A black cash box is attached to the left side of the adult hardback bookcase for payment. The majority of the selections: $1, unless marked otherwise. Bargain-seekers hunting down trade textbooks for school (UHM undergraduates and parents of Punahou middle and high schoolers, take note!), current literary fiction, or poetry can find some great deals! I've scored some like-new, author- signed editions. Please donate your gently used books at the Circulation Counter, as well.

The librarians are wonderful too. There's been a turnover in recent years but they're just as warm, kind, and helpful. They have fun seasonal programs. The kid and I used to do the summer reading challenges and we'd claim fun prizes. Should do that again! OG members who have the red library card can keep it, (I think maybe until the account expires? I can't recall.) if you want the new blue one with the fancy logo you'd have to sign up for a new account. But who wants to memorize a new number?! Yesterday I went in on a whim to ask abt my account (I wasn't able to log in online a week or so ago). Didn't have my card OR ID (smh) but the librarians could look up my account via my account number. But of course the minute I confidently said I have it memorized i couldn't say it. (SMH again) Thankfully I have my app on the phone which has the barcode, but I had to log on to the library WIFI to access it (thank goodness for prefilled userid and password). Long story short, both librarians accommodated my situation and helped me borrow books and cancel requests etc. i realized later I can cancel the requests myself on the computers (which was how I placed the requests in the first place SMH x3) and via the self-service machine! Because you can enter the account number manually. Anyway. Best library. Cool a/c. Lots of tables and computers (I saw an uncle playing solitaire). Very quiet and calm, until I came along, that is.

1 Star - Extremely Frustrating Customer Service…read more I am extremely disappointed with the Honolulu Board of Water Supply's customer service and lack of communication. Their automated telephone system does not work properly. When you try to request a callback, the system instructs you to press 1 and enter your 10-digit telephone number. After entering the number, it asks you to do the same thing again and again, creating an endless loop. There is no confirmation that your callback request has been accepted, making the entire process frustrating, time-consuming, and completely unproductive. Since I was unable to get anywhere by telephone, I decided to contact the Board of Water Supply by email. I have sent several emails and have yet to receive a response. What exactly are customers supposed to do when the telephone system doesn't function properly and emails go unanswered? The Board of Water Supply provides an essential public service, and customers deserve a reliable way to communicate with the organization. We should not have to waste our time navigating a malfunctioning telephone system or repeatedly sending emails that receive no acknowledgment. At this point, it feels as though everyone is out to lunch and nobody is taking responsibility for responding to customers. My next step will be to write directly to Ernest Y. W. Lau, P.E., Manager and Chief Engineer of the Honolulu Board of Water Supply, to bring these ongoing customer service problems to his attention. I believe senior leadership should be aware when customers cannot get through by telephone, cannot successfully request a callback, and receive no replies to repeated emails. I hope Mr. Lau will take these concerns seriously and investigate why the telephone callback system is malfunctioning and why customer emails are going unanswered. The Board of Water Supply needs to seriously evaluate its customer service operations, fix its callback system, and make sure emails are answered in a timely manner. Customers deserve better communication, accountability, and service from an organization responsible for providing such an essential public utility. One star for a frustrating and disappointing customer service experience.

But when my internet bill went up to $100 a month. I'd had enough. So I stopped by the Hawaii Telcom kiosk in Windward Mall. I met and was helped by Regina Espinoza (she gave me her card to share) . She shared about their program that is only $40/month for high speed internet, the process is locked in for 5 years, this process includes the router AND the first 2 months are free. She didn't have to tell me much more. I was sold at $40/month! She was able to set me up for install the following Wednesday, we decided on a time, afternoon. And we were set to go. On Wednesday afternoon, Robby our installer called to confirm the appointment and to let us know about what time he'd be at our home. Then he called again while he was on his way. My home is in a warehouse, so during the work day, parking can get a little tight. So I called him and told him that I'd make sure that he had a place to park. I had him park in my stall, while I ran some errands. I came home when I knew the parking lot would be clear. And Robbie was leaving to go up the road to make some kind of connection he needed for my install. He came back after a short while. He was very pleasant and courteous. He helped me download the app that I needed to complete the set up, walked me through the app set up and even helped me put my router up, off the floor, so my internet service wouldn't be so spotty. Last of all he asked if I was keeping Spectrum, I told him no way. And asked him if he'd help me take the Spectrum hardware off. He took all the PCs wrapped all the cords and put them on the floor in an easy place for me to get to. I can't express what an excellent level of excellence I received. I'm a very happy new customer and grateful to be "locked in for the next 5 years! " Big Mahalos to Regina and Robbie, for being wonderful examples of Hawaiian Tel com's excellent customer service!

Paying 4k a month in rent and have been without internet for a week because of incompetence. had to give my ssn to two different people on their end because they said it the order was wrong. I must also add in that I am a perfectionist, crazy OCD, neat/clean freak and I vacuum everyday, but there is no amount of vacuuming that could've been done in order to do what Stephen and his crew did for my place! My appointment was easy to make and Stephen was able to fit me into his schedule that same week. He gave me an estimate over the phone and it was almost exact after the cleaning was done (which made me happy). I scheduled the cleaning to be completed when I was out of town, which worked out really well. I left a key for them to get in my place and clean and came home to (what felt like) a brand new couch and carpet! Take note that they do not move furniture, but they clean around it, so I moved a lot of my stuff into my kitchen so they could clean areas that normally wouldn't get cleaned (under my ottoman, my peloton, barstools, etc.) It also was cheaper to have my whole place done rather than just one couch or upholstery because they have to carry all the equipment into your place regardless, so minds well get more than one piece of furniture cleaned. Treat yourself...you deserve it!
