I had these guys reroof my house back in the 90's. Back then they had their own employee doing the work. When we needed a reroof, we called them again. MISTAKE!!! The crew that came out was a subcontractor and not direct employees of the company. Only one of the guys half spoke English, making communication difficult. They were messy and sloppy. They had to replace three facia boards. They put them on backward (rough side outside, smooth inside). They dropped one of the turbine vents off the roof and dented it. They damaged each one of our solar tube tops (I had to buy all new ones). While walking on the roof, they put holes in the existing wood. The underlayment was torn from them being careless but they slapped the shingles on over it anyway. I specifically asked them NOT to paint the vents on the roof and they did anyway. They also broke the a/c condensation drain. They left the a/c unit crooked and I had to have them back out to straighten it out. Unless you can find a company that has their own employees (not shoddy subcontractors) do not hire them. read more

Apparently Hays Roofing doesn't worry about getting jobs or speaking to people. I called and left a message. Didn't get a call back. I called a second time and left a message. I received a call back saying that 2 of our buildings were metal and one building they, "didn't want to bother with". Fact - I called for recoating for three business buildings that are all brick and mortar, including a fire station. Good work going to another company. Since 1971 re-roofing my house has been a family affair every 15-16 years. This year 2021 we opted to have it done. We requested bids from seven roofing companies and chose Hays Roofing,Inc. because they had been licensed the longest and was a family owned and operated company and that it would be done in one day. I should note that the the house is a small 2 B/R and the roof is 1/4 pitch and less than 8.5 sq. Got a call telling me they would be at the house at 7AM next day (they did arrive at 9:30) but that was not a problem for me. The crew they sent was 2 men and a foreman. The tear off was done the first day and the debris was both broomed and blown off with a leaf blower( I would not have expected that and am still picking up roofing pieces and nails from the yard). Some decking was replaced and one facia board (which was cut 1 1/2" too short. My son has now fixed that for me. The drip edge was installed on the south side of the house using four short pieces, overlapping less than the 2" I believe is required, one overlap was 1/8". After the tear off the underlayment was put down they left for the day. We went upon the roof to inspect the progress and right away we noticed at least six sharp objects under the underlayment, I hope they were not leftover nails lying on the roof. I addressed this with the foreman when they arrived the next day. I was told that since the underlayment was adhered to the deck it could not be pulled up but that he would "hammer them down". The top cap was put on that second day and they then left. My only concern now is about the sharp debris that remained under the underlayment that the foreman said he would "hammer them down" should they work up through the cap over time, that would be a real problem for me. I know the re-roof came with a good warranty but it has been my experience that a repair is NEVER as good as a job done right the first time. Marlene R. read more

Just had a fantastic experience with Jarrod Watson from Hays Roofing. After a heavy monsoon, a water spot developed on my ceiling and needed to determine what was going on and the fix needed. Jarrod showed up on time and got up to the 2nd story roof (on a 108 degree day no less!) over the area of my water spot. About 5 minutes later Jarrod came down and let me know the issue was all taken care of. Luckily it was just a few tiles that had come out of place during he storm and caused the water to wick underneath. Jarrod took photos and explained everything to me. When I asked him what I owed him for the repair he said payment wasn't necessary since it was a simple issue. Because of the hail storm that we had, we needed new shingles on our roof. We called Hays Roofing, Inc.and they came out in a very timely period and gave us an estimate for the roof. We had already had it checked by our insurance adjuster and we were paid by the insurance company. I thought Hays did an excellent job and were constantly in contact with us, until they could come out and do the roof. After the shingles were put on, one of the men from the company came out to make sure things were completed correctly and it was. They just did our roof- not the cheapest, but they very cautiously removed all of our tiles, replaced the wood under and did the roof. So far a few weeks and 118 degree weather, so no leaks, but they did no hire subs, which means they took a long time to do the work, but I hope they did it right. I developed a roof leak in December. Hays Roofing came out in a couple days, checked the roof and identified the likely area of the leak. They provided me an estimate the next day. Because the leak was under my HVAC unit, they coordinated with my AC contractor to disconnect remove and re-install the unit during the repair. I truly can't rate this company with even one star. For starters there was no warning from the company that they were going to begin replacing our roof. Instead of properly squaring off areas to discard unused or old materials, they simply just threw them off the roof into our backyard and the back alley area. We had a brand new canopy with a misting system and our garden was covered in debris and Roofing nails. On the front half of the house they were throwing tiles off of the roof to the area in front of our vehicles and our doors. There was blatant disregard for safety, courtesy and health. After leaving four messages on the answering machine for the business we finally spoke to someone at the office and the woman that was on the phone was very rude and evasive with me. I wouldn't suggest using this company unless the foreman was going to oversee the job to ensure that the safety issues that his team clearly doesn't understand are maintained. I can't say enough good things about Hays roofing. These guys were very fair priced but covered every detail that other higher priced roofing companies overlooked or wouldn't do. They also were able to work with my schedule which was difficult. My new detached garage needed to have matching roof tile to match the tile on the house, problem was the roof tile was obsolete. Lack of professional communication timeliness. Due to lack of response from Jarrod it cost me another $500 to close on house due to incomplete repairs. Had worked with Jarrod in the past to put on a new roof, did have 2 leaks after the new roof , which they fixed. Time to sell the house, the inspector had some problems with the 5 year old roof, considered it sloppy work, verified by an outside roofing consult. Jarrod generously offered to repair the part on warranty & a couple more items. About 90% of the repairs completed, even after I had given them the wrong closing date, but last 10 % - guys show up but had the wrong color, said would have it by noon. I come back, no one there, tried to contact Jarrod by phone and email without any response (we had discussed the need to be completed by Friday. Jarrod did contact me on Monday and wanted to setup the repairs, too late..inspection done. If i had been contacted on Friday i could have negotiated another response to the buyer. read more
