We had a rough go through the building process... subs, COVID and new pool build demand on Hauk. Yes, I hired the Hauk family based on a neighbor experience and inadvertently gained 3 more builds on my street as a result of our build - What strikes me mostly by Hauk is it is a family tradition in pool builds stretching Back two generations. Recently I had an issue with our elevated jacuzzi leaking from an exterior wall. After some back and forth with the service team I was able to speak to Robby Hauk himself. Robby was an absolute professional and what one would expect when you have an issue just outside of the contract 6mos. (1year contract). When he stated he cared and gave a damn about my pool issue I believed him and I am in hopes we can resolve sooner than later... the point is it is easy to accuse and demand without knowing all the implications - Robby based on our conversation today I am reinvigorated in believing that the Hauk family will stand behind their product and do the right thing. The follow-up from Blake has been one of the worst experiences I've ever had. In July 2023, we had them come out to provide a quote for adding a hot tub/spa to our existing pool. After the on-site inspection, Blake requested the pool specs, which I sent over the same day. I even reached out to confirm he received them, and he assured me he'd work on the quote and get back to us. Fast forward to September 2024--over a year later--and I reached out again to see why we never heard back. Blake apologized, saying "the ball got dropped" after they were bought out by an equity firm. He promised to contact the person who now handles this type of work and get back to me during my 45-minute commute. Well, guess what--still no response, even after a day. I understand that mistakes happen, and I'm all for second chances, but failing to follow up twice is inexcusable. I'm glad your company has so much business that you don't need more, but I still want a hot tub--and I'll be taking my business elsewhere. Thanks for nothing but wasting my time! read more

We have had three pool company's in only 2 years. Hauk is a keeper! Our weekly pool services are done by Mason West and he does a great job! He keeps are pool looking incredible. We had Quintin come by to change out the filter and the blower pump. Our other company had not notified us we had multiple holes in every filter. Quintin showed me everything that was wrong, gave me the set pricing and came back the next day to install it. He did an amazing job. These two guys are top notch!! Hauk Custom Pools does great work at a competitive price! We had Tim Ryan as our sales guy and he did an excellent job at customizing the design to fit our needs as a growing family, as well as being able to maximize the design features within our backyard space. He was able to incorporate existing covered patio structure seamlessly into the pool/spa/kitchen/fire pit combo and we couldn't be happier. Tim was very responsive during the sales process and always made my wife and I comfortable during the entire process -- highly recommend Tim! During the construction phase, Sammy Trevino was our project manager -- he treated our home like it was his own, and was willing to go above and beyond to make sure all of our needs were met. While there were a few hiccups during pool equipment installation, gas line extensions into the fire pit and outdoor grill, etc., Sammy was always willing to hear our concerns and make it right. While we are extremely pleased with the finished product, I would highly encourage others to stay on top of their subcontractors and tie off regularly with your project manager. Ultimately, Hauk delivered above and beyond what was covered in the contract and was willing to make sure that we (along with our adjacent neighbors) were totally satisfied with the workmanship - from start to finish. Highly recommend Sammy Trevino as a project manager. We bid out Hauk against two other pool companies in the area, and we are so happy we chose them -- not only for the design they delivered which has transformed our backyard living space, but also for the high quality of material and overall workmanship! read more

Look elsewhere. They will design a good pool but the build / communication is poor. 3 years later and the grout and stone around pool edge are all loose and need to be redone. Don't get pebble-tech, not worth it (or needed) and rough on your feet. Keep it simple. Get everything in writing or they won't honor it. Said my backyard would be the same as they found it, then charged me for a pallets of grass on side-yard since they only cover partial replacement. This was caused by mini haulers running over the grass on the side-yard when installing pool equipment. I could go on, but my suggestion is to ask around about other pool companies. read more

STAY AWAY FROM Hauk Custom pools. First off I'm not one to post negative reviews unless something is horrible. Hauk built our pool in spring/summer 2018. We had a few pavers than needed placed as they were chipped, no big deal. Then the diving board almost fell into the pool as they did not create a deep enough and solid enough pad for it to sit on, this was fixed. Then during 2018 we began to see settlement of pavers on one side where there was a deep trench dug. I asked for this to be re-leveled and was told to wait 6 months so that it would settle out. So in January of 2019 I began the long process of communicating with Hauk to relevel pavers. In January of 2020, they releveled a small area and areas where they broke pavers during the releveling they replaced the grey pavers with brown ones. Robbie came our reviewed the situation and said they would fix things. Now today after two more paver companies coming out to look I am told they won't fix or change anything. So good luck on any warranty work from Hauk. read more

