I always received an email to schedule, but I didn't always notice that it was from them because there was no business name displayed. After some time, I called to get the service scheduled again. I took the day off work so I could be here on the scheduled day, and they showed up in the window that was promised. Their service vehicle was a mess on the outside, with paint peeling all over the front etc. It's just something worth mentioning because it makes them look a little less professional. I went over the grounds to describe the issues that I am having. I really needed to get things taken care of and was happy that they were here to perform the spraying. They were here for about 30 min. or less before I was told that they would have to come back some other time since their sprayer was not working. That was disappointing since I needed service sooner rather than later. Great, now I have to get back on a schedule and back in line and wait. I have no idea what was treated before the sprayer broke, or if anything was treated at all. This kind of information would have been nice. I received a VM from the office to reschedule - No apologies for the inconvenience of my taking off work for this appointment or anything. Just a "call us back to reschedule" type of thing. The last thing I need is to take off work again with the potential of the job not being able to be completed. I am going to go with another local provider and hope for the best.

I'm confused by all the great reviews. I hired STL Pest Control specifically for an active vole…read moreproblem. It has been a mess from start to finish. When the technician arrived, I showed him the holes, runways, and plant damage, but he focused on moles and told me he did not think I had voles. I repeatedly explained that voles were the reason I had called. He ultimately told me the treatment he was providing would "take care of both moles AND voles," so I agreed to proceed. This was assured to me numerous times. Afterward, the paperwork described a "Mole Yard Treatment," stated that no vole activity was observed, and showed that the service was a target mole treatment plus a granular animal repellent. I had already tried repellents myself; I hired a pest-control company because I wanted the actual vole problem treated. A repellent is not equivalent to infestation treatment. The apparent lack of knowledge about voles and the inability to properly identify the problem I had specifically hired them to address was concerning to me. Given that pest identification is such a basic part of effective treatment, that significantly undermined my confidence in the service. When I contacted the company about the mismatch, I expected them to apologize for the confusion and perform the service I was originally told I was paying for. Instead, they defended what had been done and tried to manipulate the situation, refusing any accountability. At different points they relied on the fact that the granular product could deter voles, while also explaining that their targeted vole protocol had not been performed because the technician said he did not identify active vole holes. That was exactly the problem: I had hired them for voles, repeatedly told the technician about the voles during the visit, and was assured the treatment would address them. The issue eventually resulted in a credit-card dispute that was resolved in my favor. The company still maintains that I owe the balance and continues sending automated invoices even after I asked them in writing to stop.

I had squirrels in my attic during spring, when mama squirrels are nesting and giving birth. There is no shortage of squirrels in my neighborhood in south city but even so I couldn't bring myself to hire people who would kill them. Garry and his folks thoroughly explained the squirrel mindset and nesting habits, waited until babies were old enough to leave the attic, and blocked all the entries except one with a "one way door" for the squirrels to leave and not return. (What's worse than killing adult squirrels? Starving the babies whose mom couldn't get back in to feed them and having them rot in your attic.) Once the temporary camera confirmed no more squirrel activity the workers came back and blocked off that entry too. I feel better that all the possible entryways for critters are now solidly blocked with critter-proof metal that blends neatly with the fascia on the house.

Will be hard to limit my disgust with this company to a few short paragraphs…read more Contacted them early this year to take care of some squirrels in my roof. Was given the run down about trap placement and periodical checks to ensure humane re-homing of squirrels caught. I don't think this occurred as when I thought to check on the traps over a week later they were full of frozen squirrels. Oh well. I *assume* some measures were taken to prevent re-entry and I paid about $600, don't recall the exact amount. Fast forward to springtime when the squirrels came back. Though they had not done a stellar job the first time I contacted Trapper Joe's again since my previous receipt indicated some sort of confusing warranty. Thinking very erroneously it would be cheaper than starting anew with another company. They came out and identified a few points of possible ingress, and I resisted the urge to wonder out loud why these hadn't been taken care of the first time. On April 13 I received an invoice/contract for $800 worth of labor (to be performed in the future). Over the course of the next couple months more traps were placed on my roof, and some sealing up of questionable entry points. When Joe called at the end of June (!) for final payment I owed more than $1500. (!!!!!!!!!). He stated the extra charges were due to multiple checks that were performed on the traps, the validity of which I could neither confirm nor deny. Regardless I was aghast at being charged almost double than what had been agreed upon. After some hemming and hawing I got my charged reduced to just over $1200. I felt awfully preyed upon and foolish, but at least relieved that the job was done and I could put this nasty business behind me. Then today the squirrels came back. I've thrown away almost 2K on this dastardly company and pray this prolonged incident prevents anyone from getting swindled in the future. Why, oh why, didn't I listen to the 2 existing Yelp ads before engaging these awful frauds!?!
