Beloved mantle clock fixed. Yay! There a very few clock repair shops available anymore as my feeling is that many people would just toss their old clocks into a dumpster and buy a new one. Our mantle clock was in one of the first things we bought as a couple in the previous century. it means a lot! okay, some notes: a. it may take time to get both an estimate, 3-5 weeks, and for the actual repair, another 3-5 weeks. i think there may be only one or two repair persons as this is a family shop. b. we paid half once we got the estimate and another half on pick up. the total cost was $250 as several of the internal components had to be sourced and replaced and the entire clock needed a deep cleaning. They also kept it for another week to ensure it was operating correctly c. the best way to follow up is probably by phone. Bob's has limited hour, 10-3 Monday-Friday. read more

I was very impressed with Bob's Clock Shop. We have a Grandfather Clock that was carved and made personally for us in 1981. Our former repairman retired and we had been neligant about finding a new one. When I called Dan he set a time to come out and work on the clock. When he came out he mentioned that it was going to need to be taken to the shop eventually for some major work because of it's age and the humidity here. I asked him to go ahead and take it to be serviced. We are very happy with what he did and felt his price was fair. If I could, I would give NO stars! Dan, the Bob's Clock shop owner charged $975 to "repair" a small grandmother clock and took advantage! Then, after delivery and payment, he proceeds to tell me I can not change tunes as chime rods are too delicate. No new parts added and his son told me he was the one to work on clock only DAYS before it was delivered back after having it for nearly 7 weeks. Shameful !!! read more

Great Service on Watch Battery Replacement I went to Bob's Clock Shop the afternoon of 04/04/2019. I brought three wrist watches that were not working. Two that I thought needed batteries and one with a broken strap. The young lady who helped me was quick and friendly. The first watch had a stem lock that I didn't see and was preventing it from working, she fixed it at no charge. The second watch needed FOUR batteries, she replaced the batteries and charged me $5.00 per battery (instead of $8.00 as advertised). The last watch had a missing pin on the strap, although they don't repair wrist watches she had a spare pin and fixed that watch at no charge. I left the store about 10 minutes after I arrived, all three watches fixed, and it only cost me $20.00 Good Price + Great Service! read more

If I could give 0 stars I would, sorry bob. I sent in my clock to be assessed as it was not working. They had my clock 5 weeks, for an ASSESSMENT, not even a repair. I attempted to contact them multiple times with no call backs. When I was able to get ahold of someone at the shop, they said they "didn't have my clock and didn't know where it was". After they "found my clock" a week later, I decided to pick the clock up even though no repairs or assessment had been completed (5 weeks later). When I went to pick up my clock there was a price tag on my clock like they were trying to sell it. I noticed an attempt was made to oil the gears, however it was incorrectly and poorly done and they severely over wound my clock. My clock was in worse shape leaving the shop than going in. When I picked up my clock, the employee stated for repairs are not even done in house and they send them out to someone else for repairs and then get them back. The shop was 3/4 empty when I came by and they just moved to this location, not sure if that's due to the holidays or they are going out of business. Save your time. Also, the store hours are M-F 10am-3pm. read more

My husband's grandfather received this clock when The Midway was decommissioned many many many years ago and he gave it to my father in law who recently passed away so it was then passed down to my sons, which are his only Grandsons. It had been all over and way tarnished and the clock part even had a battery that had exploded so needless to say it needed some tender loving care. They were supposed to have it for 4-6 weeks and ended up having it for 9 weeks and at first, I was upset but after seeing it, It was well worth the 9 weeks of them having it. They are super nice and very caring with your items. I will DEFINITELY recommend this shop and take my stuff there as needed. I really appreciate what they have done for my family. They Really Came Through for Me - Just took a bit I had a family heirloom very old (Late 1800's) grandfather clock that was my (deceased) parents' pride and joy. It sustained a pendulum problem after I brought it from NY and needed a good cleaning and oiling. Without going into detail, it took a lot longer than I expected to get it back. But I must say to their credit, they gave me a weekly update and the latest issues they were having. In the end, Dan, (Great guy, very personable and knowledgeable) worked like crazy to get it back to me perfectly including two house calls. It's a long story: just whatever you do, BE CAREFUL using "Bob's services." He was supposed to fix an antique clock for my mom. He charged her quite a bit of money. Apparently this individual named Bob does business in between California and Arizona where my mom is . He charged her $150 to send the repaired clock to me IN PERSON. He not only never kept his word by delivering it in person, he packed the antique clock in a old cardboard box he got from the trash and wrapped it in a plastic trash bag without the proper insulation inside the box to keep the antique safe during shipping. If he's an actual "professional," he SURELY wouldn't have done such an abysmal job packing it. The box arrived damaged. He was lucky this time. Amd then he never supplied the directions on how to operate the clock. Then after badgering him for the instructions, he sent gibberish that made no sense. I sent numerous text messages directly asking him specific questions on how to operate the clock. They went completely ignored. When I called him directly, without even listening to my complaints, he hung up. He never returned the $150 he charged my mom to deliver the clock in person. That constitutes THEFT. So not only is he incapable of repairing antique clocks, (the one I have doesn't function the way he was paid to make it function,) he steals money from people by never following through in his agreement. On top of that, he's rude and insolent over the phone. A BIG THUMBS DOWN on Bob and his abysmal joke of being an "antique clock repairman." Repairs not done locally! Sent to Arizona once every two weeks. Cleaned and checked last year. Took in on July 1, 2022, to rehang the pendulum which had broken off. July 28th I got a call that some additional work need to be done and the quote was $295! Asked why this wasn't seen a year ago and the messenger had no answer. I said I would pick it up to get a second opinion and then was informed it was in Arizona and would not be back in Oceanside until late on August 9th and could be picked up on the 10th!