I'd like to rate this pool company a 10. The professionalism is beyond amazing. We had a personal issue and had to cancel our pool. I was informed they had already applied for permits, and would of been charged to cancel. After speaking with Robby(owner)he stated no, I would not need to pay for anything. He even stated he would apply a credit for our deposit should we return. I told him no way, that deposit is yours. Just because of how he treated us. We sat on the phone for about 45 minutes just talking. I truly appreciated how he dealt with me. I feel compelled to leave this review. I have always known Hauk to be a great pool company, but now I see Robby is a great businessman and person. He understood we had to do what was right for my family financially. 725/17 (update) in the 19 months my pool has been built they have replaced the Jandi lights at least 10 times and one is currently on order to be replaced. The spa heater has not worked correctly for 2 months. We have had 3 technicians come to fix it and each time they say it's fixed but when we go to use it, it doesn't heat up. Hopefully the 4th visit will fix the heater. It's crazy - I don't understand why they can't fix a product they recommended and installed. The only thing worse then the construction process is your lack of ability to fix what you built. 1/28/16 I was expecting a higher level of service based on reviews and was very disappointed. Promises by Peter were missed after multiple assurances. We loved his design work however my vision was compromised during construction due to lack of communication and failure to share key placement changes due to zoning ordinances. This forced us to making last minute decisions during construction. Some sub contractors were amazing however they were overshadowed by several who were not detail oriented and required multiple visits to fix poor workmanship. They missed our completion deadline due to saturation in the number of pools and poorly timing construction and this had little to do with weather. Stuart the project manager did a phenomenal job but his professionalism can't compensate for all the miss fires and failures from the Hauk Pool experience. read more

If I could give 0 stars, I would! Our experience with Hauk Pools has been an utter nightmare, which began on March 1st when we made our first payment.... and unfortunately is still not over. We should have known then that delays and frustrations were ahead when it took 53 days from payment to excavation! Besides ridiculous amounts of delays and poor communication/follow-through, we dealt with 4 weeks of run-arounds on correcting the drainage plan - wherein they piped all our deck runoff to the SIDEWALK (not through the curb to the street, just out to the sidewalk where it floods every time it rains). And, we are still waiting for them to correct the destruction of our pre-existing french drain that we had installed a few months before they began their work. Additionally, I have a fence that was put on backwards and a gate that is broken and won't close properly (all thanks to the incompetence of Hauk Pools sub-contractors). Finally, the day prior to our plaster work being completed we were informed that we shouldn't use the plaster company that they had originally recommended because they were having problems warrantying their product. It took days to get other options and prices (and, of course now it would be more expensive). We are currently still waiting for a plaster date because we have a "bigger pool that requires 2 crews" and the new recommended plaster company considers our order a "special order". We are nearly 6 months from our initial payment and 30 days from our final payment being made. Our budget has ballooned multiple times without proper notice or agreement - for example, they came out prior to a day of rain to do a "pre-flash" of gunite and apparently this cost us an extra $800 (no mention or discussion of additional cost until our final payment was due). Worst of all has been the interaction (or lack thereof) with our Project Manager Kyle. He is non-communicative, has no customer service skills whatsoever and has made it clear on multiple occasions that we and our pool are an inconvenience to him. If I can persuade you in any way with my experiences...DO NOT USE HAUK POOLS!!! read more

Hauk completed our new pool about a month ago. Started the day after Labor Day, during the wettest September and October on record. These guys persevered through all of the weather challenges in a timely manner, finishing the project in the time window they had first set. The designer Tim Ryan, created a wonderful plan. Site Manager Sammy Trevino, and their team of artisans brought the design to Life! As with any new pool builds, there were challenges to overcome, and Hauk handled them with courtesy and professionalism. My wife and I are very happy with the finished product! My Experience... I started this project in September of 2020. Once I signed on the dotted line and gave them my deposit I never heard from my sales person again. Many times I tried to call him but never a answer. I should have know that there would be MANY problems when my dig occurred in early November and sat with nothing being done until 8 weeks later. Hauk then charged me $800.00 to remove the dirt which caved into the pool. I had existing travertine under my backyard patio cover, I asked that the pool travertine match. I was out of town when they started to install therefore when I returned and saw the difference I asked that Robby Hauk to come out and evaluate the situation. He clearly stated it did not match and needed to be demo. The next day a demo team removed the 6 month old existing travertine. I asked Robby when the tile guys would be there to complete the job his response was "at least three months - they are very busy" I told him that was not acceptable... in response he said "give me $5,000 in $100 bills and I'll have them here in a week". I had to do it in order to have my decking match and completed. Lastly, they did not run the drain to the street but rather to the middle of my yard leading to the curb. I have a flood every time it rains or my sprinklers run. I could go on and on about the empty promises Hauk Made, the additional cost after the contract was signed and the very poor communication. Robbie Hauk has been a customer of mine in a different industry for several years. So for this reason I decided to go with his pool company. Huge mistake. For a year and a half they have promised to honor their warranty and fix my brick pool decking. For a year and a half I have heard nothing but excuses. Spend your money somewhere else. read more

