    Friendly, fun, knowledgeable service

So we're strolling along the square, downed way too much bbq, and saw this small wine shop. We really need a palate cleanser, right? Just looking around, yeah, sure. Cheryl, the tasting room lead, was so friendly & knowledgeable, and invitingly unpretentious. The place is small & cozy, maybe room for 6 people comfortably. To the right is the wall of wines, to the left is comfy seating, and straight ahead the tasting bar. We decided to go for the tasting. The selection was 4 local wines, Dry Creek Valley & Russian River Valley. 3 were gold metal winners. The tasting consisted of Viognier, Pinot, Zin, & Petite Sirah. The only one I didn't like was the Zinfandel, but taste is so subjective. Not surprisingly, we bought a bottle. The winner? Viognier. Turns out it's from Hawley Vineyard. Now I can drop a few fancy words at the next wine ordering opportunity.

What a lovely experience at Hawley Winery. We were lucky to visit when Austin the winemaker was in the tasting room with his dog June-bug. The wines were fantastic. Loved the Viognier, Chardonnay, and the Malbec was perfection. We joined the club and can't wait to come back.

As we wandered the Healdsburg square on a Saturday in May, we stumble upon this tasting room. Located off the north west corner of the square just across from The Chalkboard. The patio wasn't full at the time so we walked in to inquire about a tasting. A table on the patio was available. I can't remember the young girl who poured for us. She was pleasant and new great information about the wines she was pouring. The pours were generous and I needed her to give up a little more time to savor. For $15 our 4 glass flight included- 2020 Estate Rosé $26. Light and bright with a watermelon essence. 2018 Viognier $32. Crisp white wine 2018 Pinot Noir $52. From Oehlman Vineyard 2018 Old Vine Zinfandel $38 Great patio for sipping wine and people watching. Just a block to the west is a free large parking lot.

Cozy indoor tasting room with art for sale as well!

A very small, but quaint tasting room that you might miss walking in Healdsburg square! But those are the best, especially if another great place (Thumbprint Cellars) recommends them. We were entertained and hosted by Brianna, one of the most enthusiastic wine staffers we've ever met! We tried a number of their wines including Sauvignon Blanc, Chardonnay, and Pinot Noir, which were all good. Our favorites were Viognier and Zinfandel, which we bought two bottles each of. The walls are covered with Dana Hawley's art, which is very bright and vibrant, so we bought a print. Come for wine, enjoy the art! That should be their tagline, ha ha! It is a cool spot with nice folks, good wines, and a great experience!

We were wandering around Healdsburg square waiting for our dinner reservation and stumbled upon the open door to Hawley Winery Tasting room. The tasting was $20 for 4 wines. A viognier, Pinot noir, Zinfandel, and Cab Sauvignon. All the wines were very good. Our server was very nice and knowledgeable about the wines and the art work on the walls.

Small, artsy, and cozy tasting room. Comfortable chairs outside like you are sitting at a porch. Their chairs are handmade. They were wine barrels!!! Inside the walls are finely decorated with beautiful paintings. My favorite is how the use the barrels panels and create lovely sceneries. Very creative. Been here 2x. Always a fun treat. Staff are always welcoming and kind. Details are everything to them... My last visit here was for Barrel Tasting 2017 with the Wine Road Event and I also had the opportunity to meet the wine maker.

We were told the lunch dishes are the same but bigger portions. My favorite dishes from the tasting was the Brick Cooked Chicken and the Chocolate Lamington Dessert. My favorite wine was not one that paired with those two, but it was called Elate Grange Cuvée which was a red blend. I was considering the wine membership but what attracted me the most was not the wine but the food + wine pairing experience. Everyone sat at one very long table, in our individual groups/pairs, right next to where they store their wines in casks. Each course was paired with a wine, as wine tastings tend to do -- but in this case, each course was also accompanied by a soprano who sang an well-known aria she selected that she felt complimented the course. The food was excellent, served family style: Lemon ricotta pancakes, roasted potatoes, eggs in purgatory, a burrata and arugula salad, and an apple tart for dessert. We started the tasting with their "White Wine" and Viognier. We then moved on to the reds including Pinot, Zin, Merlot, Malbec and Cab. They were all very well made and quite tasty. If you had told me two years ago that I would confidently navigate a wine list or casually discuss soil types and native fermentation, I would have laughed. When I first walked into Lioco Tasting Room, I genuinely could not tell you whether I preferred white or red. Joining their wine club has since become one of the best investments I have made, not only in my wine knowledge, but in my social life. Lioco is the definition of thoughtful, terroir driven winemaking. Their wines lean fresh, vibrant, and balanced, with a restraint that feels very intentional. Nothing feels over extracted or manipulated. There is a purity to the fruit and a transparency to the vineyard sites that makes every tasting feel educational without ever feeling pretentious. The price point is also remarkably accessible for the level of quality they are pouring, which makes exploring their lineup feel exciting rather than intimidating. What sets this tasting room apart, though, is the people. Michael has been instrumental in helping me understand the why behind the wine, from farming practices and harvest decisions to fermentation and élevage. There is a genuine openness to sharing knowledge here. Questions are welcomed. Curiosity is encouraged. You never feel talked down to, only invited deeper. Over the past year as a member, I have watched myself grow up in my palate. I have learned what I gravitate toward and why. I have discovered that I love a coastal Chardonnay with tension and minerality, and that a light bodied Pinot with vibrant acidity can be more compelling than something heavy and oaky. That confidence now follows me everywhere. Any restaurant wine list feels approachable. Beyond the wine, Lioco is building something rare, real community. Their pickup parties feel more like gatherings of friends than transactional club events. Their Metiche pop up was a creative and intimate experience that remains one of my favorites. I have walked into events knowing only one person and left with new friends. That says everything. The space itself matches the vibe. In warmer months, there is nothing better than enjoying a glass of Estero on the patio. When it is raining, the bar becomes cozy and warm, often with records spinning in the background. It feels equal parts refined and relaxed, serious about wine but never judgmental. I have brought countless friends here for comprehensive tastings, and more than a few have ended up joining the club themselves. That, to me, is the strongest endorsement.
