with rice & beans, and she liked it. My Little had their fried shrimp but they were a bit too tough for her to eat - she has some wiggly teeth that are bothering her. On the positive side, the music was great and the dancing was amazing. It was a vibe and although this is not particularly my cup of tea when it comes to venues, I would not be opposed to coming back so my MIL could enjoy herself, but I would not be eating anything. read more

I ordered a sirloin steak with rice and beans because I love supporting Latino-owned restaurants, but unfortunately my experience was extremely disappointing. The steak was rubbery, covered in sauce, and in the restaurant's very dim lighting it was difficult to tell the quality of the meat. Once I got home and saw it under proper lighting, the meat appeared dark, old, and very unappetizing. The rice also had a gritty, sandy texture, as if it hadn't been properly washed. Overall, the meal was unacceptable and raised serious concerns for me about food quality and safety. I contacted the health department regarding my experience. The food was mediocre & the bartender definitely needs to learn how to make drinks. This place is an old school Puerto Rican restaurant/club in the Westchester Bronx area. As soon as I entered live band playing old time Latin music bought back memories of the songs my mom and dad would listen to. The crowd was amazing like a family environment everyone knew everyone hugs kisses familia vibes. Smiles from everyone made me feel at home -conversation going on all around-dancing all around. I went back to my old stomping grounds yesterday to enjoy some salsa and good Spanish food. It's been quite a while since I've been back, but I used to party in this neighborhood including Willie's and a few other spots back in the day. Upon entering the place I was greeted so warmly it felt like I'd never left. The people were so friendly and happy to see me that I felt right at home. The crowd is a mix of young and old but the old timers enjoy themselves as much as the younger ones. They love to dance. I enjoyed some good drinks and some apps and celebrated a good friend's birthday. This place makes some great food, the steak in the platanos rellenos was so tender and flavorful I couldn't stop eating them. Parking in the Bronx is tough but I think the police know this place so well they don't bother the cars doubled parked in front of the restaurant. We found a spot right at the door and got in and out without a hitch. A great night in the Bronx. read more

I recently saw WSH on instagram and recognized this place as somewhere I have been years ago. I went there with my family on a Saturday at about 5-6pm. I was disappointed, the place was practically empty and very quiet. No ambiance, opposite of how it was portrayed on instagram. They didn't even have any music playing. DJ was setting up by the time we were finished eating and ready to go. Saturday is a day that things should be popping at anytime. Despite the disappointment the food was actually good and tasty. It's still a hotspot and after a couple of decades, that area, paved the way for a few decent restaurants- one of them being Willie's Steak House. Under the L in Parkchester (Westchester & Thieriot Aves.- to be exact), still remains (a) the place to be seen, (b) see people you may haven't seen and (c) run into people that you may have gone to High School or hung out with eons ago. For Parkchester standards, Willie's is "fancy". The Man and I had an errand in the area and felt like having some Latin Caribbean food. Willie's was very quiet for a Thursday, but Salsa music was playing and fortunately, kicked up the mood. Our server was pleasant and brought out the menus only to notice Seafood options, outweighed the Steak- and worked to my advantage- but isn't this a Steakhouse? Mr. Man kind of questioned that, as there were all but 5 "Steak" dishes. He knew the food would be hearty and because this is a Puerto Rican restaurant, Mr. Man wanted to play it safe and ordered the Pork Chops instead- which he raved. My Camarones Enchilados (Deviled Shrimp), had the right amount of seasonings and my Tostones, were freshly fried. Full Bar but no extended cocktail menu- except for Red or White Sangria and Wine. First off the food was good but what killed the entire vibe was how they overcharged me and still had the audacity to say it was because of the tax, when I got home and did the math it still didn't make sense. This was BY FAR the worst dining experience I've ever had. Calamari was spongey, mofongo was rock hard and tasteless, and worst of all the steak. We ordered medium and it came out burned to a crisp, sent it back and go a spongey pile of scrap meat with pink in the middle. This is a steak house, how do you advertise as a steak house and make the worst quality of meat and preparation in NYC? This isn't a cheap spot either, dinner for 2 with tip was $200. I think these other reviews are friends and family trying to support, I NEVER complain or leave reviews but this place needs some serious work it's a rip off for garbage. First time here, looks grand outside but once you pass the doors, it got so much history that locals appreciate. My friends were reminiscing on the first time and many other dates they had here. I was imagining how things changed from then and now. Dining room was a decent size, crowds of people dancing up along side a long wall. From what I was told wasn't there in the past. Came here with my family on a Sunday night and received great food and service. Though I was initially a bit skeptical due to the yelp reviews, I had a really positive experience! We came at a time where it wasn't quite busy so the service was really friendly. Upon arriving and after being seated, you receive some warm garlic bread. It was toasty yet fluffy on the inside, so I really liked that touch. The