As I get older the more I crave my ethnic food. Married to someone not my same race sometimes makes it difficult to eat out. We don't like the same food. I am so glad to find this hidden gem! Casual dining with authentic Chinese Malay Singaporean style cuisine. And the desserts are authentic too! I celebrated the year of the Horse with this Asian dessert!

Been wanting to try this place for awhile. They have really friendly service and a nice entry way to Malaysian-Chinese food fusion. We went with what they recommended and I enjoyed the chicken with ginger and the noodles was delicious as well. Place is somewhat small, but seems like several people got carry out, so I'm guessing that is their main business. Nice place to try if you never had Malaysian food before

A hole in a wall kind of place! But probably the best food in town. I never had Malaysian cuisine so I knew either i would never come back or this could be my go to place for the some awesome meal. Chef was brilliant in curating the curries (lamb curry was dope) and my fav was the mango dish Service was quick. Where the person taking our orders was able to talk on the recipes. Hell ya definitely coming back!

Amazing family owned joint! The owners are so sweet and the food is one of a kind. The menu is super extensive but we keep trying new things and everything has been delicious. The rendangs are all great and so are the curries. The Nasi Lemak is so good. We recently had their desserts and they were unique and tasty too. The owner really brings his unique flavors from his country which is such a blessing to be able to get access to!

All right, me and hubby were looking for a great little Malaysian spot and boy. Is this a hole in the wall! We were greeted by a very nice young man upon entry and boy. Did we notice that there was hardly any seating inside! We sat down. We were given menus that probably could have been wiped down a few times before we got to them and looked at a very tempting menu! We ordered roti paratha and char kuay Teow - and the flavor was spot on for both! I really enjoyed the food for sure-it appears they do a lot more takeout because the restaurant just doesn't have enough room for customers. But the biggest problem was seriously expensive and outrageously high service charge that was not noted on the menu before we ordered. Now I usually give a very nice 20% tip and did so here but when I looked at the printed receipt, I saw a mandatory service charge that was almost as much as the tip-I was a bit blown away! I will go again, but I won't tip if the service charge remains. That said? I will go again because the flavor was spot on, and my Malaysian friends would be satisfied eating there. I am that certain. If you want to try a nice flavor of Malaysian food? This is a great place to try.

I'm going to go ahead and give this place a 5 star review based on my single visit. I was going to wait until I've ordered here a few times to give a more comprehensive review of their dishes, but I'm going to guess that it's going to be all 5 stars anyway. I ordered an unusual choice I suppose, which was Malaysian style stir fried okra. I also had the crab meat egg drop soup. Everything was superb! "Tiny" doesn't begin to describe the interior. Plan on getting your food to go. When I was in there, the couple of tables were filled by a families with young children. I could sense that they were regulars here. It somehow endeared me more to this place, even after squeezing by, and around them to pay my bill and collect my food. The kind owner lady apologized for the small quarters, but at the same time, you could tell she was proud of her little spot here, and she's confident about the food she serves here. They offer a lot of authentic (based on Yelp reviewers more familiar with this cuisine) and inventive sounding choices. Although it's a 35 minute drive for me, I absolutely will be back!

Located in a strip mall off Dundee, this hole-in-the-wall has delicious Malaysian cuisine. I loved the Nasi Lemak (national dish with blue rice, egg, cucumber and chicken) and found that the Haianese Chicken with rice was very tasty. The blue rice is made from butterfly pea flower. My order was really easy to place and it was ready and warm for pick up. There's not a lot of dining space but many people I saw picked up carry out orders. The portions are generously sized and I'm excited to try other dishes on the menu. Service was friendly. Will return again.

This was the third time that I went to HD Cuisine for carryout orders. What made this pickup so special was that, Lin (one of the owners), who was busy helping in the kitchen at the time, came out to say Hi and thank me when her daughter told her that I was in! That made me feel very touched! This kind of hospitality is hard to find! There were two customers dining in at the time, and a third one standing at the door waiting for her order. I always ordered on the phone, and my orders were always ready when I went at the time that they promised. So, I suspected that the customer might have ordered at the restaurant, and hence had to wait. This time we still ordered the Penang Char Koay Teow with Shrimp (with no bean sprouts), which has become my favorite from HD Cuisine. We also ordered a Singapore Fried Noodles, and Chinese Pancakes with Beef. The Chinese Pancakes were fluffy and had light crispy skin, I enjoyed them very much. The other two dishes had "Wok Hei" that not many other carryout restaurants can offer! All the food was very tasty and flavorful. I am glad that I found this restaurant from Yelp!

