Couple of days ago the sales rep from Hawx knocked on my door and rang my door bell and knocked again. He was nice and friendly and started to tell us how a couple of our neighbors already signed up with them and since they will bring service here next day they will have special discounts and trying to see if anyone else wanted signup for the same day. First we were hesitant but the ants are attacking my kitchen and when he mentioned spiders we decided to agree. The salesman kept showing us the google page for the business and the rating of 4.5 stars. He gave us a good price and we signed the 12 month contract and he took the credit card info. He finally left. Hours later my husband looked them up on Yelp just to see reviews on here, since google reviews were very new and very similar to one another. Sure enough, our Yelpers are the best and tell the truth. I called the sales guy back and told him I feel very unsafe with all the stories I have read and we want out, he said that we had 3 days to pull out and when I repeated it to him with disbelief he said oh 30 days. Well I left it alone. Went back to the contract and there was no cancellation info what so ever. I called the guy back and asked to cancel. He said that cancellation email will be sent out. Just a side note while he kept on messing around with our appointment times 10-6, 7-6, 6-6 we got double the emails, but never gotten the cancellation one. He checked with me the next day and said he canceled it on his end but I still got no email. I went ahead and canceled the card that they were given. Better safe then sorry. You would think this is it. No! In our supposed time slot the technician came to our next door neighbor, first thing he did was open a passenger door and whole bunch of trash fell out- very nice, second our neighbor was very involved with the whole process and we don't have time or availability to watch every person that comes to our house, that's why we get real professionals. One last thing, I told the sales re that Yelp reviews of where I saw all the true colors for their company and some random review showed up yesterday from a person who listed to live in different state and it's same cookie cutter like the google reviews. Beware of these guys. 2 of them showed up on my doorstep on Memorial Day. I was mowing the back yard so they decided to hang around. Even rang the doorbell a few times to confirm I was still mowing. Lord to me saying their service would be cheaper than Aptive. It is not cheaper than what I was paying with Aptive. I decided to give them a try but regret it. Also they won't tell you you're signing a 12 month agreement. But since they email you, if you open the email, they say "there's nothing they can do". Shady practices. I've had to get a recall treatment and maybe I will need to do so every week until they let me out of my contract! read more

They came out a few days later and it was 45+ days later I called since they were supposed to come once a month. Two appointments were cancelled on their end. Then I tried to cancel my service and tried to get my cancellation fee waived due to their negligence and they tried to force me to reschedule. Then when I refused, they said it was my fault I didn't schedule my own appointments and use their website to do it. Then their billing told my wife the same thing. I got behind because of a separation in my marriage. I spoke with a Manager and he got my bill down to 150.00 a month and put me on a new billing cycle. Not one time did he tell me that they charge multiple late fees a month if you fall under some type of financial hardship and couldn't pay and even go back to your previous billing and charge even after you got put on a different billing cycle. I was only told to pay 150 and nothing about any prior bills. So that was a lie. I then spoke with someone else this month and now my account has been closed and I owe 533.00! Another thing the manager didn't tell me, this company has so many hidden fees that they don't tell you about, and as hard as things are with the inflation, they do not care one bit. This company feels slightly predatory. Should have been tipped off by the door-to-door method of getting customers, but I needed a pest treatment service so went for it. I had previously had another pest service and told the Sales Rep, Zeb, what I had paid for the service. He then explained that Hawx was only $50 and my house would be treated quarterly. What he failed to mention or didn't communicate clearly was it was $50/month so the $150/treatment actually came out to be more than I had paid the other company. Shady to sell something as cheaper because the greater cost is split across multiple payments. My fault for not reading the contract, but their fault for pushing a obtuse contract. Zeb at one point actually said, "you don't need to read that." That should have been my cue, but oh well. When I went to cancel, they rescinded their $200 "discount" which is actually just a punishment designed to prevent people from leaving. Probably wouldn't have written this review if it hadn't been for that. To make matters worse, the treatment wasn't overly effective. We continued to have ants for a few weeks after treatment until we went out and bought ant traps from Home Depot, which stopped them immediately and cost a whole lot less. The only reason I'm giving them two-stars is because Zeb and the guy who came out to treat the house were really nice guys. read more

