This review covers the packing services offered by Old World Movers. Nathan, Matt, and Dean were pleasant and very dedicated to their task. They sought clarification at a few points, and it was clear that they liked and respected each other. It wouldn't surprise me if they had worked for years together. They worked like a well-oiled machine, meticulously and carefully. They completed the work an hour and 15 minutes ahead of the projected time, all the while treating items with respect. We had packed many boxes and moved them ourselves, but there were many Home Depot moving boxes left over. They used those boxes, thus saving us the cost of paying for their boxes. I really appreciated this. Also,they are going to move the boxes that we ourselves packed, which saves us money. I was very appreciative of the amiability of the moving crew, of their care and precision in packing, of the fact that they were considerate of our desire to save money everywhere we could, and of how pleasant they were. I called to get a quote and was told an estimator would come out to our house and look at our stuff and be able to give a precise quote and explain the process. I was told Shane, the guy coming out,was fantastic at his job and very helpful. Shane called the day before his appointment and tried to beg out of coming. He wanted to do a FaceTime call instead. I explained that would not work and called the main office to explain our situation. Shane called again today (day of appointment) to try and get me to change my mind so he would not have to come out. He said my house was "small" and made it clear he did not want to "drive across town" to do the job I was told would be done when I booked the appointment. I talked to the main office again (because they had always seemed so helpful) to explain we needed the on-site evaluation we had been promised. I was very upset that Shane had basically told me my house was too small to be worth his bother to come in person. I told them I was willing to have someone else come out or to change dates, but they talked me into keeping my appointment and reassured me Shane was great even though they did not know Shane had been changed the appointment from 3pm to 1:45pm. Shane called less than an hour before he was set to come and cancelled. He told me I should use another company like Atlas Van Lines. So, if their own employee will not recommend them, why should I? Save yourself the time and effort and call another company and tell them Shane sent you. read more

The movers did a great job, I was impressed with them:) The only thing I didn't like- I called the day before to ask if they had a discount for paying in cash (my last mover did). They said no. But then when I handed my cc to the movers to pay, the guy they called it in to said that there was a 5% charge to use a cc. Uhhh, seems like that should be mentioned before. As a result we all made a trip to the ATM while we were exhausted and sweaty to get a big wad of cash. We used Olde World Movers in Euless, TX, to temporarily move us from a large home to an apartment plus a storage facility, while our new home was being built. Unfortunately, we didn't have a great experience. However, the owner Erich Horder did such a great job of taking care of the issues that we encountered that we decided to use them again when our new home was ready. The second move was awesome! The movers were friendly, professional and were very careful with our belongings. The owner, Erich, stayed in touch with us throughout the process. We used Olde World Movers this weekend to move my sister and that was the best experience moving I think I've ever had. Our team was Anthony and Tory and these guys were amazing! They were on time, quick but thorough, courteous and fun! We had to move items from (3) locations to the new house. We did not actually get to use this company, but I wanted to share our experience getting a quote as they came highly recommended by others. We had someone come out to get an inventory. He told me that we would be charged an hourly rate and that the more boxes and things that we could move in advance, the cheaper the move would be. But, he said, more than once, that he was giving me a "not to exceed" quote so we would know the cost would not go over that amount. When we received the quote, there was a minimum charge, but nowhere did it say "not to exceed (NTE)." I emailed the owner and she just said, no, there is no NTE; you need to talk to the person who came out to give you the quote. He actually called me and said that he had never told me it would be a NTE quote, but he said he would fix. It has been about 2 weeks and I never heard back from him or the owner. I have sent follow-up emails. Needless to say, with this much trouble at this stage, we will use someone else. read more