I ordered a to go from HD Cuisine for lunch. Place is definitely small with only a few chairs inside and outside. The person taking my order was friendly and I believe he was also the one cooking my meal. I didn't have to wait long for my food. I got the Penang char koay teow with beef since it was suggest one of the most popular dish there. Yummy and flavorful. This place is definitely a hidden gem.

Wow, some of the best food that I've has in a long time! This is your little gem-hole in a wall- take out joint with amazing food. They have a few folding tables in and outside the restaurant, but most of their businesses is take out. They sell very delicious Malaysian/Penang. The staff is very friendly, although a bit limited. Indian Murtabak and Lentil Curry: Little pockets of a curried chicken mixture with delicious lentil curry to dip it in. Perfect Appetizer! Penang Char Koay Teow with Chicken: fresh ingredients with rice noodles! Malaysian Mee Goreng with Beef: yummy and flavourful noodle dish. Nasi Lamak with chicken rendang: so very flavorful! Savory, spicy, and crunchy. So so so good! I can't wait to come back to try more dishes!

I had been wanting to go to HD (Hawker Delight's) Cuisine for a while and just recently got a chance to check it out. I have had the type of pan-Asian food they serve here not only at a different restaurant in Chicago burbs but also, in Singapore. So, I was familiar with their type of cuisine. I did a dinner carry-out from here. I ordered their (C2) Malaysian Ayam Masak Merah which is a chicken in sauce dish that comes with rice, (N2) Filipino Fried Pancit Bihun which is a stir-fry noodles dish with some veggies & egg that I got with chicken, and (N11) Penang Hokkien Mee which is a noodles soup dish with shrimp, fish balls, pork slices, veggies, hard boiled egg in a shrimp flavored stock. I was informed that the order would be ready in 25 minutes when I placed the order and it indeed was ready in timely manner when I went to pick it up. The restaurant employee at the front counter helped me with taking plasticware and chopsticks. I received good service while paying and picking up my order. The restaurant itself is pretty small and the dining area is even smaller. So, dining in is not a good option unless you're flying solo or have just one additional person with you. And that too will only work if other patrons haven't already occupied the sitting area. During warm weather months, they do have some outdoor seating available. Let's talk about the food now. I really liked all the dishes I ordered. My top favorite was the noodles soup dish. That shrimp flavored stock of the soup was everything. It was aromatic, rich, and full of flavor. The noodles (a combo of yellow and rice) were properly cooked and it's taste along with the soup was just perfect for my liking. I couldn't get enough of it. Having it made spicy was a plus. Drinking the hot spicy soup was soul soothing. A bonus in that soup was fish balls which were not mentioned in the menu. This dish is highly recommended. My next favorite were the Pancit noodles. I hadn't had them in a while so, it was a logical choice and worth it for that matter. This dish was also well prepared and its flavor was pretty good. I liked the noodles texture and flavor that were stir fried with chicken, egg and veggies (cabbage, carrots, celery, onions). I had it made medium spicy and it came out good. Last but not least, the Ayam Masak dish was fairly decent. It's a semi saucy chicken (bone-in) dish prepared with chilies and spices in a chef special tomato sauce. I had it made medium spicy but should have gotten it spicy. It had a bit of sweet taste and I didn't care for the chicken being bone-in. The menu didn't clarify that. Overall, I had a good experience here with my take-out order. The food was delicious, prices were reasonable and I received good service. Their menu has a nice variety to choose from including beverages and desserts. Also, check out their specials of the day which are not on their carry-out menu. E.g., they have Hainanese Chicken and Rice and Cumin Lamb dishes. I would highly recommend checking out this restaurant.