Can't cancel without paying for the year. Didn't show up for 3 months. Made a complaint, 3 months later get a response. This is somewhat of a scam and very poor service. They tell you your amount is X amount monthly when you agree then charge your card something more. The people that show up to do the work are in and out in 5 min or less. They will send one person to do part of the service then another 2-4 days later to complete other part of service. Called multiple times regarding my bill which was never adjusted. Called to cancel service all together because it's worthless. Got charged 449.00 to cancel whi h by the way is joke. Do not use! Will lock you in a year long contract and then not show up after 1st service . Will come up with excuse technician was sick for a whole month and the next month put you on the wrong route. Then try to charge you $300 to cancel the service if less than the full year because it has been more than 3 days after signing the contract. There is nothing you can do to hold them up to their end of the contract, but they want you to pay their termination fee for services that haven't been rendered for months. They will charge you monthly, no show and refuse to reimburse you for the services they do not deliver. I was with the company for years. Their billing practices have changed at the end of 2021. This seems to be the root cause of some of the currently poor customer service. Calling to inquire or complain connects you to a cell center that seems less helpful than dealing with the cable companies. Many transfers and little to no resolution. Empty promises. Services scheduled. No shows and no calls. The only thing you can count on is that they will will bill, likely not service, and will not reimburse what you paid despite not servicing your property. read more

Hawx Pest Control broke their promise and contract first but they won't allow you to cancel the service without $199 termination fee. They signed me not only this year but 2024 without notifying me. So I signed up for their services on April 15th. They fogged for mosquitos and installed termite traps that evening. I am still waiting for the indoor treatment 6 weeks later. No problems with the treatment, but, the customer service is horrible. The same day of service you start getting text messages, multiple emails and within 24 hr a call asking where the payment is. This is every time!! I get my bill via email and set it up to pay via my bank and to deal with this type of harassment is not acceptable. I canceled my service today and advised them the final payment is already scheduled via my bank. Don't you know they called me asking for payment!!! My service was 4 days ago. I don't know if they have financial troubles, but I pay my bills and don't need a phone call to remind me!!! Will never do business with them again. read more

