The food was very ono. Every dish came in generous Hawaiian portions with plenty of sauce and a lot of rice. The vegetables were cooked but still crisp, and the meat was made with really good cuts. The rice was cooked perfectly too. Mahalo on the amazing spam musabi! Great experience all around.

I had been craving some Hawaiian barbecue, macaroni salad in particular. I stopped by Hawaiian BBQ Express for dinner (with plenty left over to take for work tomorrow!). I ordered my food to go: #1 combo-Hawaiian BBQ chicken, steamed rice, macaroni salad and steamed veggies. I ordered sides: macaroni salad, steamed veggies. I appreciate the friendly service. My food was brought to me once ready to go. The inside decor of the restaurant was bright and cherry. It was decorated with bright orange paint, surfboard and Hawaiian knick knacks. There's also photos of their drinks. The restaurant is small in size, but, still room for tables if you wish to dine inside. The food did not disappoint! The Hawaiian BBQ chicken was tender and full of flavor. The rice was not at all sticky. The macaroni salad was so good! The steamed veggies, could have been steamed a bit longer. But, overall I was able to eat them. This was a meal definitely well made and well spent! Can't wait to eat more for lunch tomorrow! Thank you Hawaiian BBQ Express! I will come visit again sometime! :)

I ordered takeout and was impressed with how quickly everything was ready. The food was excellent full of flavor, generous portions, and really satisfying Hawaiian BBQ. The service was friendly and welcoming, and even just stopping in for pickup I noticed the atmosphere inside was warm and inviting. Overall, a great spot for delicious Hawaiian BBQ. I'll definitely be back!

Food is good here. Best in Vacaville in my opinion. Service is okay. I like it. I come back every once in a while.

Hawaiian BBQ Express is an excellent choice to fill up on some delicious Hawaiian themed rice plates. We ordered via GrubHub for delivery 3 classic favorites. Plates are pretty standard; flavors are mild, esp on the veggies so keep the shoyu close by in case you need a dab or two. We have ordered in-person before and have always received friendly service! It's a small, quick order at the counter and eat at the table type. Easy, convenient, and it is fast food. We always enjoy meals here, portions are large, expect left overs...it's nice they have a delivery options. Mahalo HBE!

I got a RICE BOWL-BBQ Chicken, all veggies no rice! Portion is on point and it smells & taste so delicious!! I would order this again!

I really enjoyed the garlic shrimp. There was some kind of breading on the shrimps and cooked with a good amount of chopped garlic and onions. The steamed vegetables underneath were a good pair. My boyfriend got the curry chicken katsu, which he liked but we were surprised that the curry tasted a lot like Thai curry. In comparison to L&L, the macaroni salad and spam musubi were ok. The rice in the spam musubi was a little mushy and the sauce was kind of lacking in flavor. I'd still come back here to try other things since they have a lot of different food options.

Great little spot for Hawaiian food with decent prices. They're closed on Tuesday, but it's no biggie. Decent service and very prompt.

The servings were generous. The food was fresh and delicious. The Egg drop soup felt like a warm hug. I especially enjoyed the pork fried rice, I am used to seeing it with the bbq pork, which this one was not that did not take away from how good it was. The Kung Pao chicken could have had the veggies chopped smaller, but it's no big deal, it had plenty of peanuts which was a nice surprise. The service was great our water cups were never empty and empty plates were collected at an appropriate time. The staff was kind and very inviting. The place itself is a little outdated but the service and food make up for it. We will most definitely be coming back to Wah Shine. Sorry no pics.

On Friday around 5:30pm we were able to find parking out front on the street. You go in a side entrance which has a few outdoor tables and when you walk in, if you go right there is a bar area and left is the restaurant area. Looks like a place that families and older couples like to eat. We got there a little early so asked for a table for four. We were seated in about 5 minutes and while waiting for our friends ordered a drink. They offer beer, wine and cocktails. They have a large menu and have specials also. I ordered the Pear Collins and hubby had a beer. Once our friends arrived our waitress took our orders. We started with the Tequila Grilled Prawns and the World Famous Calamari. I ordered the Beet and Goat Cheese Salad and hubby had the Chicken Asiago Fettuccine. Our friend ordered the Pork Chop. The pork chop was huge and she said it was delicious. Hubby liked the pasta but although there was plenty of salad and beets, there was just a big glob of sour cream on top. Service was good and our waitress was very friendly and took good care of us.

