Planning a birthday party in NYC is no small feat. Not only do you have to worry about finding a great venue, but you consider ambiance, food & drink options, cost, etc. I've hosted my birthday at various venues across the city, but I can confidently say that hosting at Have & Meyer (for my 30th, no less) was THE BEST experience to date. From the beginning of my outreach, I felt well taken care of. Dani and Ale provided accurate and timely information regarding my party options, all with a friendly and warm tone/attitude. And the actual night, the private party room was gorgeously decorated, the food & wine fantastic and service superb! My guests were blown away by Have & Meyer and I'm incredibly grateful! I had been wanting to try this place for so long! Here are my thoughts: Overall: 3.5 (I can't figure out how to do a half star) 1. the vibes are immaculate. gorgeous seating, fun street, such a good spot for a first date or a pre-going out bite and drink 2. the best things were the wine and service. our waitress was a gem and brought out a few bottles for me to try because I know nothing about wine, which made ordering not stressful! and duh the wine was fire 3. my one qualm is that everything we got was pretty heavily olive-oiled (making that a verb). we had olives, artichokes, octopus, and the pesto pasta. it was all quite heavy, although on their own delish. so maybe this was an ordering flaw? but I could have used less olive oil to lighten it up a bit. I also wish the pasta (which had burrata, pesto, and tomato sauce) would've come pre-mixed, rather than all together. I was imagining it sort of split and then being able to taste each separately and then together, if that makes sense. it was also quite pricey for not a ton of food (but maybe that's the american in me) 4. overall would go back for a bottle of wine and an app or two! read more

Thanks to OpenTable for the suggestion! Wanted to try somewhere new on a Saturday night and had this as a recommendation; I'd hear friends raving about it though so I was excited! We were running late but they were fine when I called, tiny little restaurant so there was still a short wait for our table when we arrived. No biggie at all! We were sat & then asked to move, so we got some wine for our troubles (not mad at it at ALL) We had the prosciutto & burrata plate for an appetizer and basically inhaled it. Best prosciutto I've ever had, hands down. We also got the papardelle ragu (melt in your mouth) & the gnocchi which was really good but could use another something to it Dessert was stracciatelli gelato & creme brulee and I honestly dont even have words for how good they both were. To be fair, the ambiance is romantic and charming. The wine list is well-sourced and tasty. The service was fine. However, the overall meal was very underwhelming, especially for the cost. The sauce was bland, the pasta though advertised as fresh, was not. The specials were dull. It has the ingredients to be a good Italian food and wine bar but is missing the ingredient of "good food." And unfortunately, it's extremely over-priced for what it is, mediocre. read more

The manager squeezed five of us into the tiny bar right next to the jazz band and we loved it. Intimate and lovely, well prepared drinks and apps (try the artichcoke!) and our server Gabriella was sweet and attentive. Can't speak to full dinner in the dining room, but the bar is awesome. read more

I was eager to try this restaurant after walking by a number of times in the past but the experience unfortunately let me down. The prices are INSANELY high. I would be happy to pay for amazing food of excellent quality, but we unfortunately paid $60 for a cheese plate with two pieces each of salami, prosciutto, goat cheese, and blue cheese. One of those places that after you eat and have completed the experience you sit and look at everyone you're with and go "they are trippin" This is PEAK a restaurant you go to once and never go to again. It was just so soulless and had the vibe of a rich persons passionate-less passion project. Okay...it LOOKS pretty? What about everything else? I do not mind paying luxury prices for food, but this was chain Italian levels of quality, and gourmet servings of stingy. They gave my friends a whole burrata and prosciutto and ONE MEASLY SLICE of bread they had to cut in half to share...you had to ask AND pay $4 for extra. Now the total of that appetizer went from $28 to $32. I had the octopus which was fine but also tiny, and the the steak and potatoes. The steak was good, and the 3 tiny potato wedges they gave me for a whole steak felt laughable at this point of the meal. The service was...well there was no service. Our waiter didn't even check on us one time during our meal and took forever to do anything else. This area has incredible places to eat run by chefs and restaurateurs with passion and care for the establishments they work in. If you wanna spend this amount of money, go and make it an experience of quality that you deserve! read more

honestly this was a terrible experience. we booked a reservation for valentine's day over a month ago and was very excited since the reviews were so good. i can understand that because of valentine's day, things may not be as good as usual but still. when we got there they tried to sit us at the bar where there was absolutely no room. my boyfriend couldn't even properly sit in his chair due to it being so crowded. they moved us to a table outside that also allowed for no room. i'm a tiny person and my stomach and ribs were completely up against the table. we had to ask to move again. we finally move to another table where we can actually sit somewhat comfortable. we ordered the scallops with truffles as an app and then the filet and gnocchi cacio e pepe entrees. the scallops came out quick but had absolutely NO flavor. even the truffles tasted like nothing. we then proceeded to wait for our entrees for 50 mins as people around who were sat AFTER us already had their bills and we're paying. my cacio e pepe was also very bland and not much too it. it came out cold as well. my boyfriends filet was decent. not once did our server check on us to see how things were going. this whole experience was so terrible and we will probably never go back. we were there for a total of 2 hours and all we got was an appetizer and two entrees, no drinks. the bathroom is also disgusting. it's a shame because the ambiance is very nice, but it's not worth it. we don't mind spending a decent bit of money on food, but this was basically straight robbery. update: i ended up getting food poisoning read more