Another scam operation. They stated at our house we could sign up for the 2 remaining treatments for this fall and then if we wanted the next year we could sign up by March. I advised them to cancel and they stated that the contract goes Until July. I am blocking future payments and filing complaints with the local Police Dept to keep them off of the property. One of the most dishonest companies I have ever dealt with. As a real estate agent, I have used a variety of pest control companies; however, after my wife and I relocated to a new area we decided to try this company. Long story so sorry in advance..., we were approach outside our home on by a guy selling pest services on a day I had noticed some bugs outside while doing yard work. His name was Gabe. I told Gabe I was interested in pest control treatment but had some stipulations. 1.) That we would not sign up for a re-occurring treatment plan. This was to be a one-time service; however, they could keep my info because I would call them whenever I needed service. 2.) Never just show up to complete treatment and bill me. 3.) No automatic payments without my authorization each time. After Gabe made those assurances, I asked my wife to complete the info and schedule the service. All the paperwork was filled out and completed on a tablet. First service went fine; however, the service guy looked kind of sketch. Would not feel comfortable having my wife home alone with this person. The first payment was approved and processed smoothly. Then about a month later, they sent another tech out and automatically deducted payment from our account. I immediately called and said this was not what I discussed with the Gabe; however, after waiting an hr on hold I was told they would contact the Gabe to figure out the issue. Gabe was supposed to contact me on Monday and the conversation ended. No contact from them for about a week and so we reached out to the company. Once again, they told us we would be contacted by the Gabe or Hawx to fix the issue. About 5 minutes later, Gabe finally contacted us. I informed him of the situation and requested they cancel any future services they have planned and refund the unauthorized payment. He said that we had agreed to quarterly services for the next year. I informed him we did nothing of the sort and he countered by stating my wife had signed the contract. Gabe said he did not say those things, which was a lie. When my wife signed, she thought it was for the 1 time service. He did not hand her the tablet to read anything, just went to the signing page and said sign here. Complete fraud. After not making any progress with them, I decided to use BoA Fraud and Account Services to try to resolve the issue. After another hour on the phone with the BoA rep and Hawx's, we still made no progress. The BoA representative could not believe they would not cancel the service or had to run everything by Gabe. Hawx's customer service manager said, they did not have authority to...only the salesperson could. WHAT?! Complete joke. BoA was a great help and put a freeze on any future charges and opened an investigation regarding the refund. STAY AWAY FROM HAWX PEST CONTROL. They lie. Terrible Customer support. Sketchy techs. Honestly I don't even know where to begin with this so-called company. About a year and a half ago, someone came to my door wanting payment for their services. I explained to them that I never signed up for anything related to a pest control company. I also called the company and asked for a manager to call me which never happened. A month later, someone showed up again. I asked them if they had already done the spraying, and they replied no because my account states that they need to speak to the homeowner first. Aside from the fact that I don't have an account, I explained again there's a misunderstanding. I did not sign up for their services. At this point I'm getting frustrated because I never got a return call no matter how many times I called. I then noticed charges on my bank account. At the same time I have also been having some issues with my card number getting stolen. So I can try to call and explain the situation and request a refund. I also had filed a complaint with my bank to get my money back. Long story short, a manager came out at one point to speak with me and wanted me to sign a paper to verify signatures. Fine. I did so. And then repeatedly for the next four or five months someone would show up at my door. Sometimes I would catch them in the middle of starting to spray. I said I was going to call the Better Business Bureau because it was getting ridiculous. Here's the last straw for me. I received a letter in the mail yesterday addressed to my address, but not my name, stating that the account will be turned over to collections because I haven't paid for services in July. Well I should not have had any services in July. It also states that they had tried to contact me numerous times and sent a letter in August and September. If they sent some thing I never received it. And I wish somebody would call me. So I'm not sure what information this company has about me since I can never get anyone on the phone but I plan on contacting the Better Business Bureau and the Attorney General because this is nothing more than a scam. read more

I recently hired Hawks pest control to take care of a rodent problem in my house. They finally came in May and put out some bait traps and guaranteed me that the mouse problem would be taken care of. I did sign a contract and was told they would come to my home quarterly and I would be charged a flat fee of $50. Initially I paid them $150 to start this process. Not only was the problem not taking care of by them, it seems I had better success with the methods that I used. they did come back after multiple calls just recently in August checked their traps and found that they had not even been used by the pests. I recently received a bill for another $50 and called the company to inquire what was going on since the problem had not been taken care of. Their agent Marvin, who swears he's the only Marvin in the company, told me they switched to monthly Billings of $50 and not a quarterly as I was told. He he said he sent an email which I did not receive in June and apparently they have been going to my spam folder I think. I asked for a refund of the last $350 payments that they took for my checking account and I wanted to cancel my account and was told that they would have to turn it over to supervisor and he may call within 72 hours and if I would like to cancel my contract / subscription it would cost me $200 more dollars to do that. I am at elderly woman who lives alone and do not have this kind of money and this puts me in danger of my utilities being disconnected or not being able to put food on my table. My advice to anyone is do not hire them!!! They talk a good game in the beginning but their customer service when you have a problem is awful I'm sorry for the rant but I'm so upset read more

Horrible. Do not use. Called them specifically about brown recluse spiders. They show up,spray and put traps down for 10 months. Seeing brown recluse still and now we are told they weren't treating those spiders, only other spiders. They "let" us cancel but would not give us any money back even though admitting they weren't treating brown recluse. Waste of money and time. read more

