Love the fact that they are one of the few offices that are open on Saturday. Makes it easier for people who work full time Monday through Friday. Everyone in the reception area were very nice, constantly checking up on me to see if I needed anything and letting me know that it will only be a few more minutes until the doctor saw me. Made me feel noticed not just another person in the lobby waiting. I did not have my insurance card with me and yet they managed to find my information with no worries. I love this office. The girls at the front desk are amazing and very helpful. The nose pads on my old glasses were old and worn out and the optician fixed them free of charge even though I was getting new glasses in 2 weeks. Dr. Oishi was very nice and very informative. I got my new glasses in less than 1 week. The optician broke down all my benefits for me and told me what was covered and not covered. VSP patients get an additional discount. Woo-hoo!! Service was okay. Like Geoffrey review, I felt some what rushed when I was picking out my glasses. The staff was friendly but not engaging. It's all about business with them which some people may like. However, since I am the customer, I expected a little more engagement in terms of asking me who my day going, etc. Again, they were not mean but seemed to be in a rush even to the point where the lady wrote down the wrong type of glasses that I wanted to order. I had my exam completed elsewhere but chose to pick out my frames at this location. I don't know if I will be going here next year but my overall score was.a "C." As it's time for my annual check up, I have decided not to go back this time and look for another office. The first time I went (2014) they were good. They did overcharge me $10 which I told them to refund me during my next visit (2015) and they were perfectly OK with that. My 2015 visit was not good. Doctor was pretty late, front office was gossiping, and the front desk lady had an attitude. Front desk lady couldn't answer billing questions and kept changing her answer. The doctor being late wouldn't have bothered me so much if I didn't have to sit and listen to the two ladies gossip about the office the entire time. Doctor's were great, both years! I had a different doctor each year and they were both amazing. read more

Hawthorne Optometry is a sight for sore eyes. See what I did there? In all seriousness, this place is one of the best I've visited in the nearly 25 years I've lived in the Los Angeles area. The ladies working the front desk are always smiling and helpful, appointments are easy to schedule, the doctors are knowledgeable and do the latest tests, they accept most insurances, always look for good deals or available rebates, and I've never had to wait very long--they stick to the schedule--which is great if you have better things to do than sit in a waiting room! I've been going to Hawthorne Optometry for two years and have had exams for both eyeglasses and contacts. They even worked with me when the contact lenses I had didn't work for surfing (they fogged up in the salt water) and let me try a test pair at no charge. Really happy to have found such a professional and friendly place in our neighborhood. I only have eyes for them (did it again!). read more

Great Service! Called in to make an appt. & they took me that same day. Everyone I came across was nice & helpful. I can't remember the doctors name but he ended up changing the brand of contacts I've used for years. I'm testing something different and I love them, he helped me find the best match for my eyes. I have been coming here for over 20 years, and seen many different doctors. Dr. Duong performed by last checkup. She was excellent. Very patient with all the analyses, and did not rush me at any time. She explained the results from each test that she did in ways that were easy to understand. She has a very nice patient-friendly manner. She made me feel very comfortable. But...I would say the same for all doctors that I have been tested by. The selection of frames is more than adequate. I was able to take my time picking out what I wanted. They explained all the expenses, and all the possible options, and all the costs involved. Very patient and very thorough, answering any question I had in a very friendly way. I also have damaged some of the lenses over time, and they are very good at telling me what is or is not covered by insurance/warranty...and make the replacement very simple to do. read more