Lobster pasta: 9.5. Light delicate sauce that brings out the true flavor of the lobster Burrata and parma: 9.5. As fresh and delicious as the ingredients get. Sourdough was super fresh, bit big of a piece. Crostone w anchovies and stracciatella: 8.5 same size sourdough as the burrata. Lovely place! The decor is beautiful, even though it's outdoors only now. I live a few blocks away and I feel drawn to it every time I walk by. The wine was good quality but this place is very pricey, which is why I like going here as a date spot more than anything else. Great spot to grab a drink in Williamsburg. There is a menu outside the bar that does not match the one inside with a different name on it, which confused me a bit, but this is the spot! Just match the address to the place. What really interested me was the Coffee Old Fashioned which is with Cold Brew! Who would not want to try it? They also have freshly cut prosciutto that is sliced right at the bar. There are wine bottles everywhere as part of their decor. Came here for my anniversary last night with my girlfriend and left within 2 minutes of sitting down. Made our reservation online and selected that it was our anniversary/special occasion, but didn't seem like they cared when we got there. The whole restaurant was very small and cramped and the front section was even smaller and had tons of heat lampS in it, which is where the insisted on sitting us. We asked if we could go to a diffferent table which looked to be for 2-3 people and the host/server said "we need to save that for a bigger party" to which we replied "but it's our anniversary". We even got there early because they have a note saying if nothing is available even with your reservation you get the bar. Anywho we sat down in the heat lamp section and I was sweating within 15 seconds. So here I am, sweating bullets with my girlfriend trying to figure out where we are going to go next on our anniversary because they won't sit us at that table. We ended up making another reservation while sitting at the table for another restaurant and got up to leave. Upon getting up, the man goes "you're leaving?" To which we said "it's s our anniversarY and this is not very comfortable and you aren't able to move us to the otHer table available" to which he said nothing and let us leave. I organized a private event with 15 guests and the owners, Dani and Ale, alongside the entire crew make it as seamless as possible. From the very beginning to the end of the event they were nothing but kind and understanding. They recommended wine pairings with their extensive selection of natural wines. Obsessed! This place is worth every penny. Everyone that works here is truly Italian and the food is true Italian cuisine. I had the Bolognese and it was fantastic. The wine is very expensive starting at $16 a glass. I only enjoyed one glass but it was very good! Our server I think his name was Matteo was amazing. Reservations, reservations, reservations! This place is soooo tiny inside, but it's also adorable and comfortable for the most part. We had reservations and were running 15 mins late and called however, we were still asked to wait outside. From the looks of it, even though they said it was okay not a problem they had given our seat away. It's okay though, it wasn't a long wait. The place is a wine bar, so the wall is filled with wine bottles and very vintage / rustic feel. The kitchen is almost like a kitchen you find in an old European home, tiny. But wow, for such a small kitchen they know how to produce the goods! I got the prosciutto and buffalo for an app and the prosciutto was the best I have ever had at a restaurant. I had the lobster gnocchi which I felt the presentation was bland and rather messy. They don't place the lobster tail on top of loosely under the tail shell so it ends up being a messy dish trying to get the goods out. For dessert the the tiramisu which was very delicious. All in all, I felt this place was rather overpriced compared to some Michelin restaurants I have been to. The biggest downfall for me was my entree since I had to work for it and I don't like to work for my food!! Still a great place to check out! read more

They don't follow COVID guidelines and going to eat here is dangerous. First off, the servers are constantly taking their masks off. The amount of guests they serve always encumber the sidewalks and force pedestrians into oncoming traffic. This place is not only a terrible restaurant but a cancer to the neighborhood. The other night a server literally took his masks off, wiped his nose, put his mask back on, and then--using that same hand--served guests plates of food. I went into Have & Meyer without reading anything about it before or seeing any reviews. I happened to see a sign on the outside saying they were pouring glasses from a magnum and had to check it out. I'm so glad I did! This is definitely a quality wine bar. It has the biggest list of orange wines (a personal favorite of mine) I've ever seen on any wine list. It's even bigger than their selection of whites! They also regularly have bottles off the menu that are available. The wines that I tried here were all fantastic. The staff was incredibly friendly and willing to give recommendations. They loved talking to the customers and every single one of them I encountered knew their wine list inside out. My favorite part about this place was that all wines -- yes, ALL wines -- are available not only by the bottle but the glass. Even the $130 bottles! My one complaint is that they used the same glass for all of the tastes and glasses we had. Most wine bars, especially of this calibre, will switch out the glasses when you change wines to have a glass of or want a different taste. Also, the glasses we were given were decorated rather than traditional clear wine glasses like I saw other people getting. Otherwise though, amazing spot! Walked in without reservations Friday night, got seated anyway. That right there stunned me. I knew it was going to be great just for that bc they didn't have to! Tiny tables but we stayed forever. The service was so good and the food was delicious. Started off with burrata and salumi, got the specials (risotto with porcini; buccatini), and tiramisu and berry tart desserts. The wine selection is awesome and they can really recommend a good one of your liking. Ambiance, music, decor, also terrific. The owner was so attentive and nice. The staff were all nice. Had some melt in your mouth Iberico with a nice tart tomato jam, followed by what I expected to be a pedestrian carbonara that was anything but. I've had good carbonara. I MAKE a killer carbonara. This was transcendent. Changed what I think good pasta is. They finished me off with a tough-to-find pour of 70 proof Cynar, and I was a goner. The ambiance was pleasant, the interiors were straightforward but lovely, the wine bar was fantastic, and the service was attentive.
