The salad was fresh and the grilled vegetables and chicken were warm, cooked well, and flavorful. The food came with lots of dressing on the side that seemed to be a mix of soy sauce and sesame oil. I liked that there was a bar where you could add extra seasonings like Sriracha, Tabasco, and furikake. I ordered my chicken salad extra spicy, and the extra spicy is exactly that. There are lots of fresh Thai peppers added, seeds and all. Overall, the food was very filling and yummy! The exterior is cute with plenty of parking at the lot. My brother and I came into the location tonight - keep in mind that this is my first time coming to a Hawaiian Time AND I'm a pretty picky eater - and WOW! First, the food was INCREDIBLE, possibly the best meal I've ever eaten in my life. Second, the customer service was very good! The gal up front was super friendly, patient and answered any questions that we had about the available meals. The food came to us very quickly, less than five minutes from the time we ordered! Lastly, these portion sizes are HUGE! Usually when you go to restaurants you see the disheartening effects of Shrink-flation, with very small portion sizes and nauseatingly high costs. Placed an online order. When we arrived, they had "not received it." Showed them the receipt so they could make it. Oops, they're out of kalua pig, too! So that part's not great. I went with the teriyaki chicken stir fry with rice and macaroni salad (a staple of Hawaiian fast food). The stir fry was pretty good with a variety of veggies mixed in. Hello. I have been a customer eating at Hawaiian time since 2003 when they began. For the first time in my life, I went to Hawaiian Time, and it was the most disgusting food I have ever had. I ordered the Kalua Pig Regular size. Unfortunately, I paid cash and forgot to get a receipt so I cannot prove this. There was one small scoop of macaroni, small amount of rice, and barley a baby's size amount of overcooked cold pork. This poor quality of food could have made me sick. After warming it up in my microwave it still tasted like shit. The service was also very slow, as I had only one person ahead of me and waited about 15 minutes while 2 employees were smoking and staring creepily at me to make matters worse. This use to be our go to spot when we wanted some good Hawaiian food at a decent price. The connivence of having a drive thru is a added bonus when you don't want to get out of your car. However the last time we ate here it was absolutely horrible. My pork was mostly fat and it wasn't cooked throughly, my husbands chicken was very dry and was more like Jerky. We didn't get any sauces and we live to far to travel back. I tried calling the restaurant when I saw what our food looked like but you get directed to their website if you have a issue. I've been a big fan of Hawaiian Time for over 10 years and always loved the food. My wife and I have frequently went to the Springfield, W 11th Ave and River Road locations. The Springfield location has always been outstanding, W 11th Ave we have no complaints, but this location has always been off. First off, over the 2 years of coming here, the drive thru attendants always tend to be lazy, rude, overall apathetic ( beyond the usual measure) and/or high. Also, this is the 3rd or 4th time that we have received our food in a mess, with the cardboard box messes up, and food and liquids leaking out into the bag, making an overall mess. However this time, after eating we both got sick and have had stomach troubles for 2 days now. It was the only thing we ate on Monday so we know it couldn't have been anything else. The last two times I went here, I feel ripped off. I'm actually so mad right now. I just spent $32 for two large chicken and vegetable plates- and there was only 5 pieces of chicken on one and 6 on the other. The Mac salad has always been good but let's be honest it's not a true Hawaiian Mac salad. Simple but good. I always get the Kalua pork and smother it in teriyaki sauce. I especially like the Mac salad; again add teriyaki sauce. The atmosphere is cold, but so is the space physically. I ordered the HuliHuli Chicken and in my opinion it is a bit dry where you have to smother it with the sauce just to get a moist balance back to the taste. Last, my biggest complaint is this is a fast food joint. The girl behind the counter while I was being rung up asked if I would like to leave a tip. Felt pretty obligated at this point. I'm one for tipping when being served at a sit down restaurant but not a fast food joint. We have had trouble at this shore in the past. The W 11th Hawaiian Times continues to be a disgrace to the brand. From forgetting food within your order, getting orders wrong, taking short cuts to try and correct errors and now purposely "showing a customer a lesson". I ordered a Mix Plate with Kalua Pork and Mauna Loa Chicken. When I get there to pick it up it is Huli Huli Chicken. Not the same dish at all. I ask them to correct the error and they scrap the Huli Huli out, add Mauna Loa sauce to it and give it back to me. I explain that is not the correct dish. The sauces as different and the two together will not taste good. The manager says he will make me a new Moana Loa fresh and does so. I finally get home to enjoy my dinner and I find my chicken, pork and rice all floating in pig fat. The bottom of my food box was full. I called the store and spoke to the manager and he denied the entire thing. Saying "I personally plated your food and I drained that pork". BS. You have lost our business permanently after being loyal customers since that store opened. We have had events catered, special guests from out of town treated to good authentic Hawaiian Food.
