BOTTOM LINE FIRST: If you have a valuable clock that needs…read morerepair, look no further. This is the place to bring it. I am highly confident you will be as happy with the work done here as I was with mine. The round trip from my home in Carlsbad took about an hour, and the result was more than worth the drive. In fact, no clock of mine will ever be going anywhere else. This is a two-person family business. Mr. Burhan Kivrak does the repair work, and I can tell you without hesitation that he is a master of his craft. His daughter, Denise, handles communication with customers and is one of the nicest people I have ever had the pleasure of doing business with. She is also learning the trade from her father, which means Timekeepers of Escondido will remain a valuable resource for many years to come. THE STORY: Nearly 25 years ago I purchased a Seiko musical wall clock. It features six different melodies and an elaborate motion display that always fascinated my family. Over the years it became one of those possessions that evolves from a purchase into something much more meaningful. Recently, a serious problem developed. Some of the moving figures began to stutter instead of moving smoothly, accompanied by a loud grinding and ratcheting noise every hour. Last year I took the clock back to the large clock dealership where I originally purchased it. After examining it, they told me the problem was likely on the circuit board and that replacement parts were no longer available. In short, they believed the clock could not be repaired. For a while, that seemed to be the end of the story. Eventually I searched for clock repair shops near me. Four possibilities came up. One I ruled out immediately based on reviews. I called the next two and described the problem. Both told me, in one form or another, that the clock could not be fixed. Then I called Timekeepers of Escondido. Denise answered. After I described the clock and the issue, she did not tell me it couldn't be repaired. She suggested I send a video, which I did. She reviewed it and explained that they would need to see the clock in person before providing an estimate. That same afternoon I brought it to the shop and met both Denise and her father. They explained that it would take a few days to evaluate and provide an estimate, and that repairs would likely take two to three weeks if I approved the work. A few days later Denise texted me with an estimate of $245. Considering that the clock originally cost about $600 and that multiple shops had essentially declared it beyond saving, I considered that a bargain. I immediately approved the repair. The estimated turnaround time was two to three weeks. Twelve days later, Denise texted me: "Your clock is ready." I picked it up, brought it home, and hung it back on the wall. It now works beautifully again. The stuttering is gone, the noise is gone, and the clock performs exactly as it should. What impressed me just as much as the repair itself was the customer service. Denise communicated clearly throughout the process and even followed up the next day to ask how the clock was doing. That kind of service is rare. Timekeepers of Escondido succeeded where several other businesses told me success was impossible. They repaired a treasured clock I genuinely thought might be lost forever. I recommend them without reservation and will gladly send friends, neighbors, and family members their way. They have certainly earned my future business.
