Went to Hat Creek for the first time today. Ordered two basic burger and fries. The food was not given to me at an appropriate temperature, the fries were lukewarm. Not a good first impression. The burgers were okay, but did not taste fresh. I would say they are on par with junk food outlets, but more expensive. We will give them one more shot in a while. We definitely have other choices for good burgers at the Hat Creek price. read more

This place is delicious! My boyfriend suggested this place and I was not too excited about it. It is now my top five burger places I've been to and I keep craving it. I hate writing this review, Because I NEVER write bad reviews. Several things here. Went to try for first time, ordered 2 Burgers (Signature and Classic Burger) w/Fries and Tater tots & 2 drinks. $30+. It Took 18 minutes to get my food, and that was after going up to the counter to ask where my food is. Then we sit down and the Signature burger has only cheese on it. So I take it back and let the manager know and now I am waiting at least another 5 minutes at the counter for the corrected burger while the food back at my table is getting cold. Manager says she will bring it out to me. At that point the manager hands me a $5 gift card. I did tell her that I was not impressed so far. I wanted to see how she would handle this situation. She seems like a nice lady but she just did not know how to make this right. So, now we are eating the burgers and we were really disappointed. These are fast food burgers and the price point is way out of whack in comparison to their competitors in Katy. The patties are frozen, or at least looked like they were. For this price you better be using fresh ground beef. The fries and tater tots were small portions and no better than any other fast food place. I really feel bad for this place and the owner. I know this is not his vision. The building looked expensive to build and I know the land was not cheap. I am worried this place may have a tough time. For this price point they are going to have to make the experience better and they are going to have to make the service exceptional to make up for the below average food. Ehhh..... it's a burger. Honestly nothing to write home about except that it cost three times what I would have paid across the street at Wendy's, just as fresh, better lettuce (I had mine on lettuce to stay GF). But $15!!!! Yikes. I could get a better deal at Willy's Burger in Old Katy or BurgerBus in Cinco would have flavor, the ingredients would be amazing, and I could have had fresh onion rings at the same price if not cheaper. Sorry but if you're doing $15, I would expect it to be Wagyu or something and taste like more than a fast food burger. Sorry, won't be back. Cheese tasted plasticy and was NOT freshly grated cheddar as was advertised. I know the difference. Sauces sucked. Canes got them beat there as well. Iced tea wasn't even tasty either. I love the food and it has always been a place I look forward to. I love the burgers fries and specially the sauces that come with them. But last time I was there I really got disappointed by the bad service. I felt like the employee taking my order did not want to be there at all. I asked for a normal burger but with chicken instead of beef and they made a whole big deal out of it. So tried Hat Creek For the first time at the Katy Location. Young lady at front was pleasant and helpful being my first time. She explained options on burgers and sides. Unless you get one of the five (5) pre-selected burger packages everything is A-La-Cart. Meal ordered was: Single ($4.99) W/cheese ( cheese wasn't melted still cold) charged $0.79 extra Lettuce (one see thru piece) Pickles (thick cut and good) Onions(none requested, none gotten) Mayonnaise (good) Mustard (didn't make it to burger had to ask after) Ketchup (didn't make it to burger had to ask after) Burger was small and overcooked, bun was burnt on bottom(must be a signature thing) Small (20OZ) drink ($2.49) come on really, it's okay I stayed and drank fifteen refills so I felt I got my money's worth on the overprice cost for a soda. *Small string fries with seasoning ($2.49) ample amount and best deal of meal, good seasoning and warm. Food came out relatively quickly. Food was mediocre at best and at $11.65 for the meal, a bit over priced. The restaurant is awkwardly setup, small in door dining area, twice the size outdoor seating (they do know we live in Houston right), floor looks dirty but after review it was the paint flaking and coming up: the rest of the restaurant looked clean. Nice play area for small children. Customer service was great at the front even if the peeps in the back got it wrong. They did offer to remake the burger, just had them give me packets. Coming to Houston, I was excited to come to a hat creek, and experience the fresh food. However I am rating this hat creek a 3 because of the cashier. She tried and asked for help many times, when the system crashed but manager wouldn't help her. I give the manager on duty a 1. She was more worried about drive thru then helping her cashier solve an issue. There was a line forming as she was trying to figure it out. & people leaving because they didn't want to wait. When the manager finally came over she was very arrogant and didn't want to try to figure out the issue. She just pushed it over and told her we would figure it out later. My sister in Christ and I visited Hat Creek for her daughter's 4th birthday. It was totally unplanned. She called the store first and spoke to Karen to ask what measures were in place for COVID and whether the outdoor play area is sanitized. Upon having the information we needed, we decided to go here. I have been several times with my son and have always gotten good customer service. There is usually and older gentleman working the window. Tonight was my first time inside and my sister's first time there ever. We got in line and Karen took our order. She was patient and explained everything about the menu to my sister. We ordered food for The Littles (the kiddos) and our food. Karen offered to put the cake in the fridge since it was so hot outside so it would not melt. Additionally, she helped bring our things outside to the table since we had our hands full. She tied the balloons to the table and even took our pictures. She shared with us her love for working at Hat Creek and that she was formerly a paramedic and now a grandmother to an inquisitive 1 year old. She was a joy to talk to and took care of everything we needed. We watched her bring food to other patrons, and despite knowing that I still felt like we were her only customers although we evidently were not. She made everyone feel special. I never give reviews on food. I also give positive feedback and I'm a tell it to your face kind of person, but this deserves writing. Chick Fil A has great customer service--but watch out. Hat Creek will give them a run for their money. The inside was spotless, the food is always fresh and now I can say the people are amazing! I'm familiar with hat creek in San Marcos / South Austin, and never had an issue with the burgers. Went around 5:10ish, and ended up getting a big hat, little hat, an el jefe can, and a strawberry milkshake. Strawberry milkshake was AMAZING. Absolutely amazing. My burger had issues, and the bun felt stale. When eating my burger, I had to chew more than usual to get through the bun. The bun was so beyond stale, that I had to grind my teeth to rip it. read more

Our experience at this establishment was about as bad as it could be - the food was not good, and it certainly was NOT worth the premium prices. Not one person in our party finished their meal. The burgers weren't prepared as well as the local fast food establishments, but they charged nearly as much as a premium establishment for a comparatively smaller portion. The kids meal (hot dog) was so repulsive to the children, and the manager attempted to make things better by bringing out chicken strips on the house. Well, let's just say our entire table felt that the chicken strips resembled fish in every possible way. The hamburger market is beyond saturated.
