I had an extremely disappointing experience with this business. I brought my MacBook in for a $90 diagnostic on Thursday after being told it would be ready the following day. Instead, I was repeatedly told it would be ready "tomorrow"--first Friday, then Monday, then Tuesday. After nearly a week with no answers, I had to return and insist on getting my computer back because they still had not completed the diagnostic. Despite keeping my laptop for almost seven days, they provided no diagnostic whatsoever and refused to refund the $90 diagnostic fee. I essentially paid $90 for them to hold onto my computer without performing the service I paid for. To make matters worse, when my MacBook was finally returned, I discovered a large dent on the back that was not there when I dropped it off. The communication was poor, the customer service was unacceptable, and I left feeling completely taken advantage of. I will be filing complaints with the Better Business Bureau and the appropriate Orange County consumer protection agencies regarding my experience. I would strongly encourage anyone considering this business to think carefully before leaving their computer here. My experience was that they kept my laptop for nearly a week, failed to provide the diagnostic I paid for, refused to refund my money, and returned my computer in worse physical condition than when I dropped it off. read more

I wonder who has my old hard drive with my personal financial data??? They replaced my hard drive as part of fixing my computer. The old hard drive they gave me when I picked up my computer is someone elses??? The original drive that came with my computer was 1 TB. The old hard drive they gave me is 2 TBs. When I brought the drive back to have them copy another folder for me they said they couldn't find it. I told them I think they may have originally given me the wrong old drive. They wouldn't believe me. Then when I got home I found out that the old drive they gave me was a 2 TB drive. My original old one was only 1 TB. read more

We took our computer in for 1) repair of an app and 2) retrieving some files. We paid the $70 charge just to look at it. They said three days max to have answer. Over a week later we get a call that they did not fix either request (0 for 2) but offered a used computer for $500. No thanks, not them. Then my elderly mom picked up her computer and what appeared to be theatrics (harassment?) Computer was freezing every time I loaded a specific game. I told them exactly what was happening. They charged me $200+ to diagnose and update the computer but they never tested the PC to check and see if they could re create the issue I was having. I got the PC back and it wasn't working again. Gave it back to them and it worked in their shop. I found out at home that it was software with my steel case headset that was making the game freeze. I would plug in the headset and it would freeze the game. They should have tested the computer when they got it and they would not have had to update the bios and reinstall windows which would have saved me hundreds of dollars. Saying all that, they were nice and attentive but they need to rethink their troubleshooting process to save their customers time and money. read more

I have a personal computer that I've had about 4 years. I like it for what I use it for. I'm not a gamer. Not a ton of videos or photography. Mostly Excel files, Word documents, etc. I just use it for household organization, personal finances, etc. The computer started going crazy. Blanking out on documents. Printers not being recognized. And then coming back again. And other sporadic things like a ghost was in the machine. And super slow. So it sure seemed likely I had viruses. I took my computer to HB. They are super nice. They checked it out. And sure enough viruses were creating most of the problems but my Hard Drive was apparently older technology and on its last legs. So the bottom line is they put in a new hard drive and cleaned up the viruses and now the computer is faster than when I bought it. And their price was 100% fair. No complaints whatsoever. This is where I will go back if I need more help in the future. And I found out they do security cameras and WiFi installs as well so that's good to know. Really liked these folks. My MacBook was not working a whole week. I want to fix my Mac but it was too expensive & I have bad experiences leaving my Mac to someone else. I see this place has a lot of good reviews & it also give 30 day warranty if a problem show up again. Karen & Jesus has to be the nicest people I had ever met. They reassured me that everything will be fine & they even gave me water right while I was waiting. I never been to a place where any technician treat me this nice. It was an absolute pleasure working with HB Computers to get my new laptop going. They were very helpful in finding a place to buy it, I needed 64 RAM and they didn't have one available at that time.