menu was average length on the shorter side, which I personally prefer because long menus overwhelm me. For our appetizer, my parents and I ordered the stuffed plantains with shrimp. It was very delicious but lacked salt. As for our entree, my mom had the churrasco, my dad had the sirloin and I opted for the filet mignon. We all ordered it medium well and had mashed potatoes on the side. Each steak entree comes with a free side and side salad. Ordering an extra side is an addition $5. My mom ordered rice and beans on the side that was average, nothing brag worthy. We all ended up loving our food! I personally liked my filet mignon the best, but everyone's food was delicious regardless. The quality of the meat was superb and the sides were equally amazing. The only thing I had a problem with regarding my food though was that it was too small. The size of the filet mignon compared to the rest of the steaks was disproportionately smaller. Funny story everyone. Today I walk into williessteakhouse at 1832 Westchester Ave, The Bronx, NY 10472 for their annual pre-Christmas party. I'm not there 5 minutes when the owner, the short Ecuadorian lady with the very serious face, pulls me aside and confronts me about the post I uploaded last week regarding the sub-par food and terrible service at that place. And I will clarify now that I still believe all of these things. I confirmed that I was the one who uploaded the post, and she asked why I didn't go to her personally to complain about the food and the service. I kindly reminded her that I did go to her on numerous occasions to complain about her waiting staff who are extremely rude, unfriendly, and dismissive. I also reminded her that she responded to my last complain by looking at me like I had ten heads and handing me a ginger ale, never apologizing for the rude service from her staff. The last time I complained because her waitresses were taking my drinks and dumping them before I even finished it. That night I had to get like 4 drinks within 1 hr because they kept taking my cup away while I danced. Another day the staff moved my coat from my table where I had my food and put it on another table because they were "setting up the table". How do you set up a table that is still being used? I don't go in there and pay for food and drinks with monopoly money. She claimed that I was the first person to ever complain about the service in her restaurant. She then told me that since I don't like the food in her restaurant and I think her staff is so bad, NOT TO COME BACK. THE LADY KICKED ME OUT OF WILLIES! SHE KICKED ME OUT FOR EXCERCISING MY 1ST AMMENDMENT RIGHT TO FREE SPEECH. I find that insane in such a liberal city like NYC. My post must have really struck a cord to her ego, to blacklist someone for rightly posting disgusting wilted tomatoes that your restaurant serves to people. We need to help her. We need to show her that she and her staff suck and they need to have better service skills. If it wasn't for the salsa events they have at Willie's no one would go there. Willie's Steakhouse is a very nice place to go to, especially on Fridays & Saturdays. Located in uptown Bronx under the #6 El Train amongst a variety of restaurants. The place is great not only for singles at the sports like bar but for couples dining out as well as families & large parties celebrating a special occasion. The place has ambiance good for formal dining but casual enough to drink at the bar, socialize & dance to the DJ's Latin music & disco on the weekends. The dance floor is located by the formal eating area. Willie's even has a garden in the back with tables & umbrellas where you can hang out. Willie's serves lunch & dinner, the staff is attentive & the food ranges from Latin bites to large & hearty proportioned plates to pastas & dessert with a Latin flair. The place is great to celebrate birthdays on the weekends because of the in-house DJ. You can call ahead to let them know that your celebrating but there are no reservations & seating is first come, first serve, but they'll do their best to accommodate you. First of all, it's dark as hell in there. Secondly, the busiest part about this place was the bar. Ive had the honor and privelege of going to this establishment several times. Each and everythime Ive had an amazing time until just a week ago. Friends and I were on our way in as a female unknown subject abruptly entered bypassing security not carded nor stopped as my party were in accordance to their standard operations procedure of proper identification. A member of my party made a comment of the unrully patrient to which security neglexted and allow the behaivior. Less than an hour of having what appeared to be a good time the security subject left his post to enter the establishment to send my party home. Noone was inibreaited unrully and paud for their oredered meals/drinks. It almost appreared that the unrully patrient was not an unrully customer but some what connected to the establishment. This is a family ole faithful! We love to come here, although it's all the way across town from my mom in Riverdale, it's a great place in the Bronx. Where else in the city can you get steak with platanos (fried green plantains) or maduros (fried sweet plantains)! Granted the steak is not prime, it's still flavorful. All the food is seasoned well and tasty. We love the porterhouse steak with onions and mushrooms (the gravy/sauce is killer), the Paella is my personal favorite ( I really don't like sharing it with anyone), and I love the house dressing on the simple garden salad. Great comfort food; you feel like your eating home cooked food at a friend's house. Don't feel like an outsider if you are not Latino, they welcome everyone here (we are Jamaican & American). It came with a vinaigrette type of sauce on the side which was good but nothing like the sauce at Bruckner's.
