Menus are always important when trying a place for the 1st time

This is a nice restaurant with a cozy feeling. Many pictures of pigs on the wall and other art work. The business is clean, friendly, good portion of food.... Although, the food was not spicy enough for BBQ but understandable for the location of keeping it middle of the road with spicy. The atmosphere was also a plus as we were able to talk through our family meal. The spirits were strong and not watered down. Stop in and let me know how you pallet like red the food and also be sure to just take a walk afterwards.

    The Decision Maker meal.

We had the Decision Maker that had all of the meats and two sides. Delicious! The meat was tender, juicy, and flavorful. Best barbecue meal I've had. The ribs at Corner Stable used to be our favorite; Now Harvey's is.

Hidden gem! This place is honestly one of the best BBQ spots that I have EVER had. Happened to be in the area for a basketball tourney and happened to find this place before heading back home after a busy weekend. I had low expectations. But wow, what a pleasant surprise from the great service, the vibe, all top notch. The food was amazing, place was spacious. Prices were reasonable and food was incredible. I highly recommend this place and I will be back during my next trip out to Spooky Nook

Harvey's BBQ, Mount Joy, PA: A Dining Experience Not to Miss If you find yourself at Harvey's BBQ on a beautiful day, make sure to dine in their outdoor courtyard. The picturesque setting significantly enhances the overall dining experience. Should the weather turn chilly, the indoor area is equally inviting, featuring a cozy fireplace in one of the rooms. The courtyard alone makes it worth a visit, easily a 4-star experience. Parking is convenient, with ample spaces available behind and beside the building if street parking is full. The service at Harvey's BBQ is exceptional--attentive, friendly, and efficient. The portion sizes and value are excellent. I tried the "Decision Maker," which includes ribs, brisket, Cajun sausage, chicken, and a couple of sides. It's a hearty meal that can easily satisfy two hungry men. Now, onto the important part--the BBQ: * Ribs: Although smaller and overcooked by my standards (they didn't leave a bite mark), the flavor was excellent--juicy and tender, falling off the bone. Most diners will love them! 6/10 * Chicken: Well-cooked and dipped in a flavorful smoky mustard sauce. Moist and enjoyable. 6/10 *Pulled Pork: Perfectly cooked, moist, juicy, flavorful, good amount of bark mixed throughout, in my opinion best meat on the tray. 8/10 * Brisket: As a seasoned brisket enthusiast who has sampled brisket at approximately 400 different BBQ restaurants, I found it better than most commercial spots. It didn't pass the KCBS judging pull test but was still a solid offering. 7/10 * Cajun Sausage: This was a pleasant surprise. It had a nice snap and excellent flavor, surpassing my usual expectations for sausage. 7/10 * Collard Greens: Very flavorful and well-prepared. 8/10 * Onion Rings: My favorite side dish. They were almost perfect and definitely worth trying. 9/10 * Cornbread: A large, moist, crumbly portion with a sweet overtone, almost cake-like. As a Southern gentleman, I prefer cornbread without sugar, but considering the portion size and moisture, it's decent. 5/10 * Sauces: Tomato-based, available in mild or spicy. The spicy version wasn't particularly hot, just with a slight kick. Good but not remarkable. 6/10 I wish Yelp allowed half-star ratings because Harvey's BBQ is better than a 4-star but not quite a perfect five-star establishment. Sit on the patio; you won't be disappointed. While they were rated the best BBQ in PA by yelp ( I would say might be one or two better) would definitely stop by again if I'm in the area. Even if the food were subpar, the service and patio would make up for it. Tell them BBQ America Big E! sent you. Back on the road again, looking to visit 500 BBQ shacks around the world!

    Quarter Chicken Meal

Harvey's was a great find on our trip to the Lancaster Pennsylvania area! ~the service (5/5)~ The place itself was quite large and we were quickly seated on a weekend night! Our servers were attentive and kind - no complaints here! ~the food (5/5)~ I got the quarter chicken meal. The side salad was super fresh with a scrumptious honey mustard salad dressing but out of my sides, I will say the corn bread (upcharge of $1.5) was superb! Would definitely recommend getting it to eat with some of their baked beans (a tad too sweet for my taste, but still delicious!). The chicken was quite delicious and the bbq sauce was also quite good- you get a choice between a spicy and non-spicy bottle at your table which I liked!

It came with 4 chops and a strange side that couldn't be quite identified. It was sort of like a bread product shaped like a triangle, very dry and an unpleasant texture for us. The excellent chop saved the day. One main course was the pork ribs. The serving was very generous, the meat so tender it literally did fall off all the bones, and the smoky flavor quite good. The pulled pork sandwich was generously filled and had the same smoky flavor. The sides chosen were potato salad and beans. The beans were okay but did taste like canned ones and had very little meat in them. The potato salad was fine for those who like theirs with big chunks of potato, but we prefer a smoother potato. It was a disappointment. The desserts chosen were both a huge disappointment. The peach cobbler tasted like canned peaches and had a very off-putting flavor. The apple bread pudding was literally almost all bread and had far too large chunks of the bread rather than preferred small pieces. As for the apple, it could not be tasted at all and we only found one very small piece of apple in the large serving. I will say that the Cinnamon ice cream that came with the pudding was delicious and at least gave us one decent sweet item. All in all, we might try again (especially for the lamb chops) but will not be in any hurry.

