Meet the Business Owner: Mike R.

Mike Rottler was born and raised in St. Louis, MO. He has two children, Jessica and Daniel and 4 grandchildren. Mike's father, Fred Rottler, started out in the pest control business back in 1956. Throughout high school, Mike worked part-time for his father until he went on to attend the University of Missouri-St. Louis and Central Methodist College in Fayette, Missouri. Shortly after college, Mike entered the family business on a full-time basis as a Service Technician. In 1985, Mike took over as President of the company. Mike is a Past President of the National Pest Management Association. He currently serves on the Board of Directors for the Professional Pest Management Alliance, CPS/PestSure Insurance Group, and as the Chair of the QualityPro Board and the St. Louis BBB. He has also been an active member of Vistage International for over 15 years.

Energy Stars Heating & Cooling

During the hottest temps so far this year (multiple days of heat index of 100 degrees), I noticed…read moremy AC was running but my indoor temperature was not dropping. Called Energy Stars to come take a look at it (we had purchased the unit from them 5 years earlier), and they said 'because of the high temperatures and multiple people calling in with problems, it would take a couple of days before a technician could show up. Two days later, Eric from Energy Stars arrived to check out my outside AC condenser. As soon as he started to diagnose the problem outside, a rainstorm moved in and it rained the entire time he was outside working on my problem. He explained the issue was a faulty 'high pressure switch' in the condenser. Since he didn't have one in the truck, he 'temporarily fixed' the issue until they could order the switch and get someone back out to swap it out. Long story short, the temp in my house has gone from high 80's back down to mid 70's. Energy Stars called back later that afternoon to confirm they had ordered the switch and set up an appointment to return to install it. The part was covered under warranty (a 10-year warranty), though we will have to pay labor charges. Thanks to Eric who was knowledgeable, polite, and quick to fix the issue.

I'm on the 'every 2 months' program for $99 a visit. It's the same guy (Matt) that comes every…read moretime, who I really like. He texts me when he's on his way. We've caught a couple brown recluse and had minimal mice activity in the bait stations. Granted, I didn't have a problem, per se, but prevention is key. Setting it.up after buying the house was a bit annoying. The previous owners had been using Rottler regularly and I set it up right after move in. They wanted me to do the new $350 service even though the house had been in the program for years, with no pest problems. After some back and forth, a higher up agreed to just start the program again. They accommodate when I need to change my appointment and are generally pretty nice. This stuff.is so $$$ for the 15 minutes someone spends in your house but I also DREAD having another mice problem or worse yet, brown recluse.

I am really close to cancelling services. I have had a mouse for months and constantly cleaning up…read morethe mess, ruined food and so much more. I have expressed this over and over again yet Rottler can not seem to get it under control. I do not understand. I called today asking for them to come have my house cleaned at this point. I have explained there is still a mouse after all their attempts I do not understand. I had one technician transfer to another service area and never schedule a follow up so my home was not being serviced until I called asking what was going on. Another refused to go indoors but still wanted to say he serviced my home. So again had to call and the manager had to advise technician that they should come indoors when they are there to service. Just problem after problem. I am trying to be patient I am so frustrated. I am beyond frustrated. I am hoping they will come clean up and find a resolution. At this point I have no trust.

With the initial treatment being super affordable and the specialized carpenter ant treatment waaay more reasonable that the other pest control services in Affton, I don't see why anyone would choose anywhere else. My service was super quick and the second carpenter ant treatment won't cost anything else for the second phase of service. She also recommended where I should fill in cracks to solidify our foundation and protect our home from other pests, not just ants. Pest control is a long game, especially if your house is like the many in Affton that are pretty darn old. Well run company with excellent employees. The tech that came out, Logan Gore, put me at ease with his professionalism, thoroughness, and vast knowledge on Brown Recluses (our main problem). He was very patient with all my questions but didn't let them distract from getting the job done right. His initial inspection was systemic and he found places that I had never looked before where the Recluses were nesting. We move a lot, so I've had a few different pest control companies I've dealt with and none of them took the time to investigate every nook and cranny like Logan did. The best part was he provided the most price effective way about taking them out. No upselling unneeded products or services which is really refreshing to someone who hates being sold products I don't actually need. He then completed a systematic application of pest control solutions targeted at the Recluses inside and out of the house. Before Logan came out for my inspection I talked to Denny who also took the time to answer the million questions I had. Another company had been pushing a 2500 dollar treatment to take care of the problem and Denny, through his years of experience on the matter, explained a better solution at a fraction of that cost. I can do almost most anything except roaches! I was embarrassed and ready to put our house in the market. When a neighbor left the house with trash uncollected since the spring & I was doing spring cleaning in the garden I new it was a matter of time. We tried to to a treatment ourselves but when I started seeing them come into my home. I knew we need immediate help. Logan Gore showed up listened to my concerns. Did not force anything on us made suggestions an was a nice pleasant personable young man. I had my husband call again because I was exhausted & overwhelmed by the sight of these bugs. Logan came back again retreated and made a suggestion about the lawn when I told him about the neighbors on the other side of my home starting to see more. When I suggested that maybe someone would want to come out & canvas the neighborhood because this one house is the source. He left some business cards which I will gladly hand out. I can't say how much I appreciate his advice not pushing a service but actually listening and then allowing me to come to the conclusion I needed. We found some termite damage today when we were having carpet replaced. Sean came over right away and was very thorough. He showed us how this was old damage and that there were not any active termites. The damage was very minor and the colony probably was knocked out by the bait station before they had a chance to do much damage.
