    Doing a cold plunge!

Dr. Peter was great at explaining all of the different stations and was incredibly welcoming. We did a small group wellness retreat and everyone was throughly taken care of! Highly recommend coming by for a relaxing experience. 10/10!

It was an experience, indeed. I highly recommend everyone to do it. I now understand why they say…read moreto do it at least 3 times before making a final decision on whether you like it or not. For the first time, you don't know what to expect as you see this container with water in it. However, once you get in and you close the door, you lay back and float.. instantly. There is no need to "close your eyes" because it is that dark in there to not have to do it. You (may) will have a feeling that you your body spinning in there but you aren't. I can't explain it, but you have to remind yourself that you are supported by the water that contains 1,000lbs of Epsom salt. You can easily let your mind "freak yourself" out by wondering where the door is, but again, if you lay down the way you started the door will be at the same spot when you closed it. The Epsom salt does burn/iirritate your eyes.. So don't touch/rub your eyes once you submerge your hand in that water. There are towels to use-provided for you. You do go in with no clothes, so you are butt-ass naked, but don't worry, the couple gives you plenty of privacy to do what they instruct you to do...i.e. The shower before and after getting in. Another way of imagining how it feels to come out after 90mins is like when the character Neo (from The Matrix) discovers that he is in a pod filled with red fluid with numerous cords attached to his body. Similarly like that without the cords attached, it's just being soaked in the Epsom salt for 90mins. Again, you take a shower to wash it off.. Which it does. They also provide you earplugs so the eater won't get in your ears. I went late morning, but next time I go, I think I'm going to go in the afternoon so that I'm tired and my brain isn't going 150miles an hour, maybe get a different experience that way. We shall see. For me at least, I do feel lighter and oddly refreshed from it. So, I'm definitely going back and see what else I can discover as I float on 1,000lbs of Epsom salt!

She's also kind and has a fun sense of humor, which helps when going through the treatment procedures. After I shared my background with her, she provided me with lots of physiological information which may not be of interest to everyone but that I really appreciated. Hopefully I won't need to, but if I ever need PT again I'd definitely try to get referred here again!

I was skeptical at first…read moreand didn't want to do therapy, but my PCP always told me if I didn't like it, then I can always stop. I was also worried about missing work since I had just started a new job. The staff here was so nice and understanding about that and was able to work with my schedule. The office is located in the Aloha United Way building on the corner of North Vineyard Blvd and A'ala Street. There's a lot of parking in the building itself(make sure to check in at the security desk) and also street parking(metered.) I recently "graduated" from both pelvic floor therapy and physical therapy for my knees. At first I was seeing Julie for my pelvic floor therapy. She was so amazing with helping me figure out the cause of my pain and has taught me how to be more aware and mindful of my body. She also encouraged me to start my running journey. I had mentioned how I was thinking about signing up for some races, but I wasn't sure since I was having all that pain in my pelvic area and my history with pain in my knees. Julie encouraged me to just start running and even gave me some tips for my knee pain. I ended up running and was having problems with my knees again. My PCP sent a referral to Holomua for that as well and that's where I met Steph and Neil(the owner.) Steph and Neil helped me so much with my running journey! I learned a lot and will forever carry all this knowledge with me along my running journey. I've gotten physical therapy services elsewhere before and it didn't help. Holomua made me feel heard and didn't make me feel like I was being a "baby" about all the pain I was having. So far I've ran the King's Runner 2025, Hapalua half marathon 2025, and will be running in the Honolulu Marathon this year as well with the help of Neil's advice and words of encouragement. Julie, Steph, and Neil have been wonderful. I'd highly recommend them to friends and family in the future.

Dr. Dean Yoshimoto is AMAZING!!!…read more My mom has been suffering from extreme knee pain for some time now, and even seeing a sports medicine doctor and physical therapists back at home in Chicago, nothing was working - the pain was still there, if not more so, and there was never a clear answer or a treatment plan that was offered by any of the specialists. Here comes Dr. Yoshimoto, who literally decreased my mom's knee pain by 90% after 1 visit. Yes, you heard that right - 90%!!! He was extremely patient, kind, and really broke it down in terms of pinpointing what exactly was going on, what treatment was needed, and what exercises to do at home. He was so shocked and was left speechless that my mom was dealing with inept individuals all this time - clowns, I tell you! Unbelievable. You can tell that Dr. Yoshimoto genuinely cares for each of his patients. He's not the typical physical therapist who gives you some stretches to do, hooks you up to a muscle stimulating machine, and/or gives you a head pad and calls it a day. He actually tries to target the source of pain! I am so grateful that I was able to find him for my mom, and I was actually kind of serious when I told her that maybe she should consider moving to HI permanently, just for him. I was assigned a bunch of exercises and she did not know how to print out instructions for me. She instead uploaded them to an app instead, which had me do some basic exercise exercises for up to three minutes. When I came back ten days later (she was unavailable before then) and I asked why they were so long, she said that was incorrect, but she didn't know how to change the routine in the app. She had me go back to my previous workout routine. So in the end, some of the issues with my shoulder did go away. But honestly, it did not inspire confidence in the quality of all the therapists. I think with some you're good with others not so good.