Went by a second time and got a few new dishes to try. Malaysian Mee Goreng --this was super interesting. I could taste a bit of the Asian ketchup/tomato sauce in the flavor profile. Slightly sweet and sour. And savory. Kinda like Italian pasta with a major Asian spin and flavor profile. Had potato, fried tofu slides, peanuts/nuts? Eggs. Onion. Really flavorful. Slightly spicy but like 3/10 on spicy level, barely noticeable but the kids will. Beef Rendang-- this was super delicious. The curry paste flavor was strong and beef was very tender. Great over white rice and let the rice soak up the sauce. This reminds my husband of how his mom makes beef stew, which also had major Southeast Asian influence in the way she made it. This unfortunately was also a little bit too spicy for my kids, but it's perfect for us. Bo Bo Cha Cha-- had no idea what this dessert was, so thought to try it. I tried the chilled version after refrigerating and the heated version and liked both. The heated version surprisingly didn't taste sour, which is what you typically get with banana. The creaminess and sweetness really come through and I liked that the heated version the tapioca was also soft. Chilled version the tapioca was a bit too hard in its core. The dessert is actually pretty sweet, but it's like the Asian type or sweet, so it's not too sharp. They had all sorts of roots in it-- red sweet potato that's soft, taro, purple sweet potato which was kind of crunchy, etc. it was really pleasant, lots of flavors and textures. I probably will get a tub for holidays to share with family. Very unique!

I had ordered the Yang chow fried rice with brown rice substitute and the Char hor fun... the rice it was ok BUT I had drizzled the sauce from the Char hor fun on it and OMG the BEST FRIED RICE I EVER HAD! You guys should definitely think about making a dish of fried rice with the Char hor fun black bean sauce... it is to die for! Makes it so savory ... I had to stop eating and immediately write this review lol.. much love to the business for the customer service. read more

tl;dr - SO GOOD Having lived in Indonesia and Singapore, I was extremely excited to fine this restaurant while I happened to be in the area. The beef satay was by far the best I've had in the US, and the char kway teow was just as amazing. On top of that the owner, Lynn, was so nice and lovely as was her chef. I am looking forward to exploring more of the menu! read more

I have heard great things about this place from people that I respect their opinions. To me it was OK but not spectacular. I think it was what I ordered. Nothing was bad or even below average but not up to what I expected. I will try again paying more attention to what I order. read more

Best Malaysian fare in the Chicago area. Some of the highlights for us are the Nasi Lemak and the Char Kuey Teow. They just need to have an expanded dining area to accommodate the new business they must be winning over by word -of-mouth! read more

HD Cuisine is a great representation of a cuisine that isn't often found in the burbs. We have ordered delivery from here on about three occasions over the past 6 months or so as the location is a bit too far for us to drive to. The food has always been incredible with highlights being the Chinese pancake, curry puff, and char kway teow. The only downfall is that it seems like the online menu thru delivery service doesn't match what they offer at location, at location seems to have more options. I would absolutely continue ordering here regardless though, unique and delicious! read more

We chanced upon HD Delight while searching Yelp and have been totally delighted by its food and friendly people behind the food. Nice to have such a gem close to home for our Asian fix. It's a tiny shop with limited seating. However, one would very quickly you feel like they are family or long time friends who happen to serve delicious creations from the kitchen. Seems like a lot of other customers agree for they quickly become regulars there. There are too many wonderful dishes to try. Has not had a bad one yet. read more

We just discovered this Malaysian Restaurant recently, and are very happy to report that their Malaysian street food is great and authentic. We ordered 3 of our favorite dishes, the Satay, Char Kway Teow and the Beef Rendang. All of them were very tasty, exceed our expectation and the portion is good too. The staff is super friendly and service is fast. Needless to say, we will be back soon. This place is family owned and operated, so we really want them to succeed. read more