I wish I could give them more than 5 stars. The response time to my move request was fairly quick. The conversation was thorough and pleasant, so I knew just what to expect. After the initial call, I was sent a few reminders. My move was scheduled for Saturday morning between 8 and 9 am. I recieved a called from Erch Horder, that unfortunately, they would be few hours behind(not good), but, I would be compensated by being given an extra mover and an extra hour at no charge to me(that's great!). I recieved a call from Matt Smith in the new time frame I was expecting them, to tell me they were on their way. From his first phone call, to the minute he and his team left, Matt was incredibly professional. The efficiency that Matt and his team showed was beyond what I hoped for. And Matt was not exaggerating.... he can move a 100 lb Purple brand mattress by himself. There was another problem, but again, I was well compensated. One of his guys accidentally broke my coffee table. Matt owned up to it immediately and offered to have it repaired at no cost to me. I accepted;however, when I spoke to his boss Erch, he offered to either give me the move for free or have the coffee table repaired. I want to give Old World Movers more than 5 stars, not just because of Erch and Matt and his professionalism, as well as how quick they were, but because of the effort that was made to compensate for unforeseen problems that occured. Went with olde world movers due to the reviews but was highly disappointed. Was told they would arrive at 9, they came at 8:30. I told them I wasn't ready because I thought I had 30 mins but he insisted to start at 8:30. They were fast but with speed came a price. They banged my boxes all the way down the stairs even tho the boxes were labeled fragile. They were not careful with the walls in the old house OR the new house. Had knicks on both houses. I would probably not work with Olde World Movers again. There were so many opportunities for them to provide a great customer experience, but they did not seem concerned with that. For starters, there was confusion the DAY BEFORE the move between Olde World, myself, and a third party contractor who was supposed to disassemble/reassemble some gym equipment. Rather than take care of it on their end, Olde World had me interfacing/paying the contractor directly. Then, the work order was wrong and it became my task to play middle-man between Olde World and the contractor and get everything straightened out! I was in the middle of a day of work (I teach high school math/science), trying to get Olde World to pick up the phone, and not being able to reach anyone. Finally, when the contractor wanted to be paid more than was quoted in the estimate, Erich at Olde World wanted me to split the difference with him on the extra payment (about $300 extra). A very frustrating experience, and super stressful happening last minute while I was at work. Olde World also could not/would not move a plug&play hot tub for me. They categorically will not move them, even though it has zero plumbing, and is light enough that my husband and I can move it around by ourselves. All you need is a truck with a lift-gate. The quote they sent is a bit confusing, as one section says they won't move hot tubs, while another section mentions special items handling for hot tubs. My bad for not catching that I guess. I had Wildcat Movers come out the very next morning and they moved it with zero issues. I spoke with Erich several times during the course of two days and by the end I could tell he was getting annoyed at having to deal with me. I was surprised to find out later that he is the owner, but I guess that explains a lot. I did have positive interactions with Sheila, Conrad, and the move crew. No complaints there. Next time I need to move something I will find a company that takes care of the entire job. read more

Professional moving company. I chose Olde World after reading over other reviews and 20 years of experience. Set up a complicated move with 2 stops (Roanoke and Fort Worth) apartments and onward to Austin. Comparable pricing and an in-home estimate by Erich made me feel at ease that all my packing/loading/transport would happen smoothest over a 2-day trip. Even requested the movers to help get certified weight tickets to assist with my military move. Packers and loading went well other than forgetting the TV wall bracket that I had to retrieve. Traffic getting into Austin caused the guys to be tardy but that's expected in morning hours. After Gene and Parker unloaded at my new home without any issues, they also helped me pick a storage unit size and put my remaining goods in storage without extra charge. Very good experience considering the complexity of my move and workers did everything I asked them to do. Very good overall and if I move back north, I'd use Olde World Movers again. read more

This was my second time using movers, so I knew what to expect. I had called around to at least 10 different places playing them off one another to get the lowest bid. What stuck out the most to me with OWM was that they had a professional looking website, and even the quote that was sent was professional. From everyone else, I had received everything from just a verbal quote, to an email quote, to just a plain text format quote - I know all of that sounds irrelevant, but when you're dealing with your possessions, you want to make sure you are working with a real business. With all of that being said, I didn't have to haggle much at all with Olde World Movers, and I even spoke to them a couple of times because they wanted to confirm all of my information and make sure everything was ready. I appreciated the extra effort. The moving experience was great. They wrapped my couches and wood furniture in plastic wrap so that they wouldn't get scratched. The movers were wonderful and friendly. Their name badges were embroidered into their shirts, so that reassured me that they were full-time employees (per their website), and not just guys off the street. I know some of my comments are pretty random, but I'm always skeptical of movers because of the crazy stories you hear! My move was from Dallas (on the 26th floor of a highrise apartment) to Houston. I explained when I scheduled that this was the only option for the time frame we are working with to do this move. We called this company because we needed a professional service to get us out of our apartment on time. We were told they had a morning move in Lewisville at 9am and would do ours shortly after, calling us between 12-2pm. It is now 2:35. No call no show. That is an exceptionally AWFUL thing to do. Moving is stressful enough without having to find a last minute service because the folks you HAD scheduled bailed on you. What could have fixed this? One phone call. One. A 2 minute call saying "oh hey, sorry- we are taking longer than expected on this job." Or: "oh hey, sorry- we are stuck in the nightmare of OU vs. UT traffic." Not even a word. Will never recommend. I would recommend these movers to anyone that is moving. They were on time and were very efficient. We had a 3 man team, Jason, Chad and Matt. These guys didn't waste time. They had all the materials needed to wrap and protect our furniture. They got right to work and were so professional. They brought a big truck that was able to fit anything we could throw at them. The guys were really good at pointing out prior blemishes and knicks on the furniture so that we would know it was done beforehand. Once they loaded the truck we met up at our move-in location. They proceeded to unload with the same efficiency as the load-up. They were also good at letting my wife point out to them where she wanted our furniture. Mom was only moving about a mile away but needed some guys and a truck to move some large and heavy pieces of furniture. They arrived on time and worked steadily, following her instructions and requests to a "T." Every piece was carefully wrapped in pads and plastic, and special care was taken with the antiques and the glass-front cabinets. I have used several local movers over the years but these guys were absolutely the best I've ever experienced. I was extremely pleased that my mom was able to enjoy a stress-free move. We used Old World movers on November 2nd 2013. They severely and negligently damaged our new Pottery Barn dresser and brand new Pottery Barn kids crib. They were using a dolly that has two exposed screws at the bottom and those screws left multiple punctures and scratches on our furniture. The claim process has been a complete nightmare requiring multiple photographs, two hand written letters, two notarized papers (two months apart) and multiple calls to see what is taking so long. They offered to settle with me for $50 even though the damage is assessed at approx $900. They have done everything they can to get me to give up and finally today I get another paper with them conceding to pay me $231, of course only if I sign and get this notarized. So it's now been over 7 months and I am sure it will be another few months before I see the check. Do not use this company. The movers were very nice but the service and responsibility since has been a complete nightmare. read more