From my perspective, the greatest testament to the quality of a pool builder is when you buy a 2nd pool from them. We are almost through with our new pool which is #2 with Hauk Custom Pools. We built our first pool in the summer of 2016 and Hauk did an outstanding job. Braulio Duran designed an amazing pool and outdoor living space that was the jewel of our neighborhood. The build was great and even when we encountered challenges, the Hauk team made everything move along smoothly. The pool design was free form with a mossy rock/flat rock water feature and it fit our house perfectly. In the spring of 2019, we bought a new custom home in McKinney and had a couple of pool companies bid out a new pool for us. Our new house is a bit more contemporary and let me just say, Braulio designed the perfect pool that fit our house like they were all done at the same time. Braulio has partnered with Seth, our project manager and the pool should be done later this month. These guys are A+ and I would absolutely recommend you use them. Hauk did a terrific job. Communication sometimes got lost in translation, but Sammy is definitely the life saver. When things were a little questionable, Sammy assured me that not only is he aware of it, but that it's already being corrected (typical construction bumps, nothing big). We had to remind ourselves that this IS a construction site, but Hauk worked around some of our requests during construction which made the 2 month duration easier to handle, and the end result is better than I expected! While we have a few things on our check list to be completed still, I am thoroughly enjoying my back yard and it's WINTER (yes, it's winter)! Called to have some additional work done in our back yard since staying home has become the new normal. They came out, looked at the project and said they would get back with a quote. A week later and no communication, sent texts with no response. Finally texted who I assumed was the lead estimator and his response was they are really busy and backed up and good luck. I would have been fine if they said it will be a week before we get back to you but how can you trust a company to do a job when they won't even give you a price. I would certainly think in these times a 20k job would be nice to have. Wish them all the best but there are a lot of companies that would love to have the work. read more

We just finished building a Pool with Hauk and are extremely satisfied with the work done. It is a huge investment when looking to build a pool and nerve-wracking to pick a company when there is such a large financial investment. We started the process with Peter, and although he no longer works for the company, did an amazing job designing a pool that gave us a beautiful pool within our budget. We had several other companies do drawings as well, but nothing came close to the Hauk design and price. We were well informed about what our options were as well as given accurate pricing for everything. Once construction started we were assigned to Seth for our construction manager. He was AMAZING to work with!! His communication was incredible, as he always responded quickly to text messages, came out whenever I needed anything and always addressed any concerns in a timely manner. On a project this size there are always going to be things that aren't done right the first time, however, I never felt like there were any corners that were cut. I also felt like every issue that arose (and there were only 2) were addressed in a timely way, and they always took responsibility and made it right. Thank-you!! Seth was fun to work with as well as very knowledgeable about the process and the design. He did a great job! We would build another pool with Hauk in a heartbeat! Great job on design and follow-through! The crews they used were extremely hard-working and skilled. The only piece of advice I would give to someone about to build a pool is to have patience. The process took about 90 days of construction and we only had people working on the pool maybe 30 of those days. So, just know that they have to juggle crew schedules, weather set-backs, etc., but that is just part of the process. So worth it now that we get to swim every day! This is the first review I have ever given. 3 months ago, I drove to Hawk and said I would give them another chance before writing a review as I was fed up. Clay Hawk drove to my property the next day and promised to fix everythig immediately. To this date, we are still waiting on completion. I am incredibly disappointed in Hawk Custom Pools. We loved the sales pitch and design of the pool. The build process was, and STILL is a nightmare. We started build in April and as stated above, at the time of this post, there are still jobs that are not complete. The plumbers have now come out 5 times as 1 of the spa jets has never worked, and it is still the same as day one. They have had to re-design and re-lay our pavers as "sales" did not design it properly. It has now been 6 months since our pool has been filled with water and we still are missing 2 of the travertine steps. The time I have spent contacting (calling/texting and driving to their office) to get updates, instead of me being kept up to date is hands down the most annoying part of this process. read more

My experience with Hauk's staff has been HORRIBLE, with the exception of the construction supervisor. Salesman dropped the ball at the very beginning of the process which pushed back permitting and beginning of project. Almost 3 months passed from contract to dig, and some documents I needed for HOA were never delivered so I had to create them myself. First day of dig we found many errors on the plan which had been given to the dog crew. Thankfully the construction manager was on site and these were fixed before we got too far along. Actual build was acceptable. Never easy to live in a construction zone, but no major issues. Since water was put in pool and they got their last check from me, I've pretty much been ignored. It has been about six weeks and the project is dragging on. I get no response from any leadership at Hauk that I've tried to contact or the salesman. Other staff says they've turned in work order. But no work is being done. We are now OVER SIX MONTHS since I signed a contract and paid a deposit and still not able to enjoy what we had thought would be our backyard oasis. I'm wondering if this review will get them to pay attention. read more