I am so glad a great Malaysian restaurant is in town especially with all available street food. We ordered Penang Curry Mee, Dry Wonton Mee and Penang Char Kui Teow and absolutely love it! The spices from curry dish unbelievable amazing! Mouth watering just writing about it. Truely authentic street food! I can see why everyone loves this place so much! I'd passed by it a few days ago, and was curious, but then I completely forgot about it until I came to Yelp last night, looking for new Chinese restaurants, and this place popped up. I almost didn't go after seeing the menu prices listed on Yelp's menu. Do NOT go by the menu prices here! They're listed at almost double the real prices if you call the restaurant directly, or go in and order in person. I've never had Malaysian food before, and based upon what I chose to order, I still don't think I have, but I do intend to go back and try some of the other dishes I was curious about, but afraid to order. I wound up ordering the Chinese pancake (beef filled), and the Wonton Noodle soup, and the broccoli with garlic sauce. While I was waiting for my order, there were two people at the long table with all kinds of different dishes. The owner (Lin) came out and started talking with me, explaining that the people were a journalist and photographer from a local magazine (I forget what magazine). All the dishes on the table looked amazing, and smelled equally so. Two of the dishes were ones I had considered ordering but shied away from. I will not be shying away from them again after seeing them in person and smelling them (the Indian Murtabak, and the Penang Hokkien Mee)! I also ordered the Milo (chocolate malt protein shake), but next time I want to try the Thai iced tea. Everything I did order was so good! The broth from the Wonton Noodle soup was rich in flavor, and the wontons were spicy, and the pork was a bit on the sweet side (it was bbq'd), and the veggies were bright green and crisp! The beef filled pancake was OK, I think I might have enjoyed the pork better (but please understand that there was nothing bad about it, it is just a personal choice that I think I would have liked the pork better), but I really REALLY want to try the Indian Murtabak next time because it sounds very interesting, and I really want to try the dal which is served with it. I didn't get to try the broccoli with garlic sauce, because I was stuffed after eating the pancakes and half of the soup, but I plan to have it for supper later, and I'm sure it will be excellent! So, if you've passed by this place, and wondered, stop wondering, and go in and try it! The place was jumping while I was there and it was only 12:30pm. If things keep up, I have a feeling they're going to need to rent the place next door too and make their restaurant bigger! I also noticed a sign after I ordered, advertising Bao. I wish I'd seen it before I ordered, because I love pork Bao! They had three types; Bbq pork bao, egg custard bao, and red bean bao. It looks like prior to Halloween they also had pumpkin bao, but it was crossed out on the sign, so it must have been a seasonal thing. Enjoy HD Cuisine! I know I will! read more

Upon using GPS to find this place I was pleased to discover that it was only a mile past Jimenez market which I shop at frequently. I went in and waited for someone to emerge from behind the curtain to take my order. On the wall was a sign that said chicken rendang. I have had beef rendang elsewhere and it was one of the finest dishes I ever tasted. Finally an employee came out , a young lass no older than 14. I asked if the chicken rendang was boneless, I don't like fumbling with bones in saucy dishes. She came out and said it had bones. So I ordered chicken Penang char koay teow. Ten minutes later the child brought my order. I was a bit disappointed in the small size of the container. However it turned out to be enough to fill my gut. It tasted so much like chow fun. I ordered it spicy and it had a small spicy kick. And also it had a bit of a fish taste to it. I could tell the noodles were freshly cooked. I thought it tasted pretty good but I was not blown away with it. I would definitely go back and order the beef rendang, a dish that is hard to find round these parts. read more

Today is the second time I tried HD Cuisine, I tried the Ayam Kicap (chicken with dark soy sauce) and it was really good, it exceeded my expectation! Generous portion. And of course I ordered char kuey tiow with shrimp and duck egg - always my favorite. I will come back to try different menu! read more

Absolutely wonderful carry out meal last night from here. We had the Beef Rendang, Indian Murtabak, tom yum soup, Kung Pao with Tofu, crab meat egg drop soup and a lychee smoothie with boba. Everything burst with amazing fresh flavors, and the leftovers this morning were equally as delicious. Can't wait to order from here again, this place is a gem! read more

Thanks to Yelp for this recommendation. Loved it. I bought dinner for tonight, and asked for a recommendation for something that would warm up well tomorrow. They recommended curry for tomorrow. In addition to my two dishes, I ordered a pork pancake. I guess they were not sure for when, because they wrote "do not microwave" on it. That was nice of them. read more