I leveraged Olde World Movers to move twice. The 1st move was a local move for my Mom. Everything went really well. Then, I hired them to move from Texas to Nevada. I was surprised they were willing to drive our possessions to Nevada and return to Texas empty. All of the guys who packed, loaded and unloaded were a pleasure to work with. I have done several long distance moves typically with a bunch of damage. I was pleasantly surprised by how well the move went. Just used Olde World Movers for the 3rd Tim in Feb. 2018. I had used them 2x in 2014. Service level has not changed in 4 years. They are still great to work with. In 2014, I used to move from a home to temporary housing/storage and then to a new house. This year I used Olde World for a smaller move...just moved a washer/dryer, refrigerator, and patio set. Move involved 3 houses...dropping, picking stuff up to move to the next house and setting up appliances. Mike and Domingo did a great job hooking things up and making sure to ask what else they could do. Mid-move it started to rain and they made sure to wrap items in plastic to not get wet. read more

I had a little snag with the movers seeming to take a bit longer than anticipated but after speaking to the owners the situation was promptly rectified. I never leave one star reviews as taking my business and money elsewhere makes more sense, but this company has zero regard for other people's time or how cancelling last minute might affect a family therefor I had to warn others. I can't rate this company on their moving services as I didn't get that far. I requested an estimate online for our larger furniture as we had planned to move the boxes ourselves. I had spoken to a representative Thursday(4/27) and discussed that we had the estimate but wanted to have someone come out Tuesday(5/2) to give us an estimate on moving everything since my husband will be in Oklahoma for work and I have a two month old and a nine year old. I can't exactly move by myself. The woman on the phone told me not to schedule for Saturday and to wait until we had the quote for the entire apartment and THEN to call back to schedule for Saturday afternoon or early Sunday morning. Okay, great! I called this morning(5/1) to confirm that someone was coming out the following day and to see if there was availability for the Saturday move and if there was a slot available to move everything if we needed to. The woman on the phone acted as if I was discussing plans to build a plane from the ground up. She was totally confused by what I was saying even though we had discussed it Thursday afternoon and she literally gave me the advice I was now calling to check up on. I could tell she was trying to act confused as nothing I said was confusing and she tried to blame it on the owner of the company for "overbooking" and not telling her? She then stated that I was making the entire move too confusing and that they wouldn't be able to move anything for us despite us getting a quote on our large furniture. Now I'll have to extend my lease another month at our current apartments and pay additional cost of the townhouse we were moving in to this weekend. Not to mention that we already scheduled to disconnect our electricity and water at our current place of residence. I'm totally shocked at the blatant disregard for someone needing to move. They should understand how stressful it is to move let alone cancelling a week before someone needs to do so. ***UPDATED REVIEW*** By the end of the day after leaving the above review, Erich called me personally to address what had happened. He was very polite and immediately let me know that my issue wasn't handled correctly. I'll admit that I personally was under a great deal of stress trying to pack my home with two kids under foot while my husband was out of town for work. I could have cooled off before leaving the initial review. Erich was beyond professional and rescheduled my move without any issues. Most of your reply is incorrect. Yes the crew was a little early & the forman didn't like the fact that we pointed that out, which is where HE started being rude. We did however have plenty of stuff ready for them to start moving where he rudely said "I'm not dealing with this sh!!" and walked out..went and sat in his truck (called supervisor we assume). Supervisor came out & your crew left. Guy was inappropriately rude & probably new he wouldn't face any recourse due to being comfortable in his position since "has has been with you for a long time".
