I recently hired Hawk Movers to move my household, which included a large amount of high-end furniture. Roughly 90% of my furniture was Ethan Allen, and unfortunately, around 75% of all pieces sustained visible damage during the move -- scratches, dents, and more serious harm to structural parts. Now, I expect Hawk Movers may respond that I "knew" their liability was limited to $0.60 per pound per article, since that is the industry standard. That's true -- and it was in the contract. But let's be clear: a liability limit does not give a company license to mishandle a customer's belongings. The limitation only defines compensation, not the level of care they are supposed to exercise. Hawk Movers advertises that they have a 96% no claims record. After my experience, I suspect that number reflects how pointless it is for most customers to file a claim. Why? Because at $0.60 per pound, the payout is so tiny compared to the actual loss that it's simply not worth the paperwork. Here's part of the email I received after asking for a claim form, quoted verbatim: "It is our goal to make the claim prosses a fast and transparent as possible. Hawk Movers does not provide full coverage moving insurance for your move, as stated in your contract and also in the 'Your Move Is Booked' email that was send after your move was booked. We are governed by the Texas Department of Motor Vehicles. As a House Hold Goods Carrier we are liable for up to .60 per pound, per article. Hawk Movers LLC. also has the right to deny any or all claims." This response reinforces the problem: they openly acknowledge they don't provide full coverage insurance, yet they market themselves as if claims are rare because they take better care than competitors. My experience shows otherwise -- the "no claims" statistic may be more about the futility of the claims process than the quality of the service. If you are considering Hawk Movers, please read the fine print carefully. If you value your furniture -- especially high-quality pieces -- know that even catastrophic damage will leave you with pennies on the dollar. More importantly, no liability waiver should excuse a company from taking proper care of your belongings in the first place. read more

Movers were very disappointing. After explaining what needed to be done multiple times they still screwed up. There were areas of the house they didn't touch. I was disappointed with the service and the overall experience. I reached out to the office and they refused to do anything to correct things and wanted to recharge me for their mistake. Excellent experience from call to finish with Hawk Movers for our last minute (3 days notice) move from a house, to a storage unit, to a 3rd floor apartment. Not only did they call and arrive earlier than promised, the moved quickly, so did not milk the clock like many movers do when the rate is by the hour. Pricing was fair and explained well up front. I had an excellent experience with Hawk Movers. They were punctual, professional, and incredibly hard-working. The movers, Joseph and Jorge, were very accommodating on our long distance move. They took great care of our items. The price was competitive (I got several bids from different companies), and the price was exactly what the office had quoted. They did not try to upsell me or rack on extra fees the day of the move like some other moving companies do. I also felt rest-assured because they are listed on both the U.S. gov and Texas DMV websites, which means they are licensed and insured. Overall, it was a seamless, easy move. They'll damage your precious furniture and not even care, they'll argue with you when you show that they are be reckless, they'll over charge you, they'll stop before the job is done and go off leaving you hanging with more to move, and when you complain they'll say it's all the Customer's fault for complaining!! We used Hawk Movers to move out of our house and into storage, then out of the storage and into a new house. It was a big job. The workers showed up at the designated time and got right to it. They had most of the stuff out of the house before I had the bed frames broken down. I was amazed at how fast they worked. Great team and friendly people. I wish we could rate these movers with a negative. We had our Dallas house packed and everything but 2 beds, a treadmill, refrigerator, Washer & Dryer were in the front room. These guys didnt even bring tools to disconnect the washer and dryer. My daughter and I carried things to the trailer to get the 2 guys in gear. One stayed on his phone most of the moving the first house. Going the new house they took the wrong turn and then stopped to get lunch before coming to the new house. We had them unload the truck at the new house putting everything but the beds, refrigerator, washer & dryer, in the front living room as you entered the house. Hawk Movers had our bar stools stacked to the back wall on top of each other so we didn't see the damage till the next day. All of our rubbermaid containers were stacked lightest on the bottom, heaviest on top so they we crushed and cracked. Now after dealing with Casey for 3 months and only getting I'll call you tomorrow and tomorrow never came, we are over it. He argues with us that we received the claim papers but he is never able to tell us what address he sent them to. He finally sent them Thanksgiving weekend certified and offered us 88.00 inclusive for 450.00 in bar stools that they ruined and everything else they damaged. He told me the department of motor vehicles states hes only has to pay .60 cent per pound for damaged items. The department of motor vehicles didn't move us he did. He said we signed the contract after we were moved in to the new house. First of all we didn't, the neighbor was here for us because they took forever and secondly you don't get to destroy our our property and then say we signed the contract after they did that. Casey is the nicest person when he is trying to get your money. The two guys he sent to move us acted as if they couldn't speak English they whistled and pointed at thing when they wanted to communicate with us and drug the move out for hours longer then necessary. Casey's attitude now is rude and he wants to argue about everything he also threw in my faced that I complained about his guys throwing trash in the street and it was only a few drink bottles. So because they only threw a few pieces of trash in the street in front of our house that is acceptable to him apparently. Please dont let the sweet home town sales pitch fool you when dealing with these people, remember your property is only worth sixty cents a pound when they destroy it! read more

I have always moved myself and I wish I would have stuck to my roots this time. I have to admit, the movers were efficient and great even though they did scratch my flooring with the washing machine and my pool table got a couple of scratches. My problem is that I told the front office exactly what I had to move, they assured me no problem and then 8 hours and $1200+ later, only 50% of my home was moved. Now I have to rent a truck and move the remainder myself. I would never recommend this company to anyone based on their management team. read more