Dave was very timely during the delivery and even brought chafing dishes to keep the food warm. We went off menu and ordered "trays/lbs" of food. The pulled pork and chicken were amazing. We have a chef in my group that is picky about bbq and he was raving. The wings also had an excellent crisp to the outside. We had an employee try the sweet potato souffle for the first time and loved the "dessert" option :) Very happy to support this local business.

We walked in and it is open seating, we sat at a high top in the bar area and the bartender/waitress was pretty sassy with us. I asked how the wing order process works, can I mix sauces etc. and I got a pretty flippant reply back from her. You have to buy them by the half dozen or dozen. I got the garlic Parmesan boneless wings and they were basically wings with a pool of butter poured over them with parmesean grated cheese sprinkled on top. My boyfriend got the old bay butter and his were also doused in melted butter with a hint of old bay on top. We were pretty unenthused as these wings tasted very standard to me. Drinks were nothing special and the fries and mozz sticks were the ordinary deep fried from frozen kind. Also there was the biggest slowest moving fly in there that would NOT leave us alone. Prices are cheap and the parking lot is tiny. It's cool to come and try interesting flavors of wings, but the food in my onion was nothing special.

This building has been painted and decorated to keep with the time period. Very cool if you are into history. After our dinner, we were given a tour of the catacombs, brewery, dining areas, etc. The tour guide was the owner who was also an actor in our dinner. He is full of knowledge and information about the beer making process and the building itself. The murder mystery dinner was fun. There are 3-4 rooms with patrons and a bar area. The actors move throughout the rooms giving hints, etc. There is a bar where the appetizers were set up and where you were able to order drinks. The drink menu was varied and had some interesting choices. Most were sweet drinks. They do have a full bar as well so you can find something to drink. Dave the bartender is super friendly and attentive. He makes the experience fun too. I would think that they would have had more elevated drinks relevant to that time period. I understand that they were trying to make it more relevant to today to get sales and make people happy. They had lots of options. Even a peanut butter/jelly martini that was spot on. The show itself was great. Very well played by the actors. Hard to follow along a little as the rooms do cause a barrier and you miss parts of the 'show' and the actual murder itself. The actors are friendly and fun. Some people that came even dressed the part. It's a murder mystery speakeasy theme. The hotel and rooms really fit the time period for this as well. The food was a typical buffet/cafeteria food options. You had to pick from chicken or steak when you bought your tickets online. The tickets were about $65 per person. That doesn't include the cost of drinks. The drinks were not pricey. You are paying for entertainment so keep that in mind. We had apps at the bar area that was self serve. Then, we had a salad that was good and soup that was just as good too (broccoli and cheddar). We then had the main course that was served with corn and mashed potatoes. The sides were just meh and the meats were a little dry. There is butter on top of the steak that is tasty. The steaks are served one temp and are thin. We were then given coffee and a piece of chocolate cake with whipped cream on top. After the dinner reveal, the bartender gives you some history of the building and then the owner will come back and take you on at our through the entire building. It is a maze. Super cool to see all the parts. This was a great activity to do. Again, you aren't paying for a $65 meal, but rather entertainment. I would for sure go again. They do have lots of other entertainment options throughout the year and we were told that Halloween is a super spectacular time to visit. If you like history, you will love this place. It is also a working hotel.

Prior to our tour leading us through the historic brewery, our group was chiding for being too loud during the tour he was leading. Minutes later, he had to be corrected by our guide for playing a video too loud during our tour! The tour itself was brief, but pleasant. Now, down to the meat of my giving 2-stars. The dining areas had a great ambience of history with the exposed subterranean walls. The pin point lights intermingled with the red drapes added to this atmosphere. As beautiful as this was to the eye, it made reading the menu a challenge. Because to bring your cell phone or a flashlight, if you expect to read anything. Then the menu. To say there was an imbalance between entree pricing and preparation quality would be an understatement. We were alarmed by the sheer elevated prices, especially once discovered how average to sub-par the meals actually were. My wife was very disappointed with her pork. And as someone who has enjoyed and prepared Oscar for my entire adult life, this was easily the worst I ever tasted. I certainly had much higher expectations for the $70 charges for my plate alone. Service was the rotten cherry on top. As a diner, there was an overhanging sense that the motivation was to turn the tables for the next pending tour group. Then when you wanted assistance, no one was to be found. My wife had to walk to the service station herself, Just to get a box. All in all, I won't ever go back to Bube's. I'll also double down, and eagerly recommend that none of my friends go either.