A Hauk rep came to my house the first week of March to discuss our pool environment. Next steps were to be design proposal one week later. This aligned with when the lockdown started so I was not concerned when I did not hear from our rep. In May, as Dallas was reopening I reached out to my rep to see if we'd be able to connect and review the design proposal. He did reply but with no set time to provide proposal, I received a "yea, I'll get that to you" vague sort of reply. When I never heard back I followed up THREE more times, no replies to any of those. I guess Hauk has so much business that they could just blow off customers. I'd caution anyone on working with them since they clearly lack professionalism. read more

Hello - After calling Hauk on Friday and speaking with someone in Sales (...which was the only way I was able to get through to someone at the office) my husband was finally able to speak with someone to let them know that our pump had stopped working. We were told someone would be out to take a look today between 10am and 11am. As of now, no one has shown up and we have not heard from anyone. I have left a message today for someone to call. We are going on 3 days without a pump. We just had our pool built end of December so are very concerned about our pump already being an issue. We also have an led light out in our hot tub and was told last week it was being ordered and may be installed in two weeks. Prior to that, we had another issue with our spa jet and it took several phone calls made by my husband and I followed by many rescheduled appts by the technician before finally getting it fixed. This is all very frustrating as our sales and build experience with Hauk was wonderful (see review below) but service and equipment reliability, after the fact, has been less than satisfactory. Asking for assistance via Yelp as I understand this is reviewed daily by Hauk. Hoping someone will see this and give us a call back as we would appreciate an update as soon as possible. We recently finished building a pool with Hauk and were quite pleased with them, especially our "pool guy" - the designer, the sales man, 'problem-solver in chief' - Tim Ryan. His design met our vision right out of the gate in the very first iteration. More importantly, after the work began he didn't just wash his hands of us - he was available throughout the building process to resolve any issues that came up - unlike most sales guys across industries. I'm having to take Dan Paz to small claims court for fraud. He is NOT licenced for installing solar heating for pools, tried to tell me I had 9 broken tiles and charging an additional 800.00 to repair (I knew it was false because I just had my roof repaired). I had another roofer come and take a look and he found only one (the one his brother broke while installing panels). The panel blew off withing 15 min of leaving the house causing damage to my plants/trees. Was drilling into the tile while huricane clips are the preferred method and installed a 1HP motor when at least 3 needed to pump up to the roof. Hawk pool is a scam, i canceled the job and he would not return my money. His brother Alex (roofer) is a con too, would never recommend them to anyone. I will post the results of the small claims court case when done. read more

Hauk Custom Pools Buyers BEWARE!!! We purchased a Hauk custom pool that was completed in August of 2018. By April 2019, 8 months later, the tiles on our spillway started coming off. We immediately called in and reported the issue and Hauk sent out a tile crew to fix the problem. They affixed the tile back onto the spillway as a warranty repair with no cost to us. A month later it fell off again along with some more tile. I called and put in another warranty request. No one responded. We called over and over and were told a work order was in and that the tile company was backlogged. In the meantime more and more tiles were falling off. In June we spoke to Robby Hauk, the owner of the company. He informed us that glass tile was NOT under warranty and that we were lucky that we got the initial tile worked on for free. He came out and looked at the broken spillway and told us to come in and choose new tile. At this point he told us all glass tile was NOT covered by warranty and to choose a porcelain tile instead which is "much more durable." We chose a new tile and heard nothing back until August at which point we were told it would cost us $5,000 to replace and fix the tile!!!!! We have had several other pool companies come and look at our pool. They told us that the glass tile is not the issue. They said that Hauk installed the tile incorrectly resulting in a bond failure. We told that to Robby Hauk who laughed at us. These two tile companies quoted us $2,800 to rip out the glass tile and replace it with the EXACT same porcelain tile and EXACT grout we picked out at Hauk. Why won't Hauk fix a tile failure 8 months after a $100,000 pool was built and why would Hauk after refusing to honor an installation warranty almost double the cost to install all new tile? It is a poor installation issue not a glass tile issue. Note that Hauk promotes over half the tile options as glass in their showroom, in fact it's an upgrade charge. The customer service and owner integrity at Hauk have been downright laughable. The tiles on the top spillway are all loose about to fall off. Do not trust your pool build with Hauk Custom Pools! They won't have your back when warranty issues occur! read more
