Stopped on a Thursday afternoon. It was quiet but it is the restaurants "first day of the week". Our waitress was very attentive and offered suggestions on the menu. Service was fast, food was delicious and hot when we received it. There looks to be a nice patio area, and we will definitely have to stop again when the weather is nice. Delicious BBQ in a nice space. Has indoor and outdoor seating. Bar features beer, three kinds of wine and some seltzers. The food is just delicious! We love everything here - the ribs, pulled pork, brisket and every side. I highly recommend the hush puppies. Prices are reasonable and we had no trouble getting a parking spot on the street. Stopped in the other night for dinner with my daughter. There is street parking and a little parking lot in the back. Plenty of seating inside and some spots outside. Our server Daniel I believe his name was, was great and checked on us non stop. I started off with the Chicken & Sausage Gumbo, it was a little different than normal gumbo but was really good. Than got the Half Pulled Pork & Half Beef Brisket Dinner with Mac & Cheese. The BBQ sauce is a little on the tangy side for my liking but the meat was cooked perfect. My daughter got the Ribs with Mac & Cheese. The ribs were fall off the bone amazing. The Mac & Cheese tasted like it was a very sharp white cheddar cheese which was very good. This is a nice restaurant with a cozy feeling. Many pictures of pigs on the wall and other art work. The business is clean, friendly, good portion of food.... Although, the food was not spicy enough for BBQ but understandable for the location of keeping it middle of the road with spicy. The atmosphere was also a plus as we were able to talk through our family meal. The spirits were strong and not watered down. Hidden gem! This place is honestly one of the best BBQ spots that I have EVER had. Happened to be in the area for a basketball tourney and happened to find this place before heading back home after a busy weekend. I had low expectations. Beautiful courtyard and restaurant. Parking is limited but there is street parking, more on Main Str than the side streets. 1st time here. Got take out. A platter consisting of a protein and two sides. I had the pulled pork with red potato salad and Cole slaw. Hubby had chicken with Mac and cheese and collard greens. We split a generous sized brownie. Sides are made in house, all were mediocre. Collards were watery. Mac and cheese dry and flavorless. Cole slaw was very running. Potato salad was bland. Hubby wished chicken had more of a smoked flavor. I liked my pork, but it was missing the smokiness. Surprisingly they only had two BBQ sauce choices, hot and mild. Was expecting more variety. While the pork portion was enough for two meals, the chicken was on the smaller side. It had a nice snap and excellent flavor, surpassing my usual expectations for sausage. 7/10 * Collard Greens: Very flavorful and well-prepared. 8/10 * Onion Rings: My favorite side dish. They were almost perfect and definitely worth trying. 9/10 * Cornbread: A large, moist, crumbly portion with a sweet overtone, almost cake-like. As a Southern gentleman, I prefer cornbread without sugar, but considering the portion size and moisture, it's decent. 5/10 * Sauces: Tomato-based, available in mild or spicy. The spicy version wasn't particularly hot, just with a slight kick. Good but not remarkable. 6/10 I wish Yelp allowed half-star ratings because Harvey's BBQ is better than a 4-star but not quite a perfect five-star establishment. Sit on the patio; you won't be disappointed. While they were rated the best BBQ in PA by yelp ( I would say might be one or two better) would definitely stop by again if I'm in the area. I believe certain foods are difficult for folks to make and barbeque is one of them. I've been to many bbq restaurants/chains as well and you'll get a heap of meat, but it'll be dry and I'm thinking they're thinking, the sauce will make up for the dryness of the meat Or it will be over-smoked and all you taste is smoke. This was not the case for Harvey's. I felt the meat was tender, flavorful (even without the sauce). The sauce was good, but not addictingly good. The side salad was super fresh with a scrumptious honey mustard salad dressing but out of my sides, I will say the corn bread (upcharge of $1.5) was superb! Went here on a whim, looking for a place for lunch. Was able to park right out front there is street parking. The establishment is HUGE. There is indoor and outdoor seating. For $15, we shared a meal and got the large sandwich with no bun and had 2 sides. Went with the side salad, which came with some very good homemade ranch and some very cheesy flavored mac and cheese with a dinner roll and butter. The taste of everything was very good. The pork only came with a slight bit of bbq sauce on it. It really had to add your own. I do like a place with more sauce options. You only had two to pick from original and spicy. I mixed the original and some of the extra ranch together, and it was awesome. On the way out, I grabbed a huge browine for $2, and it was very good. I would go back and try another meat. read more