I ordered one thing. It was the rendang. A legit Malaysian restaurant would not mess up rendang. When I received my order it looked authentic. It had the deep rich brown color and the just the right amount of greasiness. The smell however was a weird. Smelled nothing like a real rendang dish you would get in Singapore, Malaysia or Singapore. Half of the beef was chunks of fat and ligaments. The gravy tasted off. The spice profile was just on a different tangent. I seldom leave bad reviews. But growing up in Singapore I would hate for people to think that HD was serving authentic rendang. It was nasty. Maybe try a different dish at this restaurant or try out rendang at a different Singaporean/Malaysian/ Indonesian restaurant. Good luck. read more

Very unethical.....check your bills/receipts....there is a 18% service charge included in the bill....when you pay your bill (if there are 2 people or more in your party) an additional 18% tip is automatically added to your bill...making your tip charge 36%!! Unheard of!! As for the food itself, I'd consider mediocre at best....Never going back...there are other Malaysian restaurants far better with ethical billing... read more

If you are from SE Asia, been there on holiday/business, loved the local food there, then you will love this place! I have now been there several times and can say the food there is as authentic as it gets. I particularly like Char Kway Teow and Nasi Lemak and the tastes are as I remember them in the hawker centers of Malaysia and Singapore. Lin (the owner) is from Malaysia and been in the Chicagoland area for about 30 years. It's a family affair in the kitchen and you can feel and taste the home cooking. The restaurant itself is small - nice in the summer where you can sit outside on folding tables and chairs. So don't go there expecting fine dining - but go there for the great food and hospitality! read more

Drove out of my to try this restaurant. The interior is very small but I still got great service. While waiting, there was a steady flow of pick-up costumers. This place is doing great business. I ordered the silken tofu with pork, which also included shrimp. It was delicious! This was the best Chinese food I've had in the NW suburbs, though I belief the chef and menu leans Southeast Asian. I have a feeling everything here is excellent. Will definitely be back. read more

My wife and I were looking at menus and noticed a Szechuan Fish with Spicy Bean Paste. Since she is from there, she wanted to try it. After tasting it, I noticed she got quiet and just kept eating till she finished the plate. Then she smiled and said it was just like her hometown. Stopped by for dessert after dinner nearby. Bo Bo Cha Cha is such a comforting and fragrant dessert. I also picked up an order of beef curry puffs which were so so yummy. I couldn't resist the homemade pineapple shortbread cookies. They melt in your mouth, and were such a delicious surprise. Really big menu full of good things surprises. I've never left a negative review on Yelp. After reading all these positive ones and as lovers of Asian food, we tried this restaurant. Of the 3 things we ordered, only one was good--the Tom Yum Seafood Soup. But of the others, the Malaysian Chicken Curry, ordered medium spicy, was bland, and was mostly boiled potatoes, and we could detect no spice at all. The Mee Goreng was almost gelatinous--the noodles were pasty and stuck together, and it bordered on inedible. These latter two were well recommended on the site. I've been well-served by Yelp reviews, but now I'll be more circumspect. read more

It was the first time that the owner came out to demand tip. The paying system is like a fast food. You order, pay, and then the foods served. There are tips options on the screen when you pay, you know what I say. I don't usually don't pay tips before the service because I pay tips depanding on that. The table was a portable folding table which was one that commonly you can find at warehouse store. I ate my food there like just fast food place and came out to the parking lot and a lady who looked like an owner followed me. She outwardly played that she asked an opinion about the service, but soon I thought that was not about the opinion because she didn't take any opinion and was just busy to make excuses. And when she asked me why don't pay the tips?, my answer was simple. It's because I don't pay tips before any service and there was not much service I got as well. The employees was just looking at their cell phones over the counter. And the owner asked me pay tips next time. Honestly, wtf. It was very unpleasant experience. The definition of a hole-in-the-wall!!! A hidden gem of Chicagoland that serves a very unique style of food. This is a niche restaurant that has a variety of yummy South East Asian foods that won't disappoint you. I am Malaysian, grew up visiting Penang & eating the food. I am so happy to finally have access to a place that sells Malaysian dishes I recommend the Hokkien mee, Beef Rendang and the Penang Char Kway Teow. The dish I added a picture of was also very good but I'm not sure if they still sell it (since it was on special at the time of my visit).