***DO NOT USE THIS SERVICE. BUYER BEWARE*** This company is very reminiscent of the Kirby Vacuum sales model. If you've ever experienced that nightmare, then you should know where this is going. A very nice salesman knocked on my door and offered pest control services. He explained that he was giving our family a "discount" for $39 for the first treatment, that we'd see results in 2 days, and that if we ever wanted to cancel that we'd just owe the monthly fee ($78) plus the discount that we got earlier ($39). That was not true. It may have just been a misunderstanding as the salesman was quite polite. Here is what you should know if you are even thinking about entering an agreement with Hawx: 1) The products do NOT work immediately and possibly not at all. I was told to wait at least 2 days to see a noticeable difference in flies and mosquitos (turns out there may be a reason for that). When that didn't work, I was told to wait 7 - 10 days, now at day 7 with no change I'm being told those flying insects are hard to get rid of. But that's not what I was promised after a thorough inspection of the yard. 2) The cancellation fee is actually around $450 - $500! There is a 3-day window where you can cancel without paying this fee, but the salesman likely won't tell you that. Instead, they'll ask you to wait more than 3 days to see a difference, give the product time to work, etc. And once you do decide to leave it's very hard to cancel. There's not an option on their website or on your web account to do it yourself. The only way to do it is to call their main office. You'll have to be transferred and put on hold several times and of course THIS is where they'll finally explain the cancellation fees to make you think twice. 3) They promise to send technicians out for another application if you see any pests in between services at no additional charge. Sure, they do but it is not immediate. The truth is they do not always have technicians available in the schedule and you may have to wait several days or in my case into the next week. Bottom line, this is NOT good company to do business with. It shouldn't take a chemical agent a week or more to kill/deter insects. You can probably find something much cheaper and more fast acting. Customers also shouldn't have to experience shady or misleading pricing agreements and it should be easier to cancel or restart services at any time. I do NOT recommend this service at all! read more

Come to find out, they've charged me multiple times since May, so PAST the expiration of my contract- and have not serviced our property. They showed up at my property yesterday (now October?!) and I told them to cancel it and let the service provider know/see all of the information I've found on HAWX- which is that they are thieves. Funny how after that, the office calls me seeking a cancellation fee when they have received MORE than the cancellation fee could be- over the past few months of stealing my money past contracted dates. Had to be with his fist, and then banged on it again when I didn't get there fast enough. He proceeded to tell me all my neighbors that he's "working with" by name. Guy was super pushy and said the reasons I just couldn't make another decision in my life right now were "really sad" and that my situation with my son was "so awful". I will never do business with a company when I tell someone I'm not changing for a service happening tomorrow, that he's trying to pressure me into and that I have to do research and need to go back in my house and he kept trying to keep me outside by asking me more rude questions so he could react rudely to my answers. When you sign up for Hawx services, they don't tell you it's a one year subscription service. They tell you it's only month to month. They even charge in the fall and winter when they aren't coming out to spray your house. They still charge us $80 per month even though they haven't been out here since October. After trying to call and cancel services (which they originally told us would be no problem) I finally got smart enough to just take them off of auto pay. Now they're telling us in order to cancel we have to pay for every month from now through May. We "still owe" from December but they aren't getting another penny from us. read more

I called to cancel my service because for one they have came out but you wouldn't be able to tell because I'm still getting bugs in or around my home, when they do come out they are done within minutes like how can u be done that fast, then someone came to my house and asked about mosquitoes I clearly told the gentleman I don't need that service because I don't have mosquitos problem he was like well we can come by and do the service for free and if you are satisfied we will charge you next time. Do y'all know three wks later someone comes by to do the service and charges my card $80 for something I never needed. I calls to cancel my service man basically tells me I can't get out of this til April 2024 because I'm in a yr contract and if I do I will be charged $199 for a termination fee. How can I charge me for a termination fee for a contract I knew nothing about. I really never needed this service but because these college students come knocking on your door every damn day and you know they are working on commission I didn't mind paying the $60 monthly fee but to never be told about me being in a contract for a yr that's fraud. You are basically making me pay for something I don't want anymore and the service sucks! They probably just spraying water. The stuff I buy from the stores work way better. Please do not get scammed and ripped off by this company. And it's not worth it. Go to Home Depot or Lowe's and get Home Defense Pest Control Spray.