We have an assortment of ribs and chicken along with various sides. Service was great. I liked the ribs, which came with a rub and a little sauce. Everyone else had chicken. My brother got a rib and chicken combo. They all loved the chicken and the ribs. The baked beans were thick and delicious. Coleslaw was very good. Cornbread was disappointing. It was dry and came wrapped in plastic. I just don't believe any restaurant should put something wrapped in plastic wrap on a dinner plate. As to the bbq sauce, they offer a mild and a spicy version. There's a mustard and vinegar taste that I think clashes with the ribs. They don't have a sweet sauce. Not sure why. The server said a number of people have asked for it. Anyway, we enjoyed the meal. Harvey's BBQ is a local staple. They're at many of the local fairs and have had a physical location for many years now instead of just catering. I am personally not a huge fan of their food. It's good, but I don't find it great. I appreciate meat that has a good rub and firm flavor on its own merit. Harvey's seems to rely heavily on their sauces to provide that extra flavor. It is an award winning BBQ, though! So while it might not be for everyone, some people sure do love it. read more

My sisters both had the pulled pork sandwiches very good and their onion rings were very good, whole onion not minced. The service was friendly and helpful answering our questions, thanks Danni. Not rushed and checked on us frequently. From the outside it doesn't look like much but inside is nice. Parking in rear and outdoor seating as well. Dining area and bathroom were clean and handicapped accessible as is the restaurant. Quiet area but it was a Monday. They also do takeout which looked busy. The food is just OK. Got the Half and Half dinner. The pulled pork was dry and the pieces of brisket that came in my dinner was very fatty. I understand prices are high for food businesses these days, but my half & half with the brisket, pulled pork, potato salad and baked beans was a fair price at $20. However we also bought a SMALL brisket sandwich and it cost $17!!! The sandwich is also described as coming with a pickle. What we got was a SLICE of a pickle. It's time for Top Ten at Harvey's Main Street BBQ. Ready? 10) This place has a gorgeous interior and quite spacious. I was shocked when I walked inside. I think I must have said, "Wow" about 10 times to the staff and my kids. 9) Harvey's Main Street BBQ was voted the #1 place for BBQ by Lancaster Newspaper. 8) All of their sides are house-made and all of their meats are smoked in-house. 7) The service is friendly, prompt and perfect so far. 6) The Decision Maker is a great pile of meat! It's a great way to sample most everything they serve. All of the meats were moist, tender and smoky. My favorite was the chicken, with brisket close behind. I might be in the minority, but the ribs were probably my least favorite. They were a bit overdone and I'm not a fan of St. Louis Style Spare Ribs. But all in all, I was quite impressed. 5) They have two different BBQ Sauce: regular and spicy. The first one tasted like currants maybe? And the second like cherry? Their sauce is quite tangy and not very sweet. Just something about them I didn't love. But if you do--you'll be happy to know that you can buy their sauce at these local stores: The Country Store in Mt. Joy, Darrenkamp's in Mt. Joy and E-town, and Groff Meat in E-town. 4) In case you didn't know, they have a parking lot in the back, so you don't have to park on the street. 3) I think Harvey's is the best restaurant in Mount Joy. 2) Harvey Schademan is THE Harvey's BBQ--owner and Pitmaster. He's been doing this since 1986 (along with his wife Stephanie), although it started out at a roadside stand and fairs. 1) The wooden pig in the restaurant is the BBQ Mascot--Miss Cantaloupe. High hopes met with complete and utter overpriced disappointement!! The brisket was extremely fatty and incredibly dry. I was expecting pulled brisket not sliced. The menu didn't specify. There was hardly any of what they consider "BBQ sauce" served on a dry long roll that is not ever used in any Real BBQ I've eaten down south. I had to pick it apart to remove the fat. When I was done it all fit in the same size container as the side dishes. The only one who enjoyed it was the dog. I requested a container of a spicier sauce on the side, but didn't receive it. I actually had to run to the store to buy sauce to make it edible. The Mac n cheese was bland and tasted like it was out of the box. The potato salad was either expired or doused in vinegar. It tasted metallic and none of us could stomach more than one bite, we threw it away as a precaution. The portion size on the sides are extremely small for the price. The coleslaw was bland but edible. The nachos were a big mess and used processed cheese. I should have known better to order when we saw nachos even listed on a BBQ menu. Another menu red flag was only one generic "BBQ sauce" as a choice without a spicier option. After anxiously awaiting to visit them on their limited schedule I now understand why they aren't open full time. The people that enjoy their food have Never eaten authentic southern BBQ regardless of the style or haven't gotten their taste buds back since covid. Short of them getting new chefs I would never spend another dime there. Even fast food "Swadley's BBQ" is 100% better.
