BEST COMPUTER REPAIR TEAM IN ORANGE COUNTY! I spilled liquid on my Lenovo laptop, and after trying to dry it out and follow all the steps I read online, it still would not power on. I had hundreds of hours of work on the hard drive, that unfortunately, I did not have backed up. I had work that couldn't be replaced. I was frantic. To make matters worse, I was supposed to be leaving the country the very next day, and needed to get my work backed up to an external hard drive before I left the very next morning. So at 3:30PM, I went to HB computers, which closes at 6. Amir, the owner, greeted me and was eager to help. I told him my situation, and Amir was so kind and told me he would look at the hard drive right then and there since I was in a rush. His computer technician, Rudy, took my hard drive and started working immediately to see if they could salvage the hard drive. Initially, the outlook was bleak. But Amir and Rudy didn't give up. They kept trying until finally, they were able to restore 96% of my hard drive back to an external hard drive. I had my computer back before they closed at 6, that very SAME DAY! I've never been so impressed with customer service. These guys are seriously the best. And this is now the ONLY computer repair shop I will be giving my business to. I visited HB computers because I dropped my external hard drive and it broke. They have a fantastic policy of giving you a flat $399 charge for data recovery and a free diagnostic. Plus, no charge if the data recovery fails. I considered a lot of choices in the area and HB Computers by far had the fairest prices. Amir and his crew managed to recover 95% of my data, which is fantastic because I had about a decade's worth of photos, videos, and projects on it. They even expedited my service and looked at my drive right away without prompting because I told them how important it was to me. The staff was super helpful and professional, especially America who gave me updates via phone. The only reason this isn't a five star review is because when I stopped by the first time to ask questions and drop off my hard drive, Amir acted as if he didn't have time for me. He was overly frank and frustrated and made me feel guilty for asking questions about the price and process. I initially went to this place because of all the good reviews. I went in for a PC repair since I was too scared to do it myself. Coming in, I knew exactly what the problem was and told them exactly how to fix it. Amir was really nice and offered to buy the items that "needed" to be replaced if my plan didn't work. My issue with this place was that I felt like they didn't really try troubleshooting what was wrong with my PC and they just wanted to buy and replace the products which would, in the end, cost me $600 dollars when in actuality the repair costed $200 (which is still expensive as opposed to other places). The repair cost was $200 for screwing 6-7 screws (AT MOST). My solution was less labor intensive FOR THEM and less expensive. Another issue I had was while the tech was fixing my pc; he kept whining/complaining about screwing in and taking out the cpu.... it's 4 screws + it's your job. Replacing the motherboard AND putting in the cpu would've costed so much more labor so idk why he was complaining. My advice is to have your friends or use google/Reddit to look at ALL possible problems before having these people tell you that you NEED to replace your parts. PS, they didn't wear masks during working hours... EDIT: I went to check why my PC was hot 2 days after getting it back and it was because they never plugged back in my case fans. The only reason I'm giving them 2 stars is because Amir was very friendly and good with communication. Aside from that, I was very displeased with HB Computers. I brought my MacBook Pro in and was told it would take 5 business days for a diagnosis. They had my laptop for a full two weeks before telling me that I needed a new screen. I called a couple of times in between and each time they pushed back the time they would be able to tell me what was wrong with the laptop. Then they wanted to charge me $700 to replace the screen. I found a genuine apple screen replacement on amazon for $330 and my boyfriend did the repair himself in about an hour and a half. So essentially I was being charged almost $400 in labor for something that took a non-professional an hour and a half to do? I'm sure they receive parts at a much cheaper price, AND I'm sure the fix would have taken them considerably less time than someone inexperienced. I understand these are tough times, but that's a pretty steep rip off if you ask me. Not happy with my experience overall. read more

This place is awesome! I recently took two computers here. My primary computer was operating very slowly and freezing and so forth. I had an additional computer that I had never really used because it was a donation and when I received it, the space bar key stuck really badly. I wanted everything fixed and the new computer to basically be a mirror of the older one. AND THAT IS EXACTLY WHAT THEY DID! Plus, they kept me super informed about what was going on and what they were going to do before they did it and because I am a teacher, I received a 15% discount. STUDENTS AND TEACHERS GET A 15% DISCOUNT. They ended up telling me that they had to do a complete reinstallation of my older computer. The newer one needed the keyboard replaced WHICH THEY ACTUALLY HAD IN STOCK! No waiting for it to be ordered. When I got them both back, they were both set up for me. All settings and files were in place. All I had to do was reinstall some software on the older one, and they told me that if I had had the software and left it with them, they would have done that for me too! From the polite person at the front desk to the technicians who work on the computers, I can't say enough good things about this place. I brought my MacBookPro (Late 2011) in to replace the battery, get a new track pad, and adjust the optical drive so it'd work (I positioned it poorly when I reinstalled it). I was given an "out the door" quote over the phone by Amir as well as an estimated timeline. I walked in later that afternoon and introduced myself. I was expected. They had me fill out a form and told me they would update me with the timeline on the parts as soon as they heard from their supplier; it was around Thanksgiving, afterall. I received a phone call that same evening with the update for when I could expect it to be finished "at the earliest" and "at the latest." They fixed it in just a few days. Here's the thing: the optical drive wasn't just positioned incorrectly. It was dead. For the sake of customer service and, in my opinion, just plain kindness, they replaced it for me and honored the original "out the door" quote despite their added expense. If you're looking for somewhere new to fix your computer, give these guys a shot at helping you out. I'll be very surprised if they disappoint anybody. read more

Very honest and helpful. The first time I went with my kid's computer, Amir told me that it was still under the original warranty and suggested I call the computer company. I did that and the computer had more issues after the service under the warranty with the maker of the computer. I came back to HB Computers since I felt that Amir was trustworthy in his initial advisement since he was so honest and helpful the first time I came in. The rarest thing to find these days is an honest business. HB Computers is just such a business. Though the shop is small, it's located near the busy intersection of Warner and Beach in Huntington Beach (hence HB), just South of Warner; very easy to find. I went there when my laptop stopped working, after first trying Best Buy. "Geek Squad" told me they'd charge me $300 just to open the computer if it turned out to be a mother board problem, and couldn't tell me, based on what I told them whether it was. Best Buy made it seem hopeless, and then talked me into buying a $143 new laptop, telling me they'd transfer over all of my old files. What they /didn't/ tell me was that they charged $100 for that. The thing is, my gut told me that my original laptop's problem was so minor (the power cable just seemed to be loose), I shouldn't shake the feeling that it wasn't a lost cause, and like many of us, I had everything set up just the way I liked, with antivirus software and ad blockers and whatnot. I did some research online and found that HB Computers happened to be near my job. I walked over after work and told them what the issue was. They busted out some of their own battery chargers on hand, and concluded that I just needed to replace mine. Total charge for the consult? Nothing. When I told them what Best Buy had told me, they said "yeah. That's 'Geek Squad' for you." The store is clean, like a small jewelry store, in a small plaza with plenty of free parking. Because I ultimately ended up buying my new power supply from Wal-Mart, I feel guilty that I didn't end up getting anything from them. I've been told my writing is halfway decent however, so I figured I'd drop them a good review. If you need your computer fixed, let "Geek Squad" be your LAST choice kids, as "Best Buy" sold me this defective laptop in the first place, two years ago, and sold me some overpriced warranty that conveniently never came up in conversation. Though I obviously can't guarantee HB Computers can fix your problem, I can say that they will give you honest solutions without ripping you off and sadly, in this day and age, that's worth far more than than most computers.