After a few email exchanges they offered a certificate to come back. I told them that I don't think our friends would want to come back and declined the offer but I wanted to be clear that my issue is based on the service. Told her I was a former waitress and food reviewer, I received no response back. Dear Merchant Team, I wanted to share my experience from my visit this past Saturday with a party of four. It was our first time dining at Merchant, and while we enjoyed the brunch overall, I was disappointed with the portion size of the chicken fried steak. It was surprisingly small--about the size of my cell phone--which was not what we expected based on our previous experiences at other establishments. Additionally, the service during our visit was below expectations. It took approximately 30 minutes for our server to initially take our order, and we were not offered a full range of beverage options beyond champagne and cider. After informing the server that I do not drink alcohol and have an allergy to cider, there was no follow-up or alternative suggestion provided. We chose Merchant based on the fantastic reviews we read, so this experience was quite disappointing for us. Thank you for taking the time to review this feedback.

The setup was pretty interesting with tables on the side and a conveyor belt with the center where the chefs are working and seating lined around that. The staff were kind and helpful in explaining how it all worked being that it was all you can eat. First, there is a menu where you can place orders with the staff for things like appetizers and drinks. We got some sodas and ordered items such as edamame, miso soup and grilled salmon teriyaki. Then in the center where the conveyor belt is, you can walk around to it and pick up plates that you want to try. It mostly seemed like nigiri and rolls that they were commonly making. In the center, the chef station is between the conveyor belt area and there you can order more specific items you want to try like a roll, sashimi or handrolls. We chose to order some different sashimi like salmon and yellowtail and handrolls like the spider and alaska. They also make a bunch of extra dishes that you can take off the shelf as well. For the price and the experience, we thought it was very enjoyable from the multitude of options to the freshness of the items.

She's seriously the sweetest, and on top of everything from bringing the food out, refilling our drinks, checking if we needed anything without being super overbearing. It seemed like she was training some of the other servers too, so if that's the case, they're in good hands. Ika Geso - Their fried calamari has been consistently good between each of the sister restaurants. The batter is light and crispy, the squid is very tender. It's a must order for us, every time! We looove the spicy mayo it comes with for dipping. Chicken Karaage - This was good! I didn't like it much when I ordered it at Tottos, but I feel like it tasted better here and the portion was much larger. Served with kewpie and a sweet sauce, this is a good snacky item, or just something to switch off with if you're eating sushi. This isn't popcorn chicken batter by any means, but the batter wasn't too heavy and the chicken was juicy! I think the karaage would be even better with the spicy mayo, so ask for that if you would prefer a less sweet dipping sauce. Sacramento Roll - I originally was going to try the Mafia but Geraldine highly recommended the Sac roll. Similar elements but the Mafia has scallops. I went with her suggestion and it was delicious. Better than my second choice! Will definitely go back and try the Mafia next time, since it's almost the same flavor profile. Red Boy Roll - This was good but not great. It has a garlicky white sauce that isn't for me. I love garlic but I don't think I like a strong garlic flavor overpowering the rest of the flavors on my roll. It wasn't a bad roll by any means, and the rice to fish ratio was good. I just didn't love it, but if you love garlicky fish, this one might be your speed. Both rolls had spicy tuna, which usually isn't spicy for me, but I think one of the rolls may have been spicier than the other. Just FYI, from a spicy eating girl, there def was a kick that came from somewhere. Black garlic ramen - I normally love this dish at Tottos, so I recommended it to my BF to order. It ended up not being so great. The ramen broth wasn't as hot as we would like and the flavor tasted a bit off. Normally the garlic flavor is strong and the broth full bodied but the broth here didn't have the normal richness we would have liked. It was okay.. but wouldn't get this again here. Everyone is on the Wasabi hype right now, but for a less busy option, I would hit up FOF. The specialty rolls do differ between each restaurant though, so just keep that in mind. Parking lot is small but it's a low traffic area off Hwy 12, so you're not going to have an issue with parking. You can order by tablets on the table or with the waitress with real menus. Apple Pay, CC and cash all accepted!
