After spending time, thinking I was creating more memory on my computer, I was naive enough to be prompted to call a number (in India, of course) Because this little Icon of a face with a phone wrapped around it's head would not go away from my screen. I called. This young man explained he was microsoft and would run diagnostics . Blah Blah Blah. Anywho. I was with him up until the $249.00 price tag was announced to remove the Phone headed icon. I then was given the reduced price of 169.00. Because I am under the weather. Finally having a moment of clarity. I hung up and remembered the great work that had been done on my PC before. This was taken care of by my brother who brought it to The Howard Brothers at Orange Coast Computers & Recycling. I got the information of where they were located and brought my PC to them. Dealing with some back issues they unloaded the tower for me and brought it into the shop. While talking to them. I did my confession of being naive and speaking to India. And what my concerns were, and what I use this PC for. I enjoyed my conversations and within 20 minutes my computer was restored to sanity. Not sure about my own, but my computer is perfect.. I cannot think of any other place I would consider for repair on my computer. When I'm ready to convert to a laptop. I'll be back to see Mike and Steve. My Computer Angels ... Our family has trusted Orange Coast Computers & Recycling for years now because they have always rescued us with our computers. This trip exceeded my expectations. I brought my laptop in that just died on me, the BAD news was it was too far gone to fix (again, they had already been able to patch it up many times for me). The GOOD news was they were able to rescue ALL of my files (I had not backed up for .... Actually ever...). The BETTER news is Michael worked really hard at picking me out another computer to fit my needs. He set me up with a refurbished laptop charging me only about a third of the value of it and downloaded all my files and sent me on my way with a smile on my face and a promise to him I'd start backing up my stuff. I've been to this place a couple of times for various things. The first was an ad they posted on Craig's List. They were selling refurbed mini-refrigerators from some hotel chain for 25 bucks a pop and a discount for buying 4. We bought 4 and three years later still have 3. If you buy one of their computers or other electronics, ask them if there is a warranty on the deal you're getting. We did and when one of the refrigerators broke, we never expected them to repair it for free. I took my Sony Vaio in for repair in the last week but called beforehand to get an estimate. They repaired my Vaio super timely and went by the quote they'd given me over the phone. $99 to open the computer and diagnose and cost of parts to repair ($30). They even took the data off an old and dead external hard drive and put it on the repaired computer for free. Great service, timely, honest. Highly recommended. read more

Mike and his staff are awesome! I had stopped in this afternoon for my first time because I knew I had small hardware issue with my laptop that could be solved rather quickly. Instead of charging me for a quick fix they personally lent me their tools to fix it there myself there since I had a decent idea of what I needed to do. If I had any questions they gladly stepped aside to answer them. Thanks to these gentlemen in a matter of 20-30 min my issue was solved and the laptop worked perfect. From my experience you can tell this shop is honest, knowledgeable and willing to help any way possible, even if that means allowing a college student to use their tools and expertise to fix a problem himself. I purchased an inexpensive desk top a few years ago from them,I was very happy with unit for on line bill pay and you tube karaoke...its nice to have a keyboard available when everything else is now a pad or a touchscreen.However the unit seem to start processing a bit slower than normal. I dropped it by and received excellent service on trouble shooting the unit and bringing it back up to speed. The fellas there were totally down to earth and didnt make me feel like I was out of the loop of knowledgeable technology.I thought my tune up would be about 80 bucks or so. Lets just say it was a fraction of that amount with a memory upgrade. Man I wish these guys were auto mechanics, with rappore like that they would get all my business. Went in here yesterday and it was a breath of fresh air. I've been to a few computer shops in the area and this place is different. Most shops you go into attempt to make you feel stupid and tell you how much they know....and remind you how much you don't. These guys are different. I went in looking for a simple, basic computer for my 65 year old father to be able to check email and print maps. They gave me a great deal for a simple Pentium 4 computer and we had a great conversation. I am an IT guy myself here in HB, and it was refreshing to not have to get in a war of the minds when they found out I do what they do. I have been going to Michael and Steve's store since I graduated high school in '07. I have had 2 custom builds with them, one laptop and one desktop that still run well and another refurbished laptop (my fist computer). My family also uses them as well for all of their general repair needs as well as they also have 2 custom builds, both being desktops. In total there are 8 computers in my household and it seems like one goes down every six months or so, so I am glad to have a store to go to that is both affordable and enjoyable to go into. The owners are great to talk with and, for the nostalgic types, they have a "museum" of old computers, cameras, and videogame systems on display. These guys rock! I first met Mike and Steve when I took an old laptop in to recycle. My son drpooed a coke on it and I had taken it to several other places and they said it was toast, it had been sitting around for a couple years in my closet. I was scared and very unsure of who I could trust after being taking for over a $1000.00. These guys are awesome!! Took my laptop in to have the fans replaced and Mike called to let me know they had just disconnected somehow, no repair or parts replacement was necessary. When I went to pick it up they had done all kinds of maintenance and it now runs better than ever! They could have charged me for the fans and repair work and I would never have known the difference, but it is nice to know that they are not only REALLY good at what they do, but they're also very trustworthy. Great team of tech experts. Reliable and honest service -- and they understand if you just make a dumb mistake. I got a laptop, and immediately messed it up with what is an otherwise reliable software running under Windows XP. Well, it this software does not play nice with Windows 7, and locked up the computer so it would not even complete boot-up. I brought the computer right back in, OCC diagnosed (and fixed) the problem the same day -- no charge even though it was my own stupidity for not having checked the software for compatibility. I just love these guys. They have been repairing by cheap old computer for years! Last week we had a power outage and it fried my power source.
